It shouldnt be too hard to make one on your own, its just a piece of wood. But of course depending of how skilful you are with tools and woodwork it would probably not look as good as the one they are making I know if I made one it would not look very good

You know what.. I just tested (original Pebble) and the magnets in the cable are strong enough to hold up the watch.
If you could get any kind of clip with an arm on it, you could hold the watch up with that..
Perhaps one of those little gimmicky photo holders you see in gift stores with an alligator clip (a block with a piece of wire sticking right up with the clip on the end.. would hold one photo) ?
Bend it at a 90 degree angle. Set it at a height that the band rests on the desk and can take some weight.

There were a few smartwatch / pebble stands on Kickstarter a while back... one called sidekick (listed above) and another called "FirstStand".
I have one of the FirstStand units and it works well for Pebble and Sony SW2.

Another Bookcover Case

This is on Kickstarter, but they are supposedly going to be ready to ship N7 cases in October. $40 each.

Wow. These look great.

It's a novel idea *buh duh chaaaa* but it looks like the inside is made from plastic? It's about the same price as the Portenzo/Treegloo cases without the options too.

Rubberized plastic, it looks like. Might be a bit more durable than wood.
I've been on that kickstarter page since launch but last communication with them, I asked about smart covers. They said they wanted to keep the case simple as possible and not include it.
Other than that, I do agree, they resemble the treegloo/portenzo/dodo/reauthored cases, just without a lot of customization.

Me too! I know this is not the point those guys are trying to make, but I'd love to see this concept with movie art, particularly Ralph Stedman's work from Fear and Loathing...

For those of you who don't like cases but are worried about traveling with your N7...

I picked this travel case up at Target for about 12$... fits everything nicely.

Its actually not even in the electrinics department of target. Its in the camping supply area next to the travel stuff. Its labeled as an e-reader case and has a cardboard sleeve around it. I'm pretty sure the brand was Embark
Thanks.. I am going to go look tomorrow.. I had a feeling it would be an a area I wouldn't know about.lol
Good find. I may grab one of these.

Just an FYI, I had a similar case for my old Archos PMP. The elastic band wore away the finish on the PMP's frame after a bit of taking it out and putting it back in. I imagine that, if you're careful, it won't be a problem. And one advantage to plastic over metal is that there's no paint to abrade.
Thanks exactly what i was looking for!
That's the right one in the website posted but it says $16 online. It was definitely only $12 or $12.99 in store.

I'm not sure if this will be a problem with this or not but regardless, keeping it face down will eliminate that problem.

Exogear car mount and replicas

So I've been looking at car mounts and the Exogear is the one I like, but I find it a bit expensive. I found plenty of replicas on Ebay such as:
Cheapest I found
Another cheap one.
Even there are differences between the replicas - the suction pad is different between these 2.
So do you think these are good enough? Comparable suction? Durable enough, so they don't break within a month?
What do you think?
Anyone?

Hm, I ordered the same one. Hopefully it works properly.
The phone/whole mount doesn't drop I hope?
I have the exogear use for both of my devices ( note 2 & nexus 4 and it works perfect, see attached picture

So I ordered THIS one and used it on a 60 miles trip today.
For its price I am very pleased with it. It holds the phone securely and while it's a little shaky on a bumpy road I don't think that it will fall off the window.
I've tried to put it on different surfaces, but it will only stay on surfaces that are completely smooth. My dashboard wasn't, so it didn't attach well to it. Glass - no problem. It is very secure. Polished wooden furniture - no problem too.

Mine is in the car, but it looks absolutely identical to yours.
I'll get it tomorrow to compare it.
I would assume yours is a bit shaky too?
If it's not too much can you get a picture on the suction pad
Thank you.

You get what you pay for... you can do like me and buy about 5 or 6 different ones that are cheap and shake rattle and roll as you go down the road...
Or you can bite the bullet and pay ~$70 and get the best mount out there. ProClip
I got an exomount 1 off ebay
It's definitely one if the easiest mounts to insert and remove the phone.
Its great that I can use it with a case
My only complaint is it is a quite shaky and also the phone moves a little in the mount due to the narrow width of the clamp
I wouldn't trust a cheap holder to hold my expensive phone...
The iOttie mount is solid and WILL attach to irregular surfaces, like a textured dashboard. Mine came in today, and it is very sturdy, haven't got a chance to use it yet. Other folks here have confirmed that it sticks to dashboards with no problem, even if they aren't smooth.
Is it shaky because of the spring in the clamp maybe not song enough? Or something else
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
It bounces because the arm from base to ball joint is plastic and quite skinny so it's not real solid.

galaxy gear band too small?

FYI in case others are in the same situation-Needed 1 more hole to fit perfect-have the black gear-bought a cheap snap back baseball hat-cut off the tab with the nubs-punched a new hole to fit in the metal clasp and worked like a charm
I so wish you could replace the bands though.. would have made life much easier.

Once we start getting our gear lives post your 3rd party watch bands here. I already have a leather one waiting.

While I've read it's 22mm, I've also read that finding an appropriate band will be difficult since it needs to meet up nicely with the chrome portion. Any way to verify what will work and what won't?
Im guessing it will be similar to the other gears. Check out their sections, plenty of people have changed the band. A nice wide metal one seems to work well.
I just got a plain black leather one in anticipation. I'll let you know if it works when I get my watch.

I got 2 silicone straps from Amazon. Both under $20. One with a fitted clasp, other "normal" style. So I'll honestly just use whichever fits better. Since there appears to be issues with that.
If they both fit, I'll just choose the better looking one. Hahaha

Both are pretty ugly, maybe a black or silver metal band would work better.
Here are some I found on Amazon.

There is a black metal one made for the pebble steel but its 18mm - 22mm...I wonder if it would work for the Gear live.

Went to a place in my local mall (Dakota Watch Company) and bought a $20 stainless steel watch band. Makes the watch look really nice!

they're not ugly, personally i've never been a fan of rubber straps. but the point is to get something you like! thanks for sharing the pictures.
like i feel the metal bands on this watch look odd since the metal doesn't match the metal that's in the face.
if anyone has attached leather straps if they could post a picture, especially of where the strap meets the watch to see how well/not well it merges with the watch face i would appreciate it.
