Hi guys,
I just installed the latest Album firmware this morning, and after that, my jacks don't work anymore. I checked if my earphone is defective, but I have tried it on different devices, but it works just fine. I also don't want to bias you with the album firmware update. But it seems that it might be the culprit. When I try to play music with the headphones/earphones plugged in, it plays thru the speakers instead. Tried restarting and all. Still nothing.
On that pretense, is anybody here experiencing the same thing? Any other way to fix this?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Not me. I updated the Album App today as well but my audio luckily still plays through the audio jack.
Did you perhaps hold the device underwater in a specific way or in a specific fluid that might've caused your audio jack to malfunction?
If not, I have no idea what it is and you may have more luck asking at the store where you bought your device from.
Hi, I used another audio jack and used it as an aux out to a speaker, and it worked. Maybe there is something wrong with the ear phones themselves.. Thanks

When I play music with headphones on it comes through the headphones + the speaker on the phone..
I assume something is wrong, Ive tried two different sets of headphones and same results, made sure its pushed in all the way etc....
is my phone faulty? or I am doing something dumb?
cheers
the same happens with bluetooth, but it is only for MEDIA sounds
the actual phone call will get only routed to the bluetooth headset/car
i think it's a bug in the software, that it forgets to turn off the phone speaker when something else is connected
Are you running froyo beta?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
No, why? is it fixed in froyo?
It is a pretty nasty bug... can't listen to music quietly anywhere..
Huh? It's fine here..
Which firmware are you using.. Maybe something is corrupt..
I'm using xfjm5, anyone else see this issue or should i say hear this issue?
@allgamer, do you get this with headphones too? or just with bluetooth?
Btw, are you using VOIP.. Because voip might cause issues (as well as some other programs, or sound quality hacks).
Is that JG5 version a pre-release or official release?
I'm using JM5 atm and I don't have that issue with the headphones or the bluetooth stereo headset. I only seem to have that problem when I'm using the bluetooth headset and the Copilot nav. The instructions from the nav come through both headset and speaker
From my Galaxy S loonie-phone
I have the same problem. But it used to work fine. My phone has frozen while I tried to connect my bluetooth car kit (parrot mki 9200) and I had to perform a factory reset. Since this time, Media sounds plays through the speaker and the bluetooth headset at the same time.
My firmware version is : I9000XXJG1
I hope it will be fixed in the final froyo firmware.

I think its a bug in firmware, I had it happen a few times when I receive call while listening to music, After call the music plays on speaker even with headphones on. I just unplug head phones and plug it back in and it goes away. Havn't had it happen since I moved to JM8 from I think JM1
Hello,
I'm believe i'm currently running Cyanogen Mod 7.1 on the LG 2X.
I've had no problems with the mod, everything was running smoothly then one day, out of the blue, the music was no longer working properly out of the headphones.
The best way I can describe is it as tho you are listening to music under water. The music of the songs play, but when the artist sings, their voice is sort of tinny, and doesn't play properly.
Another strange thing is that when I listen to the radio via an app, it works fine. A little quiet, but it is still clear.
I've had a fiddle with the settings on the music player, but nothing seems to change. I've tried a variety of music players and the problem still occurs.
I've been to 2 technicians and neither of them know what the problem is. They don't believe it is something to do with the hardware, more an internal issue.
I just really want to get this issue sorted, because it's very frustrating when I want to listen to music when travelling etc.
Please help, I'd really appreciate it.
P.S My phone will no longer connect to the computer. When I plug it in via USB, it doesn't pop up on the computer, and only shows a charging icon on the phone. If someone could help fix this i'd also be greatful.
Thanks guys.
For the audio problem, check the DSP manager app.
For the USB problem, check if you have USB debug on. (I think you have to look at Settings->applications->development.)
Have you tried different headphones?
I have a similar problem when using my Sony Ericsson headphones on the LG. It seems the 3.5 mm jack is somehow different. So when I use the SE set, I hear the voice distantly, echoed and so on. And its definitely not from the software.

I also have this problem with my sony ericsson headphones, I have to press real hard on the jack so I can hear properly, so I just use the headphones that came with the LG instead...
I have a problem with my unrooted Xperia Z with a locked bootloader. My main speaker does not work for any media like music games or videos, but works fine for loudspeaker calls. Also the earpiece speaker doesnt work at all. Another problem i found was that my microphone would not work at all unless it was in a call and i was using loudspeaker. The final problem is that when ever i plug in my earphones, google now pops up and sometimes my phone starts playing music automatically throught the earphones, when i remove the earphones, instea of stopping the music continues but the speakers dont work so it just keeps playing them silently. If anyone knows the soultion to this, please respond as ive searched everywhere and i have not found one solution yet.
UPDATE: i used the application soundabout to reroute the audio and the calls are now fine, the only problem is that when i plug in my earphones the google now problem persists. If i plug in earphones with a mic, i dont get any of these problems and everytime i want to use my internal speaker for media, i have to manually re-route the audio to them. Anybody know a solution to these 2 problems?
I do have the exact same problem, I tried different ROMs and Audio Mods (at the moment I've got a stock ROM) without any change.
Did you somehow fix it?
Exact same problem, i run stock android 5.1.1 build 10.7.A.0.222 locked boot loader. Problem suddenly came up last week during vacation, quite some time after I did OTA upgrade to 5.1.1 - so this is not related to ROM updates.
After installing soundabout (thanks for the hint) the rerouting did not work immediately - i had to set phone to earpiece and media to speaker in the app and reboot for it have an effect.
I think the root cause is, the phone thinks there are headphones connected, when there really aren't. If I use the UKW radio app, it starts and shows headphones as output-icon right away - it should actually complain that there is no reception without phones because the antenna (headphone cable) is missing. Since it doesn't complain I guess that's the culprit.
Any hints how to fix that, without using a rerouting app? (kinda stupid, using bluetooth speakers and so on now needs a manual setting change in soundabout).
I have that phone for more than 2 years now and used headphones maybe twice with it, so a busted headphone-jack is out of the question too.
Guys give it a try.
Thanks Ess Arr, that really works!
Hi, it's my 1st post on xda forums and my english is very bad (I'm French) so pls forgive me for that.
My problem is a bit strange, my nexus doesn't accept all the headphones jack... I mean, before, I was listening music with my headphone (Philips Fidelio M1) when I'm outside, and at home I use my speakers 2.1 (Focal xs) with a standard jack on both. But, since a few days, the jack from the Focal XS is not working with my nexus 6 (the music comes out from the Nexus's speakers), but works fine with other devices and the jack from my headphones is still working perfectly...
I have to precise that I'm using Viper4android but It was working fine with it before.
Thank you for your answers, have a good day.

Sometimes you don't have it set well enough and you have to give it another push to make sure it connects. Also you can try a reboot. I have had the same issues, but with bluetooth. Sometimes, even with bluetooth connected, the song will play through the speakers. I think it's just a lollipop bug. Usually a reboot fixes it for me.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that, I tried a reboot and the problem is still present. I have to be more precise : I tried several times and the jack from the speakers 2.1 never works and the jack from my headphones always works. It's so strange... I tried with my sister's headphones and is still working but on another external speakers the problem is back. I tried also to connect it in a friend's car and it worked perfectly fine. It seems like not all the 3.5 jacks works... But before I didn't have this problem.

Are you always using the same cable for external speakers? Maybe it is the cable?
Like I said... The cable is working perfectly fine with any other devices (my PC, and others phone for example).
I had the same issue with when I had viper installed. Uninstalled it and all is fine now
Ok... Ty for your answer, It must be the same bug for me... But I really love v4a, I hope they will fix that soon.
Had the same problem with viper. Is your problem still persistent after uninstalling v4a?
I didn't uninstall it for the moment, I can't say...

Yep same issue with viper/ uninstalled re flashed ROM everything normal.
Just to add to this... I'm on COG2 and still having the headphone jack issue....im using Viper as well. The only reason I use headphones is because Viper makes it sound so good! Haha. Strange issue...
Hello, Im new to this site but I've always found helpful answers here so I thought I'd ask a question. I have had LG phones for about 4 years now. The G4, and all the v series up to the v40. I have always had an issue with Bluetooth audio and I've yet to find a solution. It seems to be only when connecting to a car radio. At first it will play fine and then it just stops. The progress bar continues in the music app and the radio says it's playing but there's no sound. The only way I've found to make it work again is to restart my phone, which I have to do at least every other song if not more. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution? BTW it's not just one particular radio it's every car Ive tried it in. But Bluetooth speakers or headphones work just fine. So frustrating!
Semi-educated guess; software issue within car systems?

Any chance you are using a fitbit or other device that uses BLE? I had that issue, disabled the fitbit app and my music started working. Big difference tho, I could restart the google music app and it would start again...didn't require a phone reboot like you mentioned.
