Easier rooting method - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if it will be available an easier rooting method for the Xperia SP with 4.3 for locked bootloader.
I saw the post in the forum, but I found that method very difficult for me

For unlocked bl? Just use custom kernel with recovery and flash supersu fix. Thats all.

Sorry, I wanted to say Locked Bootloader

hey, there is actually no easier way to root locked bootloader! but it is not soo complicated, just follow the instructions.

Just wait for NUT or Doomlord to release an exploit to directly root 4.3

Yeah, that's what I wanted to hear. I saw the rooting method posted but I just know how to use flashtool,no more. Let's see if it is available y a couple of weeks or so

Once you have all the downloads in place it only takes twenty minutes to root the latest fw. Not a big deal imo. Remember that the last 4.1 build didn't have an exploit, it's possible that there won't be a way to easily root for the new build...

Indeed, the LAST 4.1.2. As you may know, this is the first firmware version of 4.3. Doomlord's exploits did work on the first version of the firmware (4.1.2) directly too (.211 etc).

Sir may i ask
Im not sure if im in the right thread bout this.
Ive tried rooting my Xperia SP using DoomLord procedure i was able to do everything correctly
But when i was in the part for using rooting toolkit there was a message that it cant pust SuperUser.apk and the phone restart after that i wasnt able to find the Super user app
Got USB DEBUGGING ON
Able to flashed the old version before rooting but it was still the same
can you guide me with this or if not Please kindly point me where to ask this question Thanks
Any idea what did go wrong what i did wrong

Check the step correctly
You have to keep USB debugging and Unknown Sources (setting > security > unknown sources tick box) ON before running the root toolkit.
Then give a try

Agree - at least not on my XSP on stock 4.3
My wife, on the other hand, has a sony ericsson ray, updated to 4.0.4 firmware. Rooting it was a breeze (with Eroot) - less than 1 min.
She is as happy as a lark when I got rid of the Japanese and Chinese keyboards for her
...and a few other stock wares that cluttered her phone.
Interestingly - superuser (the default) works better in the SE Ray than supersu (lags)

Q
Yup ive tried does step correctly no doubt but i toolkit says that superuser wont pushed phone restarts but the superuser app wasnt there

Happened many times with me,
First I flashed .257 kernel on .254 then run the doomlord easy rooting tool kit v18, then it was rooted, then flash the .254 kernel again, these are the steps to be followed.

You can always flash an official Sony kernel with a locked bootloader.

Root for 4.3

when you think that it could be possible to root our Xperia T with 4.3 update?:fingers-crossed:
Downgrade to 4.1, root, upgrade with root to 4.3, this is the best way currently.
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a direct root method for 4.3 since we can do what I said above

That's the method if bootloader is unlocked, there's a few of us not willing to unlock it yet.
Use flashtool to roll back to 4.1.2, doomlord's rooting technique for rooting that firmware, jump to the development forum to grab the touch recovery by peetr, and then use darklord's deodexed stuff to get rooted 295 - did it today and the steps are relatively well mapped out for you - I can vouch that it works for locked bootloaders on stock firmware :good:

you can downgrade with an ftf, I'm a non-unlockable bootloader so know the stuff.

Yes, you can downgrade, but you can't upgrade using Sony Update or Companion, you can flash rooted rom via recovery. If you upgrade with Sony tool you'll loose root.

Yeah, so obviously when I say downgrade and root, I then mean you can have the intention of flashing one of the stock rooted 4.3 ROMs

What, rooting fresh installed 4.3, not flashing 4.3 custom rom?
I have locked bootloader, I only went back to 4.1.2 with flashtools, then installed root and CWM, after that flashed Dark Lord's 4.3 stock (the Bond one) and the SuperSU zip in recovery.
Everything running correctly.
Somebody will try to root it once the Z2 is launched: you can't downgrade that, but if a working root exploit is found it will probably also work on previous xperias.

[Q] Trying to root, several attempts failed (Xperia V - Doomlord's and Bin4ry's kits)

Hello,
I've been trying to root my Sony Xperia V (LT25i) for some time now. I'm after nothing fancy - just root access. I don't even need an unlocked bootloader. Therefore, I'm only open to methods that don't wipe data.
So far, I've tried using Doomlord's easy root kit (v17) and Bin4ry's universal root (v30 and v33).
I have tried using different PC's (Two running Win7 64x and one running Win7 86x), using different USB cables and ports. ADB drivers have been installed on my PC's, using Sony PC Companion and/or the universal ADB driver. I never installed Flash Tool.
USB debugging and "accept apps from unknown sources" have been switched on. My phone was unlocked (on wakelock) during every attempt.
I have tried rooting build 9.2.A.0.295 (latest - Android 4.3) and the official build Sony released before that. (Not sure about that build's number.)
No matter what I do, all the root kits I've tried get stuck on "Daemon running successfully".
Can anyone please tell me what I've missed?
Still no way to root 4.3 update using those tools, it isn't supported currently.

Ok, thanks. I suppose it doesn't matter bringing up my attempts at the previous update - I have 4.3 now. I'll wait

If you wanna root then you have to unlock bl.
Mine is rooted with unlocked bootloader. 4.3 .295
Search forum
You may wanna check out rooted version of steveboss and DoomLorD in V Development section
I'm using Rooted Odex by steveboss and everything seems smooth
Good luck
Noob question
Tried searching but no definitive answers are found.
For unrooted, locked BL device on 9.2.A.0.295 -
can we
just flash the official stock kernel for 9.1.A.1.145 then root
use rootkeeper and reflash it back to the kernel of 9.2.A.0.295?

Rooting

I have latest official firmware JB 4.3(12.1.A.0.266).
Now i want to root it.
Is there any way.
Thanks
Yes there is. However you need to unlock your bootloader for this.
Tutorial for Bootloader unlocking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354721
Tutorial for Rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646193
However for unlocking bootloader you need to create a backup of the TA partition and this requires root.
So there is an loop in this issue.......
What some users do:
- Downgrade back to 4.1.2 (see my tutorial about Flashing with Flashtool)
- Root it
- Backup TA
- Unlock bootloader/Install CWM
- Install custom 4.3 rom with root

Those who do not want to unlock bootloader are waiting for @DooMLoRD to release an exploit for official firmware JB 4.3(12.1.A.0.266).
I am one of them.

[Solved] Xperia T - 4.3 not able to root

Hello
I've been trying to install Cyanogenmod on my Xperia T.
However, I need recovery (CWM) to do so, which requires root acces.
I've been able to unlock bootloader but rooting isn't a succes.
I tried all the root functions in flashtool, and some others but nothing works.
So, is it safe to downgrade my firmware from 4.3 to 4.1.2 with flashtool, root that version, and then install recovery/cyanogen?
Thanks!

Yes it is safe. You can install any custom rom from any stock firmware (unless it states in the description that you need a certain firmware).
Btw: did you try towelroot? I believe it should work on 4.3
Sent from my LT25i using XDA Free mobile app
Allright, just wanted to be sure!
I've tried towelroot but it kept rebooting, even on 4.1.2.
But I've been able to flash CM on my xperia a couple of minutes ago without problems (apparently it came with its own recovery menu).
Developer tools had a root option and that luckily worked.
Thanks for the help :good:

Xperia Z 6603 Rooting Help

Hi guys, up till last week i had an xperia z for nearly 2 years and rooted it on several occasions, however the phone developed a fault and was returned to Sony.
I was sent a new device today (6603) which came with 4.4.4 10.5.1.A.0.292 but i want to put it back to how i had it on 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.2.67, for some reason i just cannot get the phone to root. I have used the procedure that i always used but this time i cannot get it to root. I would downgrade to 10.3.1.A.0.244 via flash tool, no problem. Then i would flash 10.3.A.0.423 kernel only but in settings the phone would still say the 244 build, then use doomlords v18 to root but i cannot get SuperSU installed....
I have tried many methods from the net to no avail. I went into the service menu and its says i can root
Any help will be much appreciated, any more info u guys need i can let u know.
Thanks

lollipop is good too but we can't root it now.
