I want anybody that know how or trying to learn how getting bluetooth tethering working on the Galaxy gear to post their methods on how they got it to work. I tried every way possible with no success. Only way I haven't tried yet was flashing a international Rom.
So help is needed and please let's play nice with each other. I want this on my phone Asap. Don't post links to other threads because I read them all. Lol

Well I got it to work with pdanet but a little slow and screen start flickering. Also won't let me sign in to the play store and battery drain super fast. Start to think it's not worth it.
If you guys want me to post a how to leave a comment below. But keep in mind better ways should come in the future.

Already a few threads for this. Either use a rom with Bluetooth tethering, or use pdanet with wifi turned on in network spoofer (xposed module)
(all require null_ rom as stock does not include tethering profile)
Bluetooth internet is slow in general regardless of device

Hello,
My TB is not rooted. What do you think is the best app for doing wireless tethering? Setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot, I guess.... I'm using a windows 7 PC.
Just do a search for "tether" in the Google Play Store.. I'm rooted.. but the free "clockworkmod (no root)".. looked like it might do the trick, it uses Usb instead of WiFi.
I found the stock app from Verizon to work well before they axed the ability to use it without paying for the service. It was very easy to set up the SSID and password and even monitor the connected devices IIRC.
Root ur phone ur missing out on so much

Thanks for the replies!

I tried out clockworkmod's Tether. It works pretty well, although it does disconnect every once in a while, and it's USB, so my bandwidth is limited by that. Also, it's not as convenient as WiFi.

Yes, this is kind of the type of thing I'm looking for. Not Verizon though.

I'm not quite ready to root this phone yet. But when I do, what would you recommend for a WiFi tether?
Have you tried 1-Click Wifi Tether No Root?
If you go to the play store and search no root tether, it should be the second option down.
I know several people who use this and are satisfied with it.
If you do root your phone in the future, I recommend either WiFi Tether for Root Users or Barnacle WiFi Tether.

I usually use the default one on the custom ROM or wireless tether which both work very nicely and run smoothly.

1-Click Wifi Tether No Root apparently does not work on HTC phones. If anyone knows a workaround to this, please let me know, as 1-Click Wifi Tether No Root seems to be a great app.
And thanks for the info about the rooted apps -- I may try them in the future
I forgot about that. Lol. They don't have HTC phones.
Anyways, just search no root tether in play store and try what's available.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, there seems to be NO way to utilize the WiFi Hotspot Tether on HTC Thunderbolt anymore, rooted or not.
All of the existing WIFI tether apps do not do anything on HTC Thunderbolt. I've tried them all, on multiple ROMs.
The ONLY things I've found that still work are the PRO versions of EasyTether and PdaNet, via USB cord.
I'm still trying to get the bluetooth tether for PdaNet to work, but so far without much success.
I can't wait until next year to get a new phone that I can actually root and wifi-hotspot again.
According to the Foxfi app it's an HTC block not TB specific. That being said I blue tooth tether with no issues at all both CM7 and with Sense roms. I don't even use a special app with CM7 just make devices discoverable and pair, BAM! some native Bluetooth tether automatically kicks in on CM7 and with Sense I use the Foxfi app and follow the blutooth tether instructions. Make sure your devices have tun.ko installed (use tun.ko installer app in the play store). My tablet didn't (asus transformer tf101) so I had to and root is required to do it.

Are you talking about using the stock Verizon WiFi hotspot?
I can work wireless tether perfectly on my (rooted) tbolt... but I don't use the stock Verizon app.

Just checked and Open garden teather works fine on my rooted Tbolt.
It had tried a number of others in the past and they had issues tethering my Asus tablet. Open Garden was about the only one that worked.

What has changed that does not allow tethering? My friend said she was able to tether all the time and now she can't. Says she is on the same ROM (bamf) and has not made any changes,

Same here, I'm at 60gigs and counting. I think the most I've use back in Jan was 145 gigs. My wireless tether works just fine without an issue. Something must be wrong with script on those peoples phones that can't use wireless tether on rooted Tbolt.

Hi there guys,
Which ROMS are you running on your TBolts? I am running Synergy, and like I say it was working up until a couple of weeks back, and now no go. Perhaps I need to switch ROMS or something. I find it strange that several of us are having issue. At any rate, it is very interesting indeed.
Thanks in advance,
Stat

Has anyone figured out how to use a phone's data connection as a wifi connection for the Kindle. In this particular instance an iPhone.. Yes I know they suck and I want to get rid of mine, but in the mean time... I looked into it a little bit, my phone is jailbroken, and the only app I have come accross is PdaNet, which I guess uses adroid too. I just could not get it to work so thats why I am coming here. I am leaving for a long road trip from FL to NC in a couple of weeks and I thought it would be useful. Thanks in advance!!:good:
AW: Thether..
If you have an iphone 4 or later, you can use the personal Wlan hotspot feature.
If you have a 3gs you can only enable a personal bluetooth hotspot for a PAN.
If you have a rooted Kindle you can install the Bluetooth PAN app over the Play Store.

I have root now and would like to get Tethering working. I have rooted all my android phones in the past and used Tether apps but have yet to find any that will work that I have used in the past. I have tried root packages Wifi Tether Router,, did not work. the one from trevor.e.. @gmail.com
See my settings below .
I tried wifi_tether_v3_3-beta2.apk. did not work.
WiFi Tether Settings (Courtesy of dcdgoth):
Device Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup Method: Netd-NDC (master)
Send Netd Max Client Cmd: Check
Wifi-driver reload: Check
Wifi-driver reload 2: Check
Keep Alive - Connection Checking: Check
Routing fix: Check.
Can you please let me know of anyway to Wifi Tether with Root on this Galaxy Note 3 N9005A that you have successfully configured to work.
I don't foxi or any like it. Please Help I appreciate it.
I just used the built in tethering option of android. When the AT&T pop up comes up just hit the home button. Then go back to the settings and it will work.

Not on AT&T without adding the feature and charging additionally for it.
I know Verizon does it for free after the FCC case about the LTE bandwidth.
I've always done the workaround with the wife tether apk... I'll keep trying and searching.

Like other people said, use FoxFi or the native android app. When the box comes up that says call ATT don't push OK, just hit the home button. You now have a wireless access point.

Not sure if this is an old trick or not but hitting home doesn't work. The phone says I have an active wifi network but it is not broadcasting (AT&T is killing any broadcasting).
I was told if I root my gear I can use bluetooth tether and essentially run apps on my gear. The apps I'm looking to run are for my car alarm and ingress. So what I was wondering is what I was told true? And do I just have to root my gear or does my phone have to be rooted as well? Because right now I have the Note 3 completely stock and unrooted.

You dont need to root your gear in order to run custom apps, depending on what type of app it is tho they may or may not work..
I would read up on side loading applications first, test the waters out.. the apps you require may work straight out of the box by simply side loading them to your gear with out rooting.
Alternatively if you find the apps dont work, you can try loading my rom which includes a few library's, unlocked features & other various functions that some apps require in order to run correctly.
EDIT: Here is a simple guide on how to sideload applications: HERE

Awesome thank you! I'll have to read up on how you sideload apps. I saw a YouTube video where guy was actually playing ingress on his watch, what was on his phone screen transferred to watch screen same for his car alarm app, he just didn't say if it was rooted or not I just figured it was lol. Sorry had to edit my post. I do think you probably needs to be rooted to run something like ingress since it's an online game and the gear can't run anything online like a game or Facebook so I guess maybe that's why it has to be rooted and use a Bluetooth transfer lol I'm a very big newbie when it comes to the gear.

Bluetooth tethering is the easiest way. If you root your watch you can actually install play store and download as if it's a tablet tethered. Some apps may need to be wifi spoofed with is a xposed module included in null.
Keep in mind your phone needs to be running an international rom. I had to get rid of my T-Mobile rom for an international to enable Bluetooth tethering. Wasn't the watch holding me back, rather the phone itself
