Hi,
My orange EE UK phone is on version Android 4.2.2 ,It is rooted etc with clockworkmod installed I have a update to 4.3, this won't install and have been told that I should flash back stock recovery .
I downloaded the 4.3 OTA file and copied the file onto my laptop from my phone.
I have read somewhere the within the 4.3 Zip file there is the stock recovery file that I need , is this true ?? if so where in the zip file will I find the recovery file.
If when I get the stock recovery file will I be able to flash it with the software (One_M7_All-In-One_Kit_v1.0 ) if not what software would I need to download.
I hope I've made my self quite clear and hope somebody can help me.
Take care everybody and thanks for all your help over the years

You will need the stock recovery from your 4.2.2 version, not the 4.3. If you have that ruu you can extract from the firmware folder. If you don't have, try this link. Be sure to get the version for your current OS ie: 3.x.x.x
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545227
The toolkit should work for you but select your recovery , or just use adb directly (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
my version is 2.24.61.1
I cant find this version anywhere

I think any recovery from a 2.24.xxx.x will work, but wait and see if someone else comments.
the recovery from this zip, would likely work. I used a Telus one for my Rogers device.

Hi All,
My CID HTC__038 only has a 4.1.2 RUU , so if i want to go completely stock i have to flash that and then install all the updates that HTC can provide me. I know i can do a nandroid and that will act as a backup. But i want to backup the firmware zip that has the Radio and other drivers for the phone as that is something that is impossible to find for my phone.
Could anyone guide me what steps i need to take after the OTA download is finished , that would help me extract the firmware.zip from the OTA.
Thanks

After you download the OTA (ie download & install later, as soon as you install the OTA, it will be deleted off your phone), just put it on your PC and extract "firmware.zip" that's the complete stock firmware package. In the picture attached the OTA is called "OTA_M7_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_3.62.401.1-2.24.401.8_release_338160gxmo5sd9337kadux" so that would contain the complete 3.62.401.1 firmware.
You should find the OTA either in your download folder or /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache (thanks to @electronical for that location)

Thanks a lot . Just to confirm , the firmware file would be in the small update file , that is downloaded before the actual large OTA ??

It doesnt get downloaded before, it is all one big file "OTA...........".zip, and inside that zip is the "firmware.zip", so you need to download (but not install) the OTA.zip put it on your PC, and just extract the firmware.zip file from it.
this "firmware.zip" is the complete stock firmware package (including hboot, recovery, radio, etc.) but not ROM.

Lol , thanks a lot buddy. I got the OTA extracted . Once it was downloaded to the phone. Since i was on stock not-rooted ,i had to boot from cwm and then took a nandroid of the system. That was originally done to backup stock recovery . But i found the OTS files in the nandroid. I Really never knew this was so easy.
Kudos to you for telling me the location of the OTA
Today i got the ota rom from HTC but when i tried to install it it failed. I already know thats because i use a custom recovery and rooted th e phone. But i want to install the original kitkat how can i do that. I also read on xda that in order to go back i need to have s-off(i know have s-on) to install the new rom.zip but this is also impossible because in order to go back i need a ruu file.
Is there anyone who can tell me how to go back to stock and go original i dont need root privileges anymore.
Im from holland and i have unlocked m7 with vodafone sim.

Okay, custom recovery, rooted. Custom ROM? You didn't say. In any event, you will need to flash stock recovery and unroot. I think both can be done with AIO Tools. Then you can update. If on custom ROM, S-Off, flash stock recovery, downgrade HBoot, and RUU.

you clicked the wrong download button
you want the recovery.img
then you flash it with fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
forget about s-off just get your phone working
best option is to just RUU to kitkat 4.4.2

it's a signed HTC Rom update utility ...nothing will happen to your phone
Its simple
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2691787
I unlocked boot loader, rooted, installed TWRP recovery and superSU. My phone is Vodafone UK with 4.4.2 running but the the new update ruined my phone with some very serious and annoying bugs. Can I flash this stock rom intended for PN0710000 without changing my MID of Vodafone? Please help !
It doesnt work it starts with the program to update but within the minute it stops....Proberply because i have CWM recovery in the boot and not the Original HTC recovery and finaly because i dont have s-Off
edit I now have s-off 02:16 AM
I have did it, the S-OFF is a must and now i completely stocked my htc one. Everything works perfect also the over the air (ota) update works. Thanks to you all who made restore possible.:good:
I flashed 5.0 ages ago since I live in NZ and I heard that I can get the official version now so I need to return to stock somehow so I can install the latest update, so does anyone have a stock rom or a method to return to stock and still be able to receive the updates
See any response by the forum member "reefuge" - his signature contains a stock ROM link.
For example, in my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/help/xt1068-ota-lollipop-update-failing-t3035150
try to flash the rom via fastboot, using the commands on 4.2 on this thread
You need a XML zip of the rom , to have the XML zip of yours rom search in here and download the file regards yours model and OS version that you wanna...
download is very slow, here a mirror but the mirror is incomplete.
download, unzip, to the some folder of mfastboot and give the commands a try, while the phone is conected via USB to the PC in the bootloader screen, you must have motorola driver update, to know if you have the drivers, just plug the phone on normal on mode, and see if you can copy and past files to the phone...
If you follow this procedure you will erase everything on the phone, so do a backup...
To receved a OTA update, you will need to have everything on stock so no root no custom recovery, the bootloader state don't matter. :fingers-crossed: :good:
Hellos guys,
I am trying to find the stock recovery for T-mobile US 6.10.531.10 (NOT 6.10.531.9) . Does anybody has it or point me on the right direction? I want to update my phone through OTA so I can get lollipop however I cannot find the stock recovery.
I am S-On all stock except for the recovery, I had TWRP so I can make backups. Now I want to install back the stock recovery so i can upgrade but I don't seem to find it anywhere. I managed to find the RUU but the recovery image is not inside the "rom.zip" on my Temp folder when I run it. These are the only files that it shows:
android-info.txt
dzdata_16g.hdr
dzdata_32g.hdr
dzdata_64g.hdr
tp_HMX852XD.img
boot_signed.img
dzdata_16.img
dzdata_32.img
dzdata_64.img
Am I missing something? Please help. I have tried to find it the whole day with no luck.

just run the Lollipop RUU, same as the OTA but its the full thing rather than an OTA: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-t-mobile/news/ follow the manual update instructions, download is at the bottom.
edit: it will wipe your phone, so backup anything you want to keep first.

Seanie, thank you for your reply. I need the stock recovery because precisely I was trying to avoid wiping my phone. I am just a very small step away to be able to update without wiping, I just can't find this stock recovery. Why is it that the recovery.img it is not inside the rom.zip RUU? Am I missing something?
Currently I flashed the stock recovery 6.10.5310.9 and i tried to install the OTA but when it gets to the recovery it looks like it starts installing moving the green line a little bit but soon after I get a red triangle and stops, which I am assuming it is because i do not have the proper recovery.
Any help so i do not need to wipe will be greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

ok, you cant take it out of the RUU.zip as its an encrypted RUU, so take it out of the OTA.
download the OTA as normal, but select install later, then plug your phone into the computer and copy the OTA.zip to your computer from your phone, its in the internal storage, downloads folder, its just a zip file, so once its on your computer, open it with WinRAR or whatever you use to open zip files and in there you will see firmware.zip, open that too and take out recovery.img, flash it like any other recovery, then reboot and try and update again.
If the OTA then fails again, it will be down to modified system files or root, you will have no choice but to backup and use the full RUU.

oh I see. the OTA will check to see if you have 6.10.513.10 or 7.18.513.2 recovery, cant be anything earlier than those 2, current or previous, recovery update by the OTA will just be skipped.

I see! Great news! Good to know. So the OTA can be install with a newer stock recovery (matching the OTA I presume).
I am currently at work without my cell phone but I will try this, as soon as I get back home and post the results.
One last thing, to flash the stock recovery is as simple as "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (or whatever the recovery file .img name is), correct?
I do not need to lock the bootloader in order to upgrade using the OTA as long as everything else is still stock. ...I do have root though, but I also read that this shouldn't be a problem either, correct?
Thank you sooo much!

No need to lock the bootloader for an ota, root might be a problem as it modifies system files, just give it a go, and yes, the flash of the recovery is the same as any other recovery file.

Seanie, all went as expected! It worked. I was able to extract the recovery.img file from the firmware.zip inside the 7.18 OTA zip file that was downloaded to the internal storage. Then proceed to flash it as any other recovery with fastboot. Afer that, the OTA update installed with o problem. Having root did not mattered. I did have to root it again though.
Thank you so much for your support!!! :good:
Worked for me as well, thank you.
Hello, I flashed LOS with my m7 international version. Sadly, Lineage dropped the support. I then flashed back to stock ROM via twrp. However, the stock ROM always prompt me to install the OTA update and I couldn't because I replaced the stock recovery with twrp.
So, my question is can I just revert twrp back to stock recovery with the ROM being untouched. Or do I need to do so like this 100%?
Thanks.
If you can find the correct version of the stock recovery for your current firmware you can fastboot flash that.

How can I find the stock recovery? My version is: 7.18.708.21
However, I cannot find it on google.com.
please help.
When I typed "HTC One M7 stock recovery" into Google the first result I got was this XDA thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545227, so that's where I'd start looking.
As far as I can tell 7.18.708.21 is a HTC Asia HK software version. That thread has a recovery image for 7.18.708.2. I couldn't tell you whether the recovery changed at all between that and 7.18.708.21, so it's possible that that file will do what you want, but I cannot make any promises.
Otherwise you just have to try an RUU, as that guide you linked describes.
Yeah, I also got 7.18.708.2. However, I would not take the risk unless I found the right one. Thanks though.

Download your ota update
Select "install later"
Connect your phone to your compter and copy the ota zip file from the download folder to your desktop.
Use winrar to open the ota zip file and extract firmware.zip from it
Use winrar to open firmware.zip and extract the recovery.img file.
Thats the recovery you need, flash it with fastboot then reboot phone and install the post poned ota
If the ota fails to install, youll have to flash a ruu
