Hi,
I modded my Xperia T with Cyanogenmod to jump from Android 4.1.2 to 4.3.1.
After that change, I noticed the standard music player was replaced by Apollo, which sucks up battery power unlike the original music player (it could go for hours and not make a real difference in power consumption, like 3% in 1-2h).
I'd like to have a similar performance but still have it interrupt itself when I get a phone call, watch a movie clip or even better: when the GPS gives instructions (though I appreciate the volume drop when an alert sound plays and the stability of the app when typing text).
Thanks in advance!

I like Poweramp very much. Even prefer it over the Sony Walkman app
I also use PowerAmp. I've tried a few others, but always come back to PowerAmp.

I just noticed something funny.
If you are listening to music using Windows Media Player on your mobile device (WMC_Shekhar) and you open up the camera application, it will speed your music up by 1.5x, 2x, without "chipmonking".
It seems to be due to I/O issues, both apps hogging the same resources.
Try it for lols. Get a rock song, one that you always thought would sound much more awesome slightly faster (like pop rock) and then open your camera application.
Many lols will be had!
Yeah..i have also noticed this ..its been like this since WM 6..You wanna know some thing else
When you are flashing the rom i.e Running the Upgrade Utility on your computer..first Open up WMP and play any of your fav songs..the Upgrade will only take about 15 minutes..I have tried it,shekhar, buzz all have tried it
Wow, that is truly bizarre.
I will have to try it, thanks for letting us know
I'd like to set the music audio lower than my system volume on the tf3d audio player. (I think I'm one of those few who listen to music while going to sleep and I can't get system volume quiet enough to not be annoying).
I've tried Shaps Advanced configuration tool to toggle the music player volume but it must be designed for the old HTC home because I can't tell any difference even after dropping from 100 to 5 and rebooting.
Any ideas? Is there already a knowledge base on this? If so, please point me there as I've done every search I can think of.
Thanks in advance.
you can use windows media player instead.
Yeah. But WMP is much less user-friendly and it doesn't integrate seamlessly with TF3D. If I knew alternatives to TF3D that integrated a good music player on a vga device I would switch. But so far everything I've tried including SBP Shell don't seem to do that well.
Thanks for the suggestion.
TF3D volume too high
Long time after the creation of tis post ...
but I'm experimenting the same issue!
When my volume slider is on the minimum (actually one step above zero), the music volume is still too loud for me.
Has anyone found an issue to that?
Thank's
It's been a long time since I used the Fuze. But as I remember, you could go to the settings in one of the far-right tabs of Touch Flo (if using a customized ROM) and manually change the volume. But it only stayed that way until the next time you changed it. I eventually just bought a set of headphones with their own independent volume slider so I could adjust it that way. It was a clumsy solution and one reason I left Windows Os behind for good. We'll see about their improvements with W7, but I'm skeptical until I see they can get it right.
Hope that helps!
I have the same problem. Minimum volume on my HTC Touch Pro 2 is far too loud when I am in a quiet ambiance.
I would be very interested in a solution.
It is a pity that there are "amplificators" available but obviously no system that could help us protecting our ears !
yeah, I have the same problem, but Nitrogen player looks even more finger friendly and stable, it do not ruin my music library, so everything is just the way it was in my now dead iriver Clix
Looking for a full features (think iPod with a good widget) music player app that displays album are beautifully with the Widget on the desktop and is also quite useful... opinions ?
So there are no good music apps for Android?
Go with Cubed (^3) and you will never look back. Granted the 5.1 surround sound in the stock player was nice but I don't miss it.

Awesome music player, thanks
MixZing is really good and full features. Only con is it's expensive at $6.99
I use the Music player from the Cyanogen ROMs. I found it over on their forum somewhere.

Can't seem to find it over there, could you help me out mate?
I like the Samsung player. My only complaint with it is that it's a bit tedious to set up playlists on, and no widget surpoort. There are a number of really great widgets for the stock Android player, for which I believe I saw a thread that will help you install it, but I haven't gone through the effort to install it so I can't comment much on it.
Cubed is kind of a neat player, great for showing off, but the eye candy makes browsing fairly inefficient (imho), and having the controls at the top of the screen is a pain.

Cubed is good unless you plan on using the lock screen option, then it's garbage.
I was unimpressed with ^3/Cubed. Nice eye candy, but hardly functional.
I have Mixzing installed and it seems useful, but it's my secondary music player right now.
TuneWiki was cool for the lyrics display feature, but the interface is ugly as all hell.
DoubleTwist is the nicest looking and most polished of the bunch, but also no support for m3u playlists not synced via the DoubleTwist client (which was unacceptably slow for me). Maybe I'm just using it wrong.
The default Samsung player would have been great if it would just recognize my m3u playlists. WTF, Samsung.
As is, I actually installed the stock Android player. It's minimal and functional. I've heard MusicMod is a nice addition to it, but it looks like the latest version is only supported on Froyo.
I ended up going back to the default Samsung Player. The lock screen widget works the best of all the apps I tried and it has no issue seeing my playlists I sync over using iSyncr. Its biggest weakness is the lack of controls via the headset button. Play/Pause works but no forward or back.
A friend used bTunes which looks the nicest out there IMO. A close second was Doubletwist but the lack of a lockscreen widget was a deal breaker. Thing I hate the most from all 3rd party apps I tried (aside from dT) was that they all indexed multiple copies of my playlists. It was a pain trying to guess which of the 4-6 copies of my playlists I saw would actually have the music inside them and I got tired of always deleting the blank ones everytime I sync'd.
If Samsung can add some additional headset controls and a smart playlist feature I will be very happy.
I have to say though that the stock Samsung Player is quite handy and non-laggy.
I especially like the 5.1 option, which is god-like.
Other than that, it doesn't have many features but it is convenient.
Nobody has mentioned Meridian; I like it quite a lot.

I'm with you. The 5.1 in my car sounds amazing. I wish I had two options though:
1. I want to "lock" to landscape, without auto-rotate to the CD GUI.
2. It only rotates one way! Turn the phone on it's right side, and the CD GUI is upside down.
If these two issues had workarounds, it would be perfect.
I like DoubleTwist....
I've been using btunes with Widget locker to get lock screen controls. Works nicely!
I use museek. I loved the samsung player but the only issue with it was the sever lack of a random play mode.
Museek REQUIRES ID3 tags.
Museek supports album covers, Last.FM scrobbling, Sleep(auto stop), Lock Orientation,Gapless playback, and its free.
Play modes are: Repeat all, Shuffle (with the option to shuffle whole collection or just with in the playlist), Smart shuffle, Play similar songs (with the option to avoid repeating an artist until a specified threshold of songs have played).

Stock Samsung player has shuffle. Tap the screen and it's the two intertwining arrows just above the progress bar on the left.
So what players have a lock screen function? I hate the dang lock screen on this thing. Maybe I can turn it off, never thought about that.. heh.
The ONLY thing that I don't like about the stock music player is the fact that songs without album art show some gay-looking colored circles... Why not just a simple neutral graphic? Why not give an option to change the default picture?
is there a way to use the music player when you have low battery, its kida annoying when on the train and the music closes because you only have 10% left. I can understand why that is there but it should be my choice and not the phones.
So just like someone hacked the camera is there a way to play music when 10% or below?
I installed musicmod from the market, it's not a Samsung app, it lets you do whatever you want and doesn't dictate how you should be using your phone.
thanks but was looking for a hacked apk for the music player.

and much more,For more info take a look at piratemedia.tv

Yeah everyone rips on Samsung all the time but to be honest, I really like the Galaxy S stock player as well, much better than any other I've seen. It's really well designed (aesthetically). Just wish it was supported by some scrobbling application.
Hello everyone,
Every time I'm listening to music on my MI9 and I get a notification (from WhatsApp or other apps) the music volume goes down for the time of the notification and then goes up again. So if I get 10 notifications the volume of the music I'm listening to goes down and up 10 times in a row... Ugh... It's insane... I can't peacefully listen to music while I drive, for example...
Is there a way to shut off the notification's sound while playing music, or to not let the volume of the music apps going down (It also happen with Amazon music app, not only with the default player).
Thank you for your wise advices
P.s. Phone is not rooted

Hi, I think it's default "correct" behaviour (or could be a bug * working as intended *) on stock MIUI...
You could try to change the ring behavior, i.e. change to DND mode or something ?
As for me, I would recommand taking the time to flash something like Xiaomi.eu rom (can find a lot of info here on XDA), or another custom rom based on MIUI.
That fixed sooooo many of those stupid things with the stock rom, that are just working the way Xiaomi likes, but won't make sense in my opinion (see the notification icons that disapear in favour of the clock on the status bar, even if you don't dismiss them, etc.)
You don"t have to root after but really that's a must I think, it made me keep the phone, haha!
