No, it's actually a downgrade to 4.3 that ATT will get while all others are going to be updated....

I guess AT&T is pushing 4.4.2 my friend was over with his Moto X just before and it prompted him and he took the update, he has an unlocked US GSM XT1053 on AT&T

We have to get someone to post the update here.

Carriers only greenlight updates for the model they sell. So for AT&T they will only approve updates for the XT1058. It doesn't matter what phone you are using on that carrier (or no carrier at all and just WiFi), it's the model phone that the carrier sells. AT&T phone updates approved by AT&T for their model (XT1058), Verizon phone updates approved by Verizon for their model (XT1060) and so on....
Using a non-AT&T phone on AT&T, the update is approved by whichever carrier that phone model belongs too, not what service/carrier the phone is being used on.

First, you need Stock recovery on your phone. Since you have ATT, you likely have a locked bootloader so you do have it in place.
Next, inside the OTA is a manifest file. It contains a list of files and their check sums it expects to be on your phone. If the files are missing, or the check sum doesn't match, the OTA will fall. So you likely changed or deleted something on your phone which the OTA needs to be there.
Did you do any hacks? change or remove any APK files?
Oh, and lets not forget.. Since you have ATT and a locked bootloader (unless you paid for a code from the Chinese site), if you've rooted using RockMyMoto, SlapMyMoto or the like, and used MotoWpNoMo to disable write protection... after you get 4.4.2 OTA to install, you'll keep root but the effects of MotoWpNoMo will be undone, and you'll have Write Protection ENABLED... so anything you need to change in /system or the like wont survive Power Off/On (aka hard boot). So you won't be able to update SuperSU later, etc.. making Root pretty useless.

[Q] I bought an AT&T Moto X, trying to flash it to Telcel's ROM and got stuck.

I recently bought an AT&T Moto X, 32GB (XT1058 me thinks). But I don't like AT&T's stock ROM due to the bloatware.

For some weird reason I can't flash the phone with the Movistar's ROM, but the flashing is working with the AT&T ROM.

It's NOT recommended to flash other carrier official firmware. Custom ROM's are a different story.
If you want to try anyway, at the risk of bricking your device, you could try the Rogers official ROM IF AT&T is also XT1058. I can confirm the Rogers firmware has ZERO bloatware. Source: I own Rogers unlocked Moto X and run stock ROM.
Mine is a XT1058 AFAIK, but then again, just to confirm, where can I double check?
EDIT: Nevermind. It didn't let me. Only AT&T's version seems to be working.
Is there a way to uninstall the bloatware without unlocking the device? Perhaps by rooting?
Ah too bad.
For future reference, model# is on the back

Did AT&T do something to these phones so they wouldn't work with other stock ROM's?

You can't root if you are on 4.4.2 already, unless you have an unlocked bootloader. Which you can't do on motos site. Not with an at&t retail phone.
You can look in general section for the China unlock thread, and can pay for an unlock code....if your phone is on his list.
Otherwise, you can't root.
And flashing other carriers firmware is not a great idea as said above....especially since your bootloader is locked... Limits your options for fixing issues.

Verizon 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 update.zip

Maybe a dumb question, but is there a place to get the 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 update.zip files for my Verizon moto x dev edition?
Verizon didn't drop a 4.4.3 update because there was an SSL security flaw that google found, fixed and quiclkly released 4.4.4.
That being said, Verizon hasn't dropped 4.4.4 yet. They usually drop at least a month and usually longer after everyone else because they have to add all of their bloatware and test it first.

"Kit Kat" refers to 4.4, 4.4.2, 4.4.3, and now 4.4.4
I'm not understanding what was incorrect about @dlumberg 's post...
Edit: or did you mean that Verizon was the first carrier to receive 4.4? I believe that is correct (they weren't behind the other carriers on that release).

Flashed 4.4.2 sbf over 4.4.4

My bootloader is unlocked. My stock rom was messed up with system modifications and I tried to go back to pure stock. So i tried flashing 4.4.2 sbf file but i am already on 4.4.4. I didn't know that before that you cannot downgrade from 4.4.2 or higher.
The thing is I run the following commands
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
i didn't run the subsequent commands
and tried rebooting phone immediately
the phone is working fine as such(system modifications are still present and i want to get rid of them).
I read somewhere that if you try to downgrade you may/will brick your device. And also of a guy who did something like this (downgraded from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 and it was working fine until he took an OTA, that OTA bricked his device)
Are there any chances of me bricking my device?
Your system shows 4.4.2 now? If so, yes....taking an OTA will very likely brick you. And those ones are much harder, or impossible to fix.

You'll be eventually able to flash L manually too.
But as long as you are confident you've never downgraded your bootloader version...you'll be fine. If you have, or are unsure....best not to OTA.

I'm in a similar situation as op. reason why i don't do what you say is: there is no official 4.4.4 image from Motorola. and i have no idea where rdslite came from nor its source code.
what i did is email Motorola support repeatedly for an official 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 images because they sold us developer devices and promised support. it's ridiculous that they only offer 4.4.2 to download for restore.

Moto X 2nd Gen is affected by 'Quadrooter', How to Fix?

'Quadrooter' flaws affect over 900 million Android phones
Moto X 2nd gen is vulnerable to the Quadrooter according to this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.checkpoint.quadrooter
Since Motorola never released any security patch and Moto X is out of their future OS update program, what are the options left for the existing Moto X 2nd gen users who want to stick with stock ROM and don't want to part with their Moto X any time soon?
i allready check with Quad Rooter Scan and its possitive the mobile had the 4 vulnerabilities.....the only solution is go to cm13 ....for the moment when the patch is out go back to stock. I hope it will be soon, the news is everywhere so Qualcom has to do something.
I received a security update zip this morning. Unfortunately, I haven't posted enough on XDA to be able to include a link to it. Maybe someone will put it up for everyone.
I would love to have a version of it that I can flash while rooted. I'm not really looking forward to reverting to stock and doing that whole mess...

Put it on your internal storage and reboot to recovery. Select apply update from sdcard (or something like that). This will only work if you are truly stock with no modifications to the system partition.

Thanks, I was also thinking about that option in recovery if it will work, but never tried so was skeptical.
One more thing, if I update through this route then will my stock phone will turn into 'modified' one or will remain stock? Will there be any problem in case some OTA arrives?
This should leave you 100% stock
