[Q] Is there any Kitkat X86 Phone out there? - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I am on my way porting kitkat to our beloved Razr I. There is not much progress so far, as I started from a mostly fresh product environment a lot of work has to be done with much time consuming testing (The build system is really slow and not everything can be tested without rebuilding the rom).
A bit of a showstopper seems to be the precompiled binaries we need. They are compiled against some JellyBean Android system libraries and are not compatible. Instead of adding to the Kitkat-Libs I really would like to use vendor blobs compiled against Kitkat... Does anybody know of a firmware image of any X86-atom 4.4 Phone?
Development thread and github sources will be published within the next few days - but I still need 9 more posts to get access to that board

Hey there, maybe. . . can help this one?
H t t p: //software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-atom-x86-image-for-android-4-4-kitkat-installation-instructions-manually
Its no Image of a phone but for developing in emulation-environment

Maybe its more practical to get fixed the things for 4.2.2 first?
Enviado desde mi XT890 mediante Tapatalk

Agree. As I know there is no single x86 phone with KitKat. It would be great if we could have 4.4 but I don't know if there is chance for it - not yet.
Cyanogenmod could give our phone new live, even with Android 4.2. It would be great if anyone with proper knowledge and abilities could help in building and resolving bugs in 4.2 build.

Trying to port CM10

Hey guys,
I plan to port CM10 to this device. I have heard about several problems related to the Intel CPU including Moto libs, drivers, etc.). Anyone who tried that already, can you please report your exeriences here?
I guess a good starting point would be to rebuild several libs, trying to run the CM Framework "on top" of the Moto "baserom". Can still follow my point? Sorry, I don't speak enough English to explain my plan more detailed..
Did Moto already release Rom sources? As I heard the kernel source was released so Matt was able to unpack the kernel, am I right?
Thanks in advance!!
Kernel sources
Moto already released the kernel sources. You can find the in github
http://sourceforge.net/projects/razr-i.motorola/files/razr-i/
As far as i know, devs had been tryng to use the sources, but there's always build problems.
Although, i dont know anybody that have tried with the 9.8.2I-50_SMI-26 kernel, supposedly of Jelly Bean.
I cant help you much more, im not a dev ):
i wish u could bring Cyanogenmod to the Razr i.....theres not much i can help with, but i wish you luck!!
By the title, I tought it really was a CM10 ROM ready to be downloaded... oh well, i'll keep searching...

Sorry for confusion here. But there is nor CM10 for this device out there. That's why I want to do this.

Well... you can use the french Jelly Bean firmware as the base for CM10... it's rolling right now!
Please change the title so that it is not misleading.
All needed files for a running x86 motorola jb rom should be found here:

This will take a while... I have to work on other projects too. This project is difficult as I'm working almost blind... No RAZR I device.
The Moto jb could be a solution..
Someone has sent me a PN to tell me about this update. I have to apologize because I thought he was talking about the RAZR.

Hello !
Bought a razr i few days ago to replace my old Xperia x10 that I'll keep to continue dev cm10 and other stuffs on it...
Think I'll be able to port cm10 on razr but it'll take time....started working on razr JB rom. The whole framework needs to be modded and maybe the kernel ramdisk...then it'll be a "simple" port with "cm look "
But... If razr i device sources can be available then a real cm10 build from sources could be done.
Read things have been already done for that by turl1

Check with hiemanshu. He has an almost working Liquid Smooth, shouldn't be too different and a good starting point, I imagine.
Just a few news about cm10 compiling ...
Had a little free time and managed to download sources from motorola, implement them in cm10 sources ... and fixing few errors ...
Started a build with Motorola instructions ...
Facing few problem with toolchain that are different for x86 ... didn't had time to go further .
Will post again later to tell you about progress ... if there are some

I also have change from Sony xperia sola to this wonder and i also are considering make roms for this, but before there is a couple of things that i want to know: 1. where i could find a technical description of the SoC of this phone? 2. Anyone knows how this phone make the boot up?.... Maybe i could help a little bit in Dev department

Am I right? You want theme the stock rom that it looks like CM10? That is not a port and no CM10. There chooser won't work then and some other stuff too.
I think we should try working together to bring this project up to work. What do you think?

Good news! Usual tool chain won't work with Intel architecture... But I guess it could work with gcc/normal make by just editing the makefiles - if you want to build the whole rom it should be OK with some modifications. What do you think about working together?

Hello!
Yes with gcc/normal make it works with cm roms I use brunch command which works too
Took turl1's repo as base for the device and build environnement is ok.
Now it needs Motorola stuffs... The build stopped cause there are no include yet.
Will update my repo with what I've done so that we could work together
And yes building from sources is the best way to get better things

cm/pa building/discussion & plans.

hello all, I've just picked up a razr i as a temp standin while my xperia Z is away under warranty repair.
(it was cheap enough to keep too play with afterwards)
is there any reason why no-one has started on CM /PA yet? I've looked through all the posts and can't see anything remotely like a real custom rom..
I'm happy to start working on this (will probably leave it till my Z is back in use though), but would like to get a decent team together to work on it, rather than do it on my own, which is what I've done in the past for a few devices and burnt myself out!
if you're interested then let me know

I want people with a more technical bent than a lot of the users on here to get involved.
for those people, is there anything I'm missing that would stop us building for this?
we have kernel source, and omars kernel looks fairly decent basepoint looking at his git, and some source from motorola that looks sloppily put together.
we can flash with fastboot, and even using blobs it doesn't look too arduous to get at least a 4.1 based build going, so am I missing something?
I'm pretty open on how I work, but I don't tolerate people demanding stuff, or expecting perfection, this will be a W.I.P for a very long time (especially if done on my own).
As far as i know, the problem is on intel processor libs... That's what i've read somewhere around here
Aosp and cm build with some modifications. The phone boots, but in a boot loop on my build. Haven't solved that and will not solve it I think. I have some skills in building, modifying and debugging, but not enough... To get it working. Give it a shot, we can help everyone to get past some certane problems we already solved.

hello the problem is that no source AOSP (Cyanogen or AOKP) have x86 libraries and formats, visit www.androidx86.org
if you need a beta tester let me know
The app also must be compatible with x86
The problem I faced was that at the moment of booting it kept restarting netd -- which is odd seeing how the Kernel iptables/ipchains and net configuration is the same on Motorola's one. [info]
I even tried adding and compiling extra modules on the Kernel without much luck -- and it was not the typical ramdisk *.rc files fix here.
Hmm I presumed that with the amount of x86 development boards about there would be a load more work on bringing cm across.
I'll start to have a look at it in depth in the next couple of weeks.

Harder cause it's not only based on cm10 it's alto different port
For MiUi 4.0 there was the possibility to make a stock based Miui Rom,
There even was one for our Razr i, even though it wasn't very popular.
Is this possibility gone with v5 or is there any other reason not to?
greetings

v4 is different, cause all the porting guides are adapted for it, plus there's miuiv4.1 for razr which is easily portable i guess, but v5 is a whole different matter cause it's based on cm
I will be very happy if anyone port miui 4.1 for our razr, i used it before, on my old phone
If anybody dev could do it i think many ppl will be happy as i.

I got Intel's AOSP Android (4.1.2) to build and then made some binary blob overlays on top. It show the Motorola animation logo on the Phone and then it starts flickering -- I have yet to plug adb to it, but I need to go to sleep soon.
Experimental File, adb enabled at boot: RazRi_AOSP_A001.zip [Flashes boot animation, this is using Motorola's *.prop files, which shouldn't be]
Experimental File, adb enabled at boot: RazRi_AOSP_A002.zip [Have not tried this one, this has safe cflags and default build.prop]

Q: Anyone with two phones who knows what to experiment with? I put the instructions to build on the github readme at the moment.

JB4.3 for p970

This topic is for other developers, not for users who are eagerly waiting for something that may never come
I know that upstream p970 development has stopped. However, I still find it a challenge to get JB4.3 running on the p970. Main reasons is that on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (which has also been discontinued by CM-team due to the outdated tegra2 chipset) CM10.2 actually seems to run smoother than CM10.1 (possibly due to the code cleaning from JB4.2 -> JB4.3).
I have started by adding some missing variable to BoardConfig.mk and enabling SELinux in kernel, but already bumped into some compiling issues. Are there any others working on this, or interested in helping?!
Not going into technical part but I have heard and strongly believe that new version means not really a high-end hardware only. According to my knowledge KLP will run smoothly on a device having 512mb of RAM.
and how are you going to get 5.0 if you don't have the source code?! it will be just full of bugs, unusable

????
JB is build based on pure android code from google. So that is the source code necessary...
Honestly,if I could choose from android 4.3 and android 5.0, I'll prefer to wait for android 5.0! Android 5.0 is designed to ensure the performance on old and low-end devices !
I am looking forward for developers to port android 5.0 into our device!!!
I'm willing to help in testing so ring me up anytime!

[Q] building novafusion.pl cm11/kernel

Hi,
I would like to build kernel based on novafusion github sources. I want to look at some btle and NFC stuff, so i wondered if anyone is building from there? And if so how do i get all sources cloned? I figured most things i would look at is kernel, so building that would be a perfect start. But eventually i would like to do complete builds.. So a full guide to getting the correct sources would be great
I am a newbie to building Android, have done it for my defy+ though.

Yeah, I am trying to get source from novafusion's github, but I have trouble figuring out how the Novafusion repo's are tied together and once kernel builds I will need to figure out the same for CM11 I think. I would have expected to get a manifest from one of their repo's but that does not seem to exist? (As noted I am a newbie to android and the repo tool, but I am no stranger to coding)
So I wondered if anyone have cloned and built the sources.. If so I would be gratefull for a guide to how I get a local build up and running.
P.s. I have not yet had time to try and put together a manifest myself - Or ask one of the novafusion guys to share theirs, but I thought there might be a general interest in this.. And I figured that there must be someone having it up and running.

Are developers doing it wrong??

So I'm here waiting for cm 10.2 to build and I had a thought, and want other developers thoughts on this.
So with Ubuntu and sailfish the whole point is to get Linux running natively on a Android phone, right? Are they doing it wrong though, shouldn't we be aiming at running native Linux apps on Android, I mean wouldn't this be a better goal as it would be easier to port it to other roms.
So continuing this chain of thought, if I do start work on this would anyone be willing to test this and help me develop such a module, because that's what it would be, or so I would think.
Mite be new at Android development but am a good programmer especially c++.
I'd be willing to test your work. But I'm not an experienced dev neither.. So dont expect too much help.

Thanks, I'm doing basic kernel mods at for my cm10.2, I think this will be the last part of my rom building as it will require me doing some, make that loads of coding, keep your eye out for bear rom in the development thread
