Has anyone noticed that since HTC removed and replaced the phone pad and XT9 when you go to choose one single letter when typing then go to choose another single letter, it automatically adds a space in between the letters now?
Example: e y
I can't find a setting for auto spacing anywhere either. Do you think it's an error in the way they took it out then replaced it? I've never had this issue before the update.
I'm including an annotated screenshot of this page to help explain a little better what I mean.

Hey man, I am having the exact same issue as you... It's fine for people who use QWERTY keyboard as you select each individual letter yourself... Where as when you use the phone keypad you have to select them with the prediction, of course it then thinks you've entered a word and adds the space... If anyone knows a fix for this that'd be great!! I am even willing to try and edit the HTC_IME if someone can tell me where this setting might be stored.
I am also running into HTCs famous dictionary losing words like "am" "go" "in" etc... Yes it took me a hell of a long time to type this message on my phone...

When I install the keypad I get something really weird and unwanted when I want to write a new text message.
Without the keyboard installed I can write the first couple of letters of a contact and it will give me a list of contacts that match that set of letters. however once the touch keyboard is installed I just get its own autocomplete kick in... even when I submit the letters the contact popup doesn't come up?
Does anyone know a way of keeping the contact functionality and the keyboard at the same time?
I've tried disabling XT9 reg file in one of duttys threads, still no joy
Yeah the exact same thing happened on mine and unfortunatley i couldnt find a solution either and eneded up removing it from the device, this being a real shame cause it was very useful specially for texting one handed.
A part solution is to send new text, use touch keyboard to enter first couple letters like you would before then menu / check names it should then bring up a list of ones that partially match, bit long winded though.
Anyone else found a solution to this?
Anyone found a solution to this? I'd love to be able to use the htc pad...!
can anyone recommend a better input thing that will preserve the mentioned function?
I just press the 'to ' text yo the left and use the list , tis fairly fast -- but now I must go as my battery is almost dead!
Its quicker to just to press a letter
Can't anyone think of a fix!!?
Can I just use the sip file or something from the cab?
I've found a cab to disable the XT9 and it means that you can press a letter and it will come up with contacts matching the letter... however it messes up the touch keypad and board.. they both just display all the letters and numbers. :/
so, where is the cab file then ?
Hmmm I think i saw the cab file somewhere
As the title suggests I'm having a problem with typing using the T9 on the QWERTY keyboard.
When start typing a word it gives me 4 suggestions. I can click on any of the 4 suggestions to chose it, or press space to accept the 1st suggestion.
Almost every time I click on one of the other 3 suggestions it starts writing it out where my cursor is, and then jumps to another part of the text / email / forum post etc... so that the first few letters are in the right place, and the rest is randomly placed.
Anyone else having this problem, and is there a way to get all the text in the right place?!!
I find that choosing the word from the list using the hardware button D pad on the diamond solves the problem, which I forget to do sometimes and when I point on the screen to the word I want it does what you say.
Hope this helps!
Thanks... I will try that next time!
The other option is just to type the actual word you want I suppose.
I wonder why it jumps lines?
Hi guys, got an annoying 'problem' when I text. Basically for example if I am texting words (I have predictive texts on & use the traditional keypad layout, because I am old school like that), words like 'less' will automatically choose a name from my phonebook like Jess - is there a way to stop it from picking out my phonebook names as word suggestions? It's so irritating!
Plus, I also have another weird problem where some of the letters do not show up when I am typing so I can't even just press a single letter unless predictive text is off? This issue happens on & off randomly & I don't know why..
Example: I want to text this smiley =P
But when I have typed in = and want to type in P next, that letter doesn't show, instead it only shows R Q 7.. Therefore I will have to type in a word like Pet & then erase the 'et' from it!
What's going on? Does it make sense to anybody?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

quick fix (un-check)
word suggestion ( 3rd: i never want to have...)
Thanks for the suggestion, however it still doesn't solve both issues
Never had any issues on my Neo so don't know if it's a bug or not on the Z regarding the last issue?

The P doesn't show up, & this happens with some other letters as well. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I haven't done anything differently to my text settings or anything either? But even then those settings doesn't seem to affect this problem
Anybody else know? Sorry to bump it, No one will see this on page 2
Works fine in all the layouts. Try factory reset.

Try also with an alternative keyboard, like Smart keyboard pro
I installed the RenovateRom, which is really great. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202696
But since they Removed the "select input method" notification. I dont know how to change the keyboard, i wanna use the original jellybean keyboard.
can anyone help me how to change the keyboard ?
thanks in advance.
What about if you just go into settings, language and input or something like that, then keyboard. Select keyboard and I would think you would be good.
On most keyboards, if you hold down on one of the buttons such as "spacebar" or "123" or one of ones on the bottom row, it will give you pop up a box to select your keyboard. On the stock JB keyboard, you hold the space bar to get the pop up.
hi,
i tried both. no way to change the keyboard on HTC ONE with your hints.
very strange.
someone any other idea ?
You can download something called "input select method" from the play store. I love the renovate roms but can never understand why they remove the input method selector.
Anyhow, hope that helps.

Sorry to hear that. I have a Nexus 4 (my first Android) and I thought they are all the same.
same problem here.

i have been using my htc one for a couple of days now and am finding real issues with the keyboard and the auto correct feature. I know its not that i am miss clicking the wrong letter etc but find that simple things like 'i' gets changed to something like UN? and the word for allways gets corrected to 'fir'
these are just a couple that spring to mind but it seems like some of the very simple words are getting changed to something really odd, anyone one else finding this or know how to solve it. I know with some words it will learn them and then save them for next time but this is just crazy that the simple words it gets wrong...very annoying

Possibly the language hasn't been Set correctly? I have similar issues if I forget to adjust the setting when switching between languages.

hmm, pretty sure that when i first started to use the keyboard it came up with a list of languages that were all ticked and i 'unticked' all of them but english.
How would i check i have it right though?

+1 - swiftkey is simply the best android keyboard imo
but yea what they are saying is also probably right.
disable every language apart from english, and make sure the language key shows "EN"
Make sure the language for the keyboard hasn't been changed (this is separate from picking your language during set up of the phone).
On the HOX you go to settings --> language and keyboard --> HTC Sense Input (keyboard options) --> language
Should be similar on the One.
