Hi,
I have a brandnew gear and S4on 4.3, both on stock and will all updates performed.
-weather widget on touchwiz homescreen, set on hourly update
-wifi and bluetooth tether on
-lockscreen set to automatic
I read all the posts about this problem and performed al possible solutions like restarting, force close all weather apps, providers and widgets etc etc but it will still only update when I turn the phone on.
Any thoughts?
Try going to gear manager, open my apps, then select apps, click settings on weather, and set auto refresh for 1 hour

Under the phones location services, are you using wifi, gps, both, or is it off?
Do you have any google services frozen, or hibernated at all?

Gps, wifi, bluetooth, bluetooth thethering, automatic lock with gear, widget on homescreen, set two locations and let hem scroll every 30s. Update is set on every hour.
Also did gear, weather provider, weather provider, weather widget and touchwiz reset,
And still the widget is not updating on the phone or watch automaticly.
I couldnt care less about the weather function but I hate it when I cant get something to work.

You do have the stock weather widget on one of the home screens of the phone right? I know with my Note 2 it will not update the widget on the Gear unless I also have the stock weather widget on the phone (I just put it on a screen I dont use)
Ok, nothing worked to get the weather updating on the gear. I tried all possible solutions, even reset phone and gear.
Yesterday i installed the ripped from S5 gear manager(see other topic)....and the weather is now updating like a charm.
And the funny thing is..it works with touchwiz and even with apex launcher...
Edit: sadly it already stopped updating the next morning.
I think I'm having the same problem. I updated my rom on March 9th, and I was initially happy because on my previous rom, I didn't have weather at all. I noticed after three days that the weather wasn't updating at all. It constantly said 27°C and sunny.
I know it is still receiving some information from the phone because when i changed the widget on the phone to display in farenhieght, the unit updated on the watch. Unfortunately, the weather information hasn't updated since March 9th. This is especially odd considering I updated to Null 23 this morning. It must have gotten the weather information from the phone after the new install from a complete wipe, but it only got old information.
The weather is updating just fine on my note 2. Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: I just tried the weather command on S-Voice, and it showed an updated weather list, but when I use the weather widget on the watch, it still shows the weather that hasn't been updated since March 9th.
I had same problem too. I tried almost everything, but no go. Weather does not update. So i think to try kind of extreme. I earlier used on my note 2 this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584533 and there is flashable file called One Stop Shop V5. I don't use that rom any more but i think thats worth to try. I flashed that file, and surprise. Now the weather updates as it should. So this worked on my international Note 2 and it might not work on other models.

Hi, has anyone had trouble with the weather app on the sensationXL,
where ever i go , the location on the home sceen weather app always states my location as the United Kingdom, and NOT the Town?
anyone got any ideas?
Mine is working correctly. Just opened it and for a moment it showed the weather for 'Lincoln' and then reloaded the weather for 'Mablethorpe'. Quite often the weather on the 'News and Weather' app shows 'Sorry Weather Currently Unavailable' but a manual refresh usually cures that.
My old HD Mini did have problems with the location in Mablethorpe, so I had to add it in manually and turn off the 'Current Location' feature, but the SensationXL has so far been faultless.
Refreshed it manually , and its set to refresth 'hourly' , then also tried trying powering down! When it restarts, its back to 'United Kingdom' as location??? besides that very pleased with Sensation XL
Do you know, after reading that I tried to get the HTC Sense page to load (which it still doesn't). One page suggested clearing the cache for HTC Hub and HTC Sense. I tried this, and then noticed that my Weather had set itself to United Kingdom. Aaarrggh! I tried various things which didn't seem to have any effect at all, but the final steps did seem to work.
Remove Weather/Clock widget.
Switch WiFi off.
Check that the settings in Location is set to use WiFi and GPS.
Turn the 'phone off (not restart).
Remove battery.
Wait 2 minutes.
Replace battery.
Switch 'phone on.
Wait 2 minutes.
Add Clock/Weather to screen.
Tick Use Current Location.
If weather location (still) incorrect:
Tap on weather.
Tap on 'more details online'. (This showed the weather for my 'Home' location even though the weather on the home screen was incorrect? I may have set this up earlier, but I don't remember doing so.)
Tap on 'Switch Location'.
Tap 'Add Location'.
Add a location (I used one near to me).
View that location.
Tap on 'Switch Location'.
Go back to your 'Home' location.
View that location.
Exit out of that and back to the weather widget.
Voila! Weather correct!
Don't touch any thing!
Hope it works for you too.
Well! After an hour, it started going back to United Kingdom.
Turning WiFi off seems to help, but it is still very temperamental, often swapping back and forth within a few seconds.
I have to agree with olyoh6696 that it must be something to do with HTC servers and not the 'phone itself.
For the time being I've installed the World Weather widget by Satok that I had on my Sony Arc. That seems stable, though no full screen animations.
Running a XL port, and recently noticed this problem when updating whether
Maybe htc accuweather servers are busy these few weeks with everyone so keen on checking the weather for snow!

united kingdom in weathet widget
Anybody solved this. It's driving me nuts. I've tried several widgets which work properly but I'd like to use HTC one. Shame HTC don't show any interest.
I think its more to do with server problems.
I downloaded several widgets that use AccuWeather, and they all have the same issue.
I don't think its up to HTC to do anything about it.
Contact AccuWeather, and let them know.

had this for about 3 hours the day before yesterday. The only thing i had installed that day was chrome beta.
Uninstalled that, re-installed locations, cleared the data and cache for anything with a name that suggested it could have anything to do with Laputa, weather or any sort of location service, and then rebooted.
been fine ever since. I don't know what helped, but something did.
However, i did notice that when i selected the correct town manually, it was showing the same as the 'United Kingdom' was, so it seems like it was getting the right weather, but it couldn't resolve the correct name.
I suspect that Accuweather have updated their database again, and the htc locations stuff is using an old version. maybe clearing the data on everything and rebooting forced it to update?
I've had to install Fancy Widgets to 'fix' this. It will only work if the Geocoder is set to use GeoNames. If it is set to use Google or Weather Provider it will fail in a similar way to the HTC weather. HTC weather sometimes does work correctly, then sometimes not. Mostly, it seems not.
I wish I could find a simple fix for this, as I really like the HTC clock and weather animations. Perhaps it will be fixed in the ICS update?
Is it easy to uninstall 'Locations'?

My HTC weather and clock widget seems to work fine most of the time. I guess I am one of the few lucky ones. We will wait to see what the ICS update brings.
Do you mean Locations, the app? Have you rooted your phone?
If you have just use any root exploring app (Es File Explorer, Root Explorer etc.) and go to /system/app locate the 'Location.apk' and delete it. You may want to delete Location widget apk too?
Once your phone has rebooted you should be fine. It won't be there anymore.
That's if you mean the Location app

ICS won't fix it. It's at the data provider end rather than being on the phone.
Weather issue fixed
Hi
My weather application stopped updatind after I had unlocked the bootloader.
So I relocked bootloader and flashed stock rom. Weather updates is working all right now.
just installed ICS, weather stuck on United Kingdom.... Anybody any ideas, no amount of force closing and clearing data fixes it.
Turn on GPS and refresh, or wifi.

Hi,
The default weather widget won't update whilst i am connected to my home wi fi.
When i leave the house or turn off the wi fi it updates as it should through my mobile internet.
However, it did work on the wi fi when i first got the phone. Since then i have installed a generic firmware (it still worked after this change_ and since installed the 434 fw from the companion. This is when i noticed the widget would not update.
I have reset my phone but this has not helped. My home wi fi settings have not been changed, but i tried a wi fi reset just incase but this didnt help.
Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it?
Phil.
Weather widget might not be able to get your location using WiFi, if you set the widget to use my location.
Try setting the location in the widget manually.

Thanks for the reply.
I have manuallyset the location because that's the only way I can on this widget.
Since my first post I have tried my phone on another Wi-Fi and found that it doesn't update on this one either. The only wayi can update is by going into the options, changing my location to a different one then setting it back to my current one, which was already manually set.
I am concerned about this, not only because it would be nice to have a working weather widget. I like this one more than others I've downloaded. But it makes me think about what else may not be working properly through Wi-Fi.
Thanks again, Phil.
What weather widget are you using?
I've got Met Office and AccuWeather which both pick up location within the app, but the widget doesn't. They're designed like that though.
Google Now has a widget which updates with your location - worth a try?
The widget is the one called weather that is already on one of the main pages on the new phone. I actually like this widget more than othersi have tried, only because of the graphic. I will look at the ones you have suggested.
I am not bothered about the program knowing my location. This widget doesn't have that option anyway, all I want it to do is update the weather once an hour, at the lication I manually set, which it used to do via Wi-Fi but will now only do through my mobile internet. Also like I said earlier it makes me wonder what else isn't working how it should through the Wi-Fi.
I'm having a similar problem but with Facebook app and Play Store app.
To update anything I have to turn off my wifi on the phone, it is getting annoying.
Did you find a solution?
Cheers Rob

No I never. I had to start using a different weather widget. I haven't noticed it happening with anything else, fingers crossed as I'm still concerned I will have similar problems like you do with other apps
Have you activated Stamina mode?
Stamina may block Weather and other apps from updating.
You can add them as an exemption in Stamina settings.

No I have never enabled stamina mode. I may have fixed it I think by changing the .ini file
I will have to find the link and paste here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216947 # Note I had to edit in notepad on computer then replace .ini back to the phone. Root explorer wouldn't let me save my editing.
Since then I had to edit the build prop to get NFC icon working and used ES File explorer and managed to get that to save my editing on the phone.
Cheers Rob
I looked at my gear watch earlier tonight & the temperature was off by over 10 degrees.
When I clicked on the weather, it hadn't updated in 4 hours. How do you get it to update or refresh more often??
Gear manager, my apps, settings for weather. There you can change the auto refresh.

You need to enable locaction services in your smartphone. Otherwise the weather is not updating, even if you set a fixed location. Don't ask me why, but that's what I found out.
You should not disable (or delete) Weather Widget on your main device. Gear's weather depends on it.

I think it must have been an acuweather problem, this morning it started working fine........
Yes. In the accuweather widget, you can go to update interval and change it to hourly. The default is set up to every six hours I think.

The biggest key, I think, is that you must use one of the native weather widgets on your phone. If not I don't think an auto update will take place regardless of your other settings.
I could be wrong though.

Hello all, over the last 2-3 days when installing apps with known widgets they aren't showing up so you can select and add. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and nothing. If I restart the device then the widget will show up to add. Another odd thing is when the app is uninstalled the widget is showing up to add. The app is uninstalled and this is happening. I try to add the widget to see what it does and it creates the little Android. If you long press to add the widget to the home screen it gives a meassgae that reads "Create Widget and Allow Access? After you create widget, Google app can access all data it disolays. Always allow Google Apps to create widgets and access their data with a check box. There are also cancel and delete options. They both don't do anything. If you check the box and select create it brings you back to the widget select area. Device is stock. No recent apps aside from one bad weather app. Any ideas? This is a new issue aside from the early shutdown before 0% battery. First it was 2% 15% and now 18% tonight. Disappointing for a $650 device. Thanks!
I didn't understand, actually what are you talking about?
Sorry, I realize it may be confusing. It seems to be unusual. I've attached a screenshot of what shows then you try add a widget that is from an app that is uninstalled. There should not be a widget listed in the listing to add when an app is uninstalled . Now the initial issue is when an app is installed that offers a widget I'm not seeing it in the widget listing area. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled and widget still doesn't show in list. If I reboot the phone then I usually see the widget. Very odd! Any thoughts?
Having this problem too. Just added CurrentWidget and its not showing under "add widget". Restarted and the widgets there. Stock 5.1
I have the same problem , you have to reboot phone after adding widgets each time

Yeah, there are others with the same issue. For sure seems like an operating system bug. 5.1 update did not fix it. It just started a few week ago. I wonder if it has something to do with the stock launcher.
I've always thought that was the norm, but others feel it is a bug.
Try restarting system UI after install instead of a reboot and I'm told that should accomplish the same thing for you to see the new widgets in the list.
Are you guys using the standard Google launcher? I have never seen this issue but run Apex or Nova

So I'm trying to get the weather app on my LG Urbane working, but no luck. Every time I open the weather app on my watch, it just shows "Android wear could not retrieve weather, check your connection and try again" and at the same time, on my phone it displays a "Android Wear has stopped" message. So it's not because they're not connected, as they are and everything else works, and the Android Wear has stopped message would not appear exactly as I click weather on my watch if they weren't connected anyway.
I don't really care for the app itself as I could use another weather app like Weather Timeline, but without the native weather app, I cant see weather on my watchface.
Any suggestions appreciated.

If anyone's having this problem, figured it out. Seems its because my phone can't get a gps lock, weather doesn't work. I was trying it indoors, once I got outisde, got a gps lock and tried it, it worked perfectly.
Same here.
