Anyone seen a leak of this yet? Sony is terrible at giving information and sticking to release dates.

I just got the device in the mail, but no sign of the lifelog app in the ply store. Yes, bad Sony, very bad.
http://www.xperiaguide.com/2014/02/28/download-xperia-z2-systemmediaapps-apks-and-odex-files/
That's the link for the apk, found on a Z2 memory dump. If someone will be so kind in modifying it for use on every phone that would be amazing.

Got mine from a seller through amazon today. Also looking for the app packaged into an apk, or even a zip that could be flashed.
I called Sony up to see what they would say and there knew pretty much nothing. about an hour of being on hold mostly while she checked every detail of information i gave her, she told me that the initial release was just going to be for the UK and that i shouldn't even have the device (i'm in USA).
I've tried flashing the lifelog apk from an early Z2 apps pull but with no luck.

Same here. They dropped the ball big time

As far as I can tell, the SmartBand isn't even officially released yet. It's showing as a preorder item on Sony's online store. I'm sure the app will be available when it's officially released.
Sony are hardly in the wrong if you purchased one early from an unofficial source, are they?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Sony aren't even showing a release date and Amazon are showing the 11th of April for release.

This is so disappointing that the app isn't available yet, but it's nice to have the device ready to go. I'm in the states myself so I hope it won't be too much longer before this thing is usable. I've never been so excited about being an early adopter of a product that isn't even technically out yet.

I just noticed on the product page that Android 4.4 is required to use the SmartBand.

You guys will be waiting a while longer to use it if that's the case.

That's really strange... the whitepaper available via a link on the page you reference states "to any Android (v4.3 or later)"
Hopefully that isn't the case... I have the Xperia Z1s with T-Mobile and I would be greatly disappointed if their own recently released device doesn't even support it (its running 4.3). What also concerns me is when I try to pair it with NFC it launches Smart Connect and I get the message "Accessory not compatible. Bluetooth Low Energy is required in order to use this accessory." when both the os version (4.3) and the phone specs clearly support BT 4.0LE,

Well, I didn't read the whitepaper. It says Android 4.4 more than once on the product page though.
I guess you'll see when it officially releases and the app is available.

Well there's an updated white sheet that does reflect the 4.4 requirement. I honestly never even looked beyond anything but the BLE requirement.

I have bee in touch with Xperia forum Sony people and staff seems surprised that the product is released Asia but the app is not... It is frustrating to have the band but but being able to use it ... I do confirm JB will not work as it needs the ble and smart connect in order to dl the mgmt app of the band.. However the links to the apps pointing to the store are dead.. Will update as soon as I got a reply from Sony

Why won't JB 4.3 work? 4.3 is when ble was first officially supported by the OS, not 4.4... There are other ble devices that work fine in 4.3.

i just noticed that the lifelog is now up on the play store (found it on my phone only), and also sony posted a article on it
[Can't include link here as i have not posted enough yet] but it is at sony mobile blog for 2014/4/8
However it is stating that it is not compatible with my device (nexus 5). Can anyone pull it and get it working for non xperia devices?

More like "quickest at shoveling a crappy update out the door". Take any Samsung update for a major Android OS, and add at LEAST 3-6 months before it's even remotely stable.
ICS on the I9100 was an utter and total ****fest of epic proportions... It didn't stop being a ****fest until many other manufacturers started deploying ICS.

Explain to my then, how come the first jb rom is Polish and that was few months ago, however branded jb roms are still rolling out in a lot of countries. moreover specific apps are added to different carrier roms, why would Samsung do that?

Miracast ? That should work via DLNA right ? Sony's mirroring doesn't !
Sony's Miracast works exactly like Google's. DLNA doesn't do live streaming, it only streams existing files.
There is almost nothing new in 4.2 for Xperia users, Sony did the most important things before Google even announced them.

I wouldn't cry too much to get Android 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 because that bug ridden piece of junk introduces bugs of it's own, including the infamous and absolutely infuriating Wifi bug where Wifi stops working when you turn the screen off and notifications for GMAIL WHATSAPP etc stop working until you turn the screen back on.
No fix in sight for that either, it's the main reason I ditched my Nexus 4.

Well of course "apple are the best". They never even let you know a new OS is coming so why would you say they are slow, right? Plus they give you features that other phones had for years then put an advertising spin on it that make you so "happy" you finally got a feature others have had for years.

[Q] MSM8960 on my Xperia T?!!

Hi everyone
I recently purchased an Xperia T unlocked and while looking in the build.prop I noticed something weird, the proc showed up as MSM8960! As I was unsure because I had already messed around with my phone, I decided to do a system repair through pc companion to set my phone back to base. I then used android system info to recheck and sure enough, the proc still shows MSM8960. Am I dreaming or isn't the processor supposed to be a MSM8260-A.
Please enlighten me, have Sony updated things on later Xperia T's or is it just wishful thinking on my behalf.
Mine says the same, I don't know if it's supposed to be like this, it probably just doesn't specify this exactly for some reason.

http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/461839#461839
Perhaps a software problem but if not it would be weird!!
Well, at least I'm not the only one. If someone who owns the T since October did the same tests we'd be basically fixed...
I own my xt since November and it say's the same...

Ok thanks for the feedback. It's still a bit strange. I wonder what Sony will say, if anything, in the thread that was opened on their site.
Mine is manufactured in early March 2013 and it also says MSM8960.

Yep, it is technically
Right to clarify this:
The chip set in the T is the 8260A. However for software purposes it is so similar to the 8960 that it may as well have been named that. Every reference you will find will be to 8960 - technically in CAF 8260A doesn't even exist. This is why you find the baseband saying 8960.
Sony's answer:
Correct chip set is MSM8960.
The white paper is going to be corrected accordingly.

Different strokes... Wait until you take a picture on the Nexus 4 (or from what the specs say the 5). Unlike the Sony, it is truly horrible camera.
The trick is never buy a subsidized phone, then it won't be simlocked or bootloader locked. That was an option with the Xperia T. I picked up mine for $279 at newegg.

thats your problem?
Maybe the Xperia T LTE is the one getting 4.3 update. I think the 3G one will not get the update. Maybe i'm wrong.
Neither are just like what happened to my play. A phone with specs good enough but not given the updates on purpose. If sony want to gain the market they need to release 1 flagship a year and support their previous flagships for longer than 5 months. The galaxy s3 is older and is getting android 4.3 and why aren't we?

Because no update to new version and sony bad, nexus cool because google. New version is good, because it keeps on battery half hour longer/lasts shorter but better. And profiles/new function in camera which i will use two times in my life/better integration with google plus omg! And no new version means that flagship abandoned. I am betrayed. sony bad.
To be honest i don't understand it too. When it comes - it comes. If not - who cares. Update from 2.3 to 4.0 was a big deal, because everything changed. API, nature of Android etc. GB slowly died and became incompatible with many interesting apps.
But update from one jelly bean to another? Dudes... It's only features!
Please just be happy that Sony released quite recent well written Android version. It's highly optimized and allows to do almost everything that is available to 4.2 and 4.3 devices..

Hi! I have strange problem over here Sony Update Service downgraded my Xperia V software from JB 4.3 (9.2.A.0.295) to 4.1.2 (9.1.A.1.140)... I checked SUS hoping that my Xperia V will get JB 4.3 (9.2.A.1.199) and SUS said that new software is available, i upgraded and BAM! Now i have JB 4.1.2 (9.1.A.1.140)... Anyone got this problem? I think it depends entirely on how people use their phones. I, for one, don't see any serious bugs, not to mention all the bloatware that comes with it, and can actually get 2 days of battery life on one charge. Actually, I can't think of any bug aside from the visual problem when installing apps.

[Q][opinion]Android L on Xperia Z

people what do you think of the new Android L?
do you think we will be able to the run the dev-preview on our Z ahead of time?
have you seen that the aosp build in the presentation got a battery saver mode?
basically i could post a lot of questions but what i really wanna know is your opinion and your ideas about it. btw do you guys think as this will be a major release that we will get it from sony as well?
here is one of the sources i read about:
http://www.gsmarena.com/google_announces_andriod_l_developer_preview-news-8864.php
and of course our portal

If Sony wants to to remove the "Sony doesn't update old devices " tag they have, they need to update the original Z line (Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z) to it. But, as off now, no news regarding Nexus 4, which has the same processor as ours. Let's wait until Sony give us a pronouncement regarding that...
Sent from my SGP311 using Tapatalk

If Sony would support our Z for the 18 months, there is a possibility that we might get it.
They really need to get rid of their "bad" image regarding updates.
Doesn't matter either way, would be nice to run it, but the fact is some of the benefits won't be there for our hardware, and most of us will be due a new phone by then.

Without, I'm sure. With Sony? Maybe not so fast. System Requirements, weren't even mentioned. But it will be running on phones cheaper than the Moto E, which is already extremely cheap by itself, so I think the Xperia Z (and brothers) will handle it just fine.

Don't expect much, the Z already got 2 updates. 4.3 and 4.4. Sony thinks their job is done now. We could just run an AOSP build once they're running.

Yeah, but the problem with AOSP is bad Google camera (no Sony camera ported yet) and no FM radio
Kexec is very close to complete functionality for the Z1. This will enable unlockable Xperias to run any custom kernels
This is the thread on Kexec if you're interested in keeping up with development. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2495152

Android L is said to come to Xperia Z officially.. Probably the last update.. But i think its a major upgrade in terms of UI.. Its already known that Android L's UI includes a lot of Sony APIs and CM APIs.. With LG also working along, i think it will be very good.. And 4.4.2 was a initial major upgrade from Jelly Bean fw's.. And things got well in 4.4.3.. I think Android L would be less buggy and would bring more performance and system stability because of ART only.. I think it will be a big upgrade..

My mistake.. Its LIKELY to arrive.. :silly:
http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/5570...e-android-l-xperia-z2-tablet.htm#.U65oLNKSwrs
But i am sure it WILL.. Coz XZ is a premium device under Z2 and ZU.. And SP too..
Android L is so freaking fast and nice, just flashed it onto my N5.
It simply has to come to the Z.

So, a guess from a random website based on what Sony did with KitKat. Previous update schedules don't affect the likelihood either way of getting newer versions of Android.

It would be great, but I have doubts that it will. HTC are talking about providing it for some of their devices 90 days after release. If Sony were to even follow such a fast schedule then it takes us well outside of the supposed 18 months of support for Android devices.
I hope they surprise us though. ?
