While I realize it is relatively few to SPH-L720, I wanted to make a thread specific for the update ending with NAF for the triband variant,
the SPH-L720T.
While you may argue there is already a thread for the update, most of the userss are L720 not L720T, so the questions from L720T users keep getting drown out by others.
First order of business, though it has been asked but it has gotten no reply that I am aware of, has anyone gotten the OTA for the triband variant?
If so, can it be uploaded and distributed? It will be interesting to see if all the problems such as the sd card and rooting are the same.
I have the "T" model, and no OTA for me thus far.
I have rooted and installed some xPosed apps, but no custom recovery or rom. I'm hoping for 4.4.2 this week or so

I also have a 720T and haven't received notification of the update. I actually kind of regret my purchase of the 720T. I waited about a month to buy the 720T instead of the 720 because I figured I might as well "future proof" my purchase, but it seems most of the 720 mods and such don't work on the 720T. And with the S5 coming out, I think we'll be left in the dust. (I hope I'm wrong. My last phone was the original Evo and I loved how many different mods/roms/etc that had.)

(I left off my last paragraph, oops) I'm sure we'll have the same issues with SD Cards since it's part of the new Android standard (or, newly enforced, at least) and root exploits would normally be fixed independent of the radios.
It's crazy that I haven't heard a single person on the 720T getting the update yet... has anyone done the google services framework clearing thing yet? I know it jacks stuff up but I'm thinking of trying it soon.
i tried it. no luck.
GOOD NEWS!
Following the advice hhere: http://www.androidcoliseum.com/2013/01/how-to-get-your-ota-update-faster.html
I got the update after the 5th try. If someone will help me to know where to find it on my phone I will upload it. It's 401.2 MB.
Yay! My phone is rooted ... and I have a custom recovery .... so the update may not work....but here's hoping!
Bleck my phone is at 18% so I have to charge it to be able to even try.
Found the file will be uploading soon

swipe over to the "All" category
scroll down for Google Services Framework and click it
click "clear cache" and "clear data"
hit home
go into your dialer
type in: *#*#2432546#*#*
wait for the notification "checkin succeeded"
Now go and try checking for your update.
Just go to the application manager, clear the data for the google services framework, go to dialer to type in *#*#2432546#*#*, check for update, repeat.... I've got the file about 50% uploaded

Thanks but I'm good now. Hey if anyone has problems installing it that rooted it and used the xposed app, you have to flash the xposed disabler in the root directory with a custom recovery, that fixed it for me. Finally, got my kitkat!
Crap, stuck at Sprint Spark Screen... getting Set Perm: Some changes failed
So I dont think its compelting so I'm getting stuck at the sprint spark screen
Well Im just going to go ahead and do a total factory reset and flash all stock firmware...I mean it sucks, but I've only had my phone for two weeks so not a ton of data I'm going to lose...
I uninstalled the Xposed framework from within Xposed, and it seemed to work. I just can not get the OTA to re-download now.

UPDATE: My hosting I had for XDA related work expired, so I re-uploaded everything here: http://www.mods4cars.com/pub/xda
Here's the new Verizon OTA packaged up as a full CWM flashable ROM. Wiping should not be necessary if you are coming from our last ICS ROM (LP10).
This is meant for those who have CWM installed and for those who modified their system to the point that the OTA does not work because it expects certain files.
If you are on full stock (rooted) ICS LP10 and are not getting the OTA update the regular way, you can look here for a way to manually install it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932597&page=26
The rom is pre-rooted. After installing, run super-su and let it check for binary updates. Also a cached copy of su for restoring with Voodoo OTA rootkeeper is included (for extra safety).
Part1: The ROM
Install with CWM
http://electron73.org/XDA/i815/electron_ICS-LP11_i815.zip
Part2: The MODEM
Flash with ODIN in PHONE section
http://electron73.org/XDA/i815/electron_ICS-LP11_i815_modem.tar
Part3 (optional): Stock Recovery
If you want to be full stock afterwards, flash with ODIN in PDA section
http://electron73.org/XDA/i815/electron_ICS-LP11_i815_recovery.tar
Part4 (optional): Stock SBL
If you did all 3 parts above and want to be able to receive future Verizon OTA's flash this in ODIN in BOOTLOADER section

Enjoy

Did you have lots of apps installed? I just realized it's doing a run_program("/tmp/fsck.ext4", "-Dfy", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p10");
on the data partition. If that partition is full with lots of files then the check might take a while. The status bar doesn't move while this command is executing. I never tried it on a "full" partition! A freshly wiped data partition is checked in 2 seconds

Yeah, I had about 100 apps installed. In any case, I tried it again through CWM. When it did the check this time, it took about 10 secs. So the first one must've been a hiccup or something. I was able to flash ROM and then radios through ODIN, so I think I'm good. I looked at the files on the internal storage and the SD card and they are still there, so I'm assuming that I'm good. Anything else to check or are there any log files that you want me to try to grab for you? Thanks again.

If you want, go check in the /cache dir for any log files left by CWM, maybe there's something in there.

Also, regarding the current ROM, I really curious about the supposed batt life increases. My tab at this point is barely getting 4-5 hours screen time with it set fairly dim. Is that normal or should I be getting more that that? I don't suppose that a ROM update will help with screen time much, but just curious to hear what others are getting.
Update was painless

I have never tried TWRP on this tab. What's the current version for our i815? Does it work well? I assume just like CWM it doesn't accept stock OTAs though, does it?

It was hard to flash (the apk method didn't work, I had to use Odin -- which really is no big deal, just scary for some). In any event, I'm running 2.3.10 available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809295

Because it's on general section and It's information that should be available to all.
The thread you referring to is exclusively for 720T so I asked the question there first but since no one responded I searched and I thought It would be useful to let know the others on the thread!!
If the information about 4.4.2 update thread is already there provide the link.
Before posting I searched and wasn't able to find any OTA info.
So remove threads and pardon my ignorance but my intent was to help!!!
I really do think it is about time to add a SPH-L720T section, it is already quite difficult to find post about this phone, they are mixed in with the standard SPH-720.
Anyone agree?
I wouldn't mind a subform.....It is hard, but a little reading and searching will get you to where you need.

Awesome "Samsung Experience"
I hadn't noticed until last night that since I got this (NC6) update on my phone, that several things were screwed up. Namely, the Hotspot Toggle was gone from the "Connections" settings tab, Sprint Zone was replaced by something called Mobile Zone that always errored out when you tried to open it. And lastly, the Tethering and Roaming settings were completely missing - as in gone, as in not there. After much frustration I tried a factory reset, but to no avail. Nothing changed. Same problems. On a whim, I decided to see what the guys at the Samsung Experience at Best Buy could do for me. I was pleasantly surprised to be helped by a sharp, knowledgeable guy who really knew his stuff. He was a fellow geek and was familiar with XDA and all the ins and outs of Samsung/Android phones. He did not have the NC6 version available to flash, but he did have NAF (KitKat update). So he flashed NAF to my phone with Samsung's SMART firmware tool (a glorified Kies that I would love to have access to!). And unlike going to the Sprint store, I didn't have to wait 30 minutes to be helped and my phone didn't disappear to the back room for another 30 minutes to be abused and mishandled by an overworked and probably under-trained and underpaid sprint employee. I stood right there beside the guy at his laptop while he showed me the software and flashing process. Totally awesome!
This fixed all the above issues plus another interesting thing too. Some of you are probably familiar with a little quirk in the S4 (and S3 too) in the stock recovery - when you reboot, it would show "Error!" under the little android robot. This always bugged me because I knew it shouldn't do that. Well my newly flashed S4 no longer says "Error!" when you reboot from recovery. I have no idea why it did it before or what changed to make it go away, but I feel better now that it's gone. It's probably major placebo effect but my phone seems snappier and smoother than ever.
So to make a long story short, "Samsung Experience" is totally awesome compared to going to the Sprint store. I will be going back when they get the NC6 (and possibly every future update as well) to have it flashed properly to my phone. I know I probably could have done the same thing myself with Odin and the firmware packages from Sammobile.com, but having them do it makes them responsible if anything goes wrong. And since I'm still under warranty, I don't want to do anything to void my warranty.
Amazing when things actually work the way they're supposed to...
Upon further investigation, it looks like I actually can re-initialize my phone using Kies now. I had tried doing it before going to the Samsung place at Best Buy, but when I tried the "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization", it said is was unsupported or something to that effect. That was because I already had NC6 on my phone, which wasn't available in Kies yet - just like even the Samsung guys didn't have it yet. But now that I have NAF, when I try "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" it does give me the option to actually do it. The message says it will delete all user data and write the current software to the device - which is what I think they did for me at Best Buy. Only Kies couldn't load NAF for me while I had NC6 on my phone. So once NC6 makes it to Kies (if it ever does) I should be able to do a pristine flash using Kies instead of going to Best Buy if my phone starts acting up again.
You guys probably know all of this already, but I'm still learning...

No, you CAN'T. That was my original problem. Kies still thinks NAF is the latest version so it can't do anything with NC6 - it doesn't recognize it as the latest verstion - in fact it doesn't know NC6 exists at all. It will only initialize with what it thinks is the latest version. But since I have NAF now, Kies can do the full initialization with NAF. Like if I ever hosed my phone while it had NAF, I could fix it by doing a clean flash of NAF with Kies. And eventually I would think NC6 would become available in Kies. Then you should be able to do a clean flash of NC6 using Kies too.

No I didn't. I thought about it, and it probably would have worked, but everything I read said that would trip the Knox warranty flag. However now that I see the Samsung guy was able to do it - and it DIDN'T trip the Knox flag - I checked afterwards. And I even asked him if it would before he flashed my phone. So assuming the Samsung SMART firmware tool uses Odin at it's core, maybe I could have done it myself and not tripped the Knox flag. Or maybe the Samsung software has something that Odin doesn't that keeps it from tripping Knox. I just didn't want to use my phone as a guinea pig to prove or disprove whether or not downgrading firmware would trip Knox. Again, everything I read indicated that even flashing official Knox-enabled firmware that was a lower version than what was currently on the device would trip Knox.
My phone has downloaded this update automatically, and when it boots into stock recovery gives me an Error and aborted message. I'm assuming that's because I am stock rooted. So, can I download the zip and flash it myself through recovery? I honestly don't recall what recovery I'm running. It's been a couple months, and as a recovering flashaholic, I haven't gone beyond stock. I only wanted root to get rid of the bloat.

So, can I download the zip and flash it myself through recovery? I honestly don't recall what recovery I'm running. It's been a couple months, and as a recovering flashaholic, I haven't gone beyond stock. I only wanted root to get rid of the bloat.

You have to completely be unmodified. I think root has not stopped it, but you'll likely lose it afterwards. If you stripped the Rom, themed, or installed a custom recovery, you have to revert back to stock.

i believe you can re-root once you take the update.
Mine has yet to get the update. Anyone have the NC6 zip up?
I'm gonna just cut to the chase here, I've already looked at the forums and searched and all that.
Phone has been fine for about 3 weeks, since I got it, and all of a sudden it froze up on me and gave me the error "Process System Isn't responding" and of course with the 'wait' and 'ok' options. Phone does work fine except for the active display will not work and every time I unlock the phone it tells me that it crashed. I get random app crashes at random times as well. And my wifi is stuck in a permanent 'turning wifi on...' phase so I'm forced to use my 4g. I have tried all the suggestions that are possbile for the model of the Moto X that I have but nothing will work. Multiple factory resets, cahce wipes, everything. I've even tried flashing a stock rom to the phone via fastboot, didn't think it would work as I am on 4.4.2 AT&T version of the Moto X, and of course it didn't. Has anyone had the same problem, or found a workaround that actually works?
Well....it seems you're only option is flashing the 4.4.2 files for your phone. And if they aren't available....you probably have to play the waiting game unfortunately.
Are you rooted?? I would say if you're rooted, xposed or something that has changed system files is the culprit. But if you're not rooted....then who knows.
Good luck!!
P.s. never try to downgrade. You're lucky you got an error.....cause sometimes you get a brick.

Not rooted, everything is completely stock, I did try flashing the 4.4.2 files to my phone, but can't get system.img to write, tried just flashing the update as a zip but wouldn't work because of something like the update-version wasnt found in the zip file... If only I had root, this would be a lot easier...
Edit: Would you be able to point me to the AT&T files? I did find firmware but that won't flash for some reason.

I'm not sure where to get at&t files...there's a site that has them all...but I can't think of it.
And this guide has a return to stock section. Make sure you did it right. You do need to use mfastboot. Fastboot won't work on the bigger files.

Thanks for all the help, hopefully everything works.
Edit: Used the toolkit to flash the 4.4.2 update. I guess it just didn't like the way I was trying to do it before. Everything works again though, and hopefully it stays that way.
Now I get to go through the process of restoring all of my files.
Hey guys, I am having some problems going from JDX down to a 5.1 ROM. I cannot get data on any of the ROMS I am trying.
I have tried to download a few radios seperate and flash them at the start, or after the fact and still nothing. I also manually went to the apn to set it up but the correct one is already there and that didn't work.
Is there something I need to flash to make it work correctly? I'm stumped!
thanks!

Did you check and make sure the bootloader was configured correctly? I don't know if it even changes it, I will see what mine says. If you have to downdrage it, you will have to search further, I don't know how to do that on this particular phone
Read this http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/06/15/5-reasons-to-skip-android-m-beta-preview/
Downgrading is a Hassle
If you do decide to try the Android M beta release, you’ll have to completely erase your entire device and start over from a fresh install of Android. Users will need to backup apps and pictures, transfer all their data, re-download everything and set of the device the way they’d like. Then, if you decide you want to go back to Android 5 Lollipop, users will need to erase the device and do this all over again. It can be quite the hassle, time consuming, and frustrating for those new to Android, or aren’t used to doing this often.
Here is a youtube vid on how to downgrahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TazsmCuA5Cwde
BL moto-apg8084-71.08 (sha-32b8854, then the date it was made
baseband d4.0-9625-02.95
product variant shamu xt1103 32gb p3a0
cpu apq8084 esi.1
That's what mine says, and your issue does sound like the BL got changed
Sorry I'm not more help, but that's what comes to mind rightaway
wow thank you do much for replying. That is what I thought too. I had 0 problems before with any ROM then I decided to try the JDX M preview ROM and since then going back hasn't worked.
I tried to download several bootloaders and radios and flashing them and using the toolkit to flash them. No luck I will watch that video and read that post and see if it helps me any.
Again, thank you!
so I downloaded it his way and flashed it his way and I still get no data.

You flashed the stock RUU? right? you should have gone to a google page that had the stock roms in them, it had links as well on the YT link I gave you, try again, I watched the vid and the maker was talking pretty fast, if you still have issues DL teamviewer to your computer and I will get on your puter and help ya out
lol, downgrading the bootloader will do nothing. im on m, with the m bootloader, and have hone to 5.1.1 a few times. always keeping my m bootliader.
if your apn is 100% correct, id just boot up, and eventually youll catch the signal, as long as its not disabled, or data isnt disabled.
of course, your sim card cohld have gone bad. they do die every now and then.

Hi Hi sorry for the delayted response.
Basically for whatever reason no CM ROMS would work at all. I tried some AOSP ones and they are completely fine and have no problems with them.
I Downloaded ROM Manager and will give a look into other CM ROMs in a little while to see if it works.
Thanks so much for all the help!

How do you like M? I was thinking about giving it a twirl, decided to wait until the bugs were gone, and it's more refined
Prerequisites:
Odin 3.11.1- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
5.1.1- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53454972&postcount=1 (Use first link for OI5)
Kies- http://www.samsung.com/in/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/ (To backup data. Use Kies 3)
Samsung USB Driver- http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117
NOTICE: Do not use this guide to downgrade from OC4 and above to NCE, you will brick your device. Only use this guide to downgrade to compatible firmware's for example: PA3 to OI5, PA2 to PA1, etc..Do not attempt to downgrade back to OC4 as ATT blew a qfuse. You can only downgrade to OF2 and above. This may brick your device and I am not liable. This does not trip the KNOX flag. This will wipe all data so do keep a backup.
Download the firmware you want for example OI5 from the link above. Extract the file to a directory. Then launch Odin and go into the extracted file. Select CP,CSC, and AP(PDA on Odin 3.9 and below). Do not select the BL slot. I repeat do not select the BL slot, only use AP,CP, and CSC. Also in the options tab select only Auto Restart and F. Reset Time. Turn off your phone and hold power button, home button, and volume down button. Then once it says flashing a custom firmware may..., press the volume up button. Then plug in your phone and you should see blue, if you see yellow install the USB drivers. Once you have plugged it in and the correct files are selected, press Start. This process will take about 5-10 minutes depending on the speed of the USB. Do not unplug the cable while in this process. Once it says PASS at the top, the phone will boot into recovery mode and apply the update. Once the phone has applied the update, it will reboot and be stuck at the AT&T logo. Do not panic, this just means that it is working on the operating system. This will take about 5-6 minutes. Once this is done proceed to setup the phone as usual going through the entire setup. Once the setup, is finished you can then restore your data using Kies if you had a backup. You have now successfully downgraded your phone. This process could be used to root our devices because we are exposing security holes that have been patched.
I just want to go from PA3 to.... whichever one will allow root access. Warranty possibly needed. I need to make sure this will work because.. otherwise.. my sister's phone could blow a fuse (****ing boot loaders..) and go dead.. if i can get around the warranty flag then that would be awesome. Sorry.. just not sure how to handle it; can't find people who are reliable and say it can actually downgrade without bricking.

Your best option would be to downgrade to OI5, which the link is provided in the OP. Downgrade, and then try rooting with Kingroot. The vulnerability which works is CVE 2015-1805. Otherwise if Kingroot doesn't work for you you could try iovyroot, but that needs an absolute kernel address. Try searching on Github for CVE 2015-1805 . Sorry can't post links, I am a new user.

Kingroot/KingOroot was what I was about to try. I'll grab OI5, maybe just the kernel, hopefully? .. I just hate removing it, and not with SuperSUme .. never worked for me. When it comes to Kingroot, I just would rather remove it manually, I guess.. plus SuperSUme didn't work on my tablet when I tried to use it heh. There's a post somewhere with instructions but all you do is just keep a daemon running while you uninstall and then install the other, while partially keeping root before it gets the binary and updates from SuperSU.
Will post results when I can. I dont want to downgrade the entire thing if i can quickly avoid it.

^ You can say it; even a post on here has it. It looks very promising. I downloaded OI5 but didn't get a chance to flash, will tonight or tomorrow.
The following could not find a known exploit for the specific OS.. Failed with the following: Kingoroot, Kingroot, and vRoot (aka iRoot) .. then I checked here to give updates .. and upon re-reading your post.. I noticed you also put iovyroot, made from an exploit based on CVE-2015-1805, as the post says. It looks EXACTLY like saferoot lol.. I can deal with temporary root, I'll take care of the rest to make sure it stays.. I'll be giving more updates. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.. Did you make any progress on this? I just rolled back to OI5. Now I need to figure out how to get the correct address and compile that code.
So, I just got this 900a AT&T phone and it already has 5.1.1 installed, which already hasent the mega locked down bootloader, correct? Everywhere else I've looked for a root method has said you CAN'T downgrade. I don't know much about downgrading or what version I can downgrade to. Can I get a bit of help or explanation?

You can't downgrade back to 4.4.2 once you are above 5.0 . This method explained in the OP is to only downgrade back to OI5, and possibly OC4. Not NCE.
Do I go by baseband or build number?
because my baseband is OC4 but my build is OF3.

Ugh it was forced through to PA4.... unbelievable. I don't know if I can roll back to OI5 with PA4. She always wants her phone back right away.. I'm sorry about the lack of time in between responses, but I have to back up her crap anyway one way or another if I'm rolling back. I wanted to try and just roll back the kernel and then give kingroot and shot. An RCA Tablet that I got about 8 months ago for $35 at Walmart wasn't able to be rooted for the longest time since it came with LP 5.0.1.. I finally was able to root that.
I think I'm the first to do it. Voyager Pro. I use FlashFire with recovery for it.. sorry, off topic.. but that exploit was very useful in that instant.
I will see what I can do to roll back.. my life is literally a mess. I don't want a bunch of people saying poor pr3dicament or some stupid ****. Oral cancer, early. Cutting it out... and then (more) awful pain after that. Second recurrence. Didn't spread. Procedure tomorrow. I'll just grab her phone and say I am fixing a bug for security or something to make sure she shuts the **** up about it. No guarantees. If I can roll back from PA3 or PA4 to OI5.. not sure if another went through.. I think it did. .. but if I can roll back to OI5 with no problems or even just the kernel to root it... even temporary root.. full root.. I have a few current binaries that it'll work with.
I temporarily rooted the RCA and now it's fully rooted with the binary I use in place... I am probably going to just write a script to make it easier if it works. Again, my apologies for the length between responses.

Yeah... the kernel is all we need... after that, we can get in.. almost positive on that. Please remember that this isn't even my phone I'm talking about. My sister is a little stupid and just acts like she can't let me have it for a few minutes.. I will take your vouch and go for the kernel only.
I might be looking to do this very shortly, but here's how it was done with Odin.. not sure if it'll give the same result nowadays. It should.. it's an extraction. I didn't look through the entire process, I've been very busy, but from what I remember.. you download a stock rom and use 7zip or WinRAR and extract boot.img and convert to .tar for ODIN, place it in PDA/AP (Depends on version of Odin)
If this does NOT work, please do NOT be surprised and do NOT claim responsibility for the above. That is just what I remember doing not too long ago for S4 debugging. I know this is an S5.. so.. grab the OI5 zip/tar and extract it, then find boot.img and convert it to .tar. If you screw your phone up.. it's not my fault. That's all I can do at the moment.. Her phone is on her right now, so.. just trying to help. If this is incorrect or wrong, my apologies. There's some youtube video where it kind of shows you if you don't understand... the guy is hard to understand so turn up your volume:

Yeah... I thought maybe converting boot.img to boot.tar etc would work or something.. usually people mean boot when they say kernel, and kernel when they mean boot. There's many levels of booting, and that's why I just posted that youtube video in there. I did that a long time ago but this was before sbl1, 2, 3 (etc) ... so really i dont have an idea. I do know that you can roll back though.
If you get no response, I'll try asking. I hope I was correct.. I do not want to be seen as illiterate..
eh forget it lol if you get a response from him that is similar to mine than that'd be great. I actually want you to confirm that with him or any other developers before moving forward with a simple kernel downgrade because that could potentially cause trouble.

For the record.. When I used iovyroot via adb the other night, before PA4... It wasn't happy that it was "64 bit" but I can't believe I missed that.. it was right in front of me and I just did not see it. I am so so pissed.
