I'm using a case from Numbi: Schutzhülle HTC Desire 816 Hülle (harte Rückseite) matt schwarz
Sorry, dont have english link.
Sry cant post link due to xda forum not allowing. ( <10 posts....)
Looks pretty nice, fits good, kind of faint backside, in my opinion feels better than slushy backside of phone. Grey one looks perfect in it. And only 6€

I would recommend the generic silicon case. Looks nice and does the job (use it for my current phone)
Hi,
I've got the MOONCASE case: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00MB0ETRM/
The description says: "Slim Side Flip Leather Pouch Stand Case Cover For HTC Desire 816 Black"
Now .. it's not leather. It's plastic.
The case feels a bit cheap, but is a good fit for the phone and overall for the price (6 GBP), I'm quite happy with it.

I am looking for a rugged case...
Any suggestions please
I have checked everywhere and haven't found anything

Case for Belt
I bought a cheap case for the iphone 6 plus for putting on my belt. The two phones are almost the same size. The 816 is .05" shorter, .04" wider, and .03" thicker than the iphone 6+. The case will work well when I want a little more protection than my pocket.

I bought the original HTC flip case for the Desire 816. This is the only case that I've found that leaves the power/ volume controls uncovered with the case closed. It also has cut-outs for both speakers. So I can close the case and still use the controls and listen to music. Opening the case also switches on the display. Because HTC put the power and volume controls on the left side, most cases cover them. Has anybody found cases that don't cover the controls or speakers when they're closed?
The ones listed in this thread should all have the cutouts for the buttons

I personally love the skin I have on my device. It doesn't make it any thicker, or larger (which with the size of this phone can be a hassle). It's a carbon fiber skin from Skinomi, and it works really well. If you drop it, the skin gets scuffed instead of your expensive phone, which is the main reason I bought it. Plus it covers up the ugly plastic back of the phone, which frankly ruins an otherwise beautiful device.

As you can see it looks a tad weird on the white device, but on my black one it looks awesome, and it probably will on other darker colors. The cuts are awesome, and it makes the phone feel a lot better in the hand. At first I bought it just to put the back plate on, but ended up applying the whole thing.
You can buy it here, for pretty cheap, and I think its worth it. First time I ever used a skin on a phone, but I'll probably never buy a case again, because this provides the same amount of protection, aside from maybe an Otterbox, or life proof, but those are inconveniently huge and are meant for like, hikers and people who need it.
BTW, I'm not like advertising this skin, I just bought it and really liked it, so thought I'd share.

Skinomi's lifetime replacement warranty is another plus for FoxyDrew's recommendation. The quality is second to none but their warranty is what takes the cake.
I sent them an email asking if a screen protector my son had would qualify for the warranty. I truthfully told them the scratches were totally my son's fault and had nothing to do with the quality of their skin.
They replied telling me not to worry, and that they would be sending me a replacement ASAP.
Skinomi is a top notch company that stands by their product.

Seriously, go with the Otterbox. They have always made the best cases. Yes, it's a lot more expensive, but what is your new phone worth to you? Otterbox makes some of the best cases, hands down. And my opinion comes only from experience.

Yeah, I'm interested in getting the Commuter. Plus, the fact that it has the protruding button for the power button looks like a plus for me! I sometimes have trouble pressing that button...
i want to get the commuter as well, i am waiting on review from you guys... well and also waiting to see how the OEM hardshell will look like as well.
can you guys comment on how much FATTER the Otterbox cases make your phones?
I'm curious about the Commuter in particular as its smaller, but Defender specs are fine too.
I know Otterbox makes great cases, but I also like slim. I don't plan on dropping my phone left and right more like to protect my phone in my pocket from change/keys/etc.
I'm curious because I have a friend with an iPod touch 4G like me and we both have cases. I have a hard InCase slider case. I know they make sleek (yet $$$$) cases. The protection may not be 100% in a drop, but it conforms to the body perfectly, which is all I need. I recognize her Otterbox is probably better protection but it makes her iPod Touch look fat as hell.
I'll have something for you guys by monday or tuesday at the latest.

Awesome! Thanks!
USPS didn't deliver because no one was here to sign. It might take an extra day or two for me to get something up here for you guys. Just letting you know.
I just got my Otterbox Commuter today! I already had a screen protector on, so can't comment on the one that came with the Commuter.
However, overall first impressions are pretty good. It was extremely easy to install, but still feels very secure on the phone. It fits very nicely, with all the ports covered by silicone flaps. The power button and volume rocker have silicone rubber on top of them as well, so that they're still easy to press. There are small holes cut out of the top and bottom for the tiny (docking?) holes that the Inc S has.
My main concern before buying the Commuter was bulk, as I'm sure a lot of you are concerned about as well. Good news! It feels a lot more compact in my hand than I was expecting..doesn't feel very significantly thicker, but seems to feel a bit wider. It still looks fairly svelte, although it seems the vacuum-packed look of the Inc S's back cover is slightly reduced.
I measured the new dimensions, and it's about 1.75 cm thick, 6.8 cm wide (excluding the volume rocker), and 12.4 cm tall (excluding the power button). I didn't measure the phone beforehand, but htc.com lists it as 1.17cm x 6.4cm x 12.0cm. I guess my gut feel of it being much wider was a bit off.
Weight-wise, it's definitely heavier, but not terribly so.
One con that I've noticed is that the hard back is slightly slippery, as others have pointed out. I haven't felt like it's about to slide out of my hand when holding it normally, but the phone does feel significantly more slippery when manipulating it by holding its sides alone. (Not sure if that's clear, but I used to set my phone down on the table by gripping the lower 1/3 of the phone with two or three fingers and putting it down. It's harder to do now, and I've had to adjust the way I grip it.)
Another downside is that the silicone bits covering the top and bottom of the phone aren't covered by the hard plastic. This means that dust and lint stick to the top and bottom like glue, and also means that the top and bottom can be easily pried away from the phone, creating an area that would potentially trap dust and debris. Not sure if that'll become an issue.
Alright, that's my 2 cents! Overall, I'm very happy with it..I've yet to see how effective its impact protection is, but hopefully that's something I won't have to test out for a while
Edit: Whoops, my phone just popped out of my hand..happened when I was holding it with my left hand and tried to use my thumb to reach up and press an icon in the upper right corner. Managed to catch it in midair though. Phew. But still..that was a bit more slippery than I expected.
Thanks for the review nitroshockwave! Any chance of posting some pictures? Especially the top/bottom that you mentioned about not being covered by plastic? I'm a little curious/confused about that one.
Again, thanks so much!! I'm still undecided if I should buy it...

2. Original htc desire c case black
Both original case's cost between £8-£12 from amazon & eBay - quality very good
3. S-line clear & black tpu
prices vary between £1.50 to £3 from eBay & amazon - quality medium
4. Bourbon slip case (my fav biscuit)
Price is about £5 - quality good
I also have 2 raindrop hard cases, but don't know where I put them
Look forward to seeing other user's cases.
Spider web casing looks good, I want one. ;D
I like the contrast shown between the white HTC Desire C and black web cover!
My Desire C is protected by a Rock quicksand. Nice fit.
Hey I have number 3 on my black Desire C! I love the grip it gives you on the side on the phone, and it saved my phone from alot of bumps and bruises.
Got this blue cover today makes the phone feel a lot sturdier but it's really difficult to use the power and volume buttons with it on.
I put a little bit of tissue paper inbetween the case and the unlock button, there is a little indent in the case for where the power button us supposted to go, just place a bit of tissue paper and try it out. I found that the more you put, the more sensitive the button is. It bothered me the first time I used the desire C with a case so I used this remedy. Still works fine.
Sent from the Battlefield using a MAV
^ good tip, will give it a go when I next use an affected case.
I have found the buttons unresponsive too, especially with the s-line cases and other tpu cases, that goes for my other handsets, wildfire s & one x
the original htc cases are best, buttons are completely responsive.
It's always worth paying a little extra for quality.

It's silicon and an original HTC accessory, so you shouldn't have any problem finding one.
In the UK all major mobile phone retailers stock them, but at a premium, and more than double the price, eBay or amazon are cheapest I have seen.
So the case is flexible? If so, I don't want it.
I need a hard shell.
Sent from my HTC Desire C
I found this on amazon: http://amzn.to/W1Hx0q
That's an orange version, and says to be hard shell.
Does that mean the black and red ones are hard shells as well? Because i like the red one better.
Yes its flexible, problem with hard shells (well for me) is that over time they start to scratch your device.
I haven't used them on any of my devices since my Nokia 5800, like to keep my devices, as close to new as I can, can't stand chips and scratches especially from something that's suppose to protect it.
The link you posted above has a wrong description, its definitely not a hard shell.
There's only 2 types of original cases as far as I know.
Here's the original desire c hard shell which comes in 2 colours:http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008AJA1CU/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_gb?ie=UTF8

Hi guys.
I should be getting my new HTC One (Silver) in the next day or so and was wondering if I could get away without a case. Has anyone seen any scratch tests or had any experience with the rear of the phone?
I am very careful with my phones but have always used a case in the past. With this being such a great design it would be a shame to cover it up.
Thanks
Russ
Definitely get a case! Aluminium can dent very easily if you drop it. A plastic case will prevent this.

Thanks for your reply.
I understand that dropping it will dent it but I have never dropped my phone (I know there is a first time for everything). I'm more worried about scratches. I will have a screen protector so its purely just the aluminium casing.
Why hide a nice design? I've never understood why ppl buy something nice and then hide it in an ugly plastic case, isn't the htc one a statement against plastic to begin with?
About screenprotectors no idea if they have become any good over the years, I once used one on my htc prophet didn't like it after a day and removed it. Used my nexus s for 2 years without a protector or case and screen still looks perfect and that isn't even gorilla glass.

Personally, I have never used a case on any of my phones, nor will I ever. I don't understand, why cover up the design, and specially a beautiful phone as the HTC One? I've never had any problems with scratches or dents on my phones.
To answer the OP. Get some bubble wrap, that should be sufficient protection
get a nice pouch, 50% of time protected
although i have to say i prefer the transparent One X flip/kickstand cover over the official double dip flip for the One

Its a tough one. Keeping a phone like this nude of course is preferable, but people like to keep their phones looking like new. Even in a pocket with nothing else in it, phones can get damaged because they are not made to be everlasting. I have never dropped a phone. The only phone I kept nude was the iPhone 4 with its glass front/back. It never marked up. But I would bet that aluminium back does scratch and so if you put it even on a table and accidentally it slides across the table it could scratch it.I understand both viewpoints here.
With the official flip case, you can fold it in a way to expose part of the metal back if you want to admire it sometimes. Also the phone is easily removed from the case in seconds.
Pouch means you can't put it in your pockets easily. But still, it'll be the choice i'll take if I can't find a nice cover.

no need to be cynical, when using a nice pouch you still get to use the device naked as well and enjoy
its just a protection during transportatio, also your protect your resale value
ofcourse plastic covers are a ridiculous idea especially over a metal phone, i had a rock excellent soft slim cover for my One X, never used it
and i meant a slim fitting pouch, not the ugly big types
I use a pouch for my one x when in use its no case or screen protector, when not the pouch keeps it scratch free

i bought the same one, but in red. only the black one seems to have the antenna cut out. the rest don't (at least not from the pictures). mine should be here in two weeks...but i imagine theyll have the same issues as the genuine draco has that people complain about in the draco thread.
I bought a red one too. It fits fine, no signal lost or anything. I just stop using mine because im using a zl battery with a modified defender case now, otherwise id still be rocking it.

I actually bought the red one too. It should be here in about 10 days. The pictures from the ebay vendor I purchased from appear to show the antenna cutout on all of the colors.
My only concern is if it will have enough lip to keep the back and screen from touching surfaces when laying flat. As long as it does that, I'll be happy. I currently have a tech21 imapactolgy tpu case on my note2 and although it's slim, it still covers too much of my awesome looking phone. I just wrapped my phone in a full body zagg competitor so my only concern now is edge protection (and at least some lip).

If signal drop-off isn't an issue then the next main issue with most of the knockoff bumbers is the headphone cut-out.
If you listen to a lot of music and want to use better headphones than the original ones, it won't fit. The cut-out is way too small. No one seems to mention that. I bought a few cheap bumpers and an expensive one (after readign reviews in another post here) and all of them had the headphone cut-out issue.
Can you link to the bumper you bought on eBay?

The cut off for head phone jack fits fine, not a whole lot of room but it will work. It also have a lip around both the back and front so if you lay your phone on a flat surface the bunper will protect it from touching the flat surface.

Just ordered one to try vs the Ringke Slim I have on there now. I love the slim except for when I drop the phone, the case pops off and the phone gets damaged anyway.
just got mine. looks pretty solid. there is NO antenna cut out, so it's perfect.
the only problem i had was the case came assembled, and the hex screws holding them in are screwed in super tight. i had to run to home depot and get a hex screwdriver that gave me more torque to turn it. but got it on the phone and it looks really good.
another issue is that the lip on the back is not high enough, so it seems that my camera is touching the surface of the table instead of the case

Did you buy yours from casefanatic? Or from an eBay seller? On the off chance that there are some with the cutout and others without, I can update the OP with links for known good cases.

i'll try to post some pictures tomorrow.
after using it for a few hours, im definitely more scared of dropping the phone since its thinner and more slippery than my previous rubber case; im much more careful with the phone in my hands now.
it fits pretty well; the part where the two parts are screwed together dont fit perfectly though. there's a slight mismatch. but for $15, its fine to me. and i can see how some people will say the edges are sharp. my gf says its sharp and could cause papercut type of cuts, but i dont really see a problem with it.
also, i have no signal drop at all.

i've actually been noticing that ive been getting BETTER reception after putting this bumper on, which is kind of weird. i was expecting to lose at least 1 bar. maybe t-mobile is making some changes or something to their network though.
I wish I have seen this thread before I bought mine last night. I paid $2 more from a different ebay seller. The picture looks pretty much the same. I got the the grey one to go with my grey Note II.
I noticed that the pictures of the frame posted above is so much better than the ones with the phone + frame. I guess the ones with frame alone were taken with the Note II!
Will this bumper fit into any belt clips? Maybe a seidio surface clip?
I got my butterfly S red from Taiwan on Friday purchased it from ebay. Gorgeous phone. The red finish on this is like a glass. If you think the One is nice this surpasses it. I have both the one developer edition , my first one developer edition was sent back due to dead pixels and rough edges and the second one though better still had a lump of rubber trim sticking out the bottom right which I had to gently rub off. But the Butterfly S is absolutely perfect in build quality. It does not support LTE but I have no gripe with that sense I'm getting nearly 20 megabits of HSDPA of ATT , more than enough for me. I have been looking all over the net for a nice case for this sweet phone and nothing out there. Does anybody know of any ?

You can try on alibaba.com or aliexpress.com, be sure to deal with sellers who support Escrow transactions though.

Great
Really a good case
very nice indeed darkpride
i might order that one as well
i like this one and this one
edit: and this one
I currently have a clear case from Metal-Slim and another faux-leather and cloth cover case with rubber.
Mercury has a glittery semi-hard case similar to the glossy finish of the phone itself. It's quite durable, slightly rubbery but otherwise it is more like a hard case. The power button might seem out of reach because it isn't covered by the case and is in between a hole, but once you get used to it, it is easy to press. There is a red one that is very similar to the red Butterfly S in colour. If you're in Taiwan, some of the street-side vendors in Guang Hua Digital Plaza have it (be careful to compare prices). I can't find it online though :S
Has anyone seen aluminum cases? There are some for the One and original Butterfly, but I think the S is too new for such cases to be released...
Has anyone seen any clear soft cases? Currently I use the hard clear Metal-Slim case for daily usage so I can show my monthly bus pass easily.
I just purchased from US now using phone in India not able to get any case as well + no development for butterfly S can be seen as well - hope it picks up - really superb phone was on HTC one earlier n now butterfly

I'm using the Imak clear case.
I have a Remax clear TPU case (MYR30 in Malaysia, about USD10 if I'm not mistaken). Nice fit, with holes aligned to the IR blaster, volume controls, camera and flash as well as all the mics and USB socket. The sim card/micro SD flap is covered which I really like since I dont really open them often.I could still use it with gadgetshieldz installed.
I ordered the Poetic Palette and I'll give my impressions once it and my phone arrives.
