After updating my HTC One to Android 4.4.2 ( ARHD 51.0) its not possible to pull down the Notificationbar inside the Car App, even if i open another App through the Car App e.g. Navigon.
Is this a bug or a new "feature"!?
Anyboy an idea how to solve this.
I often use the Car App and like to switsch Music Title in the Notification Bar or directly go to new messages while navigate with Navigon. At the moment i have to go back to the Car App and open music or any other app on this way.
I already tried some apps from the playstore which make it possible to launch the bar when in fullscreen mode, but they doesn´t work in the Car App.
Any ideas?

What is this app about?
Can be closed after answered ;-)
Thanks!
It makes the basic functions such as contacts, music, phone, navigation easy to access by making big buttons. So you don't have to concentrate on finding shortcuts on your homescreens or in the menu.
Works pretty good when in a car cradle.
This car app is an custom lg app, the standard app is cuatomisable and has multiple screens. It looks like lg edited the android 2.1 version instead of the 2.2 > version. I hope they will change this in the update, so I can place others apps in the car kit app, like traphic jam info.

So I finally got sick of my two cheap 3rd party car docks and bought the Samsung one. (which in hindsight I should've done in the first place as it totally justifies it's cost)
But when I connect my Tab, the notification bar shows a "Car Mode" steering wheel icon but nothing launches. (with the 2 cheap docks, the Car Mode notification didn't ever appear)
There's nothing called "Car Home" in the apps drawer nor can I find it in/with Titanium Backup Pro
Can anyone confirm its working for them, and let me know what's meant to happen?
Running Overcome GB RC2...
Car Home is an app with shortcuts to Maps, Navigation, Contacts and Messages (I think) so you can choose common apps you need while in the car. You should be able to get it from Samsung Apps.

Hello everyone! I currently own a DROID 3 flashed with SteelDroid's 3.0 ROM. At the moment I am experiencing an auto-rotate issue when I place my D3 onto the car mount. For example, the car dock application rotates correctly, however, whenever I have my phone app or navigation app, it doesn't rotate 90 degrees. Anyway to fix this? If anyone has any documentation on how to do so, please link me...I will take it from there.
Also! chevycam incorporated the ICS music apk in his rom...when i try to access the music shortcut in the car dock apk it causes a force close issue. anyway to fix that? i would greatly appreciate anyone's input on this matter.
THANK YOU!
1) my Car dock does this too, I'm going to look into it probably over the weekend.
2) the music shortcut is still trying to open the old music app, so when it doesn't find it, it force closes. You can also scroll to the side and make your own shortcut for the new music app.

Same problem here with auto-rotate. Was not an issue in SD2. Possibly power notification widget?

Yeah I ended up using a third part music app. Question, do I edit .apks with eclipse (doesn't have to be eclipse) so I can attempt to fix the music app location f/c issue? Seriously, let me know how I can help since you'll be looking into this yourself dpwhitty.

Anyone have an update on this, I have the same problem with the car dock.
I switched back to steeldroid 2.0...no issues there. I wish I could find the source of the problem...sorry

Liberty 3.0 works fine also.
it must not be reading the magnet position correctly. D3 still relies off of the magnet to identify dock status. i've verified this with a pendant and no dock. if the screen is set to NOT auto-rotate, and the keyboard is closed, maps/nav, etc., will always be portrait. apply a correctly positioned/polarity magnet and landscape is invoked.
Any fix for this yet?
There's an app on the market that allows you to force rotation on individual applications. Its my new best friend!!

Hello
Before Nougat upgrade I could switch to other apps while using Android Auto on my Nexus 6P. Or maybe I only could do it when I still had my LG G4? Can't remember.
Yesterday I had started Android Auto and after that I was going to start an app that I use to listen to audiobooks. I could not do this, I could not get away from AA. So I ended up stopping Android Auto and just used Google Maps instead to navigate so I still could control my phone.
Does anyone know any trick to start other apps when AA is started?

That's how aa works on my z5 mm - exiting car mode (to interact on the phone) ends aa.
I can control certified apps from my head unit.
Yes, it is supposed to work like that. It's not exactly the way I like it but that't how it works. But there might be a way around it for you.
I use iCoyote (a radar app) on my phone and before I connect the phone to Android Auto, I start that app. When Android auto has completed the connection with the car, I am able to put the app back on screen using the status bar. Of course, this only works for apps that are visible in the status bar but I suspect that will be the case with your audiobook app.
A better solution for you however, is to switch to another audiobook app that supports Android Auto. I haven't tried one yet but there are plenty of audiobook apps available in the app store that have support for Android Auto so you won't need to control the app on your phone anymore.
I figured out a workaround. Open Now on Tap and do what you need to do from there.
(start it by long-pressing home button)

Smart Audiobook player supports aa. Its the one I use for books in my car..

Quite an old thread, but have you tried pressing the headphone button twice? Then I can switch to other apps.

I'm using the app Tiles to start app from quick settings now. Works great.

No, but it lets you start an app on your phone even though you're not supposed to be able to do that while using AA.
This sucks though, because if you have a passenger in the car it is of course OK do this, or if you have stopped the car.
On my S7E, I just tap the recent key, then the home key immediately afterwards to go back to Nova Launcher. I have to use that button sequence every time, but it works reliably.
I really hope they don't 'fix' this 'problem' when 7.x hits these phones. I find the verbal message narration to be quite unacceptable.
Luckily, I have a N7 in my daily driver, so this is mostly a moot point for me, but could be a concern when I get my model 3.
