[Q] Using Gear for remote touch? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hi,
I recently started to take a lot of photospheres on a tripod. Sometimes the pictures turns out blurring because of turning, sometimes it's just random. To take a picture again, we have to press "back arrow" in top right corner (landscape). But when phone is attached on tripod, even a simple touch can easily blurry the pictures. Therefore here is my question. Is there a way to emulate a touch press? Maybe using tasker?
Example - when I press the script on Gear, I want my phone to touch the pixels coordinated for example at 1800x400 (from 1920x1080). Is that possible? I hope I made it clear enough

How to zoom in/out with main camera?

People,
does anybody know how to zoom in or out with the main camera on the back?
If I want to take a picture and press the center key in the navigation pad, the auto-focus is used, and the picture is taken immediately after that. I tried all of the keys, but didn't manage to use the zoom-function...
I know there is a zoom-function, because there's a '1.0x' displayed in the left side of my screen...

You tap where you see the 1X. But you can not zoom on the highest settings. So for example if you are set to "L" or "S" definition you will be able to zoom but not if you are on 3meg.

Mike,
thanks for your promt answer!
It works just like you described. Only in 1M-mode or lower resolution, the zoom-functions is available.
Btw, instead of tapping the screen, you can also use the navigation-button up- or downwards to zoom in or out...
Saluti!
Since you say that it only works with lower resolutions, i take it it's only digital zoom (giving picture loss through interpolation and such), correct?

Touch Diamond/Pro camera tip: Increase the responsiveness

I have to say my Diamond camera pictures are superb. I really do like the quality of pictures it takes and I use it a lot. Low light, macro, daylight, it's all good. However, controlling it can be very frustrating at times.
Sometimes I can't get it to respond or take a picture at all. I've used many ROMs and have had the same experience across the board. I'm sure many other Diamond or Touch Pro users have as well. I've found the problem to be that dang circle smart touch ring. It sounds useful to use with the camera but IMHO it only causes more problems than good. Initially I had my camera shoot option set to "Touch and press". I thought I would like to be able to focus first then click the action button after. Like my regular point and shoot. Well, it works some of the time. A lot of times it hangs up or freezes OR... It starts zooming in or out because I accidentally touch the ring.
So with that said, I have since forced my camera to work like the old days. Click of the action button only. I set my shooting option to "Full Press". It still will auto focus on it's own before the shot and then take the picture automatically. I've had no problems with this. It works great even with macro shots. But there is a second step I had to do which is actually more important I think. That is disabling the ring within the camera. To do that go into the the Registry Key: HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Camera
Back this key up then proceed to delete everything in it. That will disable the smart touch ring from working within the camera. It still works everywhere else though. I don't see the need to zoom when taking the pic since it's digital zoom anyway. I can zoom on it in the Album afterward. You can still zoom if you want just by pressing the screen and touching it though.
Now my camera has been working like a charm without any hang ups, freezes or accidental zooming. Also when I press the screen to bring up the menu or hit the X it opens up every time too. Now when I reach for my Diamond camera to take a picture I'm much more confident that it will work on demand every time.
Much better for me and maybe you.
Thanks for the tip! I haven't taken the plunge on registry editing yet, but I'll definitely keep this in mind if I decide to. Any chance of releasing the edits as a CAB?
Really shame on HTC for not including this as an option. The combo zoom and shoot button is ridiculous.
I removed the entries from HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Camera as you recommended also set the shoot option to Full Press and now i'm pretty pleased with my HTC Touch Diamond's camera. Thanks for sharing this info with us!

Panoramic photos?

I know you can take panoramic photo's with the camera on the phone by taking multiple photos..
But is there an app like on the Taylor swift commercial that you just sweep the camera around the room?
Not that I have seen, but why? That feature works perfectly in the camera, you don't really need an app for this.
I'm pretty sure its basically the same thing. The Samsung camera software just gives you a green box to follow and makes a camera sound when you reach it... you're still sweeping from left to right in real time.
Any way to get higher res panorama with the stock camera? The panorama is 640x480 photos stitched together.

The phone does this with the built in app. You can move the phone in a sweeping motion and it will take 8 sequential shots. This can be done in either landscape or portrait mode.
When sweeping the camera a green outline will appear in the area of the next shot to help you properly align the photo. When the outlined area is centered on the screen then the phone automatically captures the next image...wash, rinse, repeat.
I have been using this feature a lot lately since the pictures are gorgeous and it is awesome for group photos. A fun thing I like to do is have someone move along to the next shot and pose so you get a strange clone effect of one person throughout the scene.

Have you tried the action shooting mode? Does a very similar thing.
I too would like to see an app that used higher res images (640x480 really does not cut it)
I would also like to see something that could take 360 degree photos, not just moving the camera left to right but also up and down.
Well that's just the sensor setting, the final resolution will be much greater than that in one direction. Holding the phone vertically will give a nice photo. But I would like a 1080 vertical mode for my dual monitor setup and no black lines.

Yeah, but a panorama that's about 550px tall and has fairly obvious seams makes it less of a big falk that the phone stitched out all by itself. Oh well, if you want it nice you really need a camera with a proper mount, anyway, and preferably raw output, and striving on a computer...

[Q] [REQ] Remap Lock Button (Camera etc.)

Hello,
i just saw a thread that was about remapping the LockScreen/PowerOff button.
In the camera app, the Lock button disables all controls and the touchscreen.
While this may be useful while recording a video (perhaps while filming yourself and accidently touching the screen) its useless while taking a picture.
May it be possible to modify the behaviour of this button to something like
1.Press = Lock the Controls then another Click = Take Picture / Video
or
1.Press = Take Picture / Video and Double Press = Lock Controls
or something similiar intuitive?
I'd like the idea of taking a picture with this button (even thou it's position is not optimal in considering the position of the Camera Hardware itself , but way better than figuring your finger on the touchscreen for taking a picture and maybe accidently focusing something e.g)
Is there a possibilty to modify the standard behaviour?
Is there a way to get the sourcecode of this app, maybe i can dig there a bit, its obvious that samsung has overriden the behaviour in this app?
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
Regards
Yes, the hardware key of camera will give more convenience even the position is not suitable for easy handling. But still better than soft button.
Sounds like a good idea but seeing as my phone's picture quality looks like I have taken a picture of lard underwater after sanding the lense I don't tend to use it all that often..

[Q] How to take drama shot?

I tried. I selected 'Shot & more' mode. Then took picture of a moving objects (I tried kids, vehicle etc).
The object was moving from one end of the frame to other. While taking the picture, I hold down the camera button.
Once the button is released, its starts 'processing'. When processing is completed, it displays the photo.
How much ever I try, I get only 'Best photo' and sometimes 'Eraser' options enabled.
Never Drama shot or Panning shot enabled.
Any idea how to get this working?

some interesting suggestions here - http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/381821-taking-drama-shot.html
As someone who posted in the forum linked above, I can tell you the advice you need is there. There are also lots of official guides for the S4 that will help with the S5 as well.

Had a chance to play with it again yesterday.
I was finally able to crack it.
What I was doing wrong: When the subject entered the frame, press the camera icon. Keep holding until subject exited the frame.
What need to be done: When subject enters the frame, tap on the camera icon. Like you do when taking normal picture. Don't hold it.
Camera will display 'Processing....'. I think its taking additional pictures at this time. Hence hold your camera study and don't change the frame.
Once camera completes processing, it will display the image with all options like Drama shot, Panning shot etc enabled.
Attached is my successful attempt from it.

Thanks so freaking much. Moving Subject MUST be in frame FIRST before you TAP ONCE. Do not HOLD or it will take burst shots and only offer "BEST SHOT" feature. Thanks so much i was getting so frustrated
