I have been trying to root my HTC ONE with the most recent version of drivers and the latest hack of Soff that has been sponsered on numerous websites across the internet. However I try to use the Soff to unlock the bootloader and the only thing that I get is an error telling me that there is no adb connection to device and it questions if debugging is on.
I have also been searching numerous forums to see if others have had similar issues and I found a guide that said that any HTC One with the HBOOT above 1.54 is impossible to get soff to work with it. Which is why I am here because the forums are starting to give me a major headache and the fact that I have had it with the HTC one being drained every day because of all the useless apps that verizon wireless sticks on their phones when you get them.
My problem is with whether or not I can even root and unlock the bootloader for my particular phone and apparently I just got the KitKat version of Android for the HTC One so if anyone has had success rooting with the latest version let me know.
Much appreciation for any help that I can get
I think there's another forum section for the Verizon HTC One. People there can probably help you. Good luck!

Hey guys,
It's been a while since I've been on XDA. Last week I decided to get me an HTC One and so one hour later curiosity has led me to rooting this thing. Only problem is... nothing works. Initially I tried using the "simple" oem unlock. Which should have worked but my terminal gave me a series of error messages informing me that it couldn't access the splash image. So I tried HTC Dev and that doesn't work either. I've spent hours combing every thread on the internet regarding this, and although I've been educated on my initial errors, I've been led in circles.
I am Locked, S-On, 1.54 Hboot, and 4.4.2 Kit Kat. Can I ever root this thing? I'm so surprised that out of all the iterations of the One, the GPE is the one that is impossible to root. Or maybe I'm not paying close enough attention? I've looked at all the S-Off techniques and they don't seem compatible with the GPE? I have no clue. Any help would be great!
the 'simple' unlock method should have worked. I suggest you start again fresh as some things you did might have corrupted some files and reset your device to factory, then reboot to bootloader either via adb or power + vol down, then issue fastboot oem unlock.
you might get some error messages but that should really unlock it. good luck

[Q] Verizon M7 with Android 4.4.2 and HTC Sense 6, WeakSauce "Root Failure"... Help?
So I'm trying to root my phone, been at it for days... Verizon disables using HTCDev in the process to root, so that option is out, other options seem out as well, the most promising option seems to be WeakSauce, as it looks like a lot of people have had success with my model, carrier, and Android version.
HOWEVER, I just upgraded to HTC Sense 6 a few days ago, and it looks like it's causing "root failure" in WeakSauce despite following the troubleshooting "guide" and forum posts from the official WeakSauce thread.
Has anyone else with a Verizon HTC One M7 on Android 4.4.2 and HTC Sense 6 had similar problems and if so, has anyone else been able to figure out a solution? Thanks!

I've run into the exact same conundrum. There are plenty of others that also have this issue as well. On this site though, just about the only help you will get from most people is them telling you to post this somewhere else (SUPER helpful rite???) But as the one above me stated, unfortunately you, me, and everyone else who pressed "install update now" on a Verizon m7, are all stuck now without root until either an update is made to weaksauce or some other flavor of sauce is developed. I'm sorry

I am tech savvy, but I am an Android newbie. So yes, I mess things up. Sort of a natural part of life I guess. I have read as much information as I can and decifered as much of that as I can.
I am in no way asking a question out of pure laziness, I simply cannot find a solution to my problem.
Phone Specs
HTC One (M7)
CDMA-Sprint as the carrier
OS-
HBOOT-1.56.0000
Radio-1.00.20.1100
The Story
Okay so I had Sprint a while back, hated it and recently decided to switch my HTC One to Expo Mobile. Problem is I had Viper OS and it would not update so all I had was Talk/Text. So I figured I'd get stock android back on the device. this is when things started going awry. The phone <was> unlocked. S-On. I found some guides to install the factory RUU on the device and was told to lock it. Well now I have no OS and a locked device. No RUU I try is working and I have tried several Sprint RUUs. I am getting Error 155, so I imagine my version of HBOOT is incompatible? Anyway I haven't been able to find a way to root it without an OS installed.
Currently showing Tampered, Relocked and Security Warning. I can mess with it in Fastboot but ADB won't see the device at all. Again, I am a phone newbie so any help would be much appreciated. Am I totally boned or do I have options.?
Anyway, I wouldn't bother you guys if it was something I could possible understand enough to fix it. Seems like messing with it in the first place was a bad idea, although a learning experience.

Maybe I Spoke Too Soon
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658910 seemed to resolve everything
Now I am stuck at the activation screen for Sprint
I have a true Google play edition, and to unlock the bootloader, we were only needing to run a couple things and given fully unlocked bootloader. I had received the phone new, but it was already past 4.2.2 so when i ran the script it did not work anymore. I gave up on it for awhile and ran stock, but im itching to get it S-OFF and unlocked and im wondering if this was ever resolved on HTC's side considering the bug that doesnt allow the popup? Thanks a bunch, i searched but there was nothing pertaining to a solution to the problem for a real gpe, which wasnt s-offed before i got it. :good:

As far as I can tell -- No. Here is a thread on the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547894
Hi everyone. I am trying to root my Htc one mini 2. (Its the verizon htc one remix). People have told me its the same phone. Anyway when i try to unlock bootloader and copy my token id using htc dev, I get this error. No one seems to know anything. Please help.
Error Code: 172.
Error Reason: CID Not Allowed (MID not exist in Model Rule).\
So far all i know is cid means carrier ID. Is this because its verizons version of the phone? thanks
I guess that your version isn't unlockable
Correct no methods worked to unlock the bootloader...
had to resell mine to get the European one mini 2....
I've been having the same problem.. It's because it's the verizon version of the phone. Verizon likes being a **** so they prevent HTC from giving out bootloader unlock codes for their phones. This basically means you can't unlock the phone through any official methods from HTC. The best bet is to wait for sunshine 3.0 to be released and see if that works because right now it's the only way to unlock verizon htc phones. However I'm not sure if sunshine is going to work for the remix. So right now there's no solution and there might not be one in the near future either. It's hit or miss. If rooting is that important to you, you might want to trade in for a new phone. Or just try and wait it out and see if something comes up.
