Okay, first thing first. (INFO ON PHONE) I have a HTC One (M7wls) Sprint 36GB phone. Phone is ROOTED.
bootloader:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
M7_WLS PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-3.05.651.6
eMMC boot 2048MB
What can I access:
Fastboot
ADB Sideload
Recovery - I am using custom recovery - openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7wls
Now the problem is:
When I install a ROM. Every ROM that I use didn't fully complete installing. When it boot up, can't access home screen, like i can't even do nothing, If I'm not making any sense what I'm trying, basically I don't have no OS-install. And when I install a ROM and do the ADB sideload and install em I just can't get to the home screen , farthest I can go is the lockscreen, but then that don't even act right, as in either it don't want to slide up (by the way my screen work and digitizer) or its blank/black and I can even slide it up, or as i should say froze for about few sec, AND when i can slide up the lockscreen it goes to the white HTC logo screen and stays there about 45-60sec and Reboot over and over, until i go into either recovery or bootloader and power it down.
ROMs that I've downloaded and install but don't completely works:
- Android_Revolution_HD-One_51.0
- One_4.19.401.8_odexed
- Sprint_HTC_One_1.29.651.10_Stock_Odexed_05.17.13
- Sprint_HTC_One_Stock_Rooted_Odexed_3.05.651.6
- viperROM_One_v1.0.4
What I'm saying is that, for example of What I do to install:
-Boot in Recovery
-Format Data (so i can mount data)
-Erase cache
-Reboot recovery (so the updating partition data can refresh)
-Access ADB Sideload
-Install a ROM (once complete) i reboot the phone
-After all the boot up LOGOs, WHEN I get to the lockscreen it either , 1. don't want to slide up, 2. when do slide up goes to white HTC logo screen get stays about 60sec, then Reboot itself , and 3. Just done want to boot up
Also have Tried RUUs: and Yes I unzip to run the Ruu.exe
- Sprint_HTC_One_m7wls_3_04_651_2_RUU.zip
- Sprint_HTC_One_m7wls_1.29.651.10_RUU.zip
Also and Yes I re-lock my bootloader to run the RUU , still doesn't happen
I'm not sure which one have this problem, but one of em, Do go through the process and once I get to the part to update Image (I realized my phone image is newer than the RUU image) so i proceed anyways, then it comes to a screen where it say ERROR find the latest Update for RUU. THE second one of em , once i run the program and pop-up screen comes where you accept the terms & conditions, once I do accept it; It closes OUT by itself.
I'VE DONE THE BEST I CAN DO , and I'm very frustrated right now. I've look and look and research, But nothing solve my problem, and I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS LONG ARTICLE/QUESTION. But I'm asking for anyone help who can help me get back this phone back on its feet and I will very appreciate for your help !
P.S. I can't get S-OFF , I want to use my AT&T sim card in it.

I had a similar problem. Turned out to be a firmware issue.
Boot into fastboot and connect to your computer.
run "fastboot getvar all"
See what firmware you are running.
Pull the firmware from post #3 on Bad Boyz thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635051
and run.. the flash is there twice, make sure and do it twice.. it's not a typo.
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
If you still have trouble, try flashing an older firmware from here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2503646
In my situation, I flashed to 3.05.651.6 and it would boot, but once I connected to the PC and tried to access the storage on the phone, it would reboot the phone.
Flashing to 4.06.651.4 fixed everything.
Look HERE for the 3.05.651.6 RUU or you can go thru the steps to fix your phone.
From now on stay in the Sprint section to find roms

When doing the fastboot commands, it gives me error twice when doing the firmware and YES I renamed it to "firmware.zip"
gives me error message saying "cannot open" and also re-type in command again , same error
hmm.. let me try to duplicate my error later today on one of my test phones and i'll get back to you.
What ROM are you trying to install?

Make sure it's firmware.zip and not firmware.zip.zip
Window hides extentions as least on my machine it does.
So rename it just firmware and see if that helps

That was my mistake, but rename it to "firmware" . now its working. Phone is back up on its feet. lol.
Just want to say thank you for your support and help. Phone is flawless, Thanks you so much again.
HAVE A BLESSED DAY !
I did the same thing by accident. Flashed the old firmware instead of the new by accident and then kept trying to update with the same problems. Since only the first and last digits of the firmware are different and I had them in the same folder I just grabbed the wrong one. All was fixed as with you when I corrected my firmware.

Hi everyone!! I bought my htc one 802w China unicom version 1 month ago. After reading all the threats and documenting to do the Root, i did it. Now my phone is running and working fine with also google apps. My question is, now i want to update to the version 2.30.1402.1 but i can't, in Cwm say that is failed.
I read that i need to instal a nandroid backup, flash the stock recovery, lock the boot loader and then update via Ota, and root again the device.
Can someone help me, because i don´t know the commands to flash the stock recovery or where should i do it?
Thanks for the help!!

I live in this thread but i didn't find how to flash the stock recovery to the phone. If you can tell me how and the commands that i need to write i will really apreciate it. Thanks ^^
Is all written on first page. Including link to stock recovery. Why lie to me ? Read please.
Sent from my HTC 802w Dual Sim
I dont lie!! Im just new with Android system and i want to know how to do it. I download the link of stock recovery 4.2.1. Is something like m7-stock-802.img.
so should i do is fastboot flast recovery m7-stock-802w.img and then lock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock) , and instal the update from the phone?
My question is: This stock recovery file what i do with it. I copy it to the sd card and flash it trought the CMW? or i open the command window and do the fasboot flash stock recovery file?
What i want is to be able to do the update to the 2.30.1401.1
It's not because i dont read, it's because i dont understand very good how to do the things and im afraid to brick my phone.
Thanks i really appreciate your help.
Hope this helps:

Hi Yago,
I dont have your phone, I have the International One...but I think I can help you out.
If you phone works the same as the International One, and my old SensationXE and Desire before that then all you need is the recovery to be installed. You dont need to re-lock your bootloader. The steps I would do are:
1) Download the Stock Recovery (m7-stock-802w.img - if that is what it is called)
2) Switch off the phone and boot it into Bootloader (Power & Vol Down - if same as International)
3) Connect the phone to your computer with usb cable.
4) Open a command window in the folder where the Stock Recovery file is placed
5) Type the following: fastboot flash recovery m7-stock-802w.img (This will flash Stock Recovery to your phone)
6) Reboot phone
7) Try OTA update again
This should work for you, though you may need to reapply root afterwards or try a OTA Root Keeper app to preserve your root. If after the update you wanted to go back to CWM then you can follow steps 1-6 again but with the CWM Recovery file instead.
Hope this helps!
Thanks!! As soon as I arrive back home I will try to do it and later will post here with my result. Maybe like this works because I want to update always the phone. The only reason why I unlock the phone is because I live in china and here we don't have the google apps. So is really annoying be reading in my Chinese that is not very good. Really I appreciate the help. Againg thank you very much
I just came back home and I flash the stock recovery. I typed fastboot flash .... And rooted the phone. Then I download using the software updates and download to the phone the new version 2.30.1402.1. I proceed to install but when the phone reboot went to recovery ( say entering recovery) but didn't go into recovery. Then start again the phone without installing the new software version. I don't know what I did wrong or what I need to do. Also I tried to download the ota file from the Htc one 802w thread but when I went to CMW I couldn't installed.
Any suggestions??
I will really appreciate the help!!!
Have you tried to boot into Recovery from boot menu?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes!! when i do the fastboot flash recovery m7-stock-recovery.img if i go to boot menú and from there to recovery doesn´t enter.
the thing is that i would like to be able to update the phone when i want.
Now i just when back to the cwm802w.img because from there i can go to recovery mode. In other thread i doewnload the OTA file 2.30.1402.1 but when i am trying to installed from the recovery it always fails or don´t find the file.
It´s really strange...
The stock recovery is for the 4.2.1 and now im on the 4.2.2. Maybe can be because of this and i need to find a stock recovery versión of the 4.2.2??
It sounds like the Stock Recovery image you have is not the correct one for ur phone. You should be able to go into Recovery from bootloader and see the warning triangle.
I would try to get another version of the recovery file from somewhere. Then it should work no problems.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
this is stock recovery for 2.25 OS. Since i don't know what is your OS version i assumed is 2.25. >>> http://d-h.st/dKR <<< flash with command : flash recovery recovery.img
This are the caracteristics of my phone.

the phone reboot and at the beggining shows a symbol like is updating and start installing, but in the middle a warning triangle appears and stay there. I need to hold power+volum down to restart the phone and nothing happend.
What i did is
1 download the stock revovery
2 reboot the phone into bootmode
3 flash the recovery image : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4 reboot the phone
5 go to update the software
6 install the version 2.30.1402.1
Wait for 20 min and the warning triangle with exclamation symbol doesnt disapear
Should i lock the bootloader to do this?? Yesterday they told me that i dont need but who knows....
Ok, as silly as this sounds but keep rebooting you phone / updating it and it will do it eventually. There are quite a few people that have said the same thing and they said just keep trying and after the 6rh or 7th try it should work.

YES, stock recovery is only a triangle
yes , you MUST lock bootloader for OTA (you can unlock later again ).
Ok I flash the stock recovery by typing: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Then i lock the bootloader by typing: fastboot oem lock
With bootloader relocked
I go to setting/about/software update/ and download the version 2.30.1402.1
After downloaded the version i proceed to install.
The phone reboot anf shows to arrows making a circle and a down arrow inside. start to download with a blue bar but when it's on the middle appears one warning triangle red color with exlamation symbol inside.
After 5 min the phone reebot and i strt the process again, i hope that in the 21 th time will work hahahaha
Thanks for the help!!! I will keep trying eveything to update!! I love the Htc One but my goodness is so difficult to do the thing in android system when you dont know... Thanks for everyone that is helping me!!

did you manage to install the update after all ? ...seems i have the same problem
Hello, I've been raking up the other xda posts all night and can't seem to find the right solution for my situation. Am a total noob so would really appreciate any instructions, whether to solve the problem or to point me to the right post. Quite lost here.
So, I've been trying to return my HTC one to stock (hk version; CID: HTC__622; modelid: PN0714000) and got into trouble. I used to have CM 10.2 with TWRP recovery. So I used TWRP to install what I thought was a stock ROM (not sure if I'm using the terms right) My current situation, in gist:
(1) Can only load into bootloader, if reboot normally then I get htc splash screen then black screen. -->Refuses to boot into the operating system!!!!!! All I get is the htc flash screen then the black screen until eternity (or I force reboot it by holding vol down and power button under strong light-- tip I got from these parts)
(2) Bootloader (top of) reads "tampered" (which I'm least concerned with) and "relocked"
(at one point it said "security warning" as well… but then that disappeared-- see below)
(3) I cannot use adb via either my Mac/ Windows, I have downloaded google SDK and updated HTC drivers on both machines-- adb devices command simply does not register my phone
(4) atm I am only communicating to my phone via fastboot commands… of which I know next to nth except what are commonly found in these forums…
(5) My machine is still S-off. Before my troubles, it was hboot 1.54, after messing around with it, it's now 1.55 if that makes any difference.
I desperate need my phone for the working week…. PLEASE HELP!!!
FYI: I'm on a Mac, but I do have access to a Windows machine running Windows 7
What I have done so far:-
(1) So I was trying to get back to stock, right? First thing I did was used HTC1guru's Guru reset. The ROM I installed was actually for the Asia WWE variant.
Anyway, so I installed it, and it worked, to the extent that I could get OTA notifications and downloaded the update. But HTC could not verify it and did not allow me to install the update. Because I wanted the Kitkat update, I looked up the net to see what could be the problem.
(2) The next mistake I made (probably a mistake) was to think that I had to relock the bootloader. So I did that. Now my Bootloader is relocked and I cannot, for the life of me unlock it again (I've tried going through the HTC dev steps and flashing the new Unlock_code.bin again but I can't unlock it)
At this point, the bootloader also read "security warning" under "relocked"
Subsequent to relocking it, I can't get into my operating system anymore. The only 2 outcomes I get on reboot are (1) HTC splash screen followed by black screen; OR (2) bootloader (if I do power + vol down)
(3) As one 'brilliant' idea followed another 'brilliant' idea, I also did the following list of silly and probably mistaken things our of sheer desperation. Throwing the kitchen sink in really. But none of them really worked because they all say sign not verified or sth to that effect-- I honestly am beginning to forget the order in which things unfolded… but if that's relevant, let me know and I'll try to recall more details.
(a) flash a recovery.img (stock, for both Asia WWE and HK version which I found on the web; and also TWRP)
(b) flash boot.img from Asia WWE
(c )tried rumrunner (can't do because adb won't work)
My latest attempt has been flash oem reboot RUU (then used zip of HK version 1.29.708 Rom zip)
and my phone is now stuck at the grey HTC on black background screen one gets after the first reboot RUU command (terminal has not prompted me to enter a second rebootRUU command yet!)
I don't know what to do. I don't even know if I should unplug the phone and redo the rebootRUU thing…
:crying: PLEASE HELP!!!!

First flash a recovery(use Case 2):
No Recovery? No Problem
Oh sh*t here we can have several kind of problems Still no problem But let's first download the recovery.
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/m7/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
(MD5 hash: 72067AEFB69541D40E8420D7AA46408D)
Case 1 - Normal error with unlocked and s off or s on:
Boot your phone into the fastboot mode
Eat a piece of cheese
Enter this command
Code:
fastboot erase cache
Followed by this command
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "C:\path_to_recovery\recovery_name.img"
And enter the recovery and follow the next piece of guide
Case 2 - For some stupid reason you are s off (that's a MUST) and Relocked:
Sorry, you need this recovery:
https://www.mediafire.com/?ni177radvko5xu7 (If it doesn't work, PM me)
(MD5 hash: F2893CDC17C788B2E49AECEA8C02DCB4)
Boot your awesome HTC One into fastboot
Change CID to superCID using this command (make sure you used 8 times a '1')
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
Enter this command
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Wait until your Pc recognized your phone again and enter this command
Code:
fastboot flash zip "C:\path_to_zip\firmware.zip"
(This may delete all your data)
Happy rebooting with this command
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Enter the recovery and let's unlock the bootloader...
You can unlock your bootloader using these commands(thanks @scotty1223 for your thread!):
[how to] lock/unlock your bootloader without htcdev(s-off required)
If this doesn't work in recovery because you get superSU or permission errors, use this tool here instead:
http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/guru-bootloader-reset/
You can simply push the ZIP file to your HTC One using one of these commands:
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_zip\zip_name.zip" /sdcard/bootloader_reset.zip
If this one results in supersu and permission errors, try these paths(Thanks @Sneakyghost for this advice!)
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_zip\zip_name.zip" /storage/emulated/0/bootloader_reset.zip
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_zip\zip_name.zip" /data/media/0/bootloader_reset.zip
Case 3 - You totally ****ed up your recovery and data partition:
Right now, I am pretty busy and I don't have time to develop this, check this guide there and post your question there, but pls don't spam @mike1986.
How to: fix a corrupted DATA partition on the HTC One
now you are unlocked and s off... so what we're gonna do depends on what you want to achieve... I didn't really get what you meant in the first post.. you want to be again 100% stock on a Asian ROM ?
with the unlocked bootloader and s off and the custom recovery you are pretty much able to flash the rom you want to the device... how to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632736
or:
Bootloop, No OS, Totally f*cked up OS? No Problem
THIS WILL DELETA ALL YOUR APPS AND APP DATA BUT NOT SDCARD!
First of all, make a factory reset in TWRP... then follow the next steps.
Now the key step here copying the rom.zip to your sdcard. You do this this way
Since you are in the recovery you should be able, no.. actually will be able to use adb commands
To copy the rom zip us this command:
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_rom\rom_name.zip" /sdcard/rom.zip
If this one results in supersu and permission errors, try these paths(Thanks @Sneakyghost for this advice!)
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_rom\rom_name.zip" /storage/emulated/0/rom.zip
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_rom\rom_name.zip" /data/media/0/rom.zip
Now, in the recovery, choose install and select the rom you should've just copied and install/flash it.
After that make a factory reset, the standart when chosing wipe in TWRP.
Happy rebooting!

Hello, LibertyMarine, thanks for the response!
I've already downloaded TWRP recovery from the TWRP website, is the one you give me different?
Re: Case one-- I've actually tried flashing the TWRP recovery image before, but it doesn't seem to work. Thing is, I've idiotically relocked my HTC one now, so that might be the problem.
This is what I get when I try to flash TWRP recovery:-
fastboot flash recovery TWRPrecovery.img
target reported max download size of 1526722560 bytes
sending 'recovery' (9948 KB)...
OKAY [ 11.854s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 12.707s
as for unlocking my relocked bootloader, I've tried numerous times and I simply cannot get my relocked bootloader to unlock again. Whenever I put in the "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" (and yes, I've put the Unlock_code.bin into the same folder as fastboot and adb, the terminal gets stuck at "sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)…"
and nothing happens on my phone.
Re: Case two-- I'm one of those poor S-on folks so…
Re: Case 3-- looks like they need custom recovery flashed already… but (see Case one above), I can't seem to flash TWRP on my poor phone … : (
As to the last solution-- totally f-ed up OS etc…. again, I don't have TWRP… nor can I used adb
I'd be ever so grateful if I can just find a way to put twrp on my phone again! o gawd….
THanks again for all suggestions!!

Coucou !
I need to put my HTC Desire C back as new, therefore I looked for RUU stuff.
I checked this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035480, trying to follow it the more I can. HTC Sync as well as Android SDK (up to date) are present on my laptop using Windows 7 64.
1. I re-lock the phone: fastboot oem lock.
2. I downloaded the RUU from: http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Golf, file: RUU_GOLF_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_2.00.401.2_Radio_10.11.98.09H_1.06.98.13M2_release_295101_signed.exe
3. I ran with administrator rights the RUU til first screen, asking for agreement.
4. I extracted the recovery_signed.img and flashed it. Fine.
5. I followed the instructions on the screen.
6. It says (translation from french, sorry if it's not exactly what you'll have on an english screen): "checking", "rebooting to bootloader", "waiting for bootloader", "erase user's data" and finally "sending". On my phone screen, there is a white HTC on a black screen.
And it is stuck there. I waited for an hour, still there.
When I disconnect the phone, it says:
- On my computer: error 155: error to image update
- On my phone: a white RUU on an orange background, under classical "*** Relocked ***" (and sometimes "*** Security warning ***") and "GolfU PVT SHIP S-ON RL", then "HBOOT-1.31.000", then "RADIO-1.10.98.15", then "eMMC-boot", then "Jul 12 2012, 15:44:30".
I followed the instruction to "recover" (correct ? button at the bottom and righ of the window), nothing good. I restarted the phone, the laptop, nothing changes.
What can I do?
If you want, I can take screen captures to show you.
i think you also need to flash the stock boot.img
Coucou Bogdy,
First of all, I'd like to thank you for your answer. But, sadly, it didn't work.
I flashed the boot.img, extracted from the "temp" directory , like this:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
I ran the program and the same thing, stuck on HTC logo, then started the repair stuff, and again stuck on HTC logo.
Does somebody have an idea?
you could also try flashing a stock rom+boot+recovery from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2220396&page=2
from what i experienced with a stock based custom rom is that when activating data connection the phone restarts(radio versions differ) so this could happen with a stock rom(not sure)
as for the RUU,i've read that if the hboot version on the phone is higher than the RUU's it won't flash. also i think that the RUU you have only works on european CID but i could be wrong.
you should wait for a more "PRO" answer
Thanks again for your answer, Bogdy.
I'm downloading from the link from the post you suggest me. When it's finished, good or bad, I'll come back.
Coucou !
Well done. Now it's OK, I could flash the original ROM and the phone works perfectly.
Thank you for your help.

You could also do this: - lock bootloader
- power on device
- enable adb debugging on device
- make sure you have adb and fasboot working corectly
- connect device via usb to PC
- run RUU with administrator rights
- and from there on just follow the instructions given by software
you really need the 2-4 lines i mentioned up for this to work
no need to flash anything recovery or boot if it's an .exe
if it's a .zip you need to :
flash via custom recovery and flash boot and recovery via fastboot
Coucou Makerrr,
More or less, it is what I've done. I haven't check if adb were working, nevertheless. So it may be the cause of all my problems. But I won't know because I followed Bogdy's way and the job is done, the phone is completly configured, and already in my wife's hand.
Next time, I'll try your way. So thanks a lot.
Hello,
I am a newbie to the forum. I posses only limited knowledge.
I use a HTC one M7 developers editions. I dropped my phone and since then it had gone in a boot loop and I am not able to get through out of the home screen. It just keeps rebooting.

I tried to flash the RUU with the help of one of the threads here using an .exe file. As my phone was s-on, I was not able to use the zip. But it kept giving me a error 155. I then tried to have the s-off with FIREWATER to have an earlier RUU like 4.3 installed but I couldn't turn on the USB debugging from the inside of the phone.
I am not sure of what to do now. Any sort of help would be great.
Thanks a lot

that ruu can not be flashed on your phone, because it require s-off.
I think you probably have hardware damage since your phone started bootlooping after you have dropped it. however you could try to restore the 6.07.1540.1 nandroid backup posted in the dev edition update thread in the general section and see if your phone can boot normaly

There is no RUU for your version, the RUU you tried to run was a lower version and you can not run a lower version with being S-ON. If you have TWRP installed you can try to flash a nandroid 6.07.1540.1.

Let try these steps:
1. If you don't have fastboot and adb installed then use Minimal ADB & Fastboot TooL to install them. We will not be able to use the ADB commands but we will be able to use the fastboot commands.
2. Download and place in your adb and fastboot folder TWRP 2.7.1.2 and firmware 6.07.1540.1 (the unmodified one) rename to firmware.zip
3, We need to boot the phone into bootloader. Completely power off your phone. Once the phone is off, press and hold the Power Button + Vol Down the phone will boot into the bootloader. Using the Vol Buttons will move the selection up and down. Highlight or select FASTBOOT, then press the Pwr button to select. Once selected, you should see FASTBOOT where it previously said HBOOT.
4. Connect your phone to the computer, it should say FASTBOOT USB.
5. In the command window type the following commands:
Code:
[B][I][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot devices[/COLOR][/I][/B]
Note: Should see your "serial number device" Copy down your serial number
Code:
[B][I][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot oem rebootRUU[/COLOR][/I][/B]
Note: You should see a silver HTC logo come up on your phone after executing this command.
Note: if this command freezes, just disconnect the USB cable and hold the power and volume down buttons until the device reboots. Then, repeat the steps above again.
Code:
[I][B][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot flash zip firmware.zip[/COLOR][/B][/I]
Note: This will fail, message to say "please flush image again immediately" Just run the command again!
Code:
[B][I][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot flash zip firmware.zip[/COLOR][/I][/B]
Note: The green bar on the phone may not go to 100% of the bar ... but If you see completed on your computer command window, wait for a few seconds and move on.
Code:
[B][I][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot reboot[/COLOR][/I][/B]
Note: Your phone should boot up normally
If it doesn't or you just want to put the nandroid on your phone here is how it is done:
Unzip the nandroid and it will make its own folders on your PC. Since you don't have TWRP installed on your phone you will need to make some folders. Connect your phone to your PC, once it is connected open the Internal Storage folder. Here make a new folder called TWRP. Open that folder make a folder called BACKUPS. Open that folder and make a new folder the name will be your serial number that you copied earlier. Now copy the entire folder the nandroid made earlier to this folder.
Now boot into the bootloader like you did earlier.
Code:
[B][I][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.7.1.2-m7.img[/COLOR][/I][/B]
Code:
[B][I][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot erase cache[/COLOR][/I][/B]
Code:
[B][I][COLOR="Blue"]fastboot reboot-bootloader[/COLOR][/I][/B]
Once back in the bootloader, select bootloader and on the next screen select Recovery. When TWRP boots up you will have a number of tiles Backup is one and Restore is another. For sanity sake, I would backup the present system before I restored the nandroid. When you select Restore you should see two if you made a backup the one with the name of the file folder you moved is the nandroid backup. Select it and once it is complete select reboot system and you are done.
So, I took a look around the forums thinking that maybe another newbie such myself did this thing but apparently I am one of a kind. So here is my story:
I have my HTC One M7 since the summer of 2014, I rooted it without any problems and unrooted it when the Lollipop update came out. After two or three days of the update, I had a problem where my phone would lose all sounds and would be unable to play any media that involved music. I thought it might be a software problem so I rooted it again and I installed the ViperOne ROM from the forums. Despite the fact that I really loved the ROM, the problem insisted and once/twice a day I needed to clear cache, restart the phone and if I was lucky it would go away on the first trial.
P.S. The problem only occurred when a call started.
This past Friday however, the problem wouldn't go away no matter what I did. My phone had lost all sounds and I couldn't do anything about it. Ringtones, alarms, videos, youtube, calls, even the bootup sound, nothing.
So I decided to redo everything from the beginning, in case I did something wrong and with the hope that it will just get fixed. Thinking that my software was the problem, I decided not to do a backup (please don't kill me I know it was a stupid decision) and to just wipe everything off, and do it from scratch. I re-installed viper as a first step but it didn't fix. I wiped the whole system and data partitions and installed the ROM again, nothing. Then I tried to install a clean HTC RUU and I found that the latest was this one
Code:
RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_4.19.1540.9_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353887_signed_3
but it needed to be installed through HTC Sync and it just wouldn't work. I was getting a message that the phone was not connected.
Uninstalled HTC Sync, Re-installed HTCDriver_4.1.0.001 and downloaded a KitKat ROM from HTC1Guru site but when I tried to install it, I was getting an error message from the TWRP recovery.
Next, I downloaded Guru_Reset_M7_2.24.401.8, installed it, opened it, sound still wouldn't work no matter what. Also, while I installed the Guru Reset, I was asked if I wanted to also install stock recovery and I said yes. Since this ROM was able to be installed, I started doing the OTA updates with the hope that one of them might fix the sound problem. On the third update, the phone got bricked and stuck in a bootloop.
At this point, I can only enter bootloader without the phone crashing.
Recovery gives me a Red triangle with an exclamation mark in it.
Factory Reset goes bootloop.
And the worst of all is that now my PC doesn't recognize the device and fastboot commands give me the "waiting for device" middle finger and I can't do anything.

TL;DR
phone got bricked and stuck in a bootloop.
Please help me I don't know what to do and I cannot send it to service to fix it because the Bootloader has the "Tampered" message on top.
This is what my bootloader has:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.61.0000
RADIO-4A.17.3250.14
OpenDSP-v35.120.274.0718

oops, that's the wrong RUU for you phone, I would also hazard a guess that the guru reset is just too old, the key for you is in the numbers, your current os is 7.19.401.2 its the 401 part which matters the most, the 7 part is also android revision, as your on 7, I would say 2 is very too old for your phone., the RUU you tried to use if you look at the numbers is android revision 4 developer edition 1540 (4.19.1540.9) hope that explains that a little for you.
The red exclamation mark is stock recovery, when you see that symbol, press volume up and power a few times and you'll get the menu.
well the first thing you need to do is get your drivers sorted, so uninstall HTC sync manager and the drivers now restart your computer, then re-download it, install it, and then go into add/remove programs and remove HTC sync, just above it you will see HTC driver package, leave that alone.
now boot your phone into the bootloader, fastboot USB mode and plug it into the computer, leave it alone to detect your phone ands install the fastboot drivers.
your going to need to download 2 files: your RUU zip and HTC's fastboot to flash it: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934554130 rename this file to RUU for ease, and also download this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891970, put both files on your computer in the same folder as your current adb and fastboot files, then just issue these commands, this will wipe your entire phone by the way, but I think you've probably already done that anyway.
fastboot oem lock
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
your phone should now say tampered and relocked at the top
fastboot oem rebootRUU black screen silver HTC logo
htc_fastboot flash zip RUU.zip notice your now using the HTC fastboot, the normal one wont work for this flash
it take about 10 mins to flash, at the end make sure it says successful and OKAY, final commands are:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot reboot
phone should now boot, it will be a first time boot so may take a while

Thank you very much for your help Seanie. I followed all the steps as you described but I still get "waiting for device" message in the command prompt. How can I overcome this? Is it supposed to be a problem with the drivers?

yes it's a driver issue
see nkk71 guide post 2 faq 2 / to get fastboot working with your phone

Thank you for your reply! I downloaded the drivers from the guide and it works. I'm on step 5 now and waiting for flash to end.
EDIT: So everything worked perfectly and I finally was able to turn my phone on again. Thank you very much for your assistance!
Bad news is that the sound problem is still here. I really have no idea on what would be the problem. Maybe it has something to do with the hardware and the whole Lollipop upgrade was an unfortunate moment. I guess I'll start another thread in the following days to see if anyone can help with that.
