I've a lot of good old game music related ringtones in MIDI format and as a long time Nokia user I've had great moments listening those tracks while doing something else with my phone.
Now coming to android and somewhat being okay with the poor MIDI playback compared to Nokia, I haven't found a single way to listen to MIDI tracks background. Only way, on stock, I seem to be able to listen MIDI tracks is by opening them via "My Files" and opening MIDI track, which opens a "Sound Player" to play it. Now it's playing, but I cannot lose focus on the player or otherwise MIDI playback stops.
Somehow possible in stock software? Or maybe some 3rd party app?
i use PLAYER media player, and it plays all my mp3 and MIDI files in the background

Thanks AllGamer, I will definately check that out soon.
Edit: Tested and it works as expected when opening MIDI files within Player. When opening from My Files the MIDI track opens in Player but cannot be left background, I guess that's just something to do with that the My Files launched Player application and is somehow acting as a "host" application, but this is a total guess.
But it doesn't matter as I will open MIDI tracks within Player. Thanks again AllGamer.
Hi Folks,
I am new to WP8 and I have the following question that I have not found an answer for:
There is one thing really missing in WP8 - it is ability to play mp3 streams in the background.
You can open mp3 stream in internet explorer and it will play. But you can not switch to any other screen - music stops playing.
I have not found any applications that allow you to play mp3 streams in the background also. Usually players allow you only to play music from library or from hardcoded stream. So is there any way hidden way to do it?
There are definitely APIs to do it; even Windows Phone 7 could do this. For a random example of an app that uses background streaming, see Pandora.
It's also possible to stream music from a web page while the browser is not in the foreground, using HTML5. For example, both Pandora.com and m.SoundCloud.com work fine. Typically web-based streaming only allows play/pause controls on the global media control, though you can of course switch back to the web browser tab for more control.
If you're looking for an app that will play music from an arbitrary stream that you pass it, I'm not aware of such an app but I haven't been looking. It's possible in the APIs, and there's probably an app that does it...
My current phone's headphone jack is broken, because of that I want to use my friends htc one. I used to own myself, but sold it a long time ago.
Anyway, I don't want to save my music on my friends phone. What I want to do is to open a playlist on my computer with a player like vlc or winamp, and then have the music play on my phone with the ability to control the current playlist. Is there a way to do this?
I want to be able to use the camera while listening to music. Currently, it stops all playback while using the camera. Is there any file or settings I can flash if I'm rooted? I currently have GravityBox but I do not see a setting for it.
Try a different music player app. Some background play and will let you snap photos while playing music.
Hi all,
I mostly listen to music with Android Auto via Spotify, but lately Amazon Music has been pushing its way in. For example, while I'm playing a song from Spotify, it suddenly stops playing it, and when I look at it, Amazon music is active instead of spotify. How can I prevent this? Thanks,
jennix
you could try switchining, use musconv if you do, I used it yesterday to move from spotify to amazon music so I guess it should work the other way around
