As far as battery life the main drains are the display and bluetooth, I think if the display is off as much as possible and you have black background you should get about the same battery life. You can underclock the Null ROM may help a bit, or turn on the second core may hurt but the main use of the battery is the display.
I would recommend Null just because the better launcher and increased functionality.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply!
By flashing null_rom do you lose anything else other than the warranty, compared to the Stock Rom?

No you lose nothing.
As far as warranty I believe all you need to do is use Odin and flash a stock image, I doubt you lose the warranty.

Best Battery?

Hey guys, just thought I'd poll and ask some questions?
So if looking for the best possible battery life (over peformance) which is recommended,
true official stock samsung ROM? or stock ROM e.g. Adrenaline ROM etc
I've tried Stocklite, Adrenaline and am currently using Thunderbolt. However my battery life never goes over a day, even with Juice Defender Ultimate and SetCPU profiles.
Any one else have any experiences with good roms? Battery calbiration tips? charging tips anything?
Thanks

1.The battery life depends more upon your baseband rather than the roms.
Ofcourse the roms do make a difference!
Eg. Earlier i was using Stocklite v7.1 on DDKQ8, and it used to last a day, now on XWKTM it lasts more than that.
2.The battery calliberation is said to be a myth as an official google android developer stated that it does not affect the battery in anyway. (Tried it personally too, no change in battery life!)
3.Underclock when you are not using heavy apps on your phone.
4.The way you use your phone makes a great difference, switch off the bluetooth, gps, data, wifi when not needed! Reduce the brightness, it saves the battery!
Hope all this would help you!

High Android OS

I am using a friend's old Bionic as a backup after my GNex broke and I am seeing Android OS reported as being very high in the stock Android usage Battery Meter - I don't see any major wakelocks in BBS either.
Anything that might cause this or anything I can freeze, disable, etc to fix this? Any other information I can provide that would be helpful?
Thanks in advance.

normal for bionic since ICS and JB...go with a rom or de-odexed...plus even it being on the high end its not really soaking up that much battery juice. its an overall of all the apps you have that need constant updating.

Any recommendations on a ROM? Is there a stock Bionic ROM that is de-odexed?
Also do you see an increase in battery life by switching to a ROM?
Thanks in advance.
As far as battery increase.. you might get a little increase. Eclipse rom has always been good. And liquid smooth. Its all trial and error. Use safestrap so you have stock rom saved. Use the the other slots to try different roms. Im using stock rom that's been de-odexed and debloated. Also have OEM extended battery 2760 mah. I consider myself a medium user. Can get me through the day no problem. BTW if you use juice defender to name one.. I don't care what anyone says .. any battery saving app out there is a joke.

What's the best kernel for stock ROM.

I don't need a feature packed one. I just want one built for battery life.

kernels dont decide your battery life. battery life is decided by your personal use, your setup, your apps installed, and very much the quality of your data/phone connection. kernels have very little effect on battery life.

I see. I seemed to have better life with certain kernels, it could be placebo then.
"Best" Kernel threads are not allowed, please just try them all for yourself

Had you followed the rules you would have found that it all depends on your personal setup. The apps you have installed, settings you have set up, Area you live in and even how you use your device all effect your battery.
A search would have told you to try them all out and make up your own mind.

What's the best setup for optimal battery life?

I only really use my z1 for Spotify, LINE, reddit and Facebook. Currently the battery life isn't so great as it needs charged during the day..
What's the best rom/firmware etc to flash which will give me the best battery performance?
I've not been on xda for quite some time so I'm a bit out of the loop,I did some looking but couldn't find a definitive answer.
Cheers!
??
I'm on stock but rooted lollipop, with Stamina mode and Greenify helping each other out. Also I underclock down to 1GHz but I'm not quite sure if it helps.
On all my past devices running the stock firmware almost always makes the most out of your battery.

Sorry for late reply, didn't get notified.
I think that's normal pretty normal battery if you use Spotify+LINE+reddit+Facebook with 2 out of 4 signal o__o
Well the thing is that when you play music on spotify, your phone cannot sleep.
You should try to get a better signal/reception of wi-fi and cellular. I have read that these without good signal could cause battery drain, as you see, cell standby at 9%. Sorry I don't know how to improve those but :/ yeah..
Maybe try "Stamina Mode" if you didn't activate it (It should have a + logo next to the battery when activated)?
Lower your brightness if you can, that's the biggest drain!
At last, for a rom suggestion,I don't have because I'm stuck on stock roms ._. , maybe try some custom roms when you have free time

Yeah it's not too bad I guess, I just use it more than I realise. Already running mxrom, I've found stamina mode doesn't make much difference.
Thanks for the tips!
