[Q] Can't get flash player to work - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I tried installing flash player on my RAZR I several times (first on ICS, now on Jelly Bean), but it does not want to work:
I just see a blue cube in the stock browser where a flash object should be.
I followed this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952878
I even tried to set permissions of directories/files to 777.
What I noticed is that when I try to install "install_flash_player_ics.apk" from another tutorial, the installation of the package fails with the error "Installation failed, Package is broken" (freely translated into English).
I also saw an empty folder: /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib
It looks like the library should probably go in there?
What am I doing wrong?
I hope you can help me.
With kind regards,
Battlestr1k3

Use this zip installer. It works for me on JB.

Thank you for the upload, I deleted the flashplayer-file in /data/dalvik-cache, rebooted, copied the files from the zip and rebooted again.
It just shows a gray screen in the browser when opening the flashplayer settings-app like before.
Why does it not work?

I have never set the flashplayer. I have used only setting in web browser to use flash player and then tried it on web pages. I'm sure that it works on Maxthon web browser and Dolphin browser.

you lack the libs get to work

Ok, what is the problem with the lib?
I placed it in /system/lib/plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer/
With kind regards,

you must give the necessary permissions to work with the apk and check this http://www.grupoandroid.com/topic/65538-flash-player-andando-en-razr-i/

Thanks, it worked by setting the permissions, again.

Yes. Uninstall and try again.
I am also getting an install error.
I have tried to uninstall the existing 1.1.1 version using the Expsetup but still won't install.
I'm thinking that clearing all associated data for facebook would help but don't know the directories etc that I would need to delete.

That did it, thanks!

Where to get Facebook 1.1.2?
I unistalled V1.1.1 but still cant install new version 1.1.2!!! went to aplication manager and found a file that says com.facebook.katana but doesnt let me do anything with it.
Any ideas?
If you're having problems uninstalling, that's because you used an update.zip and it is installed in the system/app folder. You have to use terminal or adb to mount the folder as rw to remove it.
My question, though, is it better than the one from droid? Cuz if not then I don't want to waste my time updating...

Most importantly would be to ask how do you get your system back to normal so you can install updates later.
I know at one time I messed with my prop file to install the Nav at one time. I wonder if that could be a problem. I removed the Facebook app, but it told me it wasn't compatable so I wonder if it that prop file is affecting anything.
Put the original build.trout.prop file back in the /system folder. Deleted the old Sholes/droid version via the market and it installed without a hitch.
It doesn't seem to like a modified prop file.
To me personally it looks just like the droids version except the white bar at the top is fixed.
Heres the line you want to change back.
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/trout:1.6/DRC83/14721:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
or upload this buid.trout.prop file to your /system folder. Just drop the .txt from the end.
EDIT.
After fighting a bit with the prop file I ended up just reflashing the rom that I originally installed which over wrote the modded prop file. Now I'm back to the orginal file and then I used the APK provided here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5147596&postcount=16
After that I uninstalled it via the market and reinstalled it now I'm back to where I should be.
So you could use that stock prop file, but after 5 or so tries it was sorta mixed results.
Anyone got the apk? I tried the site posted above but nothing happened.

what commands in terminal to mount the folder as rw to remove it?
i used a script to switch my build.trout, but i used the script to switch back to the old one and i can't get FB to install. i never did anything to mod these for the nav and FB a few weeks ago.

For Froyo: Google Car Home - Updated Confirmed Working

http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/10/car-home-for-android-gets-personal.html
Looks pretty nice - you can have it turn on when you pair with certain BT devices (like your car) and you get a nice interface for use in a car.
It is supposed to be in the market now:
EDIT - not in the market yet - maybe because of our build info.
EDIT AGAIN - the fine print now says only Nexus1 and Moto Droid - so here it is for the rest of us:
Confirmed Working now - thanks to majkeli and TheMaginator below:
1: Install com.google.android.carhome-1.apk
2: Install this CarHome Launcher (first rename it to end with .apk instead of .zip)
All i get is install blocked. Im rooted even. Cant seem to find any 3rd party install settings on froyo?
Mine installed fine, but it's nowhere to be seen in the app launcher. I also noticed that on the installation complete screen, where you usually have the "Done" and "Open" buttons, the "Open" button was disabled and greyed out.
When I attempted a second install, it noted that the app was already there, and installed again, with the same results. Interesting.

Yeah, i posted it before i tried it. I installed via ADB, but same results. Says it istalled successfully and copies it over, but no visible app.

CarHomeLauncher
So basically the apk the OP graciously attached does not have the launcher just the app so the launcher is what is needed.
I tried this and it worked:
1: Install the CarHome.apk the OP provided
2: Install this CarHome Launcher (first rename it to end with .apk instead of .zip)
Thanks for the link majkeli
Works like a charm.

Thanks for finding the answer - i rolled back to 2.1, but looking forward to finally using this.
Im not doing something right. Changed the launcher to .apk but it keeps the zip look. Is it supposed to change or something because I can't install. Tried using Sideload wonder and it doesn't recognize me changing the launcher and I tried using Root Explorer and if I click on the launcher it goes inside the app?

I had issues with cwm failing to up date as well. So after some google fu I managed to get a working install.
1. Download the file found in this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864033
2. Power down and reboot into cwm.
3. Select mounts and storage and then select mount system.
4. Install zip from sd and select the zip from step one.
5. Reboot and enjoy.
6. In settings>language&keyboard there should now be an option for android keyboard. Open the browser and long press the url bar. You should get a popup allowing you to select the android keyboard.
Does this "IMPORTANT NOTE: this ZIP file is a ClockWork Recovery update file ==> DO NOT USE IT !!! I take it nothing bad happened when you flashed it?

As far as .Odex files I haven't seen any at all in the root folder.
So far I haven't had any fc's or issues what so ever.

I followed the instructions above ands while I can see the android keyboard under settings, clicking on the URL space on my browser only pops up the starndard TnT keyboard. How long do I need to engage the URL space? I would like to test it.
Try the google search bar. Just press and hold you should get a pop up. Select "input method" the android keyboard should be an option.
i'm curious as to why people prefer this keyboard over the stock TnT keyboard. the TnT has bigger keys. the gingerbread has these small little "half" keys. annoying to type on. or do other roms not have that keyboard?

[Q] apk files

Hello
I have got my new RAZR i and I like it very much. But one thing is a little bit frustrating. I've got some apk files which I would like to install, but they don't because of the Intel processor , I think . So my question is, is it possible to transform those files to some, which will be installable on this phone.
Thanks
Do you get any error message? Normaly they should install fine, as long as the apk is compatible with Android 4.0 x86 (which are most existing).
How do you try to install it?
Have you enabled the option to install apk's from foreign sources?
EDIT: Found the problem. You can't download the apk-files to your phone directly from the net. Instead I sent it via USB from my computer to the phone an it works. Thanks anyway!
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, it is the following:
There is a problem parsing the package.
(I only translated it from the original german: "Fehler beim Parsen des Paketes")

Wich apps are you tryng to install? Are they in their last versions?
What apk's? Are this usual Apps or maybe an modified like an themed Keyboard or an inverted Play Store?
If it's an modified apk you usual have to put them into the System/App Folder by using an Root Explorer and set the permissions right.

no worries bro... since i don't know your experience with Android and making these kinds of tweaks, make a nandroid/backup using TWRP or Philz recovery. you want to be able to recover in case there's an issue. the liboemcrypto.so file is located in the path/folder i listed: /system/lib/. and yes, you can use ES File Explorer as long as it has Root access to the /system folder. (i use a paid app called Root Explorer. in my opinion, it's easier to work with and has the same functionality as ES File Explorer, minus the pretty UI.) With ES File Explorer you'll be prompted by SuperSU to grant Root privileges (access) when trying to rename a file in the /system folder. once you have access, find the file /system/lib/liboemcrypto.so and rename to /system/lib/liboemcrypto.so.bak. you would reboot your device and then see if this fixed the issue.
Greatly appreciated.
I've got this problem on my Sprint phone and the rename of that file fixes netflix, not sure about Hulu. I'm having problems with Google movies not working...

I had the same problem with my rooted SM-N920I. rooted with spacex V0.1. Netfix and Google Movie was not streaming. Renaming liboemcrypto.so to liboemcrypto.so.bak ( located in /system/lib) fixed Netflix. Google movie is still broken
Bump
I've tried to both delete and rename this file using two different file managers and I get an error both times.
You need an older version of Netflix. I'm using 3.7.1 build 1711. I haven't used hulu do not site on that one.

If you cannot delete liboemcrypt
You cannot delete file because files stem is mounted in read only mode.
You need go to a terminal emulator. Then:
su -
mount -o remount,rw /system
rm path_to_file
mount -o remount,ro /system
