Hey guys. After updating to 4.3 android I have to root my device again. But there is only hard way to do this. I have to unlock bootloader (I don't want to do this, what if I brick my phone up?) then do other hard things.
And I don't know. Should I do this, or wait for easy root method, like we had for 4.1? Also I heard that new firmware 12.1.A.1.195 is going to come out, after I update to that firmware I will have to root again, right?
So please give me suggestions, and if it's better to root, which one is safest way to unlock BL and then root the device
Thanks
maybe
if u have doubt that rooting can damage ur phone use unlockroot pro it easily root and unroot ur phone I have used it more than 5 times ,secondly u don't need unlocked bootloader for rooting

I didn't know Unlockroot ever worked on Xperia SP... Did you test it ?
@bero1608 : Just search on google "unlockroot" and take the first link, but i'm not sure it will work on this device...

Nope it doesn't work on SP
I think its for old phones, like Xperia X10 and so on, which had android 2.0, 2.3.....

There is a way to root without unlocking bootloader, but you'll have to flash a rom for it which will delete all userdata from your device
@bero1608 : Anyway, you don't have to unlock your bootloader to root on 4.3 ! You can follow this thread . I'm on this rom, and everything is fine, and I am root
@Nanostray
That's why I don't want to do that...
@SmileySob
I have to downgrade to .254 then root then .257 then blahblahblahblahblah and .266 I can't do that I can't risk @DooMLoRD save me, release easy root
I think I will wait for new firmware which comes out mid-march, so I wont need to re-root again and again.........
Thanks for replies

Hi, can someone help me? Want to root an Xperia Z Tablet with 10.1.C.0.370 firm.
Is there a way to make me root?
Thank you very much.
I believe the easiest way to root is to downgrade to .434, root via the known exploit and wait for OTA update to .307.
If you don't want to wait, you can backup your TA partition with DevShaft's tool, unlock your bootloader, flash a CWM & root kernel like DoomLord's then reflash stock kernel from an .ftf file and re-lock your phone by restoring TA partition. Always risking messing with TA, but its the best way to root if you are impatient
Thank you very much for your reply, I understand that even then there is no way to root the 370, this is correct right?
regards.
Are you people really going to make root topics each time a new fw comes out....?
If you can't wait then just unlock your BL!

try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2331844
Hi, i got my Sony Xperia Z1 today and I want to do all the tweaking and flashing things. So, according to what i read i should do the following:
1- Root phone with some root program
2- Backup TA and DRM keys: don't know what drm keys are, neither how to backup them...
3- Update to ftf .290 (4.3)
4- Unlock Boot loader: Will this void warranty? Saw people saying that with TA backed up I can restore warranty as well, but at sony website it says it will void. Can someone clarify this to me?
5- Root again: Why should i root again? In which previous step I lose root?
6- Flash kernel with flashtool (or adb): Which are the best kernels? I will flash doomlord kernel for now
7- Flash custom rom: This is my main question. Which are the best 4.3 roms? I'm taking a look at iHacker, Monx, and PAC. Looks like PAC doesn't have camera working, can someone confirm that? About iHacker and Monx, there isn't a bug list, so i wonder if they are perfectly working, including camera..
Thanks
1 yea root phone
2 yea backup your TA and DRM there is a tut on the forum just search
3 yea update to 4.3 so u can unlock your bl without losing camera function
4 yea it will void your warranty and ya you can relock your bl with your keys there is a tut for that too
5 u have too because u loose root when u update but it is still a work in progress so read around and see what method works
6 doom I think is the way to go
7 try then out and see which one is better for you...I haven't used any of them so I don't know what bugs they have

4- But if i relock will i get my warranty back? I mean, they will be capable of knowing that I unlockd in the first place?
7- So you are using stock? I'll ask in the roms thread for what works. Just thought that asking once here would be better =)
Thanks for the answers!

You can't root this version directly.
You have 2 options.
1) Unlock bootloader.
2) Downgrade to 4.2, root via vroot then upgrade.
More details here.

You can always use nut method for upgrade but it doesn't support this version i guess.
or you can always go for a custom rom which is prerooted.

i know there is a method will sure work.
-use flashtool flash custom kernel
-go to cwm flash a zip file (update_supersu.zip) provided by someone in xda, credit to tat person!
-finally flash stock ftf with only kernel.
-done! rooted!
@chunlianghere, @thalada, What are you doing People? From all the links just one is correct, for .290. Also NEVER give advice to Unlock Bootlader because users cannot be aware of the risk doing this like lose Permanently DRM Keys and Warranty, FOREVER. Because if you do not advice of the risk someone can Unlock the Bootloader then lose DRM keys and if so it will NEVER be relocked and warranty will be void permanently, so before give advice learn what is all about!
@SpawnCube, the .136 cannot be rooted directly but can be Rooted with the method by NUT for Locked Bootloader. If your Model is C6903 you can downgrade directly to .534 with FW provided by NUT to not lose IMEI, then Root with Bin4ry, then Update to .290 with the instructions given HERE, when you have .290 rooted you are ready to update to .136 with the same method HERE.
For different Models the downgrade have to be done differently, downgrade to .257 FW First, then to .534 FW to not lose IMEI, but you will update anyway so there is no problem even if you will lose it.
Watch the Video Tutorial How To in the first Link for .290. It will explain all.

That sound like you try to be smart without know anything about it. So then you should go back to read the whole Xperia section before Post.
If you Unlock Bootloader you will lose DRM Key permanently and you warranty will be void forever. To avoid that You have to Backup TA, to Backup TA you need Root, but if you Unlock Bootloader before have root you will lose DRM. It is clear NOW?
I think only Samsung lose IMEI? Read again the whole Xperia section and Rooting Section.
If you love Samsung because is not so complicated then you are in wrong section.

actually i dont care much about DRM key anyway. send for warranty only if hardware is spoilt. the most ask them do last warranty repair.
if DRM key n warranty is so much important, than sony would hav "Bootloader unlocked: NO" for all phone in the world
actually sony doesnt do the warranty n repair. it depends on the company in tat particular country. like example for doomlord, his one is only flap damage, but can get 1 to 1 exchange. tat shows tat how good the company is in tat country.
unlocking bootloader n rooting is pretty much standard.
technology n software is improving at a fast rate. the most i get a latest newer phone.

Ok, here you are right but you have to understand that, what is not important you, it may be important for others, especially when we talking about Warranty.
We are here to give advice, then we should do this in the right way and inform users of any risk.

hey eclyptos, hope you still around this thread.
i quite agree with you, since i am one of those who care about warranty.
I hope it's fine to make a question about rooting here 'coz i can't make post on there. anw, i've been trying to follow the steps on here, but i find some trouble.
My status is :
Device : Xperia Z1 C6903
Build number : 14.2.1.136
what I did was :
Installing Flashtool 9.13 on PC
Download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.flashable.zip and put it on my first page of SDcard on device
Download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.Stripped.tft inside flashtool/firmwares folder on PC
Install TWRP on my device (can’t be used, root needed), can’t create a backup *step 5 failed*
XZDualRecovery Question : I’ve download it, connect my device to PC then enable USB debugging mode. Execute the install.bat from XZDualRecovery and choose number 2. Does anything really happened? *step 6 failed?*
Then I install the flashmode and fastboot drivers from flashtool folders. Tried to flashmode C6903_14.2.A.0.290 Brand Generic NCB but it stopped halfway.

The Video Tutorial on that thread explain very well what you should do, did you watched it?
You have to downgrade via Flashtool to .534 FW provided by NUT to not lose IMEI, Root the Firmware with Bin4ry, when you are rooted instal Dual Recovery, then follow the instruction to update directly to .136 from HERE.
All the files you find in .290 thread, Post #3, Watch the Video, then follow .136 thread.
Hello all! Im new in xda forum, so i will be greatefull if you help me with my Sony Z1 phone. I have Z1 c903 on android 5.0.2., and I was mad on sony becouse they didnt make update to 5.1, so i was looking on forum how to root and install some custom rom and make my phone updated. So i find on some thread that i should unlock bootloader, and i followed instructions and unlocked it, but without making some backup or anything else. So i have seen that there is official update for sony and i want to get back to lock bootloader. But when i enter flashtool and enter "blu" i click on relock bootloader, and start phone type *#*#service#*#* it say that my bootloader is still unlocked. How should i get back to locked bootloader or make official update to 5.1. Please make it more clear becouse i am pretty noob for android development and rest. Also i want to add that i have not rooted my phone or install some custom rom or other, i just have unlock bootloader and thats all. Could i get back my "DRM keys" and could i get back my ofiicial android. Thanks in advance.

The title says it all. And I don't want some "Smart-ass" to tell me it won't make sense, because you know what DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. Having to back up DRM keys before rooting not to lose it, and the only way to back it up is to ROOT.
If you know another way to back up DRM Keys without rooting first, please tell me. Thanks.

OK so to root, I most likely have to "unlock" which makes me lose DRM keys and that's what I wanna do before "unlocking" which is ridiculous. The only solution I know of is that I degrade down to Kitkat firmware so that I would be able "Root without unlocking BL". Or if you know of a method that makes me root without unlocking the BL at this version it would be better.
