I have a question about official firmwares. Let's say I flash an official firmware that was not intended for my device. I can see that every country has their own. Will I still get updates when they are released or should I have the firmware that the phone came with?
Thank you in advance

Hello,
You should be worry whether the devices have different hardwares, because using such firmware can brick your device.
If the devices have the same hardware then you can use that firmware and after this I think you will have to update manually.

I will flash official firmware for the specific device. I8190. I will not flash firmware intended for other model. Just other country.
I would like to know if I would still get OTA updates.
Thank you for replying

Hi guys,
I have a Moto X xt1052 Asia retail version and I want to return back to stock firmware after fooling around with it.
However, I can only find xt1052 stock firmwares for other regions such as Europe retail, Germany retail and France retail.
I'm wondering, can I flash other region firmwares such as the Europe retail firmware on my Asia retail xt1052? And if so, will there be any repercussions?
Thanks. [emoji3]
I also have the same problem. Would be great if someone told if I can directly flash that 4.4.4 retail UK factory image on my Asia retail xt1052.
I asked for this firmware. I was told that the Asian version of the firmware is not available yet.

Yes and thanks for that, but I would like to go to stock. So I'm wondering if it is alright to flash stock firmwares for other regions?
It might be possible if the radios use the same frequencies. But keep in mind you will most likely lose languages because the other XT1052 firmwares might not have any of the asian languages. But I don't recommend installing firmwares that are not for XT1052 because they are more likely to have problems or cause a brick. Also don't ever downgrade versions. Downgrading causes bricks.

Thanks!
One last thing. So if I flash 4.4.4 European retail xt1052 firmware on my 4.4.4 Asia retail xt1052, will I still get OTAs as usual?

Unfortunately, I only have a nandroid with a custom kernel installed, so it replaced the system modules.

Alright, thanks a bunch!
It works!
Just for future owners of XT1052 to know:
If you want to return to stock, other retail firmwares work.
At least for me

I am glad to hear that we can flash the Europe version on the XT1052 Asia. Could you please provide a link to download the Europe 4.4.4 for XT1052.

Just wanted to ask this.. Did you flash all the files in the factory image like gpt.bin and motoboot.img? Or only system, boot, and recovery?
flash all. just in case if you've replaced even a tiny .apk from system with a modded one, your ota flash would be unsuccessful. I had the same problem while taking the 4.4.4 ota. So I flashed the whole 4.4.2 system and then took the ota. Worked like a charm. Anyway, I'm flashing the whole file which has been linked in the post above mine

Not an internet problem. That site is just slow. It will take me just as long to download it.... So might as well download it yourself.

Go to the Sprint HTC One Development Forum and find a ROM you want to flash. Each ROM's developer should provide instructions on how to flash their ROM. Also, only flash ROM's that are made for your Sprint phone or you are asking for trouble.
I tried flashing revolution on my sprint m7. And it softbricked now its running good. My question is, can i fkash a european rom or should i stick with the sprint roms

Hello again ! It's your friendly neighborhood Samsung firmware nerd... So you bricked your phone while trying to downgrade? Or perhaps you hate root access and you just wanna have the latest ATT crapware? Then this is for you!
***WARNING*** THIS WILL UPDATE YOUR BOOT LOADER AND YOU WONT BE ABLE TO ROLL BACK. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
LINK
As usual you must use Odin 3.10.6 to flash the file.
You're welcome to mirror just don't forget to say thanks :good: Enjoy!

IT was postponed because ATT is not satisfied enough to approve it.
Get root

Thanks for the great link. Just to update and soft and it shows faster
Thank you very much

Do you have a source that ATT was not "satisfied enough to approve it"? I was under the impression that they were just taking their sweet time with it, not that they were already in the approval/dissaproval stage.
My guess is they also want to patch the stagefright exploit since they need to push a big update anyways what's the point of releasing 5.1.1 then releasing a patch a few days later.
hi i have unlocked at&t version..by updating this, will my phone remain unlocked..thanks

I bought this N9 from eBay, but what I didn't realize is it is based off from Malaysia Region and has a Malaysia Region Lock.
I don't live in Malaysia or its region but what's bothering is till now this device did not receive any pie beta OS update (OneUI). Am not sure if this possible but I want to get this device to US region (idk if that is the right word) so that I will get OS update whenever they release it for the US region. So there any way I can change the region restrictions without rooting and flashing a new ROM?

While downloading the file refering to post#2, what should be the value for the region. I want it to be same as US Region. By the way I should tell you this, my phone is based on xynos processor. Will that is the same stock files for Odin..
if you just want change region for faster update, but you also know how to flash in odin, you can change csc to desired region then flash that region firmware. many thread about that in this forum.
any n960f firmware will work on any n960f, regardless of the region. idk the csc for US, but you can check this thread,
