no need to flash recovery or ROM after updating firmware
Got another problem.
When the phone is on, I can give commands via the command prompt (reboot etc works)
When in bootloader it always says 'waiting for device"
I've already relocked the bootloader to install the firmware

Hi,
I have a Sprint htc one that I had previously unlocked, rooted and installed twrp and cm10.1 on. I was trying to restore the factory rom and now I can't boot up. seams like i have deleted all OS'. I can open the bootloader and twrp. I can not find any zip in twrp to reinstall cm10 just to get the phone working again. I have tried the adb function in twrp but it keeps failing. i have also tried to install the RUU file but can not get it to work. it states that my device has 1.31.651.2 and the RUU I'm trying to use is 1.29.651.7. Is there somewhere I can download the 1.31.651.2 image version. Or is there another way to unbrick my phone.

I think the safest at this point where FASTBOOT recognizes your devices but ADB doesn't is to go back to stock flashing a RUU this only requires FASTBOOT.

I have windows 8, and it seems windows doesn't find the driver, but when I boot the phone normaly, i can access it using adb (but not fastboot). Any ideas ?
I still can execute the recovery option in the boot loader, but i have nor Zip file to install. I also changed the cid, so the stock rom won't flash.
Advice appreciated

Yes, I already installed the HTC drivers (htc sync +d rivers, then uninstalled htc sync, as it get's annoying while plugin on off of the phone)
My biggest problem is that, now fastboot is not running in bootloader mode, so I can't even flash an image or change back the settings i did.
(And of course seems like in bootloader mode, that windows can't find the phone).
So my Idea would be to flash a Zip.rom, like the over the air updates using the recovery option. It's just that i changed the CID to GOOGLE001. :/

Jep, so what i do is, i power the phone on, it boots into stock android --> adb devices works and retunrs my phonenumber (also the windwos driver is fine while in stock android)
i do adb reboot-bootloader and it starts into the bootloader (fastboot is turned off in the settings)
and then I'm stuck, Windows can't find the phone (get a bunch of errors with unsopoorted usb device)
also adb devices and fastboot devices is not working, so i tried to execute different commands like flashing or oem unlock,
but all i get is the message<waiting on device>

Anyway, I would do the RUU. restore your phone and try again with a good custom ROM. Did you check MD5 with the rom you download? You still can connect your phone with ADB. That mean your phone is not brick yet. : )

windows 8.1 will not work on hboot below 1.54.000 (the only 1.54 that works is from the new GPE 4.4 update).
your going to need access to a windows 7 PC long enough to update your hboot to 1.55 to be able to use fastboot with your phone again. This usually only happens while flashing a RUU not A Rom. Flashing a rom will not affect your version of hboot

You are right, i can confirm hboot 1.54.0000 - i was flashing the RUU to convert my HTC ONE toa Google Edition.
So all I need is a windows 7 or lower pc to get fastboot running again?
That's good news, I would have searched for ages.
Yeah it's frustrating I know
If you use the 1.54.000 from the 4.4 GPe update it works also

So I'm going to ASSUME:
1- you have an M7_U or UL
2- you now have TWRP 2.6.3.3 installed
3- the ROM your flashing is exactly the ROM you want and is fully compatible with your device and your recovery, and I know this because of
4- you have made sure the ROM download isn't corrupt
anything else I should be assuming
how about you post a "fastboot getvar all" excluding IMEI and s/n, and answer the above questions.

I apologize for the lack of info. This is my first time rooting and I thought I had read everything thoroughly and knew how to do it. I am not very fluent in DOS so that also confuses me. My phone is a M7_UL. I am still using TWRP 2.6.3.0, I could not figure out how to install 2.6.3.3 I am trying to flash CM11 rom that is for the HTC One. I can't post a getvar because my device is not recognized now. I will keep trying and will post it when I can
I ran the Cyanogenmod factory reset and now the phone will not boot. It is stuck on the Cyanogenmod boot logo. If I boot to the fastboot it tells me device is still unlocked with s-off. From there it will not boot further or go into recovery. If I try to go into recovery it sits at the Android boot logo.
If I need to do anything complicated to fix please explain. I haven't messed with the phone other than rooting, unlocking, and flashing roms.
Thanks!

You won't see the device, partitions and all.
It should only be present in device manager.
Try the command:
fastboot devices
it should get you the SN on your phone.
If u are new to fastboot and ADB try this article http://techbeasts.com/2014/01/05/useful-adb-and-fastboot-commands-and-how-to-them/
and this one even better:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225405
After you understand fastboot and adb, and also performed the 2 commands above, if u deleted the zip archive of your ROM to flash again your phone, you will have to push or sideload a ROM, see point E) from this thread:

If I boot the phone normally and let it get stuck at the Cyanogenmod loading screen it sees my device. Tells me the serial number and "UNAUTHORIZED".
Booting in fastboot usb - nothing.

Try to see if u can install drivers manually:
Download the Windows7 (64 Bit) drivers here - http://d-h.st/OYI
Unzip to any location you want. Just remember where you put them.
Plug in your phone FASTBOOT to your USB cable .
Open your Device Manager (Windows Key + X and select Device manager) and locate HTC under Other Devices and right click on it and select Update Driver Software
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Click Browse and then select the folder you unzipped with the drivers in it then click next.
It should now install your drivers and then in your device manager it will now show up "My HTC" under Android USB Devices.

Still nothing. BTW that driver is older than the others.
Let me clarify a little.
Driver you gave me is installed and phone shows up in device manager when in fastboot usb mode.
However if I type "adb devices" I get the response "List of Devices" with nothing under it. There are no devices listed.
If I boot the phone normally and get hung on the Cyanogenmod Boot screen the command will show my device serial.

Well, if u don't see a new device in Device Manager when u plug your phone, is either Windows or your phone.
U already swiched usb ports.
Try another computer.
If that doesn't work, it's your phone's usb port, and that is a hardware problem.
****, I just realized my problem. I was using command "adb devices" not "fastboot devices"
UGGG *slams head on desk*.
I am in CWM Recovery now.

U still have your ROM zip?
Install that. Do not try factory reset again!
If not, I explained how to push or sideload a ROM

I HAD my ROM zip however the SDCard partition is toast apparently. Error is "E: Can't Mount /SCDARD"
It won't connect to my laptop (Windows 10) although the USB in and out sounds do play
The HBOOT is 1.54.0000
The version of TWRP is v2.6.3.3
It's S-On
The HTC doesn't take micro sd so how do I put an os onto it?
Any recommended os files?
Go to bootloader > fastboot and flash the latest TWRP ( https://dl.twrp.me/m7/ ), then reboot to recovery and choose "Mount", check if MTP is ENABLED. Connect to your laptop and copy flashable ROM zip into TWRP folder. Then flash it.
From fastboot, then what do I press

You must have fastboot & adb binaries installed on your pc ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 ) install it with "create shortcut" option enabled. Download the TWRP image, rename it to "twrp" and place it in your fastboot folder, then connect your phone to pc, launch the program (use the shortcut) and type "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img"

By the way, have you ever updated your phone? Bootloader v.1.54.0000 is very old, this version was relevant in 2013 I guess. I recovmmend you to flash stock ROM first, could you type in fastboot "fastboot getvar all" and post the info here?
Phone doesn't connect to pc, the USB in sounds play and the phone charges, but doesn't appear under my computer or anywhere else.

It must connect in fastboot mode but it won't appear in Windows Explorer. You can only flash images via fastboot command prompt

To use fastboot commands your phone must be booted in bootloader mode with the red "fastboot usb" caption showing. If you don't see "fastboot usb" in red then your drivers are not installed correctly. Make sure you have the latest HTC drivers version installed on your computer and also that you don't have htc sync installed. Once fastboot is working, please post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (Don't post your imei/sn).
