Hello
I rooted my Nexus 7 (2013 / version 1) today running kitkat 4.4 ... using Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.0
Everything has went well.... so i decided to install ElementalX 2.6
Nothing has changed.... nothing.....
Ive installed it a few times now but still nothing has changed.
The kernel version is still - 3.1.10-g4776c68
The installation process of Elementalx completed and i re booted as normal...
Ive tried clearing date/cache...
ive tried different version of Elementalx... but still nothing has changed...
Its exactly the same as it was... (stock)
Im puzzled?????
What am i doing wrong, because from where im sitting everything went like clockwork....

Hi, if you have 3.1.10 kernel version stock, you have a 2012 Nexus 7 not 2013. The custom kernel installers have protection in them to prevent them being flashed on the wrong device, plus the mount points are different.
The section you are looking for is Nexus 7, not Nexus 7 2013
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7
good luck

I'm confused, you say you have a Nexus 2013...version 1? Isn't 3.1.10-g4776c68 for Nexus 2012? Maybe you're grabbing the wrong kernel.
EDIT: Ninja'd

4.4 uses the 2.2 build. Only 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 use the 2.6 build. Looks like you just need to download the proper build.
Edit: Wait a minute, 3.1.X is the 2012 Nexus 7. If this is what you are using the do not use the kernel I listed. Screen shot your build or confirm it at least. Don't want to give bad information.

I tell you already, you're flashing the wrong kernel, a 2013 kernel will not work on 2012 device theyre Much different. You need a 2012 kkernel to flash, I linked you the forum for that
You have 2012 model. 370T, 3.1.10 kkernel is 2012 tegra. You have no rear camera and your front can sits in the middle. Nexus is written on the back in portrait.

No elemental x. That is the correct link for your device. Go to nexus 7 development or original development and try those developments
I recommend leankernel or mkernel for 2012

Now my android keyboard isnt working and im unable to access wifi due to not being able to input the wifi password.
Im also unable to download the android keyboard apk and put it onto my nexus 7 because windows xp doesnt recognise my nexus 7 ( evne when not or in usb debugging mode )
Im also unable to install any other rom because i cant access internet on my tablet
Nothing shows up..
Looked into it and its a common problem with xp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284125
Looks like im going to have to completely restore my device and go back to factory settings.
I think ill just leave it and stick to stock everything..... its my daughters tablets and i dont want to brick it.
Very unstable all these programmes.... if its not one problem its another..
Thanks anyway guys.

Follow this guide (the "Wi-Fi devices (nakasi)" section) carefully and hopefully you can get it back, you obviously can skip the step to unlock the bootloader...if your serial number is not showing up when you do adb devices, it's probably a driver issue, use this and reboot your PC and try again.

Okay, managed to get ADB working. For some reason it doesn't work on USB3 ports :S
Sideloaded a ROM, but I got no network signal, and it restarted itself within about 2 mins.
I have re-locked, and am running RUU now, if this doesn't work what shall I do?
Okay the RUU worked fine. Thanks for the help guys!
Latest versions on intl. roms are 4.2.2. They won't work on sprint. Since there is no sprint support the updater script wipes our radio and boot partition because they have a different partition table than we do. It's just f.y.I so you know what went wrong

Yeah I realised, but the text in the post is VERY misleading.

Maybe its just me being crazy, but I assumed anything later would work, to me that sounded like everything below 9.4 would not.
Diddo
The exact thing happened to me!!! the ARHD posts are very misleading!! I also had to do a RUU on it.. it made me made cause i really wanted that rom. Have you found any other ROM with 4.2.2 that will work with sprint htc one? I cant find anything.

Im so screwwwweeddd i was trying to flash a "100% stock rom" for thr sprint htc from this link here
http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/stock-rom-downloads/
and now, the rom booted up and its just stuck at the lock screen i got 4g and im getting notifcations but i cant even reboot, manual reboot or anything just keeps saying, hold on power for 1 second and im holding forever and nothing!!
Touch doesnt work and i was coming from ecliptic rom yes my phone has unlocked bootloader and i selected the option to not root
PLEASE HELP!!
I used the latest file, my touch doesnt work at all is there anyway to control the screen without having to touch it ?
It must be a 4.1.2 ROM. Your touchscreen doesn't work cause you need the old drivers for 4.1.2 If you just want a stock rom run a ruu. This is the latest http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508907

yeah i knew about ruu's thing is you cant ruu on mac.
Heres what i did though, since touch wouldnt work. i had to adb everything. and Re-root this thing again, and flash TWRP again, touch still wouldnt work nor was i able to unlock the screen but luckily i had a cm11 zip lying around, i loaded it up deleted the usual data , cache etc, and it booted to cm11 with working touch!
took 6 hours to figure it out.. but i did it!

It's what I said. You wanted to flash a 4.1.2 ROM, but you are on the latest firmare. Your touch didn't work cause 4.1.2 needs the old firmware (touch pannel driver). If you still want that ROM you need to downgrade your firmware (you must be s-off) than flash the old firmware. If you want to stick with newer ROMs 4.3 and above you are ok. You can't do many things with a mac so you must install VirtualBox and than make a Windows virtual machine.

i installed safe strap , but i messed up and instead of first creating a slot 1 and installing to that location i just installed, and it over wrote the stock rom. i rebooted the phone and its X note 7.0, i added a few slots installed roms , removed them later, then i decided to try removing everything , i even uninstalled safestrap , the phone still boots into X note 7.0. i messed up my phone and had to restore from factory recovery. when the phone rebooted it rebooted into X note 7.0 when i check settings it says x note rom. i have removed everything from the phone from the other roms and safestrap but the phone no longer boots stock. it does however still have touchwi

Yeah I know how that goes. I drill on PD 829, and have "drillers training" at the Noble Energy office tomorrow. All day thing. Then I go back on morning tour for 2 weeks as soon as I'm done there

First and foremost, let me say that I messed up.
Now that that's out of the way, let me begin;
I have a VS980 (obviously) with Cyanogenmod 11 running the latest nightly (6-26 I believe, running 4.4.4), and as many know the Verizon version has had issues with any rom with rotation issues. So I decided to search around and try and find a fix for this, and the most likely fix seemed to be flashing a KK baseband. I know before that my device was 12B or whatnot.
Well, now I'm in a bootloop, and have no clue what to do next.
Ive tried restoring from a nandroid backup and straight up reflashing the ROM.
I have TWRP 2.7.0.0 installed, but my United drivers wont recognize my G2 when in recovery (even though the computer sees it as "VS980" in devices), and I just downloaded and started up the SDK, but haven't downloaded anything other than that.
What I think might work is pushing the correct baseband to the phone, but I have no idea how to do so. I know basic ADB from a past experience, but very very basic.
I need some direction as what to do is what I'm saying. Any and all help is much appreciated, thank you so much!

You should still be able to get into recovery, it's just getting the timing right. Recovery has it's own kernel.
Try holding down power for 15 or so seconds til it restarts, immediately hit the volume down and power, let go when the LG splash screen comes up and hit them both again.
You'll get the factory hard reset screen, keep hitting power til it gets you to Recovery.
CM11 nightlies are still based on JB kernel source, so you need the 12B radio for it to boot. That's why you're bootlooping. So if you have a 12B radio on your SD, you can flash that. Then clean flash your current build of CM11. Should boot up then. If I was you I'd think about updating to 24A, and use one of the ROMs that use KK kernel source. There's a CM11 for 24A build out. Not in nightlies but pretty frequent builds.

Its not Recovery that I have an issue getting into, its download mode. I have no problem getting into there, however, I have no idea about anything regarding download mode.

I dont think I do, but do you know how I can get my drivers to work or where I can pull drivers from for my laptop to recognized my phone so I can push a radio to it?

Thanks. I need to add the section on updating the boot loader if it needs to be done.. I think an original Nexus has 4.18 and you need 4.23 to install lollipop. I remember doing this when 5.0 first came out.

Seems like a pretty good guide, if I get the chance I'll update my Sons tablet using your method to confirm the steps. Did my tablet on a Linux box and the steps are of course very similar.
I don't recall having to use the CF-Auto-root ... Just did the flash of the Factory Image, TWRP, then flashed SuperSU.zip straight from TWRP for root if my memory serves me correctly. So you _might_ be able to trim that step.
Nice to see support for things outside of Windows though, I appreciate that, keep up the good work !!
Thanks

Same thing for Nexus 7 2013 but of course the ROM file and CF Root Files would be specific to that device. I did the same thing to my 2013 Nexus 7.
Fantastic instructions! Glad to have my Nexus 7 finally run 5.0.2 now
Worked well for me. Apart from getting my recently clean formatted Mac to read my Nexus 7 2012!
For those starting from absolutely scratch, you need to ensure that you install Android SDK, Java update from OSX and Java update from Oracle, first, before following these steps.
Otherwise your device will not be recognised at all.
After that though. It worked perfectly, first time and my useless, on the shelf N7 is working magnificently! Rooted and all!
Thanks for posting.
