Wifi stuck (in between on and off) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, the wifi doesn't turn on. Well, it doesn't turn off either. Sometimes all of a sudden it'll start working but most of the time this happens.
Pic attached. Any help?

Same problem for me

A quick solution would be to just turn airplane mode on and then turn it off (power button -> airplane mode). Otherwise a reflash of the ROM will fix it.

Factory reset.
Else reflash your phone firmware. Is it network locked?

i have similar problems... Airplane mode does not fix it for me (though sometimes AP mode does, for a while). Reboot is not guaranteed to fix , flashed stock 2.3, stock 4.x, stock 4.1.2, custom roms.. you name it.
I'm now waiting for another battery.

Trying to Stop Cell Standby

So I was looking at the settings.db with the sql3 lite editor and came across this: Line 59 mobile_data value 1. However, I'm constantly in airplane mode and only turn on wifi and bluetooth as needed.
Is it possible that this line is the controlling factor to keep the Streak from turning on the mobile radio? Would setting this to value=0 stop cell standby?
I'm a little afraid to tamper with it since I don't know what it means - does anyone more knowledgeable than I know what this line controls?
A app called juice defender offers that option

Not actually - I installed juice defender but mobile_data still has a value of 1. And cell standby still is showing at 88%!!!
I also had this huge battery drain to cell standby (on the wifi only model...)
trying to flash the Honeystreak, and see if this changes (and to try out HC too hehe!)

Not on the stock ROM. I have it and the cell controls only work with certain custom ROMs.

Okay, that makes sense. I was using that for awhile on the stock, and noticed no difference. Uninstalled it a week later.
Will try to test it out on streakdroid once I get back onto a working rom (fell into the BSOD of Honeystreak B3)

Just keep airplane mode (Setttings>Wireless) on all the time - no need to ever turn it off since there really is no phone in this tablet.

That doesn't stop the phone modem. If you check the settings you will see that the device is still picking up signal from the cell towers. It just isn't connecting with the mobile network.

I don't think that is doing anything more than the existing settings. The S7 already allows one to turn on WiFi during airplane mode. Earlier android versions did not allow this.

I finally was able to disable "cell standby" by the following procedure (for reference see the following in the Acer Iconia 500 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...t=cell+standby )
Using "Bloat Freezer" freeze phone.apk (the instant this is done, it will force close - just hold the power button until it shuts off ) - this will only happen once. Then using "Bloat Freezer" freeze telephony.providers.apk - this doesn't force close. Reboot once more and viola! no more cell standby. I also noticed in the notification area at the top a new icon - it's 4 bars with an x over the lowest bar. It's like when you turn a cellphone on airplane mode - same type of icon.
Also, I had airplane mode enabled (I always have that) and now the little airplane no longer shows up - I guess it's been replaced by the "bars with x" icon. WiFi still works as well as it did before.
To me, this indicates that mobile data is off but maybe someone more knowledgable can give a better explanation.

IDK why the link is invalid but here's the process:

But this won't work on a stock DS7, which is where I'd like to shut Cell Standby

Unlock Droid every morning?

Is there a way that my phone can automatically restart around say.... 6am and then require a password/pin/pattern to unlock it for the first time?
Thank you mucho. =)
Buuuuuuump.

If you set your phone into airplane mode there is a bug that will restart the phone about 8 hours later. then, you are forced to enter your pin again after turning airplane mode off.
I think you could use either tasker or settings profiles, both paid apps in market. Settings profiles has a free lite version to try as well.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Ah thank you very much. I might pick up tasker then. And what version of android has the airplane mode bug? I have ICS right now.

Let me know if you get tasker to work, you will also have to get locale and the locale execute plugin since tasker actually doesn't have a reboot option. I've got everything necessary but couldn't get it to work.

[Q] How to disable"Screen always on while charging"?

Hello,
Very stupid thing... I have no idea how but I have enabled the Screen always on while charging feature because, that's what happens.
The problem is I'm on stock LRG Rom and there is no option on developer section, in settings.
How do I disable this? Pretty annoying.
Thanks

It should turn it off automatically after 30s, like I've defined in settings. And it does when NOT charging. When charging is always on...

I left my phone on while charging, so I just press the off button once to turn off the screen. Hopefully it will solve your problem

It solves... temporarily. Whenever the screen turn on (battery charged notification, sms notification, etc) it won't go off again. This is a problem if I leave it charge during the night (like it happened last night).

I said "stock LRG Rom" just with root, and also said " there is no option on developer section". I know that some Roms have this option, but not this one. Have no idea how I have enable the option that is not available in the UI.
Is this any option in some config file where I can check (as said, I have root).
I saw somewhere that clearing cache processes(Ram) does the job.. But I dunn remember properly. Maybe u should give it try....

First of all, wipe cache and dalvik in cwm recovery, if problem remains, wipe data/factory reset (wipe cache and dalvik too). This should definetely solve the problem, if you are using stock rom.

WiFi keeps turning on at random times

I am having an issue where my WiFi will randomly turn itself on. I turn it back off and it will turn itself back on again. This is very annoying to say the least.
I am running Meanpop V 2.15.
Anyone have any ideas?

Flash the kernel again or a different kernel when the issue is not solved. Be sure the kernel/rom is not corrupt.
