Hello guys.
Almost 2 weeks ago I had a really strange issue with my SP. I force stopped a Sony Select app, and then my device got in bootloop - over and over again, never stopping. I got home and repaired it successfully with PC Companion.
Now, it happened again... But it wasn't Sony Select Force Stopping now. I changed my theme - to a downloaded one; the wallpaper wasn't showing. Redownload the same theme - the same issue. Then I also got no wallpaper on the other themes... I thought of restarting the device. Then, SURPRISE! Bootloop.
Now I am repairing my phone again using PC Companion.
If anybody knows what causes this issue, please let me know, I never ever rooted this device, only upgraded via PC Companion, not other sources.
Thank you.

Even if I updated with PC Companion, the firmware might be corrupted? So I'll. need.to flash another one from a different region?

But I'm from EU. I'll probably try another one from EU.
Even so, what really caused this?
There is not always a cause we can point out. Sometimes the systems gets messed up for some reason. You can Flash General EU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2645939

flashtool
The only thing you can do in situations like this, as told in every such thread, is reflash with the flashtool.
Will FlashTool pick it up when connecting via Vol -Up? If so, try pushing the FTF again, even a different FTF?
i will try when i get home to see if it will pickup the flashtool.
it kinda sucks tho. why it did this ? i didnt even install anything in the stupid thing aside from few games. jesus.
What FTF did you use ? I would suggest using another just in case, you may / may not need to wipe data
the one from the main thread :/. " not the one with the typo "
i think its from singapore one ? because it had some stuff from that country.
i will go home in 1 hour or so and try to flash without wipe.
finger crossed :/
its not accepting the flashtool.
i turn the device off. i click on the back botton. but nothing.
the log says the file is connected in fast boot mode. but there is nothing . i still get the pop screen that shows the instructions how to plug your device.
any help

ok. by miracle i got it to work. but i am not sure what happened and why it did this.
all good i guess :/
also, i wonder if there is an official version of this. not bloated with weird stuff. like euro version or something.
also. one more question.
is there a root for this ?
Reinstall the software with sony update service is what you have to do
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
glad to read that is fixed ..
I had this same issue yesterday. I installed the the update from the India c6602. Things were working fine the first day. I did a reset and then had the same issue as the OP had.
A re-flash with the flashtool didn't work the first time and the I tried the Sony companion fix option, and still had problems. Then I realized I had to install the drivers. Are you on windows 8? did you install the drivers that came with the flashtool? I did and then re-flashed, and now its fine again.

Most people seem to have flashed the Global FTF, you could reflash the old firmware, then when you plug into PC Companion it should flick up the update for you/your region.
I would just flash Global
Hi everyone !
I've some problems on my Xperia SP. I bought this phone 1 month ago, it's unrooted, the build number is 12.0.A.1.257. So:
1. The homescreen restarts frequently and randomly, the Viber, and most of my apps too. I've got about 300-350MB of free RAM every time I check it.
2. If I'm listening music via Walkman app, it stops randomly, and if I restart the app, it starts from where I started before. I think it's similar to the first one, and the RAM management causes this issue too.
3. WiFi problems ...
Please help me, if you have any idea ! I'd like to fix these issues, because it was a quite expensive phone for me ... Thank you !
Well, the latest FIRMWARE is the 12.0.A.2.245... I recommend ya connect ur phone to PC Companion to install the update or maybe flash it with Flashtool :highfive:
EDIT: 1. I dont have HomeScreen Restarts
2. Walkman go perfect here
3. Wifi is stable too

Flash the newest firmware (245) via Flashtool. Its very easy to use and u don`t need to unlock ur bootloader or something else.
Btw. I did to, cause the update to 245 fw wasnt available and I didnt want to wait.
I've got a more or less big problem. My Xperia SP cannot recognize, that my SIM-card is inserted. If I turn it on it doesn't ask for the PIN and furthermore I can't receive or send SMS's, I can't receive calls or call somebody and I haven't got mobile data. I tried to insert my SIM-card in another sony phone and it didn't work. I also put another working SIM-card in my phone and it also couldn't recognize it. I think (I'm actually sure) it's caused by the non-functional phone apk, but maybe also the SIM-card is broken.
What shall I do? I have a TWRP backup, but I'm not 100% sure, whether it is from before or after. What is a less- or non-risky possibility to replace the phone.apkor is there a better method to repair the phone?
edit: I found out, if my phone is turned on and I remove the SIM-card, it realizes it, and reboots.
Please help me!
???
Sorry, but why is my post ticked with a hook??? The problem isn't solved yet!

First of All thanks for your reply. But I already took another SIM-card (which on Xperia L works fine) and put it into my device but there were the same problems. Yesterday I downloaded the SemcPhone.apk file, pushed it to /system/app and changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and rebooted. Then it asked for the PIN but after unlocking I got a bunch of Force closes and they didn't stop.. Even after rebooting again I had the problem, so I deleted the apk file again. But it's now the same like I described there above :/
Reflash ROM.. You have phone.apk problems aswell so this should fix it
Okay.. And the stock ROM, is this the "Deodexed stock ROM" (777MB) from android development or the "normal" stock ROM (odexed) (12.0.A.2.245) also from android development section?
No, to prevent any issues just open Sony Update Service (can be downloaded from the Sony website) and "restore" your phone..
So go back to full stock
Okay cool thank you I'll try it

The last version of Sony Update Service misses the XSP.
I have contacted Sony Mobile to point this out. Untill we recieve a new update you need to use the PC Companion to restore your phone or you need to use Flashtool

Okay, then I'll do that
:/
I tried it with PC Companion but when it had to start repairing and it booted the phone into flashmode (I think so, because the LED was green) and then PC Companion said: "The phone contains modified software, which cannot be updated" and below "Error 2003" ..
I tried it 2 times and both the same :/
My phone has unlocked bootloader, is rooted, and has the DoomKernel, no custom rom.

Well that is unfortunate. You need to relock bootloader and reflash with flashtool.
You cannot use Sony software with unlocked bootloader
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
Oh! That's actually bad. But then I first have to flash back the stock kernel, then relock bootloader, repair with PC Companion and eventually unlock Bootloader again if necessary for me, right? Just for being sure.
Yes correct you need stock kernel then lock bootloader, then re flash/repair phone
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
Ok good. Now the last question: from where can I get the right stock kernel? I found a post from DoomLoRD, where he wrote, that you have to flash stock kernel.sin and no FTF kernel but I couldn't find a stock kernel.sin and in another post from alivanov79, alivanov79 posted a link to an FTF kernel. So Do you know which one is the right one?

Hello! I hope you're still alive!
I am facing the same problem, but before I start doing stuff, may I know if your problem has been solved?
My Xperia SP as well on occassion doesn't detected sim card. Sometimes when I need to make phone calls the most, it starts to do it. I am planning to send it for warranty, as I am having another 20 days before the warranty expires.
Surprisingly, many Sony Xperia models users have experience of having a phone that doesn't read SIM cards. Google reveals it all.

Hey,
yeah, I'm still alive
So, the thing is, my problem there had been caused by myself, fiddling around with some root stuff, so it hadn't been my phone's fault.
But what I did is I just flashed another ROM because I didn't see another solution and it really drove me crazy not being able to use the SIM card related functions.
Well, keeping your post in mind I don't think you'd like to flash another ROM (I probably shouldn't have done that, too).
So if you didn't already try to repair your phone with PC Companion, that'd be the first thing, I'd do in your case.
Otherwise I'd send it for warranty as you considered it already.
Yeah, my sister's Xperia L also has that problem and that's really unfortunate.
So I hope, my "advide" could help at least a bit although there may not be plenty of hints, but yeah.
If I shocked you with that essay I'm sorry, too

Lol I don't think ROM flashing is the root problem, as I have been using CM11 for a month (and maybe more). The problem starts appearing lately..
I will flash stock ROM and relock bootloader and then reflash stock via PCC to see if it will fix the problem
Anyway thanks for the reply!

Yesterday I updated my Xperia T to Android 4.3 via Sony Companion Software. My phone is not rooted. Everything apperently went fine, but after the Update process I wanted to turn on my Wifi, but it did not work. I tried that from the quicksettings and form the settings directly. The button remain grey for a certain time and the turns back to off.
I turned off my phnone and on again, but a white triangle with a screw came and the phone remained in that status for more than 6 hours. After that it turned on, but the Wifi problem remains. Regarding Bluetooth, that works fine.
What I noticed is that when I check the phone info and the Wifii settings, no MAC Adress is listed there for Wifi. I don't think its a hardware problem, because everything was fine before updating.
What should I do? I am afraid to turn my phone off bcause it could go back to the white triangle remaining for several hours in that state. I dont think a factory reset would help, because there seems to be an update problem and I would like to rather not loose all my settings.
Any help would be very appreciated, because I urgently need wifi in my university.......

The ftf file is the stock Rom, you can find it here on xda. Flashtool also. Flashtool only works if you have windows xp, vista 7 or 8. Not on 8.1. Repairing it using pcc should be easier though

Unfortunately, reparing it with PCC did not help and I am quite desperate. I bought the phone last year as a used one. I am quite a newbie in this field, but could it be, that the rom installed is an altered one and a normal update via PPC leads to this Wifi problem? Normally that should not be the case, but how can I find that out what is causing the problem and what must I do to overcome this drama of mine. I whish I didn't perform that update, because everything wAs working fine before.....

ok what u need to do is root your phone first . they are some threads that show u how to do it i recommed after rooting jus use this rom
httphttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647459
to root unable debug mode in settings/developer
and unknown sources in settings/security .. first u will have to go back to 4.1.2 to root ur phone and then follow the above instructions
Look at these threads, it can help a lot:

A factory reset would definitely work. You don't know how many times I've seen people (even with different phones) have problems like these because they change their Android version and/or flash different ROMs without wiping their partitions, i.e., doing at least a Factory Reset. If you were rooted you could try deleting the "wpa_supplicant.conf" file in /data/misc/wifi. The problem is, since you're already on 4.3, there is no sure way to root 4.3 unless your bootloader is unlocked. So unless you find out a way to backup your data/settings, you're either going to lose it all when doing a Factory Reset, or downgrading to 4.1.2 (to root), or even flashing a stock 4.3 FTF, because I'm sure your problem is that you haven't wiped.
My device after flashing another ROM from XperiFirm started crashing and restarting constantly, also I can't connect to Wifi/Data/Bluetooth.
Try customised UK, the IBE or Italy.
