[Q] bricked one - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I really got in trouble, i messed with some framework res apk,the phone rebooted but got stuck at the htc one image, tried several tomes to reboot but with no succes
I entered TWRP recovery, tried wipe cache, system, but nothing helps, when asked for reboot twrp says that no os is installed
I do have a backup but on the computer, but without USB Debugging activated so I don't know how to get it on the phone
I would appreciate some advices on how to get back to life my precious one
Thank you

Do a adb sideload of a rom, boot up and send your backup to your phone.

You don't have to load a rom to be able to send your backup to the phone. You can use adb from twrp. Boot your phone in twrp and push your backup to the right directory. If you used twrp then:
adb push your_backup_folder_name /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/your_sn/your_backup_folder_name
then restore your backup
dont forget to put ''your_back_folder_name'' in the same folder you have adb/fastboot in

That's one for in the book!

I did install the drivers, for example fastboot works, but adb not, I think because I have not the USB debugging enabled

If your in TWRP, adb should be working without USB debugging enabled. So i suggest to check adb drivers.

Please Help!

Hello,
I've just unlocked the bootloader, flashed twrp recovery, wiped and tried to install a rom but the rom bootlooped (turned out it was corrupt) and now i'm stuck with a 700$ phone and a recovery. I've tried adb sideload (on my mac it doesnt even recognize the command), running fastboot update, but that doesnt work. I'm hopeless and I need some hope. PLEASE HELP!

There is only one way to fix this and that is ADB sideload. You need to get to a windows PC and bring a good copy of the ROM you want to install. Make sure you have Clockworkmod recovery flashed. And then sideload the rom. Also make sure to keep the rom zip name short and simples too long or spaces can cause it to fail.

Sadly I do not have access to a windows PC . I'm going to try and reinstall the stock recovery, as that may fix my boot image, as that was the part of the rom I flashed that had been corrupted. Thankyou for your response.

[Q] I just dun goofed :(

Hey guys, long time lurker and now first time poster. Shame it has to be something very stupid.
So anyways, I wanted to flash the latest CM10.2 Unofficial build so I did the usual and downloaded the zip & gapps to my phone. But upon wiping my phone via TWRP I accidentally left the wipe userdata part checked and ... well now I have no OS installed as well as no zip's :/
I have TWRP installed so I thought why not sideload it, however when I go to advanced -> adb sideload it never starts up. This is the log:
Updating partition details...
Starting ADB sideload feature...

And it just stays there
I know that my ADB works as I have S-OFF & unlocked the bootloader and flashed the latest 1.54.0000 hboot so I can definitely use it, I just don't understand why it doesn't let me sideload for some reason.
Either way, I have full access to fastboot & TWRP recovery so i'm hoping this is a pretty simple thing to fix ... right?
Can anybody point me to the right direction?
Details:
No OS installed.
Access to TWRP & fastboot.
S-OFF, Modified Hboot 1.54.0000 (SuperCID) & Unlocked bootloader.
Windows 8 64-bit, drivers all work.
Latest SDK with all the binaries installed.
P.S. when I connect and try and use adb devices it doesn't recognise my device, and the cmd window gives the following when I try the sideload command:
Error: device not found.

Sounds like a driver issue to me but it doesn't make sense that the drivers would suddenly stop working ???
Here are screenshots of odd device behaviour when switching from fastboot to recovery (please copy & paste, I don't have enough posts to post images yet):

I can't seem to get sideload to work in TWRP at the moment either. CWM works fine though, try flashing that and use the sideload feature.

Tried that already, same issue in not detecting the device. I'm downloading these drivers in a hope to fix something.
Thanks for the reply
EDIT:
Finally got sideloading in TWRP to work, it turns out it was a driver issue :/
Anyways, these are the drivers that worked:
androidfiles.org/hasoon2000/getdownload.php?file=HTC%20Drivers/HTCDriver.exe
why is everyone always wiping their storage these days? just use CWM next time and you wont accidentally do this again..

TWRP is much better for people who know what they are doing. There are more options and also a built in file manager. Also, the wipe button in TWRP wipes the 3 main partitions at once (data/cache/dalvik), so he must have actually selected internal sdcard from the advanced menu, and I have no idea why he would do that...
Doing the slider is all anyone needs to do in twrp to wipe yet I read more posts about people wiping with twrp than any other problem in these forums

s-off using fastboot -> not as far as i know; reflash a compatible rom for rumrunner or revone (depending on your firmware), and get s-of.

[Q] Boot Loop & more

Going through the process to repair my phone has educated me on tremendously about the errors of my ways. If anyone can provide any beneficial assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
OTA (PRIOR- 4.4.2. kitkat )Sense 5.5 with updated firmware 4.06 HBOOT 1.56
Sprint HTC ONE M7_WLS
S-ON
TAMPERED
UNLOCKED
TWRP Recovery
UNDETECTED IN ADB
Remote signature failed
Remote access denied
Running on Windows 8.1 and ADB version 1.0.31
USB 1.0 (I know that 2.0+ is better)
Cause for boot loop = No OS available. (Yes, I am aware that I need to install a ROM but that is the issue I am having.)

I originally had CWM recovery on there and wanted to use the TWRP recovery instead since it had the HTC dumblock on there, which helped out before. While my phone was in it current condition, I downloaded TWRP and flashed it into my HTC ONE. I know I must have done so wrongfully because now when I try to go into recovery... it freezes during "entering recovery" and reboots into boot loop.
from bootloader open a cmd window and type
fastboot erase cache
See if that helps

I've made that attempt already. But the strange thing is that it executes the command, but if used again it will give me a list of blocks and inods or something like that. But I will try the command and reboot the system. Ill update with the outcome.

Okay I erased the cache, it confirmed the command. I rebooted and of course it was in boot loop. I entered bootloader, then to recovery... and the same problem persisted.

Just make sure when you get to the part where you push to rom to your phone make sure you use a 4.4.2 rom or your phone may not boot.

Try this to get the drivers installed properly
(If you are using Windows 8.1 this will most likely not work)
On your PC go to device manager and find your phone(usually M7WLS), right click and select properties
Select the driver tab
Select update driver
Select browse my comp
Let me pick
Look for ADB USB device or similar should be one of the first couple choices
Select MyHTC install and you should be good

Not sure how adb was prior to this past week but I would agree that fastboot works great. Its the only thing that has worked or else I wouldn't have messed up my own phone.

Adb has always worked fine for me. However, in twrp there should be an option to mount, I've had to use this on my one x to load a Rom (and boot.img, since I was also s-on) onto my sd.
I flashed the Rom in twrp, reboot to bootloader then fastboot flashed the boot.img

Yeah, my adb isn't working and hasn't been working from day one. I'm sure I'm just missing the fact that I cant debug my phone because it's in boot loop. But one more step left to see if everything I've learn in the past week pays off.

You should sideload rom to youre device.

Just no worries, you will get youre phone 'alive' again, it happend to most of us I think.
