Is there any method to root the firmware 757 but temporary, on locked bootloader? Anyone knows?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
All root is temporary because you can just unroot by removing the files..
Also SuperSU app has an unroot function

Anyway, just replace the stock ric file.

There is no way, and there is no need to temp root xperia z1.. Temp root is only for device like HTC wich have locked bootloader and some added security such as S-OFF. In xperia u have only locked or unlocked bootloader and perma root.

You cannot pre root FTF files. Everything in a FTF file has to be completely stock from Sony
You need to follow the instructions in my signature if you want 757 and root and not unlock the bootloader

Hi guys,
I have a xperia z1 running 4.4.2 14.3.A.757 and i was wondering if i could use Vroot running 4.4.2 to root my z1 or do i have to downgrade to 4.2.2 the open Vroot and start the root process.
also i was wondering if i could open root with many android and root with 4.4.2 rather than 4.2.2.
Have been trying to follow Shem's video on youtube, the root with may android binary method when i open the runme.bat file it says out of date?
Or is there a way when i can root using 4.4.2 without
-unlocking the bootloader
-downgrading
-loosing all user data.
Im a noob to all the root stuff haha!
thanks brandon

To be honest I haven't a clue! Haha, I followed shems video on YouTube to root with binary method and when it got to flashable zip on the sd card twrp didn't seem to recognise the zip so I have to start the phone up with no os.. Flashed stock rom with flashtool. Tried to root the other day with the root many android and opened the install.bat file and it said it can't run supersu because my phone was out of date?

There is absolutely no need to root the phone using bin4ry, root many android, kingo or any other method. Shems videos are overkill (IMHO) and have unnecessary steps

Hey guys and girls i've had my Xperia Z C6603 since it came out and I had rooted it since it was realeased to be able to but the other day I went to flash a custom ROM and bricked it. I then used the Sony tool to put the latest OFW on and reset it and then tried many different rooting methods with no luck.
I have the
C6603 on 4.4.2 and the.bootloader is not allowed to be unlocked.
Is it possible to flash a custom ROM and root it? And if so which method will work?
Its on 10.5.A.0.230 build :/
Thanks people.

Indeed it does require an unlocked bootloader.
In your situation, the only way to gain root is to downgrade to a 4.2.2 firmware, root and flash a prerooted KitKat rom or a custom rom of your preference.

It's the Q&A section. If people knew everything, they wouldn't be asking for assistance here.
Please stop posting incorrect or incomplete information and replying without reading the question properly and I won't need to keep correcting you.

You're correct. There's no way to unlock your bootloader.
Yes, you will need to download a 4.2.2 firmware and flash it using Flashtool. This will probably require that you wipe your data, unfortunately.

1. Download a 4.2.2 FTF - Download.
2. Flash it with Flashtool.
3. Install XZDualRecovery using the unrooted method.
4. Install a prerooted KitKat rom, such as this or a custom rom of your choice.
If you need any help with Flashtool, then just ask.

When updating to a new ROM eg, one at 4.4.x do I really need to upgrade up each build version? I looked at the requirements and one requires the next down, and then again and I think I would need to do it like 4 times.
You shouldn't need to, as most custom roms provide everything you need. The zip sometimes contains everything or sometimes you have to use Flashtool to flash a supplied FTF for the kernel and baseband.
If you're unsure, you could ask in the specific thread for the rom.

ADDITIONAL,
I also cannot create a backup for my rom in TWRP.. It fails when backing up system. but I checked the TWRP folder, it has files in it even the system. So is it really backed up and the message that says "FAILURE" is only a bug?

If you reffering to Update via PC Companion or OTA then, Right, you cannot do that, is not recommended as you will lose Root. ...but you can update to .761 Pre-Rooted by NUT, like you already did, same way, download files from HERE.

Hey Everybody
Good news.
Easily root Xperia ZR on .101
I used http://towelroot.com
Fast and easy
Of course USB debugging should be enable.
Happy rooting
I ve seen this on the Xperia Z forums and what works there works everywhere !
So I say it works on the KitKat firmware
Dont think it would work on. 230 firmwares, kernel are patched in those.
But it should work on earlier ones.
Maybe i will try later.

After this root you only had to install a recovery and it is perfect right?

Is installing recovery really necessary?
Thankyou wafeeq for sharing
I have a few (noobish)questions about this method of rooting, because the instructions are still a little sketchy for now.
I was wondering what the point of installing recovery is, is it to get the SuperSU to work on the phone? (forgive my noobish question).
After installing recovery do I have to set anything in recovery mode?
Is it necessary to unlock the bootloader?
Does this mean I can use backupTA after getting root? That would be awesome.

You are welcome.
1- Superuser is not recovery, imagine superuser as the policeman controlling root access.
2- just install recovery mentioned earlier.
3- You will not unlock your bootloader so nothing to fear regarding drm keys or ta partition.

Ok thanks, the rooting actually works I tested without installing recovery and rootchecker says it is rooted
As for recovery which BAT file should I run? SuperSU.BAT or SuperUser.BAT? I don't know how to check which one I have

Can confirm working flawlessly on .230, tested using "Terminal Emulator" and gives a positive root result of #. Installed SuperSU and behaves as expected when trying to run root applications except when I try to run it manually, it prompts for an SU binary update saying "SU binary needs to be updated, Continue?". The normal update fails, think this is because i'm running stock firmware. Will need to flash the SUupdate after installing a custom recovery.
Ps: The Mcaffee antivirus detected the rooting apk as a virus, false positive prolly.....
