I use a Samsung HM7000 and really like it. I've switched out the bud for an Umbo to improve comfort and loudness (I'm getting old) and I wear it with the ear hook. The covers it comes with are comfortable by themselves and don't require the hook. The little portable charger is a nice touch. I can't speak to the audio quality for music as I always switch to wired earbuds for that.

Yes, it does. Also tells you if you have waiting messages, etc. It will do pretty much anything you can do with voice commands on the Note2. When you press the call button, it starts S voice which takes over from there. So, you can web search, start navigation, speak a text, etc. with a push of the button on the earset. It does glitch occasionally, but it's fairly reliable. Occasionally I'll ask it to call Teresa (my wife) and it will respond that it can't find Theresa in my contacts (note the different spelling). These are generally glitches with S-voice though, rather than with the BT itself.

I use Plantronics bt headset. Longlife battery, hq sound, two micros... and "cheap" . Love plantronics!

Hi,
Which model?

So, I am still having trouble finding the best solution for my needs. I have heard plantronics are very good with sound quality, but do they have my other needs?
Again, trying to find:
voice dial
speak caller ID (contact name)
great audio
I have tried samsung hm7000 - didnt like the audio and it didnt speak the contact name.
I am using Jabra Extreme2 - does everything, just doesnt have the sound quality - its too quiet for me.
What about the plantronics series?
Anyone with experience with the marque series???
THX!!

Motorola S305... anyone used these with the cdma Hero?

They look great with good reviews. Wondering if the bluetooth will work with our phone for listening to music/answering calls?
Use them at work. Best 20 bucks I spent on Ebay. Freaking awesome.
Comfortable? I see in your sig you're using cyanoganmod 6. I'm using the same rom. Does it work properly with it?
Do the controls work to change songs and does it pause the music when calls come in? I would be using these in the library at school primary with my laptop and phone.
Any cons?
Thanks!

press the speaker spot on the dial pad and see it that works, if that doesnt see if the mute is not on. Also there is a list of routers that do not work well with this program, so if you have a wifi xoom then try a diff router signal

So what number does it call from? Do you have to go through a SIP or what?
Also, I wish bluetooth headsets worked with the XOOM. I hate speaker phone mode and I'm sure that's the only way this would work.
After trying several different alternatives this is the best so far. The quality is great on my side but there's some echo on the other side. I'll have to try it with some headphones to see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for sharing.
It should i did a couple of test calls using wifi and 3g and it worked great! I dont have a wifi model so i cant say for sure but the dev website says it will!

Interestingly (for me, at least), my Moto S9 BT headset actually works well with the Xoom. In fact, I had pretty much discarded it until I got the Xoom and tried it out. It skips/drops constantly with my Tmobile G2 and with a BT add-on for my ipods and it had the same problem with every Android phone I've tried it with, from the G1 to the MyTouch 3G. The S9 had already been replaced at least once if not twice to see if the skipping would go away but it did not. I'm saying I could not have the phone in my shirt pocket and phones on my ears without it constantly cutting out - really worthless until now.
Rob
works good and just so everyone knows the xooms mic is on the bottom of landscape orientation you have to talk near it to pick up your voice

Increase Speaker/Headphone Volume

It's a pretty common fact now that compared to most other smart phones, the Droid Turbo volume just does not get very loud, in fact it's rather quiet. I'm not looking to blow out my ears, but I'd like to be able to comfortably hear who I'm speaking with on the phone (w/o distortion), and having sufficient (it's at least a few notches lower than my previous iphone 5s) volume through the headphones is absolutely essential for me as the music player is the most important part of the phone for me, aside from call/text. How do I increase the volume? I believe it can be found in the build script, but it seems a little more in-depth than other phones. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

My wife called me the other day. She was so loud that I was able to put it on my lap and both me and my daughter could hear her. I didn't even have to use the speaker phone.
Anyone else?
When there is any sort of natural noise from outside or out in the public, it is noticeably quieter than any smartphone I've had, other than the 2013 moto x, so it seems to be a modern Motorola thing. I know this is an easy fix for someone who is informed. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Nobody has an answer because there is no fix. Root is needed to modify volumes past stock.
Turn off audio effects for headphone. Place speaker grille (not glass) at the middle of your ear when talking. Use custom ringtones for increased volume if the stock ones aren't loud enough.
I personally find it all to be plenty loud.

Could it be the call privacy settings?
Phone -> Settings -> Voice Privacy (mine is set to off)
Settings -> Sound -> Audio Effects (should be off)
I personally think that the phone is too quiet as well.. Definitely doesn't pass the shower test. I should be able to hear my phone playing music over the sound of the shower and the bathroom fan at the same time - I can't.
I went through multiple replacements for this issue. Evidently, the new unit I received (assembled 12/15/14) does not exhibit a volume problem. I think there is an issue with many of the units out in the wild, but it is unclear if there will be/can be a software fix without root. For those with defective devices, no amount of settings changes to the stock software seem to work. I would contact Verizon wile you have the opportunity to do so. Keep in mind, however, that you are opening a can of worms. It might take a few replacements to get one with better volume.

apple earpods isn't working

Apple earpods mic is not wokring on my oneplus 3t...the problem is with the mic. They don't work on calls, where as they are working fine with other devices...im on oreo beta 17...Are there any fixes available? Please let me know...thanks in advance!!!
Edit: a trick worked...move to second page and see the trick explained by @Shashank.446
A good indicator is the fact they are specifically designed for apple iPhones. Those earphones are unique to a phone a person purchased. They aren't plug and play type accessories. You might get them to work as headphones, but if you seriously brought yourself a set of $100+ apple iphone earbuds thinking they'd work 100%. I hope you kept a receipt.

Why in the name of all that is good and holy, would you buy the Airpods, when many reviewers say that it's audio is meh.

Guys, he didn't post "Airpods" (the Bluetooth ones), he posted "earpods" which are the regular wired headphones. I assume the OP has this from a former iPhone. I would expect in that case the buttons don't work properly, but the mic should work. At least that is what typically happens in the case of earpods + Android device. So the OP's question is a valid one.

There's no flashable zip for this kind of purpose, since the system compatibility is required to be changed from AOSP sources. It's just incompatibility between Android and an Apple accessory.

I am having same problem. Upgraded to Oreo yesterday and noticed that my iPhone Earpods aren't working and producing only static noise. Have a Sony wired headset which is working perfectly fine. As I read above posts, looks to be not just with OP 3T, it is Google Oreo as such, which is really bad and annoying. iPhone headphones have noise cancellation microphone feature which is not announced upfront. It helps a lot in taking important calls without surrounding noise. When someone produces a good product, should ensure compatibility and not go against it. Note, it was working till Nougat and not working only on Oreo. Very annoying. Google you are getting bad in terms of attitude, if the message about removal of support from Oreo, is right

Found a work around
My apple earpods dint work too after the Oreo update on my Oneplus 3T (Mic and play/pause controls not working). While i was going through this thread, i was trying to understand what might be causing this behavior. Surprisingly found a work around for this problem.
You need to insert the earpods 3.5mm plug into the mobile headphone jack to a level (except one last click) and hold it there for a second or two, where you can notice the 'headphone with mic' icon pops up on the status bar. Give it a second again and push that one last click in. The headphone, mic and controls, all of them worked as expected, everytime I did this procedure. I've tested it tens of times before posting it here. This trick might work with android Oreo phones other than Oneplus 3T too but i have not checked. Plz do post it here if somebody gets to find out if this trick works for other phones as well.

Pretty sure he was asking whether it's Oreo overall (changes made by Google - regardless of the specific device) that broke the Earpod functionality; or something specifically done by OnePlus in the Oreo update.
