[Q] WiFi question - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm not sure how to ask this.
Is the WiFi throttled somehow on this phone?
Or can your isp tell that you're using a mobile device or, vice versa, your cell carrier knows when you're on WiFi and throttle to make you use data instead?
I'm getting .2mb download speed on WiFi and 22mb on speed test.
YouTube buffers almost every 10 seconds.
ZERO problems on 3g/hsdpa
let me know if more info is needed....

7310 dropping wifi any answers

My tablet is consistantly losing internet 8-10 times daily. The signal is strong but greyed out. To regain connection I have to turn wifi on and off. I also have the the wifi set to never off, stock everything, reset factory wipe too. Any help would be great otherwise a return is my future.
Router: Vizio XRW100 802.11a/b/g/n WPA security

Not so much info about your setup, however try switching channel in router. To many neighbours with wifi can make it hard. I prefer the 5 GHz band, great performance and less traffic, and the 8.9 supports it so give it a try.
Try a wifi scanner from the market and see which channels are in use in your surroundings.
Giving your suggestion a try will let you know how it goes.

Gray icon does not mean that wifi has disconnected. It means sync is experiencing problems.

Switched to the 5 ghz and problem. I have a AcrA500 that has no issues. Must be defective.

Ok I am not sure the A500 supprts 5GHz, as a last resort before returning the Samsung you could look for a firmware update for your router.
Good luck
Ok so i hard reset my router and had the 8.9 the first device to connect to my network. Set the tablet to turn wifi off while screen is off. So far after 8 hours only had trouble 1 time connecting to my wifi (after sleep it couldnt findn my wifi). Hopefully this sticks

Connectivity issues like the gs4

Anyone having issues keeping LTE or a wifi signal? I had this on my gs4 and it infuriated me. Happening Again On The note. I didn't have the issue with the HTC one or note 2.
Using wifi analyzer the wifi signal looks good. Idk why it's being so slow and unstable. Newer linksys n router.

yeah i think im having same issues where my wifi tends to disconnect then reconnect.

Yup. I turned off the setting where it turns off wifi completely if the signal is unstable. Kept doing it while using my chromecast so it disconnected from it. None of my other devices have an issue

I turned off the wifi scanning and I got a message about my wifi signal being bad even though I'm 10 feet in a direct line to my router. I also cannot keep an LTE signal around my house, but my S4 manages to without issues. Turning on airplane mode will lock an LTE signal for about 2 minutes and it reverts back to 4G.

I turned that off as well. Having it off or on hasn't affected much it seems. I'm also very close to my router with nothing blocking. I don't get it, thought the plastic was supposed to improve connectivity?
Like I said, I've only had issues on this and the gs4. Girlfriend has a gs3 which doesn't have issues.

Maybe you just keep getting a lemon device? Mine seems to work fine and my S4 did too
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk 5
Possibly. I read about others having these issues on the gs4. Obviously not everyone it would be my luck to keep getting lemons.

LTE
Yep, got mine yesterday (10.5) and it wont hold onto LTE. I can turn on and off Airplane mode and it will lock onto LTE immediately, but after about a minute, it drops back to 4G. NONE of my other phones did this (S3, S4, HTC 1, Optimus G Pro, Skyrocket, etc...)

Anybody on ATT Note 3 having issues with torrent download speeds?

Anybody use their AT&T N3 to torrent files? If so how are the speeds?
On the T-Mobile Note 3 either on mobile data or wifi, speeds seemed to be throttled.
No such issues on Note 2 or any prior android device.
Just wanted to know if it was an issue with the Note 3 itself or network issue.
same issue on att N3
Our favorite GSM carrier probably altered this somehow, because they don't want large files downloaded over their precious network.
I use t torrent & download speeds seem normal to me. I get 4-5MBs over wifi at my house

ttorrent working fine for me also

I fixed it!
Ok so I had this issue. Now I don't.and it IS knox So here's a shoot-from-the-hip not very descriptive solution. Go to settings. More. App manager. All. And shut off anything that says "vpn" , "knox", or "lookout security"
Then download a torrent. Your speeds should jump from 50kbps to 4-5 mbps.

[Q] Whats the fastest WiFi speed of the M8?

So I recently upgraded my internet speed too 300 mbps (I now work for time Warner so my services are free), now my laptop can pull the full 300 but my phone maxed out at 40ish.
Is that the top speed of WiFi or is speedtest's app whack?

I get 65 with a dual band n router, I don't think you'll ever see anything above 65 with an n or ac router.
You should be able to pull higher than 65 thru the Wi-Fi on the phone. I can almost swear that I remember reading somewhere that this phone has a dual MiMo WiFi chip, which should allow for speeds up to 300.
You are testing your laptop speed via WiFi, right? Not hardwired?

there seems to be some correlation to speed and internet security type,
my results are.
WPA2 tkip 54mps
WPA2 AES 54mps
WPA2 AES&TKIP 65mps
No security 135mps

Yup laptop is WiFi. Maybe I'll change encryption method and see the results

The fastest I've seen with my M7 was 115mbps, when I was paying for the faster service thru Comcast. This was on a 5ghz ac channel.
The fastest I've seen with my M8 so far has been 61mbps, but that's because I'm only paying for 50mbps right now.

I got 150 playing on my 5ghtz network
Moral of the story change to 5ghz then?

Mine connects at 433mbps and easily does 100mbps (my ISP speed) on a speed test. I have a really good AC router though.
Km found out my Arris tg862 modem is 2.4 N only
Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk 2
Mine also connects to my Asus RT-AC68U at 433Mbps and I get 150-175 Mbps up 20-25Mbps down on my 150/20 connection.
I'm almost at the 300mbps. Doing some tweeking.

Tmobile signal boost?

So im on tmobile for a week now and my signal runs from 1-2 bars (3 if im lucky for some reason) and im on LTE right now but somtimes im on G, E and H even if im outside. I checked Tmobiles coverage on their website and i saw that im in a place where the signal should be "Excellent".
Is there i need to configure on my z1 to get that "excellent" signal or its on them?
I live in Reno NV if u want to see the coverage

I've been reading threads on several devices about Tmobile's speed and signal strength all day because I want to switch to Tmobile but don't know which device to use.but from what I can tell there are 2 different APN settings you can use and several different settings you have to enable/disable to get the right combination to get the optimal speeds and signal strength. But, one of the more puzzling things is that the type of SIM card you use also makes a difference....such as, if it was cut down from a regular SIM (weak) or if its a "prepay unlimited" SIM or just "unlimited" (the latter is better). Thats all I can deduce so far so you may want to look on xda at other devices and how they perform on Tmobile..

Sometimes T-Mobile has some network problems. I remember weeks ago that the whole network in my city crashed. You should try to call their support first and ask them if they currently have problems with their network.
