I bought my xperia sp a month ago and after using it till now i noticed that its so laggy.Even my brothers xperia L is smoother. So i wanna ask you guys that is this lagginess due to a software problem or is it some hardware fault.
I am asking this so i could ditch this phone if its a hardware problem.
Thnx in advance for rplying
By the way i only installed a couple of apps.
check the ram in the settings under apps. then maybe get a task killer, mine has been perfectly smooth and I've had it for a month now its even under clocked to 1ghz
Make a factory reset and try to use it without installing any app. If it's still laggy bring it back for repair.

The avantage of factory reset is that it makes the phone work "as Sony intended it to work". So if the phone is still laggy it's a good reason to bring it back for repair under warranty. Other fixes might help but if your phone really has a problem you might miss that.
Btw a month without resetting the phone is quite long so it's almost normal it starts lagging. Experience showed me that after 2 weeks without resetting some problems almost always start to appear. But maybe it's just for me because I use quite many apps.
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
I also have this issue, my device has been leggy and especially with the new 4.3 official ftf. On 4.3 I get a lot of stuttering on games like subway surfers and even flappy bird. The screen makes a stutter every 1 or 2 seconds even though the FPS are high. Also happens in Antutu but my score is high. Does anyone else have that issue? Is it normal or should I return it for repair?
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
I configured 5 Xperia SP's today side by side, exact same ftf, same method, same settings, same apps.
1 of them boots very slow, lags everywhere, did resets, nothing helped, so sometimes it can be really a hardware issue.

Download "tricksterMOD" from play store and open it ,, go to "specific" tap and then disable "GPU 3D Scaling" .

i think you just need to disable all background apps.
i tested batman and it was laggy the frst 30 seconds but then all of a sudden it settled and was smooth i think they just need some time to cache or load some stuff into the memory its a huge game after all.

No that one doesn't lag, not all games are affected, gangstar, wild blood and mc3/4 run fine, amazing Spiderman lags terribly, asphalt 7 stutters and nova 3 lags heavily during firefights. The phone has 1GB ram, that's not a problem, and a quad core processor is better than my laptop, it's gameloft and their bugs, although I've managed to avoid the unlucky devices until now :/

its not the ram that can be the issue but if you have 5 active apps that try to sync the wel like facebook twitter and so on they might cause stutters in the game.
but ill try to get my hands on the games you said and try those.
but not all can be obtained illigaly and im not buying these games just to test it hehe.
not that i can if i wanted to as i dont have a credit card and never wil.

Just look at the reviews, everyone with the 4x has the same complaints. Someone said things can be improved by flashing custonexus but as a working man I need a stable release first. As for background apps I can play mc4 with no lag even if play store is downloading in the background and with facebook running, its not a problem

Hello. I have just bought Gangstar Vegas in Google Play but I have a problem (also in any other heavy game) - the game just closes itself when I play for a couple of time. Sometimes for a minute, sometimes for ten...
I guess it's just a RAM problem because I had the same thing with GTA VC, Asphalt 7, Modern Combat 4. I have stock .141 installed with DooMKernel v7.
Iwouldn't like to try supercharger because I had too many problems with my phone - it was even slower, it was closing more background apps.
Maybe some of you had the same problem, do you have any ideas?
Tapped from The Bond Phone!
Yes, the memory is really low. You can change LMK values, so these apps won't close, but there is not enough to keep other apps and services alive.
When you change the values, make adj and minfree read only. Because these values are handled by Android.
I think heavy weight apps are 3, foreground are 0 adj.
It happened to me ONCE. It usually runs great, no issues. I HAVE removed some bloatware though. If you're sure its the ram just use developer options to limit background process while playing, personally I think its same old same old Gameloft and their bugs the same thing happens on IOS

That's right, it's rare but still happens.
By the way I forced myself to try supercharger again. The newest version caused so many problems I got pissed of again... The phone was REALLY slow and was overheating pretty much even when idle. Gangstar was slow as snail and there was many reboots... Also the phone was always on the highest frequency and was always doing "something" (70% of CPU usage by the kernel) even when it was freshly rebooted. So after another disappointment I un-supercharged my phone and guess what? My phone started to be REALLY FAST! Even faster than before. Gangstar is now almost perfectly smooth but there are still some exits but surely less of them.
Thanks for the help anyway!

Supercharger doesn't do much on newer phones, only tweak that helps is reducing thermal throttle but because of our rubbish battery this can cause reboots because of a fatal drop in voltage. 12420000 is a good value, sudden death still happens when battery gets to its last 3rd though

So I decided to write this post because I've haven't find any helpful posts about it. Sometimes I wanna take full advantage of this quad-core device
and enjoy HD games and when I say that I don't mean on sitting on it for 5hours and expect it to run all the games perfect n smooth but I wonder
why on my device (full stock) in games like gta vice city, gta III, real racing 3 even sometimes asphalt 7 I experience frame issues especially gta
vice city which I expected to run smooth when I lower graphics a bit i get so bad frame drops and the games like n. o. v. a 3 and modern combat
4 run perfectly smooth with decent Fps. So first I thought guess gta isn't maybe well optimized for xperia z but then when I searched over YouTube for some gameplay of same games they ran alot smoother on same stock version of xperia z. So what's the difference I've downloaded all the latest versions of these games restarted phone before running and disabled stamina battery mode but still the same thing. Always the same frame issuses and they are not just a little ones sometimes makes game so un enjoyable and leggy especially gta vice city. So I would appreciate any helpful opinion or advice or am I really starting to regret for getting this phone not just because few games Lagg only on my device
there are many other stuff but I won't write about them in this post ( I am running all the games from internal memory not using SD card yet) So
I wonder do I really need to root my phone and flash it with some light pure preformamce custom room to get decent preformamce of this games?
Thanks for reading and looking forward for some helpful answers thanks.
That highly depends on what apps you have installed into your phone.
Have you test with only the stock rom with default apps ?
Hmm
I consider about factory reset since to be honest most of my internal memory is filled with games I am testing and I have like only 10%free space
even less but I don't think it affects so much of preformamce of games 1gb of free space should be enough I guess as for other apps I don't really have alot of them downloaded most of them came with the phone itself. Since I am not really into all of the custom roms and all that expert I only thought about factory reset and getting decent class sd card but thought since ppl on YouTube used stock room and got smooth let's say decent
Gameplay guess I should too well. I'll wait for some more replies before factory also I am a bit worried bcs I read a post from one guy that there could some software
Problem with the phone on some1 else post that had the same problem with certain games so I am very thankful on fast thankful advices

It's affect the performance of course, also many process may occur if you have a ton of useless app on your phone, seriously 1gb free space? Ridiculous... I can't believe that you need all that space and you play all of your that games all the time.
Well the internal memory is 11,73gb with out sd card I've downloaded few hd games and few casual for testing and maybe putting video of gameplay on yt well yeah and one hd game takes 2gb like nova guess I am going for factory reset and I'll try to download gta only and see how it preforms

The lag in the games what I guess is caused by the underclocking of ur cpu due to the heating and stuff..in my xz,when I start the game everything runs smooth but after an hour or so,when the phone heats up..sometimes I feel a little lag, just a little..I play in a cooler place, the lags reduce a lot..well,every game I've ever played lagged at some point..

Oh, yes, unlocked bootloader needed.
Anyhow, unlocking the bootloader doesn't mean voiding your warranty forever. You can lock it again before sending the phone for repairs if it ever needs service.
Did any of the users find the phone lag at any point of time? Please help me out with this. I have heard that the phone to lags, is it true? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was reluctant to believe that it was laggy. Since it uses the same chipset as the nexus 4 or a better version. How is the heavy games performing? I know there plenty of videos regarding gaming reviews. But I just want a views from a user of xperia zr. Since its a little on the costly side for me and want to make sure it's worth it.
not so laggy . my zr is smooth when running apps . a little bit laggy when play heavy games ,but not so obvious . this is a great phone with a little cost :fingers-crossed:

You mean the Game lags are not much noticeable? I would be installing Asphalt 7, if I get this phone. How would xperia zr stand up to nexus 4 in performance section?
Mine is laggy, not all the time but if you keep screen on for about 10 minutes and launching apps after apps, it gets really laggy especially on Chrome. I even have display issues where black screen are displayed on certain apps for awhile before showing up. Not sure if it's because I have too many sync data and background apps going on but I don't understand how anyone can use a smartphone these days without a minimum of such things going on

That sounds quite bad, mine definitely does not do that. However, I have to say Chrome is laggy on any kind of phone, I would never use it, especially because of that. I use Dolphin these days.
It will drop frames in heavy gaming because of overheat. it works well in gaming as long as you can keep it cool.
there is not lag in daily uses.
even Asphalt 8 can run smoothly on XZR
Well the phone is kinda brand new so.. in this price range its expected to be smooth and fast no doubt about it. The 2 gigs and 1.5 quad boy do the job.Have the phone from more than a month and I can tell you if u have the money go for it. the heating is abit ****ty when you play heavy games more than 30 min but every smatphone heats so..its not a big deal

I have been using my zr for about two months. Lag is virtually non existent. I am happy with the performance. Dead trigger plays very well. Only problems are heating during heavy gameplay like deadtrigger or using chrome and those flaps covering headphone jack and usb port.

I think it's just some games that just resource hogging and seems to cause those delay and black screens.
Sony roms are the most laggy roms ever (Specially if you have many background app running!) So expect some lag when connecting to internet
Not laggy. try factory reset.
Can anyone let me know the below temperatures for Xperia T CPU running stock rom is ok or not ok?
idle : upto 36C ish
on slight use : above 40C
on longer usage of basic apps such as whatsapp, viber, facebook: between 40 to 50C
browser: around 55C (browsing xda took it over 60C)
repost
CPU temperature is not so important, it will always be that "hot" while being on use. Battery temperature is the thing that should be important to you.
I think these values are ok, as long as your phone does not shutdown unexpectedely (with the aproppriate "Shutting down" mesaage box) - that usualy means that the temperature of both CPU and the battery is way too high and any other operations may result in their permanent damage. If you don't experience such situations then I think you shouldn't be worried about anything
Anyway I have to tell you that IMHO this phone has, in fact, some "problems" with overheating or at least with pretty high temperature than it should be normally. But I don't care, after two years of really heavy usage - it still works and it never disappointed me, I hope you won't be too
Thermal throttling will start at around 65-70C, at 80 the phone will shutdown.
These functions are hard coded in kernel, so dont worry.

Battery temperature hasn't gone beyond 40C if I remember. Only started to monitor recently. I've been using this just over two years too and never felt any heat when using it for normal usage on 4.0 and 4.1 stock roms.
Only felt it on 4.3 and downgrading after trying 4.3 uk rom 2nd time, even 4.1 now produces noticeable heat which is what's bugging me. Really regret for upgrading to 4.3 for a 2nd time :'(
The initial downgrade was done through SEUS as 4.3 wasn't released for UK then and had the blue triangle icon on some bootups but no other issue or heat.
Which rom do you use now on your device?
40C is really low value for the battery. Trust me, you really shouldn't be worried about the temperature
I was using the newest build of OmniROM until yesterday. I flashed the newest release of CM11 and I'm not disappointed.
ok, thanks. I am trying the Omega v2 rom since yesterday, but it seems to make it much warmer so might head back to 4.1
What helped me on my Xperia V is rooting, downloading No-Frills Cpu Controp and changing governor to ondemand (it was interactive by default).

thanks, just installed the app. It seems to be 'ondemand' by default. :/
Just finished setting up 4.1 stock rom, and a little bit of usage heats it up very quickly. With the heat, battery level goes down very quickly too

Well it happens on my Xperia V too no matter what I do, but since I've been using a silicone case I don't notice it anymore and it doesn't burn my fingers like it used to. Maybe try changing governor to interactive...I'm using it now and the phone seems pretty cold

I've been using a TPU gel case since I bought the phone... and never felt any heat (apart from when trying out 4.3 but yet less than present level of heat). So seems it took 2 years for the phone to start this 'heating up' mode. I am trying to understand if it is a software issue or something to do with hardware.

I've read that almost all Sony phones heat up so it's probably a hardware issue...but since rooting and uninstalling all bloatware and disabling some of the google's services, I noticed my phone doesn't really heat up that much anymore.

Even I have rooted and disabled almost all the bloatware including some google apps (actually removed them from the system/app folder itself). This was how it was prior to 4.3 testing and had no issues. Only heated slightly for a YouTube video or so. Removed the same list of items this time around as well, but for even apps like whatsapp it heats..so something is definitely wrong... it remains cool on idle, hence not a background service that causes it.

Then it might be a hardware issue :/
My phone used to overheat on 4.3, but on 4.1 it's pretty cool.

that's exactly how mine was
wondering if there is some clash in the internal memory area.. (which happened when using flashtool to downgrade... from 4.3 this time). Before used SUS as 4.3 wasn't released for UK and it repaired to 4.1
When i play CoC with data mobile the temperature become very high...this can damage any hardware components?
Because i changed the battery two times for random reboots and i think that some components are broken
