[Q] Modification of Lockscreen Orientation in Android 2.3.6 - Samsung Galaxy Mini

For a project I am modding a Samsung Galaxy mini plus (GT-S5570i) and I want to change the orientation of the lockscreen to be always horizontal. I know that there are multiple apps that can lock it to horizontal. The problem is that after booting and before launcher comes up, the lockscreen is shown for a while and all apps will be activated afterwards. Therefore, I always see the lockscreen in the portrait mode within this period.
I had modified the xml layout of the framework-res.apk and succeeded to change the text inside lockscreen (changing the "swipe to unlock") but changing the layout into horizontal does not work.
Also because it is android 2.3.6 it is not possible to completely disable the lockscreen.
I want to know what and how to modify the framework to make the lockscreen be always horizontal.

I meant that "does themer take a lot of ram"
When I use themer with nova launcher it just gets slow like hell

[Q] Lockscreen settings

I'm on ARHD 20.1 and I would love to have a cleaner look on my lockscreen and remove, the clock as well as the defaults apps which are in my dock. It used to be you could edit and choose the apps that are displayed in the lockscreen but now i can only edit the wallpaper.
Any ideas ?

The only way to remove the apps on the lockscreen is to use a different launcher and remove all apps from the dock in Sense before switching to the 3rd party launcher, or, don't have any apps in the dock if you want to use Sense. With regards to the clock on the lockscreen, the only way to remove it is to use ViperOne ROM which has an option to disable it by way of a built in Mod (which I did ask the Dev about releasing it as a standalone Mod as I don't want to use Viper, I had no reply though) ... The other workaround is to delete HTCLockScreen.apk and use the default, Android lockscreen, this has issues though such as having to unlock to answer a call, no message notifications other than in the notification pulldown and same goes for missed calls ... The one positive though is you would do away with the weather and the apps on your lockscreen, and, btw of running some command in terminal, you can enable the ability to have different widgets such as cLock which lets you change colours and depending on your wallpaper, would allow for the possibility of having no clock (purely by having, for example, a black wallpaper and setting cLock up so that the fonts are black, this would essentially hide the clock from your lockscreen.
I use Apex Launcher but I edited a lot of apk's icons manually and they are incorporated into my ROM, same with Mods. I edited icons, menus, alsorts lol to get it set up right and flashable in one go rather than flashing loads of different Mods, it looks the same on Sense does mine btw as the icons in my dock are actually edited right in the apk rather than just chaging them on Apex ... It looks like this:

How did you remove the carrier name?
Hi,
is it really impossible for the moment to have a normally-working lockscreen or "no lockscreen", that does not eat the battery on HTC One?
I have noticed by "OS monitor", that even if I set "HTC no-lockscreen" active - idlescreen process keeps accessing my phone constantly and eating the battery, because it accesses WeatherProvider all the time! I don't want to use weather at all while my phone is locked and besides, I have a third-party Elecon HD weather app that I do use.
When in my custom ROM I set AOSP lockscreen as active - I have to unlock my screen on incoming call and alarming, as described here.
Just want to make sure: no any solution for the moment - to MAKE HTC lockscreen not to access weather service to save battery OR to customize side-lockscreen so, that it would auto-unlock my phone when alarming or incoming call?

change stock icons?

Is there a simple way of changing some of the stock Xperia icons (diaper, messaging etc.) without resorting to rooting or a different launcher? Rather than mess with Nova I'd rather just change 3-4 icons on the Xperia launcher and be done with it. Not sure if an icon editing app like Beautiful Icon Styler works with Xperia or not (and it sounds like Lollipop will break it anyway)

Icon changer free, no root or specialties, just install and change away - download an icon pack you like through the app

Are you willing to change all the icons One by one? Thanks for suggestion but it takes too much....

[Q] Change home button icon

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the home button icon, i.e rather than a picture of a little house, have say a car, or writing like "Xperia", or anything else?
Also, is it possible to just change the app icons, rather than having a launcher to change the whole home screen like Nova Launcher. I like the way I have arranged my apps and widgets etc, and I use my own pictures for backgrounds, I would just like to use different icons for the apps?
Thanks - I am new to the forum so apologies - I am not a developer, have not rooted my phone and don't know what to do with apk ?

O.K, let's simplify this...
Root device and install xposed framework.
Install Xperia xposed module and you'll be able to change home button/icon.
Install Unicon, xposed module to change apps icons.
Download themes from market (for ADW launcher) and use those themes icons.
- You'll get it once you open unicon -
There are other ways to change app icons and home button, decompiling apk and change ongs (assets) in xxhdpi folder but without root there's no chance to do that...
And yeah...you are in wrong section buddy..
Use Q&A for this types if threads.
You can change the home/back etc. buttons by changing your xperia specific theme in the appearance section in your settings. I personally have applied an Android L theme and have the official 5.0 square, triangle and circle.
As for the icons, I don't think so, unless you're willing to install a custom launcher. I recommend nova, you can categorize your apps just as efficiently if not more with the Prime version.
This is the way to go if you don't want to root your device as the upper poster suggested.
The best way is changing theme apperance.
There's an app on the Play Store called Softkeyz which dies exactly that.

"unicon" app (xposed module) can change app icons in xperia home launcher. download any icon pack and apply it
``
you can change it by rooting your phone , and xposed installed . then you use module 'xStana'{Recommended} or 'XPERIA/AOSP NavBar Button' for the softkey , you can change what you like .

How to use different grid sizes at the same time (4x4 on home and 5x5 on next screen)

I'm on a Samsung Note 5 and I've been trying to make my widgets more readable by having them on a 4x4 grid sized screen, but I really like the room that I get for my app icons on the 5x5 screens. Is there any way that I can have both going on at the same time?
I'm rooted and on BreakDown's DPD1 v2.1 rom. I've got Xposed and have tried many different apps from the Play Store, Xposed, etc. I've also tried apps that change the DPI setting of my apps, and they do help with my widgets, but they ruin the app when I open them. For example, I can't reach the "Delete" button in Evernote because the DPI settings have made it sink under the screen. It makes the widget just the right size though. No 3rd party launcher seems to be able to do what I want either. I thought Zen UI could, but the grid size option is only for the app drawer and not the homescreen.
Ideally, I'd like for there to be a button or setting that let's me change the grid size on a per screen basis, instead of the universal setting that there is now. Can anyone help me out?

Wallpaper Motion Effect and Rotation for stock TW launcher

Hi folks,
i really like the wallpaper motion effect, but to use it you have to set the Touchwiz Launcher as default. If you have a theme running or more than the TW launcher you can´t choose the motion effect. so i decided to make a little, litle script to switch the settings from "0" to "1". You have to run it on a rooted device with a script executer like Root browser.(rename the files from txt to sh)
I also modded the wallpapercropper2 (oreo) so you have always the option for motion effect independently if the stock TW launcher is set as default. Just swap it with an file explorer in system/priv-app/wallpapercropper2.
Enjoy it!
Wallpaper rotation
On the stock TW launcher on my Note 8 the wallpaper rotatin works if i cange that line in sytem/etc/floating_feature.xml
Code:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>MOTION,INFINITY,VIDEO,[COLOR="red"]INCONSISTENCY[/COLOR]</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>
to
Code:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>MOTION,INFINITY,VIDEO,[COLOR="Red"]CONSISTENCY[/COLOR]</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_LOCKSCREEN_CONFIG_WALLPAPER_STYLE>
This is just for stock TW launcher!!!
Lekker...

Hi Dev, this is what i was looking for for some time now. Thanks.
However i have enabled this and does not seem to be working on nova launcher.
Any advice? I also can't run the script on my device, am rooted using fx explorer and tried terminal emu. Managed to run the script, however still no effect on nova.

So I assume you mean that no matter what gallery app you use to select your image one will have the scroll option...
Is this the parallax effect that you cant turn on when you apply a wallpaper?
Since were to moving. wallapapers and touchwiz, wth happened to scroll effect on homescreen? Really miss that one.

The wording on your original post gives the implication that this script will make it possible to use the Infinity wallpapers with any launcher. If this only works with Touchwiz, then what exactly is the purpose of it, since the Infinity wallpapers will already be working?

No. Usally to have the motion effect option (not scroll option) you have to set the TW launcher as default launcher. Now you have this option without a default launcher. I also switch between Nova and TW, so i can switch the wallpaper for TW with that option.

Yes, is Parallax. I knew it as Wallpaper Motion effect. I also miss the scroll effect but could not find it til now.

The feature you say is not possible with theme's installed? That might be due to the wallpaper set from the theme itself, cause i do use themes and it works. I use APOD wallpapers usually in high quality and set them manually through the built-in wallpaper changer, motion effect was always possible. Most of the themes come with wallpapers, and that probably might be the culprit.
And yea, i really miss the Wallpaper Scroll effect...it just doesnt make sense how they get rid of features without any sort of negative feedback.
Just came here to correct myself, and thank @and2 for this little gift.
I randomly tried a theme out there, just to find out that Motion Effect completely disappeared from any theme after. I'm really fond to that effect. Thanks again man.
