I admit I am the noob of noobs, so this complete jobber asks for your help.
Having been on 2.3.5 Gingerbread XFJVA using the method from the website below and this worked perfectly fine
http://androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-i9000-official-gingerbread-235-xfjva-firmware/
I tried to root the phone and upon rebooting was faced with this screen:
{

}
The phone can enter download mode (but not recovery mode), but I'm scared to try anything without reassurance. What do I do? can someone please give me some step by step help, I just want to get back what I had before the root (ie. the 2.3.5 XFJVA)
Thanks!

Try this, with the correct PIT and PDA files:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEjTaFg_2Ks&feature=related
correct,
you have now to reflash the entire stock Samsung ROM with Odin, checking RE-PARTITION and with the correct pit file.
my bad, forgot to quit Samsung Kies.. that was the problem..
Hi there, after few days, I installed the original ICS ROM from a kdz file, and now I want to install CM 10 ROM. But I don't know how to root my phone and how to install cwm. SuperOneClick doesn't work now, maybe the problem is from ICS ROM. I don't know.
Anybody know a solution for that problem ? Thank you.

Dear bro.
Flash this ROM (nvflash), it will give you the ICS with new bootloader and you can flash any CM10 with new bootloader (no call bug). It worked for me!:good:

i have a problem after flashing version 2014-09-12.
i come from version 2014-09-09.
but after flashing i have bootloops...i see only the Samsung logo.
i cant go in the recovery menu...only the download menu works...
i have a twrp backup, but i cant start the recovery menu. :-/

pls help
thx in advance

most probably zip file is corrupted. anyway...you need to flash recovery img with odin and then flash rom.
i'm not sure if raw kernel has recovery in img form.

remove phone’s battery and put it back inside dont work too
i solved the problem:
- i have to plug out the SIM-Card and the ext-SD
- battery out /in
- flash the speedmod kernel with odin (speedmod-kernel-n7000-ics-k3-15-Odin.tar)
- go in recovery mode > flash raw kernel r6
- reboot recovery
- restore backup in TWRP > done
Here, i m uploading two imgs. please refer it

It could be possible that the phone is bricked..but to confirm... Check the steps you have tried.
Before every flash through Odin, make sure you have powered of the phone and rebooted into download mode. Back to back flash won't work.
Original USB cable with main USB ports if using a pc.
Samsung kies not running in the task manager.
Try another kernel file or another complete Samsung rom.
Try another pc.
I had my LineageOS and I wanted to factory reset my phone. It turned off and now it's bootlooping to twrp.
I have to say we got a lack of details..

I wanted to do factory reset while I was using custom ROM (LineageOS) and then my phone restarted to recovery but I'm not using stock one. Now TWRP recovery goes on, then screen blinks and over and over again.

Your device is bricked, you have to use Odin. By the way, there are different TWRP releases, and there are different Lineage releases, too. Be precise to get proper help. And use thx buttons

And how can I use odin to get it to work?
Read the Odin thread to learn how it works. Choose Odin-flashable Recovery and by taste to flash it. It's all good explaination there, Odin methods included, and you need to know how things work, so you have to teach it yourself.
You just need a working Recovery, after that you can flash as before from sd card or flash the rom with Odin. Cheers
