[Q] Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to everybody.
In the process of porting ColorOS on Sony Xperia Z (C6603) I’ve probably done something wrong because when I reboot the phone won’t turn on, the diodes are off. My PC recognize the phone as Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008. I understand the bootloader is damaged. Is there anyone who can provide me with recovery instructions without JTAGG or RIFF box? May be it can be done through QSTP and HDDRawCopy.

Sure the bootloader is damaged? I mean what does FlashTool tell you when you connect the phone in flash mode?

from my experience with my old HTC Incredible S, and from what i understand, the bootloader will remain intact unless fiddled with, its just the phone doesn't know what to do after the bootloader stage.
my incredible S also got that HS USB message at some point, but i didn't touch the bootloader.
however if you did mess around with the bootloader then thats a different story.

Yes, I’m sure that it’s the bootloader. Because the phone does not respond to any buttons pressing, neither the turn on button nor the volume button. When the phone is connected to the PC and you turn it on, there is only a sound of a connected device. The phone doesn’t respond. Both the screen and diodes are off. FlashTool asks to connect the device, although any actions don’t let it happen.
In QSTP-eMMC Software Download it is recognized, but I need the files xml, hex and mbn for my phone. So I would try to restore the bootloader. But I don’t know where to find these files and how to use this program in the right way. That’s why I’m asking whether there is some kind of instruction.

First, you need to detail exactly what you did/what you flashed to your device to end up in this situation. Nobody can really provide any meaningful assistance without this information.
I will start off by saying that if you wiped or wrote over /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 then your device is permanently hard bricked. That is the trim area (TA partition) for this device and tampering with it will irreversibly brick your phone.
What happens when you connect your phone to your PC via USB when holding either volume +/-? (Try both).
I'm not sure of your knowledge on this phone, so forgive me if you already tried that.
If you damaged/destroyed your bootloader, then I don't think there are any tools available to write one back to your device and I don't think recovery tools from other devices are any use for the Z.

I flash the stock of Color OS from Oppo Find 5 with a minor changes...I forgot o delete mbn files from it..I think that is problem...How I can verify that I wrote over /dev/block/mmcblk0p1?
yes I'm tryied to connect while holding the volume buttons...and nothing
QSTP view my phone...maybe...it can be restored

According to this post by a RD, QDLOAD doesn't work for this device.
Check the update script for the rom you flashed to your phone to see what you did.
Edit - This post by @[NUT] contains an image listing the partition table for our device. If you flashed anything to a partition used by the bootloader or to the TA, then it seems you have permanently bricked your phone, unfortunately.

That's a part of update-script from build that I flashed

Any solutions? Or It's over?

I'm not sure what you want anyone to say/do.
If you're capable of porting a rom, then you should be able to check if you wrote to a partition used by the bootloader or the TA. If you did, then your phone is unfortunately permanently dead.
Sorry.

Help - I can't access my phone

I wanted to have a more secure phone so I thought it would be a good idea to encrypt it... wrong. I waited around 40 minutes for the device to fully encrypt then I went to decrypt my phone and it doesn't decrypt and instead just reboots and asks to be decrypted again. I have tried the sony update service, followed all the steps and when it tries to install the s1 bootloader it fails instantly.
I really need to access my phone >.<
Thank you,
Exiler18
You used flashtool aswell? It will fully reset and reflash your device but this will erase all data.

It literally just starts up like normal and then goes to decrypt your phone screen.
Okay this means it is not bricked but just stuck.
Turn off your phone and connect it into Flashmode (Plug in cable and hold power down untill you see a green led) to your computer.
If I'm right windows (I assume you are running windows) will start installing drivers. After that reboot computer and follow my tutorial again

Manual Software Update without root/keep warranty

Hi all. I'm a long time Samsung user, and been hanging around the forums for a reasonable amount of time but my wife recently got a Z3 compact and I'm clueless when it comes to them.
Basically I'm looking for a way to manually install a software update, as my phone SP hasn't yet released their version of the update out.
Anyone from the Samsung world - I'm essentially looking for the equivalent of DLing a rom from Samsung Firmwares and using Odin to install it.
Is this possible at all on the Z3 Compact? Any help would be great, as Telstra are terrible for updates.
Of course it´s possible only you need Flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/index.php and TFT file(firmware for Z3 Compact) you can check the last release with XperiFirm http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142 or you can check here too http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/list-stock-firmwares-d5803-d5833-t2906706

Yes, There is: http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/how-to-download-and-install-the-flash-tool/
Also http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/pc-xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142
And http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/09/01/flashtool-version-0-9-18-1-allows-you-to-download-xperia-firmware-files/
Cheers guys. Do I need an unlocked bootloader for this? Does that void the warranty? If not, how do I unlock the bootloader?
Sorry for the noob questions, really have no idea how to do this stuff with Sony, just know my i9XX series Samsungs!
Grr I downloaded everything, but I can't get the device to boot into flash mode.
I've installed Sony PC Companion previously, and tried to download a fastboot driver (which is just an inf), then with the phone off, I hold down volume down and plug it in. I see SOMC Flash Device, but the second that I let go of vol down the device reboots into normal mode and I never get the green LED.
The fastboot driver I have is this: http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/fastboot-driver/
But when I download that, if I try to update either SOMC Flash Device OR Xperia Z3 Compact drivers with it, but say that the folder has no compatible software driver for my hardware...Any ideas? I can' t believe I'm having so many issues just getting this thing into download/flash mode!
EDIT: Just realised that I was trying to install the fastboot driver, instead of flashmode.
So what do I do to get the phone to stay in Flashmode?
EDIT2: So I've found the driver install in the flashtool director, and ran that, installed the drivers, but still I can't get a green LED...
I can get it into fastboot mode (and the blue LED stays on, PLUS Flashtool detects the phone. Can I flash from fastboot mode?

You don't need to unlock the BL, you only do that when you want to use a different kernel. If you're planning on using a different kernel, please back up your TA partition first (after you're rooted) after that you can unlock the BL.
Backing up your TA-partition makes sure you don't lose your DRM keys. (Losing your DRM keys will void warranty)
No idea about the fastboot driver, I think Flashtool also gives you the option to install the drivers, so I'd say install it through Flashtool.
This is driving me batty!
I can get the phone into fastboot mode, but to flash in fastboot mode, I'd have to flash the .sin files one at a time - which I don't want to do! But I jsut can't get fastboot to recognise the device in flashmode to flast the ftf file whole!!
Are you using Flashtool to install a new FW or something else?
Yeah, to install a new firmware...I ended up doing it in a very unorthodox way...
I noticed when I plugged the phone up holding vol down flashtool would detect the phone to start with, before it either turned off or restarted itself. So I tried to flash the ftf, and said I need to attach the phone in flash mode, so I tried unplugging it, and holding down and plugging it back in, and it started flashing. I had to hold down volume down for the duration of the flash though, as I was scared it was drop out of flash mode mid way through

Enable USB debugging. To do this, spam the build number, after dev options are on, go to them from settings and find USB debugging.

Hard Bricked Xperia V

Hi everyone, I have a xperia v and tried the mod to increase my internal from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467040
And my phone is die. No boot, no led, no fastboot, no flashmode. Pc companion can't initialize my phone, just appears QHSUSB_DLOAD in pc. I think that mod will affected to my mmcblk0 or whatever in my phone. Someone tell me that mod highly affected to my bootloader and i have to find the way to restore my bootloader for fastboot working again. But i don't know how to do that.
Please everyone help me with instruction how to solve my problem.
Sorry for my bad english.
Are you sure fastboot is not working anymore? The problem is, if you flashed something into the beginning of mmcblk0 and you modified even a single bit of the TA partition (which comes directly after the partition table), then the phone is really hard bricked. As far as I know, you can only restore it if you have a backup of the TA partition (since its unique for every single phone, not just for the model/type) AND an external flasher with which you can program the flash chip directly over JTAG, but you will have to take apart the device for that.
Therefore, make sure it really is not accessible over fastboot first! What happens if you remove the battery and hold the volume up button while connecting the usb cable from the charger? No LED? Then I fear that the TA partition - on which the bootloader resides - is really broken.
Yes i think so. I afraid i brokened TA partition or bootloader. It's really hard for me.
I get help from someone and he give me this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-t-v/general/xperia-hard-brick-recovery-t2915303
But i think i have not TA backup of my phone.
And what about external flasher? I don't understand about it.

Reviving a HardBricked Xperia SP 5302

Hi all,
After long hours of troubleshooting and failures ..... I am here to ask for help.
I was trying to restore my Phone's Stock ROM (from CM 12.1) and I guess I chose the wrong version of the ROM (5303) and now, my Xperia is gone in deeeeeep sleep :crying:, and its now hard bricked.
I've tried lots of things like eMMC, S1Tool (Emergency mode)... but it seems that I'm unable to revive my phone back to life. S1 Tool in Emergency Mode seems to be working some times but as the files "SIN_FILE_SET" is for 5303 instead so it is not working and gives me error

As far as I might remember, flashing another model's ftf shouldn't really damage the phone, but I am not sure about that. Since you said that you did so and hard bricked your device, then i guess the answer is now otherwise.
Anyway, i have this one neat tip stored in my head thanks to one of our old member which i apparently forgot who Hold volume button down, connect to pc and press the yellow hard reboot button located at the back of the xperia SP until it reboots (not until it vibrates). This method however is untested by me because well, i haven't hard bricked my XSP. This should allow your XSP to boot into flashmode, if it can still properly boot. If it worked, then proceed flashing proper FTF. Note, this will indeed require many retries. Try until you're fed up, then confirm that this method didn't work for you.
Thanks for your help. That indeed did not worked :crying:
Now the phone when connected to PC is only recognised as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9800"
I've tried to fix it using QPST, MIFlash using MPRG8960.hex and 8960_msimage.mbn, but I'm unable to find the right patch0.xml and rawprogram0.xml I guess
Can anybody help please

Hard bricked help pls

Hi. Ive had some bad luck this weekend, firstly i had a rooted xperia sp that i rooted with the app it all worked fine for a long time. Then this last week i decided to flash a rom for the first time on this device (have done many times on my old xperia x10) everyting went well but i had really bad cellphone reception with this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/development/xperiasp-locked-bootloader-lbl-t2947194) so i tought why not flash another rom?
Thats what i set up myself to do, i found this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...rom-6-0-1-cyanogenmod-13-0-xperia-sp-t3347677) and it seemd well done and all but it required a unlocked bootloader so i decide why not just flash a kernel with it unlocked already... so i found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345567) and did the recovery method.
After this the cellphone wouldnt boot anymore (boot loop) so i tried to find a solution, the solution i found was to flash a whole new firmware so it would work fine, so thats what i tried i downloaded a image with flashtool (xperifirm)
the customized br 1271-6480 at this point i could still put the phone on fastboot and flashmode, so i started to flash that new firmware, the problem came when the cellphone disconnected (probably becouse of the boot loop) so now i have a brick.
Ive tried alot of things multiple versions of s1tools none of them "support" my device also downloaded QPST downloader the really old one version 2.7 it does detect my device when im on this "mode" with the driver "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" i can change back to the "ZEUS flash device" easily for s1tools but after all these hours of tests ive ran out of options... ive even opened the device 2 times the second time ive seem that when i remove the battery cable it flashes the red led once and then turns off.
any other tests i can do or just send it to someone to fix and they will ask for half of the phone price for it?
ps ive also tried to the rubber band method for about 12 hours no luck

For step 10, make sure that you've turned off the phone completely by pressing this tiny button in the back till it vibrates 3 times then connect the phone while holding the volume down key to enter flash mode and continue flashing.
I also recommend using this official way to repair your phone using Xperia companion to avoid hard brick, as our old XSP already has problems with the new versions of flashtool
