After installing Hyperdrive Note 3 on my phone, everything has worked except for 1 issue. I am unable to check my voicemail. After I downloaded the AT&T voicemail App, it asks me to call my voicemail, which I get this recorded message "Hi Scott, Scott is unavailable to come to the phone right now, please leave a message after the beep." This is on my own mobile phone. Even if I just call my voicemail, I get the same message. I have no idea what to do.
Did you install Google voice?
Open settings-device-call, and scroll down to voicemail. Make sure it says "my carrier" and not Google voice. Also check the number stored there.

I have Google Voice installed on the phone, it shows the voice mail in text message no problem, so it is working. But how do I add or change the greeting ? Right now if you call my phone it just says something like this Google phone subscriber is not available.
Thank you.

You can do it on your computer buy going to http://voice.google.com or, DIAL THE GOOGLE VOICE number, not your real cell phone number.
Hello it seems Google Voice is not compatible with the Bionic. Is there a manual work around? I remember reading a while back a way to do this with the thunderbolt. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It says: unfortunately your carrier is not supported for automatic voicemail configuration. To use google voice as your voicemail provider, please visit the google voice help center more more information.
I got that error message too, but the voice mail does in fact work ok.
The problem I am having is that my google voice number is not showing as the calling number, even though it is set to be. I have tried changing the settings to ask each time, and it does not ask. It is still not working after rebooting too.

Just go to the google voice site on a computer and enter your phone number manually in the google voice settings on the website. It is a very self explanatory process once there. After that, go into your wireless network settings on your bionic and change the Voicemail settings from "my carrier" to "google voice." Not sure where this is on motoblur, but just look around and you should find it. If you get an error message or it freezes, do a reboot, go into the settings again and verify google voice is selected in the Voicemail settings. You should be okay after this.

Thanks for your help gotta it!
So caller id still shows my actual phone number and not my google voice number even when it is configured to do so. Any one else have this problem?
That error came at the point (for me) where it should automatically insert *71###-###-#### (*71 + your google number) in to the dialer to forward missed calls. So I did it manually and GVoice has worked fine for me. I did get one FC, but not sure if it was because of debloat or actual GVoice app. Other than that I have made calls, recieved Vmails and texts through GVoice just fine.

seems be working now, thanks
I cannot set Google voice as my voicemail provider.
When I try to set it it says "Failed to retrieve and save current forwarding number settings."
Does this have to do with ATT's new visual voicemail crap?
Any way to get around this?

When you get the "Do you still want to make the change" hit yes. It says it errors but it does. If you finish out the set up, then make a call from another phone and it ignore and leave a message you will see it goes to Google Voice.
I just confirmed and this is what my Vivid does.
Navigate www.google.com/voice, go to settings, make sure your phone is listed.
Click on activate google voicemail on this phone and it will give you the number to enter on your phone (e.g. *004*1800XXXXXX#)
After that, download the google voice app, install, open it up and follow the prompts to install.

I believe a valid workaround is to go to settings - call - call forwarding and set your "forward when unaswered" and "forward when unreachable" to your google voice number.

Thanks. that worked.
I had the same issue make sure your WIFI is on and then try it it should now work. Thanks
I had a similar issue, when I tried to change the "Voicemail Service" setting, it failed and gave me an error. But I just went in and manually changed the forwarding numbers to my Google Voice number and it worked just fine. So while the settings still say "My Carrier", it's actually using Google Voice.

Me too. I tried to "contact [my] carrier" as it suggested, but they are clueless. I wonder where the issue really is (carrier/framework/google).
EDIT: Wow, ancient thread. Sorry. Thanks for nothing Google results.
Hey Guys,
Has anyone managed to get Google Voice to work on the S5? On every other phone that I've had, and it's been a lot in the last year, I always just install the app, run through configuration and it's fine. On the S5, I simply can't get it to work.
I only use Google Voice for my voicemails. I don't make or receive calls with my Google Voice number. Every time I run through the setup it gives me an error and then says if I want to change providers or something like that. If I hit yes, it fails. If I hit no, my Google Voice voicemail doesn't work.
Any ideas? I went to the Google Voice website and deleted my phone and added it again with no success. What is going wrong?
Thanks!

you probably need to re-forward VM to GV. My S5 kept giving me an error when I tired to do it via the app, so I manually forwarded to my GV# via..
*004*xxx-xxx-xxxx# (where xxx-xxx-xxxx is your Google Voice phone number) then Press Call
PS: I'm not certain if you need to, but I set up my AT&T voicemail before I forwarded to GV,
I guess I got lucky -- I ran through the GV setup via the app and it worked perfectly the first time. I kept having issues when trying to set it up on my mothers S4...had to eventually reboot her phone and change it manually in settings. For my S5, it worked fine the first run through.
I also set up AT&T visual voicemail before GV. I did this just to double-check if my old voicemails were still there.

With Verizon, you have to manually set the call forwarding to your Google Voice. There are 3 different instances when you want to have your calls forwarded.
See this thread for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/fix-google-voice-forwarding-advanced-t2980980
When setting up Google Voice app on the phone, it will probably tell you that the app couldn't set up voicemail properly. That is ok, because you are doing it manually.
However, with the latest Hangouts/SMS changes, I'm not even sure you need the google voice app, if you set your google voice messages to use Hangouts.
