CM11/OmniROM Headphone Issue Xperia Z - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

when playing music via Apollo or Other Music Players plugging headphone with mic cause the sound to be played in external speaker
but when plugging in a another headphone with mic it works fine...
I tested the headphone with my laptop both are working fine and so is my xperia z sound jack...
it looks like a cyanogenmod/omni issue
it is quite irritating does anyone know what is causing this issue... any possible workaround ?
Tested CM11 Clean Build 1 March
OmniROM Clean Build 2 March
I was able to force a sound on the headphone... by playing the music and fast plugging the headphone after awhile the music stopped playing via headphone resuming it will play it via external headphones..
Logs files to OmniROM since cm dont accept bugs report on their nightly
http://jira.omnirom.org/secure/attachment/10369/Logs.txt
Im awaiting from respond from FXP Developer/CM Xperia/Omni Xperia Device Maintainers..
Edited : according to maxwen/omni it is a kernel issue...

does that mean this issue is present on all cm11 nightly builds? thanks

@mrjayviper
I tested it, it seems to have affect CM10.2 Stable Version and CM11 nightly all we could do now is use another earphone to see if it works I tested with the sony earphones it seems fine.. the current issue is really unknown but I suspect it is cause by the blobs and kernel outdated issue...
FXP knows about the issue... all we could do is wait for an update of blobs or kernel to happen...

[Q] Audio Issue

Hello Guys!
I'm not asking for help so often but today I am so angry because of my phone.
I installed newely released CM10 Beta1 by Maclaw and I was suprised what a great ROM it is but then I've found 2 big problems
1) When I play music using any music player (Apollo, Play Music, PowerAMP,...) and I connect my headphones the music still plays on the speaker but phone know that headphones are connected. I've tried about 3 different used headphones and 4 brand new headphones in the shop and it's the same
2) When I make phone call the sound is only on REAR Speaker (The same speaker which plays your Music, Ringtone,etc) and there is no way to make it work right (on the Front speaker)
Steps I did first time:
->Flashed CM10 Beta1
->Flashed Gapps
->Rebooted
Not Working
Second Time:
->Flashed CM10 Beta1
->Flashed Gapps
->Made Factory Reset/Full Wipe
->Rebooted
Not Working
Third Time:
->Formated System, Data, Cache
->Wiped Dalvik-Cahce
->Made Factory Reset/Full Wipe
->Wiped Cache
->Flashed CM10 Beta1
->Flashed Gapps
->Made Factory Reset/Full Wipe
-> Rebooted
Not Working
After about 20 flashes and formats I am facing the same problem but the other people don't
If someone know what's wrong please help me
Thank You!

I've tried two different headphones with poweramp and it all works good for me on CM10.
Phone call only on rear speaker is the same for me.
Don't know what can be causing your headphone problem, just wanted to let you know that it not seems to be a rom problem.
It looks like rom problem cause I'm facing this problem only on CM10 Beta1 ... on alpha 2 it is okay
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk 2
I'm also on CM10 B1, but i'm not facing that headphone problem. Strange..
Maybe it will be okay in next release cuz its the only ROM where I have this problem

[Q] Audio quality on phone jack of nook hd+

I'm currently using the carbon rom, but the problem came up with the early kitkat releases. Basically the hd+ speaker seems to work pretty well, but when I plug a pair of headphones / in ear / everything, the audio becomes incredibly bad.
I don't have nandroid backups, sigh. How do I restore the audio out quality?

You could boot into recovery, make a full backup, then try any rom flavor and if you don't like at any time then just restore and continue where you left off. Titanium backup free for quick app restore in any new installed rom if you like it.
Headphones sound normal on cm official feb 4th build. Could be carbon rom.

Thanks, it seems to have worked . If anything bad happens, I'll post here.
Nope, audio problem is still there. I used a pair of big headphones and sound was somewhat better, but when I used the in ear headphones, the bad, noisy quality revealed itself in all its dark magnificence.
So we can somewhat exclude it's a rom related issue, I think.
So the problem did not solve. Any other thoughts?
I had same problem with audio from the phone jack. Made high bitrate mp3 sound like 64kbps stream. I honestly don't know what I did to fix it. I think it was just updating to a newer cm11 nightly build.
hello,i'm experiencing the same problem too.especially when i turn to volume up,i try to fix it using apps like v4a but not a real success so far.i'd like to somehow a fix for this prob.
Hello people. It's somewhat heartwarming to know that there's someone else that has got the same problems. I've, too, tried to fix this with V4A, but without success.
Leapinlar told me that going from jb to kk and getting back can be problematic and we should probably try to wipe system manually (CWM>wipe system).
I'm currently using a Carbon JB ROM. I will try to re-install it today, by performing every single wipe available and report here to let you know the outcome. Wish me luck :silly:
So I did all wipes and installed cm11 but the problem is still there, even wiping system manually. I don't really know what to do

Did you try a different music player? Try something like Rocket Player. Also, maybe you should flash pure stock, just so you can better isolate the problem. If it's still there with pure stock, then it might be a hardware issue. If it isn't there, then you know it's the ROM or some type of app conflict.
I have CM11 nightlies on my HD and notice no audio problems whatsoever. I am pretty picky about audio, love the sound on my HD, and would have gone right back to stock or something else if I found any audio problem with CM11.

NEW DETAILS: sound quality is actually normal. With a pair of headphones I have no problems, BUT when I plug in the stock in-ear earphones from my sony ericsson xperia arc s sound quality lowers significantly.
Being that I study audio engineering and I'm becoming more and more experienced with sound, the sound output is really similar to sound in which there are some huge phase cancellation problems going on.
So the volume of different frequencies lowers significantly as they just get cancelled out of the output, forcing me to raise the volume until I hear a really bad, full of background noise sound.
However, when I use the earphones on my nook, and keep pressed the headset button used to pause/skip tracks or to respond to an incoming call (when I use it on the smartphone), sound goes back to normal! If I release it, sound goes back to being bad.
So, my theory is that when we connect a common TRS connector (like the one used by my headphones) we have no problems with the audio output. However, when we connect a TRRS connector (like the one used by my in-ear earphones), some bad stuff happens, like, bad circuitry stuff.
So I think that the TRRS connector is either not compatible hardware-wise with the nook (wouldn't surprise me, as it wasn't designed to be used as a phone), or the nook software is simply not correctly programmed to handle a TRRS type connector, like the ones used on smartphones

I wonder if your Sony earphones are somewhat proprietary in their wiring. TRRS seems to work fine with a generic pair of Scosche headphones I use on my tablets and Nexus S phone. The button works too, unlike on my 2012 Nexus 7.
Sent from my BN NookHD+ using XDA Premium HD app
I use high end earbuds and Bose headphones, the nook hd+ on cm10.2 or cm11 sounds great. Cleaner than any other android I've used.
Are you at max volume or 2nd to max? Those have been very slightly crackly since verygreen bumped audio gain back in august. those settings are in audio.primary.ovation.so. I edited mine.
I don't use my nook as a phone, seems ridiculous.

[Q] No Sound from loudspeaker on Stock Rom

Hello fellow XDA members
Normally I wouldn't post anything as I would have solved my problem via searching, but I could not find anything relating to my problem. Anyway here goes.
My Xperia Z does not produce sound from the loudspeaker on STOCK based roms, other roms such as CM11 and MIUI work perfectly fine. which rules out a hardware fault. The problem is rather weird. Specifically, it is like the phone thinks the earphone is plugged in, therefore all the sounds are being routed to the earphone port and not the speaker. Notification tones sometime work but it its very soft or have like a crackling sound. (Note sound works fine through the earphones). This obviously has an impact on voice calls, the only way I can talk without a headset is via bluetooth headset or to put the loudspeaker on, which then the person comes through the loudspeaker.
This lead me to believe it has something to do with Smart Connect(Liveware), where once the earphone is plugged in the music automatically starts playing, so therefore the app may think the earphone is plugged in 24/7. I deleted the app but still the problem was there.
As I said this is only apparent on stock roms. I flashed unmodded stock via flashtool(4.3) and still same problem, other stock based roms I have tried include Existenz v1.5.5(4.4.2) and BlackZ(4.4.2). However on CM11 roms(4.4.4), MIUI(4.2.2 - 4.4) and ColorOS(4.2.2) the sound works completely fine, except on CM11 the mic randomly stops working but that may be another bug entirely.
I am completely stumped on this and any help would be appreciated. Thank you

1- Sorry if I posted in the wrong thread.
2- I have PureXaudio installed, but it does not help, I have also tried every other sound mod but since it does not change where the sound is outputted through it doesn't help(except my music sounds cooler )
3- As I said in the original post I have searched for it and no-one has this particular problem, there are similar ones though but those have been resolved with flashing stock. But with the stock rom the problem still persists.

Sound working for Alarm,Ringtone but not for music,youtube calls + Build Prop problem

I am on stock 5.0 ROM of ZR, Rooted n dual-recovery installed,
I am facing weird issue, whenever i gets call then i can hear ringtone, even alarm, also WhatsApp notifications but music or YouTube or any video does not give me sound, it only works on earphones,
even whenever i gets calls i can either speak on loudspeaker or with earphones connected, direct call is impossible for me
To figure this out i also tried factory reset but it didn't helped me, i also thought its hardware problem but sometimes EG. 1 out of 7 days music, calls, videos sound works WITHOUT earphones, so i am unable to figure out where is the problem ?
I strongly feels its earphones 3.5mm jack which is detecting it as i am already connected to earphones though i didn't..
So any way to solve it ? i tried playing with that jack also but no success,
Another problem is before flashing i changed my build prop to one samsung s6 device for some work purpose with buildprop editor, but even after factory reset i can see it didn't changed to stock build prop of sony zr device, why it happened & how to solve it also,
Please Help,
Thanks in Advance .
reboot phone, plzz
You must find a stock build prop and insert in to your system using root explorer or similar.. I know the S6 build-prop you are talking about and its meant for S6, which have other bits than ZR.. Don't mess with the build prop unless there are bits specific to ZR bro.. You should be ok once the build prop has been changed
i also have this problem, it looks like headphone jack problem, i also tried disassembling and removing headphone jack assembly but problem still exists in any roms above android 4.3 ( 4.1 and 4.3 and cm varient of same works perfectly. ( btw disassembling resulted in 2 times broken screen and useless headphone jack :crying: )
problem is phone thinks something is still in that whole :silly: in os above 4.3 , sony messed with software ( because if jack is faulty then it shouldn't work in older os too, and it should have worked when i ran phone without jack assembly )
your best bet is either use 4.3 or lower version or use "hf button widget" ( 70KB app ) to force audio through speaker. :highfive:
though proximity may not work.
I am seeing lots of of ZR user raising this this issue and unfortunately I have it too.
Your workaround is that install SoundAbout app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix&hl=en for you to enable the sound through speaker.
I have also Xperia ZR C5502 and facing this type of problem I noticed phone notification show sometimes headset connected but in really it isn't connected so incoming calls sound doesn't hearing from phones speaker.I must turn on loud speaker to hear phone's sound.Sorry for bad English.

No headphone audio

Flashed cm-13.0-20160826-UNOFFICIAL-gemini from the "[ROM] [Unofficial] [Nightly Builds] Cyanogenmod 13" forum today. Using the stock CM13 music player, when I play music without headphones plugged in, the music plays correctly. But as soon as I plug in my headphones, the music stops. The Play button seems to indicate that the music is still playing but the "current position" doesn't advance. Pushing Play sometimes causes the music to play in the headphones.
The headphone volume is set correctly because I can hear the little button feedback sounds in the headphones.
This is the same issue reported in "Problem with last cyano", but never replied to.
I also flashed the latest xiaomi.eu ROM, xiaomi.eu_multi_MI5_V8.0.3.0.MAACNDH_v8-6.0, and the music playback works correctly with or without the headphones.
I would stick with MIUI, but the UI drives me crazy.
The problem was fixed by the CM13 9/1 build. Thanks for the help.
sorry wrong thread
