kitkat ruu.exe needed if available - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Am getting an error 155 when attempting to flash original stock ruu.exe. I have re-locked my device and it is S-OFF and still the error. I've used this ruu in the past without incident. Any link to a kitkat ruu.exe that I can run and try to see if that works? Thanks.

you will need to post the output of ''fastboot getvar all'' minus imei/sn if you want help.
Also a link to the ruu you are trying to use or its complete name

Wouldn't it make sense to start a thread for a specific problem? It makes it easier when someone with a similar problem searches for it on the forums. That way, later you can refer to this thread when someone runs into the same troubles, instead of linking to a 40 page thread and say "Weed through pages 31-39 for the resolution"

Anyway, I finally got it to find the device, but it said it wasn't the proper ROM and had to abort...how do I get the right RUU tool?
That is dependant on your fastboot output. You need the RUU to match or exceed your main version and have to have the same CID.

I Agree with @SaHiLzZ, it is very difficult for everyone to help you when information on the progress you have made are scattered in many threads...

There is already good guides for all the issues you encounter, so chances we will refer someone to this thread are slim.
What RUU are you trying to flash, can you post a link? Also an updated ''fastboot getvar all'' of your phone would help.
What OS are you using now? Still on your MAC? If on Windows which version are you using? XP, 7, 8.0, 8.1 ?

With s-off you can flash a ruu either with a locked/re-locked or unlocked bootloader.
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip <name_of_file>.zip
fastboot flash zip <name_of_file>.zip
fastboot reboot

Gave the second command, and it started to write a whole bunch of files. 10 minutes later it said finished, and I rebooted. It boot looped a few times and was giving me the same crash at the homescreen. I was about the throw it across the room when it said "Activate device failed, click here to do it manually"
Followed the steps and the first text message came in, so now I'm installing Slimkat. It's given me a few errors now that it wasn't giving before, but I'll work through it and update.

Trying to go back to stock. Failing...

Hello everyone,
I've been trying to get back to stock on my Sprint HTC One. I have tried using the RUU in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2795856 and no luck. I am HBoot 1.55, S-ON, and running a stock rooted rom that is on 4.4.2
So here is what I tried. I relock my bootloader and proceed to run the RUU, but 2 times I get stuck on 4% so I have no luck. I tried getting S-Off and maybe that could help me bring back to stock, but that did not work either. Really need to get this phone back to Stock, any help is appreciate it, no one responded in that thread so I'm asking here. Thanks in advance.
You'll need to flash the Full Firmware first.
If it still gets stuck try a different USB Port...USB 2 work best or try a different PC.

Use This Firmware
You will need to re-lock your bootloader (fastboot oem lock)
Flash firmware (follow the video)
Run the RUU and you will be back to stock.
You do not need to be s-off to do either.

Yes sir. Relocked, only that at the top it says "security warning." I renamed the folder to firmware.zip and it is on the platform tools folder. Did all the commands, but the second time I run the same command (like it says on the video) it gives me the error I mentioned and I don't even get the loading bar on the phone. Tried 3 times, no luck.

So Hboot 1.55, S-ON, and can't go back to stock?
Go to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658910
Download that RUU. Now, go into fastboot and relock your bootloader. Flash the firmware on that thread through fastboot, there's a video there showing you how. After that is done, go back to fastboot and you can run the RUU you downloaded from that thread. That's what I did and worked like a charm. Recommended if you use USB 2.0

Hi. You mean flash 4.06.651.4 version at first and then flash 5.05.651.2 version ? Is it update HBOOT from 1.55 to 1.56? What about warning message on that thread "***IMPORTANT NOTE*** you must first update your hboot to 1.56 to flash this 4.06 RUU, see full firmware below ( I recommend being s-off before doing so)"
I have. Hboot 1.55, S-on, Custom ViperOne 7.0.1

Just flash firmware 4.06.651.4 (you'll be on hboot 1.56) and then run that RUU. Don't worry about 5.05.651.2 firmware or RUU.
Make sure you relock your bootloader before anything.
Whenever the RUU is done and you're back in stock, you'll get the OTAs to 5.05.651.2, just telling you exactly what I did that worked, I also had a lot of trouble getting back to stock/unrooting.

Error 155 usually means you are trying to run a RUU that is not compatible with your phone.

afaik, we need to be at least on kitkat firmware (at least 6.xx.xxx.x). to be able to flash lollipop RUU (7.xx.xxx.x)
Try to flash the 7.23.502.1 stock firmware first (complete firmware not firmware from ota) then the 7.23.502.1 RUU or try an older RUU like the 3.17.502.3 version.
Update 3.17.502.3 successful but stuck there no 7.23.502.1

I have tried several times making sure the android drivers have been installed. Should I check for some special drivers?

[Q] HELP needed, HTC One Soft Bricked and RUU's wont work

hello guys.
i had an htc one m7 ul for a while and all was great until the network stopped working.
so i decided to flash an RUU exe for my device which is HTC___J15
the process did not finish and it gave the error "failed zip" on the fastboot screen.
i rebooted the phone and it went back to the fastboot screen and it never got back in the system, this was two days ago.
yesterday i tried to flash the htc___j15 ruu zip file and it gave me the signature verification failed error.
it says tampered and reclocked *security warning* and my hboot version is 1.61 and os-7.19.401.51
after some reaserch im discovering it says s-on .
is there any way to put it to s-off or downgrade the hboot from 1.61
tried revone, rumrunner and all those did not work

If your version main is 7.19.401.51 then the only RUU you can flash is the 7.19.401.51 version. You don't need S-OFF to flash this RUU and fyi, S-OFF can only be acheived using the Sunshine S-OFF exploit on this hboot version. Hboot can only be downgraded when already S-OFF.
If you need more help, pleas post the output of "fastboot getvar all" with your next post (hide imei/serial)
The 7.19.401.51 RUU can be found here at post #2 and instruction how to flash at post #1.

At first you need a running system cause sunshine is an app based service. After that you can download the latest sunshine app and install it, then the app will test your device if it is possible to make it s-off. If it can, in the second step you have to buy a license for your device within sunshine (about 20€/25$). After sucessfully payment your device will reboot and sunshine will set it to s-off.(The license is bind to your device and you can use it on this device as often as you want, for other devices you need to buy another license)
