Does your compass work on kitkat? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Am I the only one who has problems?

Cmon guys help me out for once. It's a very simple question. Does your compass work on kitkat? To try it out you can install smart compass from play store. Pls I need some feedback. If it works what ROM are you on

Works for me. I am on Ecliptic 4.4.0
It might make a difference that I have installed every firmware update that has come out when it came out. If you just install the latest, you'll notice its missing a bunch of updates that some of the older firmwares appeared to apply. Maybe you are having an older firmware on the compass hardware or something?

Kernel problem
Ok found out it's a kernel problem. Even the problem with the other sensors seems kernel related. Flashing ElementarX fixed it for me. You should try it out http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407568531
Editefinitely a kernel issue. I am sure now it's not a lib problem. I flashed Elementar and replaced the libs with the "defaults", compass still works. The kernel should also be responsible for the auto rotate issue, this kernel only works with the sensors.default.so, while the stock base it works with sensors.m7wls.so

For what it's worth both compass and OTG (saw your post in the insert coin thread) work flawlessly on the stock kernel for me. Sounds like issues stemming from the modified kernels...

Unfortunately they are on the stock kernel(at least it's supposed to be stock) from InsertCoin. We definitely need a kernel dev to look at these issues. I hope we get that ruu soon, that way we won't have these problems

Looking at the commit for r136 from Insert Coin it looks like the Lunar kernel was used to solve the compass issue. If I remember right from posts that I've read relating to both ElementalX and Lunar I think they're based off of international source code (maybe verizon in the case of Lunar) and then modified to work with Sprint which may be what's causing this issue since they're not built off the stock sprint kernel. I'm not a kernel dev though so just throwing around ideas...

It's actually the opposite. The stock kernel was full of bugs and the custom kernels rsolved some of those. That said I don't understamd why some people with stock kernel have no problems. Maybe it's kernel+libs issue so in the IC ROM the use mostly M7 libs=issues

ah, that could make sense. I'm on a stock rom which obviously = stock kernel AND stock libs and haven't noticed any kernel related issues

It's working fine on Bad Boyz 4.4.2 ROM as well.

[ROM] 2.3.4 GRJ22 - Stock Deodexed ZipAligned - FASTEST STOCK ROM YOU'LL FIND

This is a stock version of my daily use build with all the apps perfectly working (even Gtalk). Fastest Stock build you're going to find here on XDA

- My Hosts File (blocks almost all ads in internet/apps/games)
- HSDPA pimpage! (Aggressively switches networks)
- SpareParts installed
- lowmemorykiller tweak in init.rc (DO NOT USE A TASK KILLER APP OR BATTERY SAVER!!)
- Killer battery life
- build.prop tweaks
- No Radio included

EDIT : Actually I have a question, does it include the new radio ? or do we have to flash it ourselves ? (if we have to flash it, would you have a link ?)

I posted thsi in the RAV rom thread as well.. but here it is again as its applicable to you too.
it is my first time trying out these roms and I have tried a few today, getting the hang of it now and can report that this rom as well as the one in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1065392
works best on my device.
All the others MIUI, nexus Sense etc etc all have a lot of errors popping up on market and camera etc. I was looking for a rooted rom on 2.3.4.
I just had one question. There are a lot of roms here that have VOODOO preloaded, but yours doesnt. I liked the functions on VOODOO with all the amplifier settings and colour tint adjustment that people are talking about since 2.3.3.
Do you plan to put that on here? I downloaded the application from market but it reports the kernel is not supported.
If not, is it already tweaked with the tint and amp settings that the voodoo app does?
Also, this may be a noob question. How do I change the fonts on my device. Can I choose any font and just apply it through a setting somewhere?
Dumb question
Would this ROM work with the Sprint Nexus S 4G CDMA or is this only for GSM? I noticed it said it didn't have a radio included so I wasn't sure.

This is only for GSM...to answer your question, yes, the rom would flash but then your phone wouldn't work. Don't flash this build on your NS4G.

Hello,
i have to say that i disagree on this , cm is now really reliable ,this is daily use for me.Everything ( or nearly) works fine now .fast , daily use and correct battery is what define the current cm.
On the other hand , i agree that we have really nice rom but look , last topogigi's is really good also , i agree , but on my own experience , on overall use , i feel more comfortable with cm because even with the last SP , somme issue can occur.
GR3 is not daily use according to me ATM but as usual each phone has its own problems so this is what i feel , not the average experience
I was lucky on stock rom ( never had a problem on it ) , i must be unlucky on custom rom

It is your right to disagree but that doesnt make it correct, if the nightlys are so great and the so called stable version is better then why is it every single day someone posts a topic on the cyanogen forum saying that something is constantly force closing and the only way to fix it is to restore a backup or re-flash the rom...yeah no thanks.
I also never had problems on the stock 2.2.2 rom but i wanted it to be faster and to be up to date with new apps/games that wanted 2.3 to run so i looked for the most stable roms and topogigis has proven to be that rom and iv had zero issues since settings it all up im happy.

Except if your USB gets buggered after installing a custom ROM. Then you're stuffed aren't you? I had this issue with my first handset after I installed Modaco. Luckily, the phone was still within the initial 28 day replacement period here so they didn't bother checking and sent me another one.

This is a really fast ICS rom, probably the fastest I've used.
This Rom takes a while to start on first boot in general, and slightly longer than you'd think on start-up in general. Don't freak out If it stays on the Exhibit screen for a bit.
Edit: I made a typo, If you DL'd 'V4' It's the same as right now, I just made a typo in the forum topic -_-

I definitely agree that this is the fastest ROM, possibly snappier than stock.
My one qualm with it is almost any pop up (GoSMS popup, the menu in the play store, etc) will pop up, then slowly grow for the next few seconds, making it hard to tap what I wanted to. Any idea how to fix this?

I had this same issue, it needs to be added to the OP. Go to developer options and disable window animation scale.
I would also like to report that it's not just the first boot that takes awhile, at least for me. Each boot is significantly longer than on Core2Idiot's CM9 build, but it's definitely bearable.
Other than that, this is an amazingly snappy rom, no overclocking needed. Definitely the fastest this side of android 4.0, but not sure if it beats RebelROM.

I'll change that, I think the creator just set the default window animation speed to be that way but I agree it is annoying

Great work on this Rom. My current daily driver, and my favorite out of your Roms. Didn't enjoy the Galaxy S theme of RemICS-JB as much as I thought I would, and Ehendroix theme is just not good looking to me. Of course those are just aesthetics and the Roms themselves are solid, did not have the issues others are reporting. Keep up the work and maybe we will see this Rom end up JB based instead of ICS. Thanks

OP updated, rebuild based on the newer Galaxy S+ version; It still looks pretty much the same.
The boot times are still long, but it is slightly speedier than before which is saying a lot
Window scale speed is still sloooow, disable it since I think it's meant to be that way by default at this point anyhow.
Edit: I've been playing around with this a bit, It really is in my opinion the fastest ICS rom, It's perfect for games

We can just flash it over the last build right? Or not because you built it from a different phone?
Also, it's definitely the fastest ics rom, I'd even say it's the fastest out of all of the 4.0+ roms.

This is a completely different Biohazard, this one was based on the S+ where the previous was based on W

| About Odyssey: |
Odyssey is a simple clean and smooth rom with the basic features but none of the over the top extras.I feel as though a lot of custom roms take it to far and have so much to them that we can't use it all. We all love extras but there is a line that a lot of custom roms cross that seem to make them a little less user friendly. So we've created Odyssey. We will of course add lots more to this rom based on demand from users But all the while continuing down the path of simplicity. I plan on rapid releases and full support for this . I hope you all enjoy it..

Chameleon is using cm base at its best..
Really cool cm taken base to re edit cm how it should have been..
Well for odyssey will wait where it goes with customizations..
Re-edited--
As i am on first post hope my post helps you..
The rom is cm based 10.2 non-official
Its really snappy..
All chameleon picks mostly..
Really a handy tool rom..
Root issues for me but dev clarified not incorporated..
So i installed root and working fine but new kernel installation breaks root thats the thing..
Overall i love the rom...sidebar issues not found as op states so its no issue with rom yet i saw..
just cm need to incorporate root calmly and that would reflect this rom..elegant look.. Thumbs up for future release..
Downloading..........

Lol let the spam begin... Just flash it and see.. I don't know I updated my radio and bootloader a long time ago...as of su just enable apps and adb in dev options that's it.. Wouldn't call it an issue.. Some people don't even use root..

Looks very good and promising. Can you recommend a kernel that will work with this ROM, that has slide2wake and slide2lock module? I use Touch Control and it did not work with this ROM. Other than that, it's very slick. Thanks.
Love the boot animation, by the way.

Are you asking him to search a kernel for you? Who knows what you need better than yourself?
Just try em and see for yourself, its part of the fun to be honest! Just remember to look for a kernel that works with JS roms...Purified has problems with some cm based roms so its a hit or miss...

Many people dont give a proper answer when asked..
If u ask.me ill go for bricked kernel by showp
The best kernel with swipe to wake as he himself is the founder and many people have reported the issue of hiccups like in 4.3 while using keyboard is not seen..
So thumps up for that kernel
And for thread owner its not a spam..
I was just aking any issues with it..
As well i would recommend what things broke..i know u mentioned cm issues..
Well clearly u should mention..no root available by default cause many users like me need out of the box root available.. Cause apps like filemanager, cereberus need it compulsory..
If u know what i mean..
Im just trying to say plz mention that.
Well my banner looks fine..though i hv a wallpaper made in my mean time..so will give it for next release..let me know when u need..

Yes I've noticed over the few years I've been reading this board, some people choose to be snarky instead of actually providing help.
I asked the ROM dev for a kernel recommendation. I don't think that was out of line or spam.
In any case, thank you sid21. I'll give bricked kernel a look. For now, I'm back to CM stable, but I'll definitely give this ROM a go this weekend when I have some free time.

Buddy just chill..
Why you getting so hyper??
I was just stating that im not spamming instead asking for any major bugs seen in 4.3 as reported in other custom roms like root and etc..
Well then he gave my answer that this rom doesnt have root from out of the box..
So i thought its important that he put up in the op thread..
And i was helping about the kernel related thing to a member..as far no kernel is not able to resolve the stuttering held with google keyboard on 4.3..
Just showp did that..so i was recommending it to him..instead yelling at him that go find any and test..now thats not spamming
But people who just yell are spamming instead of being rude and not helping..

After 3 bricks and lots of testing, here's my VZW G2 KitKat 24a ROM's, stock and debloated.

Cooks or Devs:
Anybody can use part of all of this rom as a base as I don't own this rom. Just posting a credit is sufficient enough for me. My loss of 3 bricks is your gain!
Warning MD5 must match or risk brick due to kk baseband being flashed.
ROM's:
FULL WIPE NEEDED
Steps 1: Flash ROM
Step 2: Flash kk baseband. Must be on 11a, 12b. If ur on 24a u don't need baseband.

Great job on the ROM. Know you worked real hard on it for us. One question , I'm on 4.4.2 cm11 with recovery already installed just to be sure I can just backup my ROM and flash the stock debloated correct?

Yes, if you've done JC's step 3 already, your 100 percent ready to flash!!! Backup and full wipe also. Wipe system too.
Awesome!!
Can't wait to check out your work.
Just so I'm clear, how does your stock 24a differ from the ota?

Its the same 24a stock. No difference. No reason to flash the stock rom if your already on stock 24a.
That's what I thought, but wasnt sure with one of the prerequisites being the manual ota.
Do you have a convenient list of removed apps? If not, no big deal. Thanks so much for your work

Since this is not different from the OTA itself, and it requires you to do the manual method of installing the OTA as a pre-req, one would question why continue further on to flashing this after you have manually installed the OTA?
I don't understand what is new about this?

If you did the manual KK ota, there is no need to flash stock rom. If you did CM11 on JC's thread, and want to get back to KK, then you can flash this and get it back, or the debloated rom.

My understanding: These are just two options to install the ROM only. If you have already done it manually then there is no need, unless you want to try the debloated version.

Ok, that makes sense, but it should probably be clearly stated in the OP that this is for people who have already done the manual OTA install, moved to CM, and would like to flash back.
I say this because most people are looking for a solution to be able to flash the KK rom in general, while this is a wonderful piece of work, it also serves a very specific purpose, which doesnt appear to be very clearly outlined, and might get some people into trouble if they jump the gun.
