I'll only say that perhaps Google promised them the N6 as part of the sale of Motorola? Eh? No?

Nexus devices are hardly big sellers. Unless they are planning on providing these directly to many, many carriers, it will continue to be a small player.

It doesn't compare to any flagship device as far as sales are concerned. No manufacturer is going to use it to make money.

No...but us who root and buy nexuses and what not are notorious for advising others of what phones they should buy. If Lenovo (Motorola phones in north America anyway I bet) gets a thumbs up from us guys cause they did well with the nexus 6....our word of mouth will help their sales. And legitimize their reputation.

just a rumors only
Is it gonna be called 'Nexus 6'?
I'm a bit confused, so, after Nexus 6, will they call it Nexus 7? Like the 7" Nexus tablet?
I think this is why they would remove Nexus branding. The naming is confusing at this level.

I'm wondering how much it will cost here. Gnex cost about the same as the Nexus 4 16gb so should cost list 17 to 18k right?

Factor in a few costs like shipping taxes and profit of the reseller and most likely 20-25k. Still a good deal at that in my opinion. Of course I'm just speculating.

there have been rumours that both globe and smart are about to provide lte service in our country, don't you think that with this device lacking 4g would eventually be a big draw back for us in the future? Nexus devices have been really slow around here. So my best bet would probably getting one from SG or HK.

Right now the LTE in the philippines seems to be a running joke. They arent covering all of manila just different buildings or small areas. I dont get it. They should LTE the whole thing or at least the majorly populated areas. Plus the LTE cost is high with extremely low bandwidth caps making it useless

a few online sellers have it for 23k, not sure about their authenticity though...
TipidCP Nexus 4 thread
Actually, they have even problems with their 3G network. In case you forgot, our 3G (HSDPA and HSPA+)is only at 2Mbit max which is so fvckin' lame! In terms of Smart's so-called "LTE," it can only reach up to 15Mbit which is the normal speed of other country's 3G (HSPA+) or even their 3G is way faster than that! Mind you, their LTE at that time should be fast because it was only a test and there's no one using the signal except for them.
Our telco's aren't ready to cater LTE services.

Im drooling for this phone. Will sell my Onex X for this as soon as it becomes available.
I have a theory as to why the Nexus 4 is out of stock, and for such a long time. This may or may not have been mentioned before (probably has) but I just wish to discuss it. Remember, this is purely speculation.
The reason LG has only made around 400,000 handsets and starved production was due to their own flagship, the LG Optimus G. Every single thing about this phone, is IDENTICAL to the Nexus 4, besides the fact the N4 is rocking stock stock android and the aesthetics are slightly different. The N4 has an advantage among the developer community with it being able to be torn apart and tweaked and tinkered with, unlike the OG which LG is still being a little b____ about the bootloader on many of their recent phones.
The 16GB LG Optimus G is $800 here in Australia, and the 16GB Nexus 4 is $400. You do the math.
I don't know if LG's actuaries are idiots or something, but they would have known about the guaranteed success of the next Nexus device, going on the sales figures of all the other devices. LG thought that making a tiny amount of profit on every Nexus device and in turn increasing their companies reputation in the mobile business, was worse than not making ANY profit on their CRAPBOX 3000 (LG Optimus G). I can see where they are coming from, as they don't want their spectacular flagship to be left in the dust with full stock, but zero sales so basically I think they were just chucking a cry or something.
SO DON'T HATE ON GOOGLE FOR THE LACK OF NEXUS'
What you can hate Google for, is choosing LG in the first place. Yeah, they may of felt generous and were trying to support them but at the cost of their own company getting hated? Why didn't they just buy LG like they did with Motorola, and that would be the end of it? When I heard of the new Nexus Device, I celebrating because for some reason I thought they were going to choose HTC for production (who knows why). Nek minnit, they choose some struggling company that either can't or won't keep up with production.
This may of looked like a run-out-of-the-mill rant, but this was some, high-quality, researched ranting skills to pay the bills.
Discuss.

I fail to see how you guys can always come up with such gossip.
Google has made contracts with LG and they are producing the amount Google demanded.
Whether it was Google ordering just a tiny amount of phones, or LG can't keep up with production, due to manufacturing errors or anything else, we will never know.
Also, LG is not a bad hardware manufacturer. They do have the capability to spit out hundreds of thousand devices a month, and they've proven that they can.
For your info: devices produced in October: 75k
Devices produced in December: 400k
As you can see, they can definitely keep up with the demand, it's probably just Google ordering only tiny amounts of it.
A contract breach, as in simply not delivering the amount of phones Google demanded, would have legal consequences for them, so I guess they will be thinking twice before hampering the production.
Cheers.
Lg has good hardware? Hmmmm...i don't know. Have you hold Lg L9 or L7, its a pure piece of ****. Quality zero. Maybe they build good displays and parts, but housing of every device is ****y. TVs also.

Lol, do you think "hundreds of thousands of devices a month" is anywhere near enough for a $600 phone priced at $350? Try several millions a month.
Oh and those production numbers were just speculation (albeit a logical one). No one knows the exact numbers.
Why does everyone blame LG? Is there a valid excuse for Samsung taking forever to restock the Nexus 10?

Yes, 400k might not be enough. But don't expect the nexus to sell like the iPhone or a Samsung galaxy. There simply is no marketing at all for the nexus. Companies like Apple and Samsung invest millions every year into marketing. Have you ever seen a nexus 4 ad other than on YouTube?
Probably not. The nexus' demographic is mostly tech enthusiasts.
I don't think LG is intentionally halting the manufacturing process, i mean they would be really stupid to do so, some of of you seem to forget that one of the biggests ways to sell is having quantity over price, if LG sells 5 million Nexus 4 that would make them a ton more money than selling 1 million Optimus G  , also it doesn't hurt that a lot more people are talking good stuff (regarding quality) about them, that could never hurt a company .
What LG did on purpose (in my opinion) was refusing to provide a 32 gb version of the phone , so if people want more storage (and LTE) they should buy the Optimus G

"telly" suggest the UK or somewhere there which makes sense as someone else says the "Tube" and such which is London's subway .
In the USA however, there is 0 ads on TV for the Nexus 4, there are some for the Nexus 7 but NEVER has there been one for the Nexus 4 or 10. Not even in the newspaper other than reviews and such mentioning it. Maybe that's why they don't however as they've already got tons of (positive) press here. In general, you advertise to get your name out there and build brand, once you are out there and everyone knows your name you tend to save those ad dollars.
After hearing all the bad news about execs leaving HTC because the companys not doing well etc, etc!
Thought it's time for some good news:
HTC is close to 5 Million units sold (Shipped to carrier's) thats 50% of what Samsung claims.
The fact that HTC is having shortages is proof that those #'s are mostly in consumer's hands rather than retailers.

...yet.
This is still in the rumor mill. And it really does sound like it's gonna happen. They may not have released it to Verizon right yet because the demand would crush any opportunity of them meeting it. That being said, next month when the component providers kick up their orders, and HTC starts getting more produced, it's going to explode when it's been predicted to be released on Verizon. This will be huge.

Supply and demand, Verizon should just announce it already. Remember the long lines Apple releases first created. It would be great if an HTC device could drive the same traffic to stores. If Verizon releases and says quantities are limited it very well could cause great success with a limited supply should the current devices in the market on other carriers (like the one I have on Sprint) continue to amaze everyone I show.

Are you happy with your current phone? If so, wait for the Nexus 4 (2013).
(Side note: Why does everyone insist on calling the next Nexus phone the Nexus 5? The number refers to the screen size, not the iteration; observe "Nexus 7 (2013)" instead of "Nexus 8", and with Google having stuck to the same phone screen size for 2 generations straight and then reaffirmed their affinity for this screen size with the Moto X, I'm pretty sure that the next Nexus won't be 5", and it won't be called the Nexus 5.)
Even if you decide at that point that you'd still want a N4 instead of a N4-2013, the market at that point will be flooded by people selling their N4s as they upgrade to N4-2013s.

Idk anyone got any history with motorola phones and how they handle phones..like nexus 5 was discontinued after nexus 6 was released.. So thats why im wondering
Thanks in advance!!

I'm not sure what they "usually" do, but I waited to get a Moto X 2013 until after the 2014 was announced, and they no longer sold them.
Turns out, I'm glad I got the 2014 X, but I would have gotten the 2013 if it had been available to me.
Given that most of these are custom assembled via Moto Maker, I would guess that once the 15 goes up for sale the 14 will stop being available. Whatever stock the hand on hand might end up on discount sites in a few months.
Thanks... Im not sure what to do.... Do i risk and wait...?

What back do you have with the G4? I was thinking of getting leather with the Moto X Style but the slipperly factor is making me edge towards the Silicon back which is meant to be really grippy.
Never felt or held a leather phone so I have no idea how they feel.
I have the ceramic back (non-leather) but with a case i mean slip as in its too heavy for my hand... And wide... Id be more inclined and happy towards my g4 if it had cyanogenmod or aosp...

With the Moto X 2013 what they did last year in the US was slap black or white backs on them and sold them to resellers who then sold them on Amazon and Ebay. Now last year was different in that they closed the Texas assembly plant. This year they are assembled in China so we will see what happens.
