Basically, this thread is going to be a list of necessary and optional accessories someone might want for their Nexus 7. It can act as a guide for new Nexus 7 owners in the future and, of course, all of us right now. It would be best, when posting your additions to the list, if you would post a link to where it can be purchased. I will update the thread and post the links under each category after each submission.
Necessary:
1. Cases/Covers:
Google Play Nexus 7 Case: https://play.google.com/store/devic...GwsMSwyLDExMSwiZGV2aWNlLW5leHVzXzdfY292ZXIiXQ..

2. Screen protectors:

XOSkin: http://xoskins.com/laptops-tablet-r...in-protectors/google-nexus-7-screen-protector - hullbay (NOTE: You should probably look for coupon codes. Optional:
1. USB OTG cables:

Will that really work? If it does I'm buying it for sure, I could store a ton of my ripped DVD's in good quality that way.
Bro, for screen protectors I wouldn't go with anything other than an XOSkin. I've had one on my Nexus since it was unboxed the first day and wouldn't recommend anything else.

They just put up the Nexus 7 skin available for purchase, I'm placing my order later today so that I can remove the plastic and put on the XO

Good call
What warrants.. XO protector for 20 bucks... I can get like 3 of them on ebay for 5 bucks :|
An accessory by definition is not necessary.

Wet application vs dry application. Lifetime warranty (and they're good for it). If you've never used a wet application screen protector it would be hard to understand. Of all the advantages, the most important is that you can position it perfectly because it slides until it dries. Also, they don't scratch (drag a key across the 3 for $5 screen protector; you'll get a scratch on the plastic; not so on a wet-apply protector). And if you get dust or a hair under the protector during the application you can get it out; if you don't you won't be able to see it anyways (no bubbles). Oh, last thing: they don't peel at the corners or turn yellow. It's pretty much night and day. Take my word, I though the same way you did until I got one on a sale. Never going back...
BTW- I've never used XO protectors, but I'm tempted to jump since it appears they're the only ones with the nexus7 already. Had nothing but good experiences with clearprotector (and you can always get 50% off with coupon "iwantultra") but they don't have the nexus yet and I want it waiting for me when my tablet arrives....

Yes, by definition. But people who don't use accessories like cases and screen protectors usually end up damaging their devices, so, in my opinion, that makes them necessary. Things like USB-OTG and styli are just there for the people who want to use them. Either way, I feel that this can be a helpful thread for everyone, especially if it gets stickied.
Fair enough ( Though my phone has survived without either and only has a minor dent in the back )
What about tablet stands, bluetooth keyboards and UK links?

I've used good wet and dry protectors. Wet is basically like you say, but they never feel right to me. I just don't care for the "rubbery" feel. A good dry acrylic protector feels identical to the screen itself, and only has one drawback aside from a bit more work; they do scratch a little. Even that really isn't a big deal (to me) as the scratches are very light and "disappear" when the backlight is on.
Good dry acrylics (like Clarivue for example) don't yellow or peel. Also, while you do need to take a good amount of time and care to make sure no dust or hairs end up under the protector while you're applying it (you can always lift it back up to remove dust or hairs if they do get trapped), once it's done you'll never have to mess with it again.
Did anyone here who already has a Nexus 7 try the PU Leather Folio Stand Case? I'm planning on purchasing it. Does the screen automatically shut off when the flap is completely covering it?

I can pretty much guarantee it will not. The Nexus 7 doesn't have magnetic sensors, so the only method of screen on/off would be a proximity sensor, which I also don't believe it has.
I also question whether it's truly made for the Nexus 7 or not. There's a bunch of Kindle Fire or similar 7" tablet cases floating around that have been re-branded as "Nexus 7" cases. My recommendation is to wait until you can find a Nexus 7 case on an official manufacturer's website and purchase it there.
I just ordered the styluses that were in the OP. Said they will be here between August 1st and August 17th.

Hey OP -
I found a US seller who is selling the same generic PU flip case as in your OP for the same price and free shipping.
It is less than $10, so I took a flyer on it.:silly:

Awesome! I was holding out on purchasing it myself because of the wait, but now I'll certainly be buying it. I'll replace my link with your link.
I just bought the case from the above link. I'm still looking for cheap screen protectors (hopefully that come in packs). I don't know if I should purchase it from Hong Kong because that is going to take a while. What do you guys think? I'm hoping to purchase it tonight.
*Does the Nexus 7 come with an already applied "screen protector" film?
I didnt find this deal I saw it in the members found section so make sure you thank him there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873932
But long story short the sale is buy any 3 screen protectors and then apply the coupon code and you would be golden. For 3 Nexus 7 screen protectors the deal would come out to 4.50 which is a very hard deal to pass up on.
Hell yes, thank you for this! Got one for my N7, PS Vita and my upcoming S3 for under $4.
Not to bump up an old thread but... I finally got around to applying my xtremeguard skin on my N7, and it looks pretty sweet on it.

I use these all the time on every device. Just as good as Zagg Shield at a ridiculously low price.
Have one on my M8 now and I like it.
Yes, you can't beat the price.

I've always used best skins ever but the price seems to good to pass. Can anyone compare the 2. Also is the dry one they have even worth it? Most cheap protectors end up getting filled with scratches after a couple weeks

They're excellent, with 80% off they are gorgeous.
Just bought 2.
Thank you
The dry ones are just like the crappy, scratch prone protectors. Learn from my mistake & don't bother.
I can vouch for their normal ones though, Zagg/BestSkins quality!

Last month i got 90%off
Btw, thanks for the info
Using it on my N5. Bought one for my M8 and for my gf iPhone 5c. I think they are pretty nice.

Looks like the code has expired. Just tried to use it and it isn't taking it anymore says it expired on the 16th. Hate I missed out.
Bought some when they were 90%. Got a bad batch and contacted customer service. They immediately sent replacements. It's still curing but I'm liking the look thus far. I bought the full body protection. I like how the back has a better grip now.
If anyone has a new discount code for these, please pass it on. Would love to try them out. Thanks.
Just got mine today, shipped to Sweden in about a week.
Bought 1 regular and one "HD" (dry install). Payed all together $2 (!!!) with shipping to Sweden.
Just applied the dry HD one, looks all right, but doesn't reach all the way out to the edges, missing 1,5-2 mm.
Got 2-3 dust particles stuck when applying, and all of them creates a small air pocket around it, that I hope will go away.
Gonna let it stay on for a while, and see how it works out.

Thanks so much for the link!
Got two dry-apply screens for 80 cents!
I just needed the thinnest scratch-resistant screens to protect the Gorilla Glass of the M8. I'm putting the rest of it in a heavy-duty 2-layer silicone and polycarbonate case anyhow.
Just got a full body kit and hd protector for 1.30 thanks! I thought I'd get away form the Invisible Shields, and these look promising
Do I miss discount? Anyway, can someone who uses protector for back side can share his/her thoughts? I don't like screen protectors but I consider to buy protector for back side.
I'm looking to spend at a maximum price of £4 on a case as I'm forking out another £10 to get the 2015 version of this phone for the 4G so I need an inexpensive case. An included screen protector would be great too (doesnt have to be anything fancy, just to cover the screen for a while til' I'm used to the phone)
I'd prefer to order on Amazon, I have searched there but I'm just looking for feedback from people I can 100% trust (You guys)
as far as cases go you wont find one that covers the front screen sadly. Ever since I got this phone I've tried looking for one with no success. but best case I got is this case http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MC0KEP2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 cheap and durable. And for screen protector! http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Shield-Gen...lacement/dp/B00MXXTQN4/ref=pd_bxgy_cps_text_y sorry if above price range!

Which one did you eventually decide on?

It's not a bad price if you're looking to try your hand at the Whitestone game.
I purchased it and then cancelled it hours later. Too expensive to maintain. I'm using a wet install Skinomi and like it enough to not want to swap it out.

If you read the thread on the dome glass you will see alot of unhappy campers and a track record of poor customer service from them. Some say after 3 weeks after a perfect install, it pulls up on the right side. Not interested until there is a new revision on the glass or the process.
Amazon.ca is showing the same product image of 50% off but the price is not being reflected on the page.
Canadians getting the shaft again.
I sure hope this gets fixed as I'd love to grab one at this price!
I wouldn't pay full price for the Whitestone, I got it when they liquidated some stock for pennies. I don't know if the issue is the TGSP or their Loca formula but it seems very pressure sensitive (whether it's pressure from being on a pocket, or holding onto it tightly). My 2nd protector, which has only been on about 2-3 weeks now, has minor lines on the center-sides where it curves. Very minor, but if they do what the last one did in the upper right corner, they will spider out further.

i picked one up for the $30 deal i have a friend that says its awesome so i will give it a shot!
i got one for $40 CDN after Amazon.ca adjusted the price yesterday. It was $30 on Amazon US, so it comes to $40 CDN after the exchange rate.
I queried it with Whitestone as the 50% was showing on Amazon.co.uk too, and got this response...
Hi,
Sorry for confusing. It was a system error and 50% off is for US Amazon.
We will get soon for UK as well.
Best,
