Hello,
I was interested in getting Hamachi to work on my newly-acquired G1. After applying Cyanogen's Mod and rooting the thing, installing Debian (yay!) and setting up all the nifty scripts to make it semi-permanent, I focused on getting Hamachi to work.
First I tried the Linux tgz but it failed ("wrong architecture, teabag!" it told me.) ..so I looked around some more, and came across a build for the Nokia N770 (Maemo something-or-other) and decided to give it a try, and holy **** if it didn't work (after some tweaking.)
NOTE: YMMV.
Make sure your phone is r00ted. Can't do it without the r00ty-juice. Also, a Debian distro is required. See here for how: http://www.saurik.com/id/10
**EDIT** I just reflashed my G1, so I had the opportunity to try again and figure out the exact steps! Here they are, as they worked for me:
01) Download the N770 Hamachi tarball: http://files.hamachi.cc/linux/nokia-770/hamachi-0.9.9.9-20-lnx-n770.tar.gz .
02) Untar/ungzip it, it will extract to hamachi-n770-0.9.9.9-20.
03) cd into there, and run sh ./install.
04) mkdir /dev/net to create the node directory in /dev.
05) mknod /dev/net/tun c 10 200 to create the tunnel device.
06) apt-get install sudo if you don't already have it.
07) apt-get install libcrypto++7 if you don't already have it.
08) ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7
09) sudo tuncfg to get the tunnel driver started.
10) hamachi-init to set up the initial configuration and RSA keys.
11) hamachi start to start up Hamachi.
12) hamachi login to login to the Hamachi network.
13) hamachi set-nick nickname if desired.
14) hamachi join network password if desired.
Success!! Got my G1 online and logged into my Hamachi network! I did apply this Linux fix (to make it stay online within my Hamachi2 network -- this is Hamachi 0.9.9):
echo KeepAlive 10 >/root/.hamachi/config
Maybe overkill, as it's gonna send a ping every 10 seconds over the air, which I'm sure will eat up my battery after a while.

nice! been waiting for something like this for quite some time ;D having some problems though... it won't compile... when i run make install, just keeps on giving me a "Nothing to do for target "install"" Tried removing tuncfg folder and hamachi executable too (which doesn't work btw, says libcrypto is missing), still didn't work... any ideas?
Oh, thanks for reminding me! I also did an apt-get install libcrypto++7 when it gave a linker error.
As far as Make goes, it doesn't really compile (it is precompiled) as much as just copy the binaries to the proper places in the path.. Try doing the install of libcrypto++7 and see if it works for you.
--W5i2
alright... so ive tried installing libcypto 0.9.8 and renamed it to 09.9.7.... however it still says i need to run hamachi-init which doesn"t work!
Edit: alright, got it... i had to do sh install
Thanks, seems to work!
tip: the libcrypto.so.0.9.8 wich you have to rename to libcrypto.so.0.9.7 is located in /usr/lib
Can any of you two (Fish & Zero) whom have gotten this to work confirm what you did, and if "Debian" is needed ?

it does work, it only works on debian at the moment, since the binaries are not designed for android. however, the network connection should work with android too, since debian and android share their connections...
all you need to do is follow the instructions, but also run
apt-get install libcrypto0.9.8 and
mv /usr/lib/libcrypto0.9.8.so /usr/lib/libcrypto0.9.7.so (something like that check ls /usr/lib)
Alright so im still breaking my neck to get this to work but i dont get it.
This guy says "4) Untar/ungzip the file, run 'make install' and it should install without errors/warnings, IIRC.. (I did this last night)". What is he talking about ? Do i download the zip file, extract the folder in it to the root of my SD ? because thats what i have done so far. And if yes after then what comes next ? I cant put his puzzle together. -.- So lost, and i really want this.
You need a working debian on your android for this to work.
and even then its helluva lot of doing magic until it so much as tells you that it's started.
My Problem for example is that when i do: "hamachi start" it tells me that it can'T access the tun device (no such device) but it's there...
Dont worry about it, i went back to Hero after getting Debian working.
Updated PP
I reflashed my phone, so I had a chance to install Hamachi and document it again. As such, I updated the parent post with the correct instructions.
Enjoy, and please let me know if anything doesn't work and I'll happily try and help with troubleshooting.
--W5i2
Hmm almost eberything works except 'hamachi start' wich throws bad response from tuncfg (/dev/net/tun no such device)
Prolly a problem with my debian installation but you got an idea without reinstalling the whole thing?
You need to make the tun device first:
# mkdir /dev/net
# mknod /dev/net/tun c 10 200
I have since rewritten the original post to have more detailed (and proper) instructions.
^_^
-W-
Tried that after it was posted here in a reply (i think)
But to no avail (tried sudo tuncfg too but nothing changed)
Can't wait to go try this.
Does anyone have any VNC viewers (preferably free) that they recommend for use with this? My computer is behind a NAT router so I need to use Hamachi to access it.
Spica
Hi all,
Am I able to install this Debian into my rooted Eclair 2.1 Samsung Spica?
Thanks in advance.

Or my Evo 4G?
I have ubuntu running on my Evo 4G per the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=720622
I've followed the hamachi install instructions in this thread, but when I try running "hamachi start" I receive the following:
07 04:33:56.732 [ 0] [6315] tap: connect() failed 111 (connection refused)
Does anyone out there have any idea on how to fix this and get hamachi running?
This would be AMAZING on the Evo. Just imagine the possibilities of remote administration.
I have it working however I can only mount linux shares I cant mount windows drives
and what sucks is the ubuntu image wont let you paste files to filesystem ,root, home, or anywere. only from terminal.
I have tried every process I can find in the forum regarding rooting and ADB but I cannot seem to figure this out. I would like to think that I am computer literate and that I know my way around pretty well but somehow this escapes me. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and can't seem to get anything right as far as this process goes.
Is there a rooting/adb for dummies section that someone can point me to?

Thanks for your help...I did look around but I still can't get it to work. I've been through quite a few threads. I don't know if I'm missing something somewhere or what.
is your problem your computer not seeing the phone?
i RUU'd my phone earlier today to test out something i did, but then i found out that adb couldn't connect anymore. i'm still trying to figure it out.
Exactly what are ya having problems with?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
1. HTC Sync installed?
2. Android SDK downloaded?
3. Debugging enabled on the phone?
4. is ADB showing up in the Device manager?
5. Check this thread out dealing with x64 drivers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=560962
Hmmm..
I have Win7 64bit too
I think I just downloaded the newest Android SDK and HtcSync for the Eris. It
works fine for me. What exactly is the issue? You have the phone in debug mode or whatever mode right?
some folks have used PdaNet
http://www.junefabrics.com/android/download.php
first off, I can't get Sync to work at all no matter which version I've tried. Then the drivers won't load for sdk. it just seems like nothing is working together at all.
alright, i figured it out.
uninstall HTC Sync and the HTC Drivers.
reinstall.
done.

Alright... what's your main problem? Are you not able to get the ADB driver to work with your phone in Windows 7 64 bit -- if so, do know that it is possible, because I have it working fine on my computer (Win 7 64B).
If ADB driver situation is your problem, do as follows:
1. Download the file below (to desktop for easy access - This is the Vista 64 bit Drivers)
2. Unzip
3. Go to Device Manager
4. Find ADB (It should come up as ADB with a Yellow Exclamation mark next to it)
5. Right click on it, choose update driver
6. When it asks you to auto find the driver or browse for the driver -- choose BROWSE.
7. Set the path to where you downloaded the file, and then click next.
8. If done correctly, you should see a window pop up that says "Successfully installed My HTC driver".
ADB will work after that is complete. To test, open CMD - go to androidsdk\tools folder, and then run adb devices (If serial # appears, there you have it).
Also with the method above, this will allow the HTC Sync application to work as well.
Source: ME, tested extensively and more than once.

HTC Sync for the Hero was released before Win7, so the Vista drivers will work but you have to jump through some hoops.
Now the Eris version is the same HTC Sync but it has drivers for Windows 7, it is the same software but is bundled with newer drivers.
Roger that guys, thanks for the help. I will attempt tonight when I get back to my computer.
Ok just got home and am doing the suggested things, after installing the SDK it wants me to install packages and when I choose cancel, windows says the program was not installed correctly. what do i need to install?!
Also no ADB in device manager!
yeah they took out the packages of the SDK, so you have to add them in as needed.
I have a 2nd Win7 box that's an Android virgin, I will try and run through the install tonight(off at 5pm PST)when I get home and I'll document the install.
hang in there.

Install packages? What? Weird, the Android SDK is natively 32 bit, but will work in Windows 7 64 BIT (That's what I'm running now).
Alright, steps to take:
1. Uninstall/remove everything you did before.
2. Grab the Windows Android SDK -- download it (to the desktop is fine)
3. UNZIP/Extract the SDK
4. Drag the Android SDK to the root of your drive (Local Disk C: )
5. For easy access purposes, RENAME the Android SDK from what you see to something like: androidsdk
6. Open Command Prompt
7. Verify that you can get to the "androidsdk" directory by running the command: cd androidsdk\tools
8. If you can get there -- then good, so far.
9. Now to test "adb" -- Have your phone connected to the PC.
10. While still in command prompt and STILL in the c:\androidsdk\tools: dir... run command: adb devices
11. This should return your Serial #
12. If your serial # shows up, then make sure you can run the command adb shell and see if you get the # sign, which indicates that you are rooted -- If not, then you need to begin the process of rooting your phone.
Also, if ADB doesn't work after this point, do what I told you earlier, I can guarantee that it does work, because I actually did it this morning on my work computer (Which is Windows 7 64 Bit).
Good luck, report back.
Holy crap it looks like it worked!! Thanks Pseudo! Now if I could only get my damn phone to find Sync I'd be all set.
Still can't get sync to register with phone but that's no biggie. But have a small issue that I dunno where to look to find an answer. I'm trying to update my recovery from 1.5.2 to 1.6.2 and can't seem to follow the directions appropriately.
via adb -> Requires a custom recovery (with test-keys)
Code:
Copy recovery-RA-heroc-v1.6.2.img to the root of your sdcard
Boot into your current custom recovery (boot while holding HOME)
Connect your Hero via usb to your pc/mac/...
adb shell
$su (not required if you have root already)
#mount -a
#flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.6.2.img
None of that seems to work lol.
So since we're on the subject does anyone know how to set up the drivers for linux mint kde? I'm brand new to linux and I've managed to do some things but that is just one thing that i cant do so far and after almost a day pf searching this forum and others i just cant seem to get it

Alright, lets begin - To upgrade to RA 1.6.2, (You have to be in recovery mode (Home + Power) -- and also have your phone connected to the PC). Then do as follows:
1. Download the 1.6.2 file
2. Copy or move it to your androidsdk\tools folder
3. Run commands below:
Code:
adb push recovery-RA-heroc-v1.6.2.img /sdcard
Code:
C:\AndroidSDK\tools>adb shell
Code:
mount -a
You'll probably get the next line below -- that's okay.
Code:
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /system/sd failed: No such file or directory
Keep going...
Code:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-heroc-v1.6.2.img
After you do this, the shell should return #, if it does, then run:
Code:
reboot recovery
Now verify that your recovery says 1.6.2.
Good luck.

Well, since you've asked a good question, I shall direct you in the right direction. Linux Mint is a derivative of Ubuntu, so this guide should work for you., however do note that I have not tested this in Linux Mint, as I currently run Ubuntu 9.10, but you should be okay.
Go HERE and bookmark this page for reference, it has some good stuff -- Now this guide is not directly for our phones (CDMA HERO), however the directions, if followed correctly... DO WORK and have been tested by me (did this last night) with successful results.
When you get to the web page, start at "Generic Linux Instructions". Also, when you get to the heading "Set up ubuntu to recognize your phone, and the adb/fastboot commands in the terminal" -- step 4 will ask you to create an empty file, use the Ubuntu 9.10 format and NOT the older versions, again this format should work in the latest version of Linux Mint.
Hope that helps. Also, if have problems or want a step by step tutorial (pending how "new" to Linux you are), just ask me or PM me, I'll write one up.
I've been a lurker for the last few years; never thinking I would need any help or assistance .. but I have a situation ..
My Sprint HTC One was working better than I had ever seen it just last Thursday. I was running CM11, with ART. I had an old version of SuperOne (Sense 5) backed up with TWRP. I thought I'd go ahead and load the backup, and update all the apps and then make another more recent backup before returning to CM11. I got as far holding the power button and selecting recovery. The phone locked up at that point.
It took 10 minutes to get it back to the screen where you can select fastboot, factory reset, etc. Interestingly I couldn't get into TWRP. The screen read "entering recovery" and nothing. It would just hang there.
I read that erasing the cache with fastboot might work, and it did. But when I was able to enter recovery, instead of restoring CM11, I thought, "well, maybe now it'll work", so I just rebooted. Wrong. Wouldn't boot. And, now running fastboot cache erase (or erase cache) doesn't do anything.
Now, by pressing the power button alone and holding it in I'm able to get to the fastboot, factory reset, etc screen. Went to fastboot usb, and fastboot commands work but ADB doesn't detect the device. I can't send ADB commands, but I can send ONE fastboot command. After sending any fastboot command, the phone locks up. Nothing from that point.
I tried installing a RUU. The .exe file detected the version on my phone, and everything went great until the program said it was booting to the bootloader. Locked it up. Nothing from that point.
I need help.
Thanks.
I uninstalled the HTC drivers and reinstalled them. A suggestion since ADB didn't work. And I can't get into bootloader. No difference.
Any suggestions

Ok it's probably a problem with your USB cable or USB port. Try using another PC and another cable.
If this doesn't work read some guide to properly set up ADB, uninstall all HTC stuff and install only the "naked driver" and than run the LATEST ruu. Maybe you have upgraded your firmware and can't flash older ruu's.

Will Try
I'll give that a try. I really appreciate the help. I run my whole business on that phone.
Just make sure you follow my suggestions properly. It should be just the cable, and I think you don't have the right drivers for ADB. Stay calm your phone is just soft bricked. You only need to be patient and read. Naked driver here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263822

I did the same thing a few weeks ago and lost recovery in the process. The naked driver did the trick. Also the thread about restoring after a gsm rom install is a great. It's not a loss. Not having an sd card in the one made things a little different for me, but I was able to get everything back. These drivers suck!
Progress
I've followed your directions. I downloaded the naked driver, and the minimal ADT. I found the correct RUU (3.04.651.2) I attempted to relock the bootloader, but I got a message .. " Status read failed <no such file or directory>" Went ahead and tried flashing the RUU (fastboot flash zip ruu.zip), and got the message "FAILED Remote: not allowed"
The phone is unlocked, CID SPCS_001, and HBOOT 1.44
I wasn't able to access TWRP recovery earlier, so I tried reflashing the img file. Failed remote: image update error. I tried erasing the cache .. "Failed remote erasing error", but now I can get into TWRP.
TWRP says I have "0" internal storage. I also can't mount system, data or cache. The choices are there but can't be selected.
I can't use ADB (device not found). and the phone isn't detected by windows. I had installed the HTC drivers, but couldn't uninstall them, so I install HTC Sync manager and then uninstalled it. The program deleted the HTC drivers when I uninstalled it. When I plugged in the HTC One (with a new cable) nothing happened, so I used the windows hardware wizard to install the naked driver. The phone still isn't detected, but again I can issue fastboot commands. Well, one fastboot command and then the phone freezes up.
If I use filemanager within TWRP there's no emulated sd card. I really think that's where my problem is. No partitions are available. And, when I use TWRP to shut down, it warns me that no OS is installed.
Any other suggestions?
I sure appreciate all your help. Thanks.

Are you Linux savvy at all? All this crap is far easier on Linux. I guarantee the drivers are absolute cakewalk -- there isn't a specific driver at all, just a rule to tell the kernel about the device.
I can give you the udev rule for the phone if you are sick of trying to get Windows to work. The Android SDK is also quite easy to install.
If you want to try, just install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Later versions also work, but that version is the current stable release. I can help from there.
Try another cable maybe it's faulty. Uninstall all the HTC crap, run some cleaner app like ccleaner (maybe there are leftovers) and install only the naked driver. Your phone should be detected. Make sure you have the latest version of ADB. here's the latest http://click.xda-developers.com/api...n 1.1.3 Here&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13877458281136
The ruu is not to be flashed with fastboot commands, you must run the exe file
Here's the latest ruu
http://click.xda-developers.com/api....05.651 .5&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_138775039936710
-extract zip to a folder on your pc
-using fastboot, type this cmd: fastboot oem lock this will relock the bootloader
-from pc, run ARUWizard.exe from the extracted folder. it will run the RUU utility & flash back to stock

When you get it installed, login and open a terminal windows (it'll install Unity by default, so click on the first button on the left sidebar and search for terminal, then click on it), then type exactly the following (cut/copy/paste should do it too) noting that the first command will make you give your password since sudo requests root level access:
sudo apt-get update -y
sudo apt-get install -y wget openjdk-7-jdk
wget http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r22.3-linux.tgz
mkdir ~/bin
cd ~/bin
tar xvzf ~/android-sdk_r22.3-linux.tgz
cat >> ~/.bashrc <<EOF
if [ -d ${HOME}/bin/android-sdk-linux ]; then
PATH+=":${HOME}/bin/android-sdk-linux/tools"
PATH+=":${HOME}/bin/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools"
fi
export PATH
EOF
exit
That last command will exit the terminal. Start another and it'll read the .bashrc file and presto -- you have SDK access from everywhere.
Then, type this command:
android
That will bring up the SDK UI -- let it download/install all of the latest stuff (r22 of the tools and whatnot).
When done, close the android SDK window.
Type adb (bet it works), but fastboot will require root access (I'm not going to teach you how to get around that yet -- no problem, you just run sudo and I'll show that in a sec).
Finally, plug in your HTC One and type adb devices and let's see if it didn't just know it already.
Lemme know.

@bigdaddy619 probably got you covered, but if not, let me know. Your friend for Broadcom chips on Dell boxes is here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx
The gist is pretty simple. If you don't know which wireless you have, do this:
1) widen your terminal window so you have ample room (good and wide);
2) run sudo lspci -v
Hunt down the Broadcom info -- it'll say which device is your broadcom wifi. Just need the numbers.
Working ..
I feel like I'm making some progress here, but it's still not being recognized. Everything worked great up until ...
After closing the SDK window, I connected the HTC One, and "Fastboot USB" came up on my phone. I typed adb devices and got a line "List of Devices attached" by nothing was showing as being attached.
If I enter a fastboot command, it hangs saying "waiting on device".

Lemme know.

Actually -- let's walk before we run. I loaded up Ubuntu real quick to assure I can duplicate what I want you to see. So, do this:
1) connect (if not already connected) the HTC to the usb port so you get 'fastboot (usb)' as normal;
2) type the following:
sudo su
lsusb -v >/tmp/lsusb.txt
chmod 666 /tmp/lsbusb.txt
exit
Now, edit that file in the text editor (just search for 'edit' like you did for 'termina' and select the "Text Editor". When you get that open, have it "File | Open" the file above -- /tmp/lsusb.txt
Then look through for text similar to what I give below. If we get that -- I need the idVendor line -- it should read: "idVendor 0x0bb4 High Tech Computer Corp."
I copied some sample output from my own machine so you can see how it should look:
--------
probably a bunch of stuff we don't care about, then something like...
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0bb4:0ff0 High Tech Computer Corp.
Device Descriptor:
bLength 18
bDescriptorType 1
bcdUSB 2.10
bDeviceClass 0 (Defined at Interface level)
bDeviceSubClass 0
bDeviceProtocol 0
bMaxPacketSize0 64
idVendor 0x0bb4 High Tech Computer Corp.
idProduct 0x0ff0
bcdDevice 1.00
iManufacturer 1 htc, Inc
iProduct 2 Android 1.0
iSerial 3 XXXXXXXXXXXX (I X'd this out -- it'll be your device serial id).
bNumConfigurations 1
Configuration Descriptor:
bLength 9
bDescriptorType 2
wTotalLength 32
bNumInterfaces 1
bConfigurationValue 1
iConfiguration 0
bmAttributes 0x80
and a bunch more stuff...
If we don't see that, we got troubles. If we do -- we'll make a udev rule to load it up for adb and fastboot.
It appears he's bricked, when we first mounted the phone to the PC and it tried to install drivers we got QHSUSB_DLOAD which usually indicates a brick.
The strange thing was we could still access fastbootusb and the PC would recognize it being in fastboot. But any other command then fastboot devices would lock up the bootloader and fail.
Getting Closer
That's exactly it. "idVendor 0x0bb4 High Tech Computer Corp."
Finally, something worked. Thanks.

It will recognize as a compatible KitKat/DataMedia ROM files that look like:
cm-11-*-tenderloin.zip or
ev_tenderloin-nightly-2014.??.??.zip or
aokp_tenderloin_kitkat_*.zip
again im throwing the gapps-kk-20140105.zip in the ttinstall folder along with the update-cwm-jcs-dm-tenderloin.zip file and then ejecting the tp selecgint unmount media volume and am still getting the error message.

Can the Touchpad Toolbox be updated to so that it will accept GAPPS named pa_gapps-*4.4.4-*.zip instead of pa_gapps-*-4.4.2-*.zip?
Either that or remove or allow to skip the requirement that GAPPS zip must be present to do the "Install Android" selection. I eventually worked around it rejecting by renaming the 4.4.4 to 4.4.2 but it will probably frusturate novice users.

Anyone know if the charging dock will still work following an android installation?
Also, I will search for compatible rom builds, but do themes work as well? (Not sure why they wouldn't, just checking)

TP Toolbox failed; I'm OS-less; please help
I'm on a Mac.
I can't figure out how to make tptoolbox work on the Mac.
I went to a frustrated friend with a PC (Windows) who did not allow me enough time to complete my task.
My Touchpad is now OS-less, as in no OS; no WebOS, no Android.
I successfully did a full data wipe, twice. Thus no OS.
I couldn't get past the next step, install Android, on TPToolbox.
I got stimied after trying to copy the three files to the ttinstall folder. It said a proper recovery file was not found.
I followed the steps above to a T. I copied and pasted the three files from the windows batch to the ttinstall.
I realize in those three files there were no gapps, no recovery, no kitkat files.
So I hope I copied the right three.
Anyway, my frustrated impatient friend kicked me out, so I have no access to a PC anymore (just my old faithful Mac); I have a TP without an operating system on it; and I have no idea how to proceed (as I don't know which three files I'm supposed to copy and paste as it seems the ones I did copy and paste weren't the ones and there's no Gapps, no Recovery and no Android KitKat installs anywhere (I thought that would be within the TP Toolbox programme itself.)
Like I said, I clicked on the correct links, I went with JCSullins first link vs. the other two.
So somebody, anybody, write me back if they know either how I can proceed, or if I can just send you my TP and you can do a big favour for a small nobody.
Thanks everybody.
If not, anyone wanna buy a TP with no OS?
I still need help. HELP!

Have you tried to install it using jcsullins recommendation that you use the Linux way with Mac?
Kit Kat working
OK, like the chap above, I moved the wrong three files into the ttinstall folder. I figured that out. It's the way the thread was written, easy to get confused as they have links right below and say it's those, when in fact it is not (a gapps, recovery and rom need to be moved in there, not the data version of android as that link downloads). Anyway, I sorted it out. Just putting closure on that. Thanks JCSullins! Now we need a Mac version so I need not borrow a friends PC laptop.

Have you tried running the script in terminal as jcsullins suggested?
C) Run the script provided with TPToolbox
Extract the contents of the TPToolbox zip file from above.
Navigate to the tptoolbox_v40 directory that was extracted from the zip.
On Windows, run the batch file named tptb_v40_win.bat
On Linux, run the script named tptb_v40_nix.sh
On Mac, try what I said for Linux and let me know what happens.

I did a quick search online and found that Macs don't handle the .sh command, rather the command is, believe it or not, .command.
More that that I'm a novice. So I can't say.
And that's when I went to borrow a friend's PC whereupon I double clicked the .win file, extracted it, then ran it in the ensuing window no problem.
--------------------
Now I'm glad someone is reading this thread. I have a question for you (or anyone). Now that I've TP Toolbox'd my HP Touchpad (and I did not select the option to install WebOS on it), how do I transfer files from my Mac (preferred method) to the HP Touchpad now?
I put it in recovery mode (the big USB sign) but it didn't show up on my Mac desktop. It was unrecognized in the Finder too.
So I went back to my friend on hands and knees and am now using TP Toolbox to put an updated file into the ttinstall folder. Is TP Toolbox now the only way to get files on and off my Touchpad? Say it ain't so (and walk me through the process if it ain't so).
There must be an easier way. What am I to do? Please help. Thanks.

From a search on Google (I don't have a Mac):
First in terminal make the script executable by typing:
chmod a+x (yourscriptname)
Then in finder right-click your file and select "Open with" and then "Other...".
Here you select the application you want the file to execute into, in this case it would be Terminal. To be able to select terminal you need to switch from "Recommended Applications" to "All Applications".
NOTE that unless you don't want to associate all files with this extension to be run in terminal you should not have "Always Open With" checked.
After clicking OK you should be able to execute the script by simply double-clicking it.

Regarding Android File Transfer, and I thank the contributor below for chiming in with that advice, I've used that, but it only works sometimes. It is not reliable; and doesn't see ALL the files (as a WebOS USB connection to my Mac used to).
Is there some way to put the HP Touchpad into USB mode and connect it to my Mac (like I used to before on the HP WebOS side (when I had an HP WebOS side)? This may be argument enough to keep the WebOS side. (I can put it in USB mode on Android, but the Mac does not recognize the HP Touchpad at all doing it that way).
---------------------------------------------------------------
Another unrelated question: What ever happened to PreWare? I can't find it anywhere. I installed Jason Robitaille's WebOS QuickInstall 4.5.0 and ran it ok. But when one clicks on the globe, there's no Preware. When one clicks on the Search field , there are zero results (except themes). No Applications, Kernels, Patches, etc.. Nothing. So what ever happened to Preware?
Not having been able to find that, and with Palm no longer supporting WebOS at all after Jan 15, 2015, was the nail in the coffin for WebOS for me. If I can't find Preware and all the apps and tweaks that come along with it, the only reason I can see keeping any WebOS on this tablet at all is to be able to put it in to WebOS USB mode and easily connect it to my Mac.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lastly, I'm running JCSullins build titled/dated: cm-11-20141002-SNAPSHOT-jcsullins-tenderloin.zip
How do I take a screenshot with this ROM? It used to be Power button and lower volume button, but that screenshot option is no longer available in this JCSullins build, nor in the previous build: cm-11-20140625-SNAPSHOT-jcsullins-tenderloin.zip
Any ideas how to take a screenshot?

My guess is that executing the shell script by double-clicking starts it in the wrong directory. Open a terminal in the directory where you have the Toolbox files and execute it from the command line there.
Hi all,
I had built my own Nook-color on a Ubuntu machine before and I finally get around to have a VM based on the latest Ubuntu 14.02.
I followed most of the instructions here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_ovation.
When I get to the ./get-prebuilts, I got an error that the file doesn't exist, and this maybe my issue. I ignored this error and continue down the path.
Now when I do the "./extract-files.sh' part, I am getting the "device not found' errors.
I have the device plugged in, and when it does, the VM popped up the device folder (SD etc.), so I assume at least the device was recognized by the system.
If I ran "adb devices", it shows a empty list, so what gone wrong? (My HD+ has the adb enable and the icon showed up on the top left corner.
I'd searched the forum and found no solution related to mine.
Any help is appreciated.
Instead of extracting prebuilts (requires adb), add the Muppets proprietary vendor to your local_manifests (or just download and place in vendor/bn).
https://github.com/TheMuppets/proprietary_vendor_bn
Thanks Jon.
Actually I already have those files in the folder.
After searching the net for answer, I finally found the problem. It is that the usb's ini file in the ~/.android folder is empty, I need to add the BN's vendor id (x2080) to it. I also need to set its ANDROID_SDK_HOME to the PATH.
My problem doesn't stop me from making the build, but it will prevent me from using the adb for debugging down the line.
