I have an Xperia TL phone, the AT&T version and I have had a problem that I have not been able to figure out for quite some time. So here is what happened, I rooted my TL and started to download root apps, then I happened to come across one that said boot animation changer, I thought oh cool i can change my boot animation so I downloaded it. once I had gotten it and messed with it i changed the boot anim and started checking random ones out. the first two worked fine, but then the 3rd one i tried did this strange glitch. The glitch is that it starts up normal and goes through the custom boot animation, but then the picture doesn't go away. The phone goes to the lockscreen and all, but for some reason the last picture of the boot animation is like stuck over it so you can't see anything. I can unlock the phone and all (I know because access through usb then works) but still can't see anything but the last boot picture. any ideas? I couldn't find anything online anywhere near to this problem, i have no idea where to start

Although the various Android boot screens are very colorful and exciting I was wondering if it was possible to display the processes being executed during boot instead of the boot animation. If so please post how in this thread!
the Android kernel does not report/print/output its loading status.
Are you sure? If you connect ADB Debugger during booting I can see ton of code whistle by, it's not the same as you'd get with linux install on a PC but could provide quite a nice alternative to boot animation Just need someone to redirect that output to the screen...

That would require someone reworking 'ze code that handles boot animations to handle a live stream. Although crazy difficult, it would be awesome if possible.
Old school
The G1 would display a few seconds of code back in the JF ROM days when u went to boot into recovery. It was probably a random fluke occurrence on my end for not holding the home button long enough or something. At that time I was not to Android smart then, if i still had my G1 i would attempt to see if i could replicate it. I may still have some of his ROMs backup up on my server somewhere if someone wants to attempt to prove me wrong lol. I do agree with the OP it would be nice to have a live feed of the boot code instead of the animation.

That was actually just JF calling logcat as soon as it starts booting recovery and quitting when everything was fully loaded... :-(
That would probably be slow as hell... and if it wasn't, you'd never be able to read a single line.
There is a live wallpaper that does this, though. :O
Verbose boot would be pretty cool, in a geeky kinda way. Useless, but cool.
Has anyone ever ran into a situation where the UI locks up after a boot? I keep searching through threads and can't find anything. I'm not sure if it's something I have installed or if there is actually something wrong with the device. I had a nook previously and never encountered this problem but on the new one I just got (ebay refurb) the problem just keeps coming back.
Basically, it boots just fine and starts to show the Launcher but then the screen goes black and leaves the soft buttons at the bottom. The only way to recover is to shut it down and start it back up.
The funny thing is it doesn't do it all the time... sometimes it boots just fine and never locks up while in the OS... it's only on boot it does this.
I've tried multiple different versions of cm7 and am getting the same thing on all versions. I've tried different kernels and stock speeds and it still happens.
Any help or advice would be appreciated!
Hmmm... well after hours of troubleshooting I think I pinpointed it to beautiful widgets
PLEASE HELP
well i just installed continuum v6.1 rom everything works awesome but when i boot up i get a weird glitchy looking screen which also appears sometimes when i start the camera app (the app is fine and can take photos but where i'm supposed to see the image there's the glitchy image, i can access the options and everything though).
This is really bugging me as i've flashed quite a few roms already and i like this one and don't want to get rid of it for such a trivial thing i'm new to all these stuff have barely been doing it for 2 weeks (1 with the captivate) and i don't want to have to keep looking for a good rom as i bricked my phone earlier (scared the **** out of me as i bought it unlocked and it doesn't have guarantee)
i'd keep it as it is but this is my dad's phone so i'm sure he'll mind
edit: just noticed it also happens when playing a some youtube videos
help would be appreciated... thanks
im guessing you dont have gingerbread bootloaders...which means not only that weird screen when booting, but also you cannot boot into recovery at all.

thanks problem solved
I did my usual daily reboot (KitKat periodcially causes the connection with AIO cellular to drop) and saw a winter theme boot logo sequence in place of the usual Motorola world globe. Anyone else see this? Something already embedded or was this a push since yesterday?

It was already on the phone... Scheduled to switch to the winter animation today.

Thanks! Although seeing it doesn't diminsh the pain at having to reboot so often.
i rebooted specifically just to see this boot animation , unfortunately that was the last thing i've seen as i'm currently crashing and staring at the verizon logo forever in the boot screen. it looks like i will need to RSD back to stock .
Weird that this happened , i was unrooted too.
Hi hello howdy!
I'm going to skip the foreplay cose the action here is pretty weird and you'll want to get right in, trust me.
I've a Galaxy S3 Mini GT-8190L, that reboots itself, after it has booted up, and I entered the sim pin and lock pattern I've from seconds to 5 min of grace before the phone restarts itself. I have tried two different batteries and the problem persists. I went and decided to rule out hardware problems (power bttn) and after some tinkering, ruled that out too. So now my best guess is firmware.
The phone is not rooted, does not have recovery mode installed, and is running stock 4.1.2 jelly bean with TouchWiz, no mods, no hack-y stuff, your old regular samsung s3 mini.
I tried installing CM11 with odin, and didn't work. But not because odin threw an error, no, that went on perfectly according to the program. But when the phone booted up, the rom was still stock, nothing changed, and it rebooted itself briefly. Weird. So then I thought "well, maybe at least the recovery mode is there now" since it supposedly was a package install. But no, when I tried to boot onto recovery the phone gets stucked on the boot screen with the samsung brand and model of the phone, and then restarts itself, this happens like four times and then the phone boots normally, the OS starts, everything loads and then goes on to restarting. So this was not a solution either.
Next I though, well lets just install the recovery, no, that didn't work, odin said that the install was successful but it was not. Tried with odin 3.04, .07 and .09, tried CW and TWR, neither of them load, as before, when trying to boot to recovery the phone displays the splash and the reboots itself like four times before starting up the OS.
Next I though well, lets try to root this thing, at this point I was just trying anything to see if anything sticked, but nothing, tried SuperOneClick, and no. Wanted to try TowelRoot but that uses an apk. I tried vRoot against my best judgement, but that didn't work, but not because of the reasons you might think, it did install, the phone managed to stay on for enough time for it to get running, but when it restarted, there was no app there, it was as if nothing was installed just a few second ago. I thought "huhh? That's really weird". So I went and did some testing on this matter.
It turns out that no matter what I do, I can install an app, delete 5 apps, change settings, and nothing sticks, when the phone restarts it goes back to the way it was, its like the phone lost the short memory and its like that Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's movie, 50 First Dates. The phone rollsback to the state it was when everything began.
I even tried to change something quick, and restart myself the phone to see if that would make the change stick, but no, that didn't work either.
So, I came up with a brilliant idea, look up a similar case on internet, 'cose you know, it has to have happened to someone else before me. But this is so weird that looking it up is a challenge by itself. I tried a few things here and there but nothing does it. So now I'm here writing my sci-fi story looking for some feedback on how can this story be ended without killing any of the characters, I want everyone to survive and work again. You know, happy endings.
Any ideas on what can be the problem? Seen anything like this before?
