1. You can try to flash a fresh stock via odin and in order to make a fresh installation
2. You can also try this CM11 version, compatible with CWM 5.0.2.6

What's happened?
Why restoring stock ends up in boot loop?
Could you provide a pc screenshot of steps you followed on odin?
Then we can help to solve the issue.

I think you have issues with Clockworkmod Recovery.
Do the following...
Fully reset your phone to stock. How?
Download and Copy CWM 5.0.2.6-Cooper.zip (Dev-Host, 5.42 MB) to SD Card
Power off your Galaxy Ace
Get into recovery mode by pressing Home+Power Keys.
Choose "apply update from sdcard"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Select "CWM 5.0.2.6-Cooper.zip" and confirm the action.
Reboot system now
Again go to recovery mode by pressing Home+Power Keys.
Now you are successfully installed CWM 5.0.2.6!
Now Do not try to install a kitkat/CM 11 rom. Most of the CM 11 ROMs are designed to be installed from CWM 6.x.
So,
You need to check whether a CM 10.1 (android 4.2.2) rom is working well on your device. Try this one for example.
If you have this CM 10.1/4.2.2 without any problems, you can give a try to KitKat ROMs.
Try this ROM - [CM11] Kitkat For All [NIGHTLY-2014.02.22] by Salim El Yabouri
This one can be installed with CWM 5.0.2.6. There is no need to install CWM 6.x
Or There's a guide to make the cm11 roms to compatible with installation via CWM 5.x
Enjoy tasting KitKat! :laugh:

Your only option is to flash the stock rom using odin. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin,

Once installed, go to recoverymod and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,

CWM6 was designed only to flash CM 11( KitKat) based roms. You won't be able to flash anything other than that using it. Your rom might be working perfectly. But in order to install CWM5 in your current state, your only option is to flash stock rom back. You can't flash CWM5 from CWM6, similarly you can't flash any other roms using CWM6 either. So do a complete back up of data using Titanium Backup, flash stock rom using odin, install root and install CWM5. You won't have any problem with non-KitKat based roms. As for the KitKat based roms, you can either make any CM 11 rom compatile with CWM 5( thanks to @brijeshep) or use CM 11 rom flashable through CWM 5 (thanks to @Salim El Yabouri).
Make CM 11 ROM Compatible with CWM 5.x ~ Cooper Device
Kitkat For All
Once installed, you can restore the data back. Hope I helped
I have the same problem before and i dowload the two recovery 5.0.x.x and 6.0.4.6 , i open the two zip and place the recovery.img of the 5.0.x.x zip into the 6.0.4.6 zip i erase the old recovery.img of 6.0.4.6 zip and i flash the 6.0.4.6 whith the recovery on my phone (6.0.4.6) , it show me the installation of a 6.0.4.6 cwm and when i reboot into recovery i had a 5.0.x.x recovery

[Q] Downgrade CWM from 6.??? to 5.???

Hi
I updated CWM to 6.??? to try a KitKat ROM but I want to go back to a Gingerbread one. I don't know how to downgrade the CWM to 5. When I try and install a CWM 5 zip file via CWM it gives me lots of errors.
Is it possible to downgrade the CWM?
thanks
Paul
You can either flash stock rom via odin on comp and reroot, or download and install mobile odin ported to our device. And then flash the odin flashable cwm.tar file through mobile odin.

You cannot downgrade from android 4.x to android 2.x. That's because 4.0.4 and higher roms have a different bootloader. So don't try to flash gingerbread over kitkat, but if you tried and your phone didn't bricked let me know!!!

I know well what CWM stand for and what it is. I know he was asking how to downgrade from CWM 6 to CWM 5 but he was asking also for a downgrade from KitKat to Gingerbread. I just said that it could brick the phone.
For the CWM downgrade you must:
1) reboot in recovery mode
2) install the latest PX recovery for galaxy ace
3) reboot recovery
4) install CWM5
5) reboot recovery
6) done!

Actually downgrading from KitKat to Gingerbread will not brick the phone as long as you flash it through odin. Then again flashing any Gingerbread custom rom will not brick your phone as they are made to work only on CWM5. Hence flashing Gingerbread custom rom through CWM6 will only give you errors. Its always safe to install Gingerbread stock rom using odin. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all firmwares and drivers (check "Preparations" section),
Flash stock rom on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 using odin/
Once installed, go to recoverymod and do a wipe data/ factory reset & wipe cache (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,

Well i mentioned it earlier in a post but still instead of upgrading to 6.0.4.7 mardon's new recovery has more feastures: Check this link.
But I recommend 5.0.2.6 as it can flash almost all zips without any problem whatsoever.
As written on mardon's page that 6.0.5.3_1 was ported to Ace for flashing his kk custom rom

Thank you.
About your remarks:
1. cwm 6.0.4.8/philz edition did not work. a) it has mount problems; b) it prevented android 2.3.5 from booting.
2. You, before editing, said recovery is independent of the rom on the phone. If this is the case, then why all cwm 6 versions are in trouble with /system on my phone? and why mardon said that won't work with stock rom?

Cwm 6 or 5 cannot mount /system /data or /cache bcoz cwm cannot handle samsung's filesystem rfs used in galaxy ace. This problem has no solution except changing to custom rom or using cfroot kernel which has ability to change fs type to ext4.also it is quite better than stock kernel. Proceed with caution. Also i think you need android 2.3.6 for cf root kernel. You can download official android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com and cf root kernel for s5830
from Google. Also do try cwm 5.0.2.6 once it can work.
And btw flashing 2.3.6 will wipe data cache root everything.
If you choose to flash 2.3.6, try cf auto root kernel. Cm roms use ext4 by default with quite better kernels.

1. CWM 5.0.2.6 does not have any mounting problem.
2. I do not want changing to custom rom.
3. Can "cfroot kernel" be used along with my official 2.3.5 rom?
4. What caution do you mean when you say "Proceed with caution"?
5. If I install 2.3.6, then will I have "cfroot kernel" and consequently can I install CWM 6 without mounting problem?

How did you install recovery? What's the rom details? Do you want us to aim in the DARK?
You can't install CWM and TWRP at the same time. So my guess: you didn't install one of them successfully and that's the reason for the missing Backup option.
What Rom are you using? If stock rom go to Philz thread and download an install the correct kernel for your version. After that you'll have a recovery with backup options.

As I said: go to Philz thread, download a Kernel for your DDLSC and install it. Then you can boot into recovery.
I do not like tools like this for these basic steps - so no help with the tool from me.
And:
please recharge your battery and don't ever try to do things in backup with a nearly empty battery

Sir I remember It Next time Sorry sir..
Can you Please provide me a Link of my kernel because in Philz thread there are Many Links and Infos i am Confusing a Bit sir
I hope U understand ( i already posted a screenshort of my kernel ) please provide me a Link so that i download and install it..
and one More Q sir.. if I install a kernel.. before it i have to backup my apps and messages ? or Not ?
Please no PM with the same questions. Asking and answering questions in public is the preferred way.
If you want to understand what you do you'll have to read the threads and try to understand what is written. The thread owner doesn't do this for fun or because he wants to waste time.
You'll find the kernel in post 3 of Philz thread, there is a link after "tw only:". This will bring you to dev-host and folder with different versions (the one with 5.11.2 contains your kernel).
And after downloading please follow the instructions how to install. It really isn't so difficult.
(A final one: please no "sir", absolutely not necessary and makes me feel like I'm at the wrong place)

Please Explain! How does One Install CWM Recovery 6.0.4.5 on a GT-i9000

Hi everyone,
This is my first post in this forum.
:silly: How do you install CWM Recovery 6.0.4.5 on a GT-i9000 running 2.3.6? The best I can do is install 3.0.0.5 and only because it comes with a root. Why do I want to know? Because apparently I need at least 6.0.4.5 to install SuperNexus 4.4.2 KitKat. Please tell me how to get 6.0.4.5 unless it isn't needed. Please also include links to any files I need.
Thanks

Hi Android
Have you managed to get E2 recovery mode on your GT-I9000?
If not then you wont be able to much as it seems E3 recovery is installed by default and you need E2 or you wont get get certian options.
And if you try to update anything you'll get tge stupid E signiture failed message.
To be honest im a noob when it comes to all this and cant get past the E2 thing i softed bricked my phone but managed to do a recovery.
People don't seem to be very chatty on here idk whats up?

On the i9000 recovery can not be flashed separately from the kernel, they belong together. Your way would be to backup EFS as the first thing, then flash step by step CM9, CM10.2 and then you will have CWM 6.0.4.5 and be able to flash your KK rom.
BTW Mackay ICS CM9 2014 is a lot faster and smoother than JB and KK roms for the i9000.

Please do you mean we should flash CM9 first before CM10.2 or you can just flash the CM10.2 and have the CWM 6.0.4.5?

I had stock JB and I had this program in menu "Software update" and it was an 19-25 mb update..I downloaded and I installed the update then the phone rebooted and it went in cwm recovery. If I install a custom rom everything seems ok, after reboot it enter straight to recovery and I don't know why.

If you set up working stock JB follow this:
*prepare custom ROM, kernel and Gapps then copy to SD
*if you want CWM download this: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.5-p880.img, then copy *.img file to a folder where adb is installed and rename it to recovery.img

*power off, then boot to recovery
*flash ROM, Gapps and kernel

I recommend you not to use this kernel, it is deprecated. Try without flashing different kernel first. Which CWM did you download? From link I gave?
EDIT: Have you done formats of /system, /data, /cache ?
You bugged out your device. OTA doesnt work properly with custom recovery installed. Reflash kdz to fix the issue,but try grabbing everything you need from via adb from recovery first as you may have to do hard reset from stock recovery which will format your internal sd (in case you dont know how to flash custom recovery via fastboot)
