hello guys..i have tried cm 10.2, 10.3 and 11..all are buggy in few features (like 720p playback, voice call, wifi won't turn on sometimes) but multitasking is okay in CM roms..due to these bugs i revert back to stock 4.1.2 rom as there are no bugs but i have to say the lag is killing me..stock dialer and messaging app lag like hell..stock rom eats RAM a lot..my phone hangs and i have to restart it and it is annoying..is there a way to reduce lag in stock 4.1.2 ? i can root it if that helps? please help

Root and flash CoCore kernel. And install HarshJelly too, it's stock based rom.
Root the phone, install cocore kernel, deodex your ROM, use greenify = less lag.
For dialer, use third party apps like exdialer.
For SMS also, you can use third party apps

You can try that beta too. Just do not overclock CPU. Some phones are stable with higher frequency - and some got reboot. But if you keep it at 1GHz you will not have problem.

[CoCore 4.1Final] [CoCore-mini 1.5] [CoCore-P 1.0]

[CoCore-E 9.0]
[LTS]:
[CoCore-E 9.0]

For more understanding - [CoCore 4.1Final] standard for GB [CoCore-mini 1.5] mini for GB (with less stuff, less governors, IO scedulers and maybe some more) [CoCore-P 1.0] for I9070P version.
CoCoreE - for JB, CoCoreEP - for JB I9070P.
EP doesn't exist anymore. E is also NFC compatible now.
I would suggest using Cocore 8.6. its overclockable and for me overclocking is working fine. The battery life is good and i am not experiencing any lag since i flashed it. As far as dialer is concerned you can use third party apps. There are dozens of them on play store. And if you are on stock you could use Hangouts as your SMS app in place of stock messaging app.
As far as dialer is concerned you could use Ex-Dialer or Dialer+ (The latter is also a good app and i liked its UI.)

That's incorrect. Latest CoCore EP is here.
Nope. That might be as for now, but, you haven't researched enough.

He's testing a way to handle NFC, that if it works, there's no need for EP anymore. And, one of his testers says it works, so.. yeah, a release or two, probably. You're welcome.

I also try custom roms but I prefer to have all the features of the device.
After many tests, a few months ago I found a way to make good use of the experience with Stock JB. It has worked perfectly:
For lags with stock apps (dialer, etc.) -> Just replace.
For bugs in Stock Cam -> use internal storage only
For kernel -> Use Cocore 8.2 (before i used 6.2)
In addition:
Freeze some native apps.
Turn off animations.
Many guys use deodexed ROMs too. But not my case.
Anyway, STOCK JB worked all this time.
Waiting fully functional CM or AOSP.

can u suggest a stable 2.3 rom which can multitask?

and if you get a phone call then your net gets disconnected. that might be causing it.

Hey guys
I am running JB 4.1.2 on my Galaxy S Advance. First I was really pleased about the new functions, the additional speed and the new the design.
( I was running 2.3.6)
But now my mobile hangs a lot, if I'm watching videos, playing music or if I just go on facebook.
I've used the instructions of this video and I've done exactly the same as showed. /watch?v=2W2NVfGJ0Cc
Do you have any ideas, how I can speed up my phone?
Maybe with an other kernel, an other ROM or something like that.

i am using stock rom XXLQ4 with cocore 3.3 kernel and no frills config: governor-pegasusq and i/o-sio
still if u feel the phone lags which i dont think it will, u can enable forced gpu rendering in developer options, although u may experience screen flickering.
try Thunderzap 4.1 kernel and wipe cache/dalvik. See if there's any difference. It worked for me.
my phone also hangs quite a lot, a few times a day when i want to unlock my phone it just shows the last used app (be it the launcher or any other app) and doesn't respond except for the power button. when i press the power button the screen locks, but when pressing again it's still frozen.

does cm 10.1 have a better battery life than cm 10.2? cause in cm 10.2 it was quite terrible, only about half a day with wifi off (i never use data connection, always turn that of ) and in standby most of the time.

only downside other than that is the high vibration strength, is there anyway to lower that? (only for buttons and certain onscreen things)
and is there much difference in battery life between 10.2 and 10.1?
edit- just installed it, but wifi always takes about 2 minutes to turn on, so i'm back to stock based

If you haven't done yet, root your phone. Then flash a custom recovery. CWM or TWRP. Then flash a custom kernel or a custom rom.
I think the Jelly Bean stock-rom isn't recommended for this phone. It didn't use to lag, when I used Gingerbread 2.3. After flashing Jelly Bean it hanged a lot!
Now, i rooted it, installed CWM and the custom rom Pure Vanilla. It doesnt lag anymore!

Hello everyone
I am looking for a fastest and stable rom with minimal features. I dont require anything fancy. It also does not matter if it is gingerbread or jelly bean, or custom or stock. The only requirement is it should be fast and stable.
Can you please suggest which would be the best rom as I have tried searching the threads but it seems to be a sea of different roms with many technical terms which I dont completely understand.
Currently I am using Remics jellybean.
Thanks and regards
you can try CyanogenMod 10.1 by ADC-Team - Release 8 and K^Kernel 3.4.x OC/EXUV 390MB
Remics is already fast
I have been using the tweaks in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46566228#post46566228
The device is fast and stable enough for enjoyable usage.
Also install and use Clean Master ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard ) regularly to cleanup cache and logs and temporary files.
Using Greenify ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify ) also is great to save memory on background process.

I agree that remics is fast. However I was hoping that there might be a faster rom (because of less minimal features) since I dont require the fancy features of jellybean.

Fastest and stable rom with minimal features
CyanAOSP JB 4.3 v1.4.5 [Stable - For Gaming ] or [Team D.I.R.T] Dirty Unicorns 4.3.1
these ROMS are fast..
try the CyanAOSP JB 4.3 if you want minimal features...
Mackey ROM, beast ROM, Slim Bean and Gamerzrom are the light and stable ROMs for gaming and performance
Another way could be freeing your android from any app you do not need ...gives more RAM to your android ...
Very stupid question, I know, but:
I've been googling and searching on this site for 2 days looking for a list of absolutely necessary apps or of the apps that can be unistalled without affecting Basic function: phone, SMS and data tranfer.
Is there a way to uninstall in the Settings/Apps/ the apps for which there is no uninstall Option or this Option is greyed-out?
You would made a great dead and give me more time to Play with my Kids if you could maybe point me to a posting on the Forum where these question were addressed.
Thanx in advance.

JB(4.1.2) is laggy and not effective solution.
better try custom roms and enjoy.
My device once had stock JB and it worked well indeed. However, it probably needs time to settle in and will be smoother. Every rom is laggy at the very beginning of usage after flashing.
Root your phone, and flash cocore kernel. Better yet, install HarshJelly, it's a stock based rom. Or any custom rom if you prefer. Nothing much you can do if you don't want to root your phone. Or maybe upgrade your jb firmware to the latest one, LQL

should i use 6.8 or the latest version??
Latest version (9.0) allows CPU overclocking. Your phone may or may not be stable at 1.28ghz, instead of stock 1 ghz.
If it turns out to be a problem, then go back to 8.6, 6.8 is hopelessly old... or just use no frills CPU control to set your cpu back to 1 ghz and enjoy 9.0
Stock 4.1.2 + cocore 9.0 flies...
Just set your cpu to 1.0

6.8 works on 3 advance without problems. all others versions lags/reboots etc (for me)
9.0 testing
If you want to stick with stock firmware mean root it and uninstall the bloatware comes with stock os. Use the greenify app to stop the unwanted apps running in background.
Or else try custom jelly or kit Kat Rom. Lot of roms available for our model.
Your wish

Try using JB Stock without SDCARD.
If the problems go away this is the problem.
I suspect that the JB version for SGA has trouble dealing with SDCARD. It is no coincidence that the internal storage has been a priority for several most current devices.
Unfortunately we have very little internal storage.
Advise a SDCARD good quality and good speed.
Also avoid occupy it completely. This goes also for internal storage.
Another good practice is to optimize from time to time the SDCARD.

I use Cocore 8.2. long time without lags, freezes, hangs, etc..
Happened a reboot , but only one in months using normally.
Totally Acceptable.Probably no connection with JB Stock or kernel. But Android itself
Dialer, message, etc..Only replaced and solved.
Stock camera has also worked well. Just always use internal storage and no more problems.
Launcher: "NOVA" . Smooth and without lags.
Anyway, using for months, I have no more complaints about stock JB.
SGA is not the fastest smart and has only 768 RAM, but everything works fine with JB Stock.
Of course I'll try AOSP or CM in final version.
Hi guys , have tried dozens of roms. Had ISC 4.0.4 for 1,5 month and it was perfect but recently , rom is much much more slower and camera app is not working what so ever. Can you tell me , what is the best and most stable rom to date ? Right now trying slimkat 4.4.4 but this rom is just lagfest...

To me as now, the one in my signature, i've used it for a long time with many apps installed (just do not install twitter and facebook, use the mobile version instead with a super light browser).
You have to install greenify to hibernate apps, thanks to @NoDze to the suggestion!

Hahahah, thanks mate for the mention.
By the way, I hate using the mobile versions of apps so I use alternatives. Klyph/FriendCaster for Facebook and Plume/Falcon Pro for Twitter and my phone is blazing.

I'm using now the TonyP CM11 and is super stable and smooth. Give it a try. Camera is working good. I just miss the radio from LG.
