I just picked up a Moto x today. Traded my HTC One for this phone. I am not getting an unread message count on the stock messaging app. How the heck do I turn that on? It's driving me nuts not seeing that notification on the app icon. Please help.

Does stock android not have that function? It has been so long since I have used stock android.
Nevermind the unread feature, figure out how to use active notifications and grow to love it.
TeslaUnread Plugin for the Nova Launcher Pro has unread counter for email, messaging, and other apps. I use it and it works flawlessly.

If you're meaning Samsung's own email app (looks like an envelope with an @ over the front), then it should get a badge by default, IF you setup the software.
I actually don't know of a way to turn that off, outside of just not having it auto sync, so the only time the software deals with emails is when you manually check it, while the software is open. In which case you'd never actually see a badge.
If your talking about the GMAIL app... I don't 'think' it gets a badge by default. I could be wrong... I actually find the stock samsung email app a bit better than gmail, cause you can create/edit folders, and the signature options are far greater. AND the fact they finally added push notifications to it (which was the main reason I used the gmail app in the first place).
Yes its the Samsung mail app I currently have Gmail and yahoo synced to it bit do not get any badges ....

@Ragnarkov is correct. The stock mail app will show badges if you set up an account with it. The Gmail app does not unless you use a 3rd party launcher like Nova.
Lol that's the problem both of my note 3 doesn't show the badges like the message app does

Are you running the stock TW ui? Or an aftermarket UI like Nova or Apex?
The only other thing I could suggest is do a factory reset, and if your still having the issue, take it and get a replacement. If after a reset, on stock TW UI, its not showing the badge, who knows what else software-wise could be screwing up in the device?
I know for a fact it SHOULD be working, and on mine it does. Sounds like some software glitch to me.
Hope you figure it out soon though!
My gmail deliveries show up on the stock email badge. Love how the email app here allows combining the inboxes of both.

My preference as an AT&T user is the original Visual Voicemail application over the AT&T messages app. The latter tries to combine all of your call lists, text messages, voicemails, etc in one. Some people rather retain control over their text messages. You can disable notifications, but I know at one point it would still semi interfere with other messaging applications.
Just in case you had your phone voicemail forwarding to another number, please view this video to reset it:

Idk about the spyware thing, but if its hanging at waiting for verification, you probably don't have vvm provisioned on your account. Make sure your data plan says something about having vvm.
Just use Google Voice. Visual voicemail that can be accessed on any device or PC.

Yeah I don't know about the whole spyware thing.
Anyways sometimes visual voicemail takes a little while to provision. Just a glitch in the matrix. Probably network load related.
Google voice for visual voice mail here, im also on att
Google Voice and Death Star Mobile here as well
You can't go wrong with Google Voice, especially if you live in Google-land. A minute ago I got a voicemail. A notification message with a full, mostly-accurate transcription of the voicemail went to my phone and Gmail. Gmail has native support and allows you to play the VM right from inside the email. Pretty convenient.

Everyone should use Google Voice. No MMS, but it's not 2006, so...
FYI, in order for call forwarding to work properly with GV on AT&T, you need to call AT&T and insist that they disable visual voicemail on your account. After all you don't need it.
After you do this, forwarding will work perfectly. Took me a week to figure this out.

I've found older versions of the att visual voice mail apk around on the forums, but the latest is 2.5.2 on the play store. Anyone have an APK for that to side load onto a nexus 5?

I found a link to the apk in this thread but I'm getting stuck after entering my password. Any ideas why I'm getting stuck here?

I have a feeling that's what they are going to tell me hence why it won't work through the Play Store but have no idea how others here were able to get it to work unless something has changed. I'll post up here what I find out.
Guys,
On my wife's Z1 she used to have a small SMS Widget that used to show up in the top right of her home screen.
Basically when she received a new message this widget popped up. Tapping on it opened up the message sent.
As I say it was a small circular widget and inside was a photo of the person or number who sent the message.
I would really like to know where it came from and why it has now disappeared.
All I know is the only Messaging Apps she has is the default and GoSMSPro Apps installed.

Thanks but it's not Facebook Messenger, I know that for sure.
At first I thought it was a product produced by using GoSMSPro but that brings up it's own themed window, not the round one that always appears in the top right of the screen.
I'll keep on looking and have a feeling without help it's going to take a long time to find it again.
Hello,
I have had a first gen samsung gear since it came out. Just got my G watch R and loved it. I have a galaxy note 4 edge phone, and noticed right away that when i get a text message I cannot open it on the gwatch. I am using the samsung stock messaging app... is hangouts really the only way to view a text? what other apps work, or I would prefer if there was a way to read my samsung messages.
WearResponses works with any messaging app. That would be your easiest option. It would allow you to read and reply to messages from your watch.
I have a HTC One M7 GE. The stock Google Messaging app works fine with Wear.

Thanks for the reply. I tried wear responses but that caused some additional issues.
I am now using google messenger, not the google hangouts and it appears to have what i need. I just need to leave the samsung texting environment.
