One of the app permissions says "record audio". Why does it need to do that?

We'll get 4.4 from custom Roms soon enough.
By the way, you misspelled "KitKat".

Just flashed my HD to 10.1.3. I like it a lot. Tried to install the Nook reader app and got a message saying it was incompatible. Is that a CM issue or an app issue? It runs fine on my Nexus 7 with Kit Kat.

It runs fine on CM. It is a Play Store issue. Just get it somewhere else like 1mobile.com.
