Hi,
I have dug out an old XDA11i for wifi use at home. The problem is that I can connect to my SpeedTouch wireless router when I turn off all encryption, however as soon as I turn it back on (WPA-PSK) I am unable to connect.
I have done some research on here and other forums and it seems like it was quite a common issue. I have tried all suggestions:
Hard reset, turn off all encryption, connect XDA then add encryption one step at a time then configure the wifi profile on the XDA etc..but I still cant connect.
I dont want to leave my Wifi network unprotected. I have a xbox 360, xbox, laptop, pc and HTC wizard all running on Wifi without any problems.
Can anyone please help me get the XDAii working.
Thanks
I guess no one can help?
managed to get it working myself after some trila and error...
1.Turn off all encryption
2. restart router
3.clear ppc wifi profiles
4. connect without encryption
5.add wep 128-bit encryption (not the best but better than uncrypted)
6. add wep key to ppc.
All connected fine..
my solution is try to MAC address filter the device that you connect to Wireless router.
so that you don't need any protection at all.
I'm using that way so I just need to register my PDA MAC address to the Wireless router and it can connect so well now
I had the same problem with my Fritz!Box 7170. I solved it with disabeling the function "receive IP adress automatic" and gave a fix IP adress. Now it works fine.
a frustrating problem I might say. I've connected to an "unsecured" Wifi connection, but when I open the web browser it shows me a blank page. I can't even update my weather program.
I did explore the Wifi settings previously. Did I messed-up with the Wifi settings?
*I've done a search here and nothing match the problem that I've encountered. Please re-direct me with a link if you found one
This may seem obvious, but does this "unsecured" network actually have internet access? Just because it's wifi doesn't mean it's connected to the net.
me and few buddies hanging at starbucks.. all of them having no problem on the wifi connection. is there any way to retrive back default settings without perform a hard reset?
really frustrating... anyone?
You can try to go to settings -> wireless lan -> power mode and put the cursor on "best performance"
Hello fellow diamond users!
First off I'm not new to XDA's and WM6, I've had two XDAs before and have always browsed these forums for advise, although I've not been an active poster.
But now I'm stumped. I just cannot get my O2 Ignito to connect to any secured wireless network (unsecured is fine!)
I've even just done a hard reset just to be sure.
The phone can see the network, I'm trying to connect to a mixed mode (11b & 11g) wireless WPA/PSK (WPA+WPA2) but the phone simply refuses to connect! I've even double checked the settings on my old Wizard to be sure (which still connects fine!) and reset the key and checked this with an iPhone which connects fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I m not sure it can help u in this case, but give it try...
Go to Wireless LAN >> Power mode,
and change from Best Battery to Best Performance and try,
I had this problem once and I found that some routers don't know to support Power save mode
Tried that already still no joy.
This is really doing my head in now!
I think its router specific, as I've just connected to the wireless connection of the company downstairs...with there permission of course!
is DHCP or mac address filtering enabled?
Hi there!
I've the same problem. I've an "old" TYTN II working fine and a Diamond which doesn't support wpa-psk secured network. No MAC filtering, no DHCP, no nothing! Just doesn't connect. Sometimes it gets connected (after restart or when coming from sleep mode) but then i turn off wi-fi, turn on again, it founds the net but simply doesn't connect.
Does anybody has an idea?
THXS!
I have flashed my Qtek 9090 to WM6.5.5_23529_eng.
It detects the wireless networks but when I try to configure the networK, ny home wireless is configured to WPA2-PSK encryption AES on my Qtek only appears WPA-PSK on data encryption only appears TKIP.
that is not rom dependant. the most secure encryption the BA supports is wpa-psk, no aes, no wpa2. if you want to integrate the ba in your network you'll need to set you access point's settings down. also make sure, that you have wi-fi b/g simulcast, wi-fi g only also won't work.
Wireless problems 2
Hello, I've also flashed my blue angel with WM6.5.5_23529_eng and wireless do not work neither, while is was working with W2003 before flashing (so no hardware problem). Please note that same settings work with other 2 angels: w2003 & w6.1 and router is at home. Settings are:
infrastructure
wpa-psk
tkip
key is 26 chars alpha
These settings also work with a laptop and a netbook.
Do you have an idea to solve this?
Thanks for all your help
what exactly is the problem?
is the wi-fi not turning on?
does it not find the network?
or does it not connect?
or does it connect, but you cannot access the network/internet?
Wireless problems - details
Hello Chef Tony,
here are details:
go to Windows-Settings-WiFiMGR-Advanced and Status is "Wireless LAN OFF".
go to Windows-Settings-Connections-Wireless Managers shows Wireless ON.
go to Windows-Settings-Connections-WiFi: "Turn on Wi-Fi" is selected go to Advanced
see my SSID name, tap on it, verify name (next), authentication is "WPA-PSK", data encrytion is TKIP, password is ok (next) everything is grey, (finish)
WiFi say my SSID is unavailable, tap on Connect, never connects.
Go to IE, cannot connect to any site which is normal.

Explain (step by step) how you are turning wifi on (I have a feeling I know what the issue is)
ok, let me Explain (step by step) how do i turn wifi on:
go to Windows-Settings-Connections-Wireless Manager - it presents with Comm Manager and Wireless symbol is OFF, so I tap on it, it becomes ON.
now go to WiFi settings, "Turn on Wi-Fi" case is selected, tap on "Wireless Networks" and see my already defined network name which says "Unavailable".
Tap on this network, verify name is ok, on next screen authentication & encryption are ok, as well as password and then tap on Finish.
If I tap on Connect, my network seems to try connecting but it does not an the end.
Does it seem clear to you? I do not know what am i doing wrong, sorry.
thanx for your help

I knew that you were doing that After a soft or even a hard reset, you do not turn on wifi via CommMgr. When you are in CommMgr, you go into Wireless Settings directly and turn it on through there "Turn Wireless On" option, and you get out. This will enable the driver, you only have to do this once and then you can use CommMgr as usual. Try it out and good luck!
Problem is over

Glad it worked
I was searching xda/ internet for answers, but didn't find any.. so here is my problem:
When i connect to secure wifi in windows mobile, I have to enter my username and password to connect to university (corporate ) network. Most of the times the connection works- no problem here. However, when I don't use the x1 for some time (wifi turns off) and then try to use internet again, the wifi does not always connect. The problem is that when the connection fails, WM 6.1 for some reason decides to delete my saved password and it asks me for it again (despite the fact that I checked the box "save password"). This becomes very annoying, and I end up entering the password 10-15 times per day. It for sure isn't a hardware problem, as when i'm running android, the settings are nicely saved and if wifi does not connect on first try, it will on second (or third..). But it will not require me to enter my password again. Is there any solution to this problem? Why wm6.1 deletes my wifi settings every time the connection fails on first try?
Hi.
My problem:
On my xperia x1 wifi will not turn on. When i go Comm Manager, and press wifi switch, the the progress circle is rotate, but the wifi is turned off. I press the switch and nothing happens, still turned off the wifi...
When i go settings, connections, Wireless Lan, the phone is write: "Wireless LAN is OFF. Turn on Wireless LAN" ....i press "turon on wireless lan", but also nothing happens, just select the Subtitle.
