Tmovil to rogers 4.4.2 is safe to flash? - Moto X Q&A

Hi everyone, i got a question, i hope someone can help me whit this,
After read everything about flash and brick and not downgrade firmware i got the question...
Can i flash the complete rogers firmware over the tmovil firmware?
The two firmwares are in 4.4.2 and the bootloader versions are the same ..... In that case it will probably safe?
Thanks to all...

I would suggest flashing only the rogers system.img and keep you existing modem intact. There's several folks who have had no data connections after flashing the entire sbf firmware from other carriers. Always use your native modem.
Which carrier are you on?
Which firmware are you running now?

In fact my original model are 1058 .... First i flash at&t in 4.2.2 later flash tmovil and get the 4.4.2 ota, now my phone got the 1053 model number... Whatever.... In both cases i got all signal and no issues with 4g bands... I known the rogers modem are compatible with the chilean network so thats not will be a proble.. My concern is not brick my phone D:

If your bootloader is unlocked, you're already running 4.4.2 with bootloader 30.B4 and you have XT1058 hardware then there should be no problems flashing the full Rogers 4.4.2 if that is what you would like to do.

4.4.2 Brazil is out - Full File like in SBF?

Hello my friends.
Yesterday the brazilian users began receive 4.4.2 and someone get the OTA file (https://mega.co.nz/#!rc4kGQSS!Q671NKxHn9lgUSCUYi7dIwjjlI1la1TxSb-lXq60Y3A) (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BzXVUI3-70ddSXBpQnVvQW1TZ1U/edit).
But I would ask for someone to generate the complete file as the files available on the SBFand not just the update.
Thks a lot my friends.
I think trhat's 4.4, not 4.4.2 . since I already have this Build on my Moto X and it's 4.4.
Is real 4.4.2
Enviado de meu XT1058 usando Tapatalk
I got the 4.4.2 notification too. Will download and extract this weekend
If I have root and TWRP unlocked boot, bootloop give me the update? Or I can update via OTA without problems?
Sory for my bad english.

Do not update with TWRP and all other stuff - you will brick your phone. Install full 4.4 from the scratch by RDSLite and the update. I made it but I do not receive update yet, the system says that I have last software available

You don't care about root?
It's a real 4.4.2 OTA update.
If you have a custom recovery or a rooted phone you will get a bootloop.
You need to install 4.4 retail brasil firmware first, then you can push the OTA.

Well depends if 4.4.2 is rootable or not. Is there anything different in rooting 4.2 and 4.4?
Real problem is: Bootloader version is different. Play between 4.2 and 4.4 and 4.4.2 might be not so nice.

4.4.2 is absolutely the same in rooting as 4.4 or 4.2.2 - TWRP through ADB and supersu 1.91 after that - that is all
What about BL versions? I can't find information on that, just know that 4.4.2 got new BL.

Yes boot is new but it does not mean that it is impossible to root device. Go back to 4.2.2 will be impossible as I know (up to now at least) and that is all
Well then makes no sense to flash 4.4 since I already have 4.4 and I can't update to 4.4.2 because of the bootloader being TWRP. If the flashing of 4.4 won't change the bootloader, then makes no difference.
And all this problem is due to Motorola stupidity to forbid flashboot boot command. We cannot boot into a difference recover, we can only flash a different recovery and have it permanently in the memory of the phone. If flashboot boot was possible we could boot into TWRP and maintain original recovery, just like inserting a CD to boot the computer.
The 4.4.2 is totally rooteable, the method is very simple,
Put your phone in fastboot mode and flash the twrp 2.6.3.1-ghost-4.4.img then in fastboot select recovery(thats open twrp) then go to reboot/ system and give the option to root, select that, tour phone will boot with root acces

No dude. It only works with locked bootloader. The exact one you have.
P.S. Oh and you are not suppose to do that over 4.2, but over 4.4. Update to 4.4 first, then 4.4.2.

It would be nice to have a 4.4.2 full file or a 4.4.2 flashable through CWM. I'm at a limbo. I'm with unlocked bootloader at 4.4 with the 4.4.2 bootloader and can't RSD flash 4.4 because of it.

Flashing firmware XT1053 on XT1058?

Can anyone tell me if I have a problem flashing the firmware one in Moto X XT1053 XT1058.? I already did that once. Went back for fear of a mistake
1. Why?
2. Custom ROM? No problem.
Enviado desde mi XT1053 mediante Tapatalk
Because I saw a significant improvement in the performance of my device with this firmware.
It is not Custom ROM . It is the complete firmware. If you have any problem what is?
The only problem that you can have is modem issues. If signal doesn't works just flash only modem from 1053. That's all.
Enviado desde mi XT1053 mediante Tapatalk
Then catch signal has no problem keeping the firmware? Or after a while can give error? The system may become unstable or buggy?
There is no problem. I recommend to you TMO firmware for flash modem.

Some will tell you its safe and it works, some will say it works, but you might have issues with the modem files, others will say DONT DO IT... etc.
When looking at the USA XT1053 vs USA XT1058, their modems don't support exactly the same frequencies which might cause you coverage/signal issues.
One other thing to consider is 4.4.2 vs 4.4.3 vs 4.4.4... and the changes to GPT.BIN and Motoboot.img that might cause issues flashing between them, or back to stock.
So you try it at your own risk.

bernardomendez181, has an XT1058, and tried to flash the XT1053 T-Mobile USA (aka GSM Dev Edition) ROM onto his phone, but ended up with a BRICK, and needs to do a warranty/insurance replacement.
Unfortunately, it appears he is from Brazil, and English, or USA English, is not his primary language, so its difficult to find out what steps were taking to help determine why the phone bricked.
i.e. Which carrier ROM was on the phone prior to flashing, and exactly which XT1053 rom was used (for example if the phone was on a 4.4.3 carrier rom, and a 4.4.2 or lower XT1053 rom was flashed, "downgrading" could be the issue rather than just the act of flashing an XT1053 rom)? Was mfastboot used or RSDLite (RSDLite verifies check sums before flashing, where as mFastboot does not, so if mFastboot was used and the download was corrupted, a bad file could have been flashed)? Was the flash process interrupted while running? etc...
The Language barrier is also going to hinder any efforts to try and help bernardomendez181 recover the phone.

The only carrier locked phone is from AT&T. There are no specific ROMs for carriers. All the same. The only thing you have to be careful of is if it's an AT&T variant, is it still carrier locked to AT&T.
Two quick checks: If it's an AT&T device, it should have the AT&T logo on the back, unless the owner has replaced it. But the real test is to insert your TMO SIM card and see if you get a "device locked" popup on the screen.

There are and there aren't. All ROMs will work on both models of the phone (North American and International) however, For Verizon and T-Mobile, if you use a generic ROM, You'll lose some features (VoLTE and WiFi Calling respectively).

How to de-brand AT&T S6 Edge

Hi folks, hope all is well with you guys.
The title says it all. How can I de-brand my stock AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge (non-rooted, all stock) to the international stock version? This would make it similar to 925F models (unbranded).
I appreciate your help

Does flashing another firmware through ODIN make it un-brand?
No way
USA carriers have device specific firmware so flashing out of the states firmware is not possible Odin will just fail ...925A to 925 Germany or even international will not work
