I just want like a list, it's a mess, all phones and variants jumbled together. All I found was Nitros rom.
Homework is a part of the process with this stuff.
Or you can trust what someone you don't know tells you....and hope they have a clue what they're talking about.
There's only a small handful of roms....if you can't read the opening posts in only a few threads....then you're in for a rough ride.
Sorry....but people need to help themselves here, before they ask for things..... That's what xda is supposed to be all about.

1. i think i had 14gb available when i first restored.
2. n/a... i purchased one of the first units released at bestbuy. i'm assuming they're on 4.4.2 now.
3. if you're gonna root... go get the Developer Edition. afaik, 4.4.2 is un-rootable as is. if you're on 4.4 and rooted.. you can take the OTA to 4.4.2 and keep the root access... read the threads for full details.
If you can't get the dev edition there is a method to unlock for around $44. Note that only need dev edition/unlock method for ATT/Verizon
Not to offend you Toxic ....but you've made a should I buy an x type thread in December, and another recently, and now this....which will end up being similar information tossed around as your other 2 threads. LOL
What I'm trying to say is this....if you still aren't sold on the Moto x.....I think you should pass. You've had pages and pages of discussion about it....going on 4 months now.....if you are still unsure if its for you, then frankly.....it probably isn't.
Good luck with whatever you decide on.

Also....if you buy a Verizon or at&t non dev phone....you maybe can unlock the bootloader for about 45 bucks IF the method doesn't vanish....which it could at anytime without warning....and if you don't have an unlocked bootloader you cannot have properly functioning root on 4.4.2 as it stands today. Or not at all if your phone comes with 4.4.2 already on it.

Anyone have any recommendations for custom roms on the Moto G? I have my Moto G rooted, so I'm investigating next steps.
I'm looking for something that provides increased security. Do any of the custom roms help with this? Or, are the custom roms more aimed at GUI customization? I really don't care if the icon is more fancy or a blue color. I really want something that gives me functional improvement.
thanks,
John
There are no real usable Custom ROMs yet, just a few that were put together but don't boot most of the time.

Please try reading a bit more. The same question is just 2 posts below yours and you would have got the answer for your 2nd question about ROM recommendation in that thread itself.

I did read that thread. That post is about 2nd Gen moto G's. Not xt 1032's. Even reading that thread does not give an answer like you suggest it does.
I've found an article on the internet that says there are 5 roms available for gen 1 moto g's and it gives a brief description of each, but as a new member, I was not able to post the link to it. Says I have to post 10 messages first before I am able to post links. However, the article does not give the pros and cons of each rom.

ps.
You may want to rename this forum Gen2 or XT106x.
I purchased my Gen1 in 2014. Wasn't aware that's what folks are calling Gen2.

Yup, you are right but don't know who can change it. I think admin can change that
I see custom Roms have started to appear, but it seems they are mostly for 1068 dual Sim, no love for 1064? How hard is it to port between these 2 models?
I want to buy the Verzion Moto X devel. edition. I want to know will this work on straight talk?
Check the bands available on the phone you're interested in then compare them to the bands Straight Talk uses. If they match, the answer is yes. Or Google 'Verizon Moto X developer edition on straight talk'.

I googled "Verizon Moto X developer edition on straight talk" (looks something like this)
https://www.google.com/search?q=Mot...on straight talk&num=100&newwindow=1&ie=UTF-8
Then I clicked on the very first link and found the answer. And then just to confirm the answer, I clicked on a few more links. And then if I still wasn't sure, I could and would check if my phone is compatible with Straight Talk on their website. And then if I still wasn't sure, I'd give up on life.

AzznizHat is right, everyone that want's to use the Q and A section of XDA should just give up on life, because Google. Hilarious.
Hi all... I have a Moto X XT1052 India. I am going to the US and wish to take this phone along. I have already rooted it and have tried almost all of the ROMs posted in this forum (no modesty there )
Please tell me if i can make it work there with a GSM network like T-Mobile.
I want to install only a Stock based ROMs like GPE, Krypton, Eclipse etc...
Please Reply Soon, I leave next week.
LTE connection will not work since 1052 has 3/7/20 bands. USA carriers use 2/4/17...
I don't know about 3G networks, I guess you will have to find it out. Just look for "list of 3G/UMTS networks" over Google and you will find it out.
You can use T-Mobile bro. I'm also using XT1052 but I haven't rooted it yet and right now I'm on T-Mobile nothing to worry. Best of luck.

Whoa, I'm surprised. Does T-mobile use bands 3/7/20 ?? According to this it shouldn't work:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Americas
Anyways, cool if it works!
It works for mine
I was yesterday scrambling my head cause i couldnt understand why there was no mention of G4 Play on their website. Like https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/country-selector/motog the option are
MOTO G5s Plus - (2017)
MOTO G5s - (2017)
MOTO G Plus 5th Gen. - (2017)
MOTO G 5th Gen. - (2017)
MOTO G Plus 4th Gen. - (2016)
MOTO G 4th Gen. - (2016)
MOTO G Turbo Edition
MOTO G 3rd Gen. - (2015)
MOTO G 2nd Gen. - (2014)
MOTO G - (2013)
no mention of our device.on here also https://www.motorola.in/products/smartphones. I kinda feel terrified about it. Only i found the mention of G4 Play was at Software updates page: https://motorola-mobility-en-in.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/2014/action/auth .

You're paranoid, found the product page in both Spain and US sites
https://www.motorola.es/products/moto-g-play
https://www.motorola.com/us/products/moto-g-play
Don't be so alarmist. Neither Lenovo nor moto are that nefarious (except for the whole kernel shenanigans)

After a bit of google i could find their Product page, but the mistake that moto did is that it did not listed the device on the page. Its not something that i am getting paranoid about, i am just stating the facts and asking bluntly your opinion for this mistake.
P.S: Couldn't reply earlier as the thread was closed by the moderators, but he seemed to have reopened it again(thanks for this mod).

It's kind of reasonable that the mods closed this one, it presents unacurate data.
It's just 2 clicks away from the main moto page, I didn't had to google it or nothing, and sorry for the hyperbole, I wasn't trying to be rude.

Moto 'feature' device pages are often incomplete (annoying!). Really depends what gizmos/promo Lenovo is trying to push at the time. Scroll to the bottom and click on appropriate family link. Usually a better choice.

Again, that's the FEATURES list, it's never complete, and always features the latest phones, plus the ones they're pushing based on the categories and markets that they're currently targeting, going to the moto g family page there's our device. this thread is unhelpful.
