If you have a look through Q&A it is full of people who, for one reason or another, have wanted to go back to stock after being unlocked.
This is a custom 'stock' rom - exactly as you would get from HTC. You can install it without relocking, changing recovery, RUU etc.

If you have a recovery just wipe data and flash the zip file. You will probably lose root

I'm still on the stock OTA 2.12.405.7 release (S-Off and rooted). Do you think I'd be OK installing this over the top without a wipe?

Yes you will be fine. I was running 2.12.405.7, rooted and S-OFF and installed this ROM right over it and didn't lose root or any of my installed apps either.
Just make sure you flash a Gingerbread radio after you flash the ROM to get your sound back.
Just a noob question: Why should i flash a new radio since i'm having Gingerbread 2.3.3 OS ?

Brilliant, I'll give it a go later, thanks. Already on a GB radio.
Any issues with this ROM? Probably not I realise as it's just a stock one. Just thought I'd give this a go as I think I'm going to wait until a stable CM7.1 comes out before I switch to that, and all the other ROM's seem to have niggling little problems of some form or another.

I debated long and hard about building this rooted, stock GB ROM and flashing it because IMHO the WWE stock Froyo 2.2 ROM was running just fine and didn't have any issues either.
Since 2.12 was the first 2.3.3 GB ROM and they soon followed it with 2.30, I figured whatever issues HTC had found on the GB IncS they corrected in 2.30, so I bite the bullet and built and flashed this ROM.
Agian IMHO it runs just as well as the Froyo ROM did and for my usage pattern, I can ususally get 2 days use out of a battery charge.

If you are currently running a Froyo ROM, then you need to flash a GB radio because a Froyo radio image does not work with a GB ROM and vice versa. At the time this ROM was built using the HTC Kitchen, it did not support adding a radio image to the zip file.
If you are currently running another custom GB ROM, then you already have a compatible GB radio and you can simply flash this ROM.
Just thought I'd update this thread to say I've just flashed this over the top of my rooted stock OTA rom, without wiping, and everything seems to be working fine. Thanks
Thank you for that..

Yes that is the same problem I'm having. I just downloaded the OTA and will investigate the update script. The new ROM has some extra img files that maybe we need to manually add to the kitchen setup folder to make a working ROM.
So I guess there's no hope for that new build.. (read a post of yours in another thread..)

There's always hope. When HTC gets around to releasing the IncS kernel code a workaround for running the ROM on older HBOOT version may be found.
Until then you can install the RUU, unlock it and then root it manually or flash one of the custom ROMs withs Sense 3.0/3.5

Buying used N7000 with CM - returning to stock ROM

Can anyone recommend a stock ROM and whatever other files needed (firmware/recovery, etc.) to return a used N7000 to stock?
I'm on my way to buying one from someone and probably will test out the CM10 installed on it, but in case it isn't very stable I want to return to the stock ROM.
I'm not a complete noob, but I know there are particularities to each device, and trying to figure out if it's as simple as finding the latest stock ROM posted here on the forum and flashing that with ODIN or whatever...
Thanks.
You can give a try to gingerbread.and then can flash cm10.and can return back also to stock.
I wouldnt Recommend you ics.

It's got CM10 installed already and I will test that out first. Why wouldn't you recommend stock ICS? I mainly want it because I want Touchwiz and also because I want the phone to be ready for the Jelly Bean OTA update when it comes out and don't want to keep flashing ROM-s all the time and losing my stuff or having to back sh!t up

What about the root and recovery? Do I need to be stock completely to prepare for the OTA?
yes for OTA you need to have stock ROM.
You can directly flash latest ROM, so at least you need not to go for OTA soon.

You can get the ota update even if you are rooted but you cant install it
You need to be on stock kernel and unrooted to get the ota installed
After you get an ota update, you can unroot your phone, then download and install the ota update

Not true.. You indeed have to have stock kernel/rom/recovery but superuser/supersu are just apks.. So you can update being rooted and pray the process doesn't unroot your device.. But it won't prevent the ota upgrade

So, if I flash the stock ROM will that also unroot it and install the stock recovery? Or are these separate steps?

How to go back to stock

Hey guys, really new to android.
I unlocked my bootloader and installed the PAC Rom.
Now im wanting to go back to the stock rom.
I got an error using flashtool so i used CWM recovery to flash the stock firmware, but now it will not boot.
I still have the PAC icons when i first turn on the phone for some reason, and then it says xperia and i get to the coloured animation and it just stays on that.
Anyone know why this is or how to fix it? i have tried multiple tutorials but cant get it working.
help!
Repair using SUS or EMMA?
You are still on the cm10 kernel.. Flash doomlord kernel..
Can be found in the original android development..

Here's the link link to the stock global unbranded rom thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2223827
Download this ROM and flash it using Flashtool. Hardly takes five minutes flashing and bingo!
P.S. It says it includes kernel too if that's the issue
Can the global unbranded rom be used with C6602 as well?

All stock ROM FTFs will include the kernel, CWM ROM zips don't, so they're no good for returning to stock unless you already have a kernel to go with the zip.

[Q] Is possible to have a stock P880 V20a zip version in CWM pack?

Hi all.
I see in the forum is missing a zip pack of the stock rom, can someone do it?
Is not important if debloated or not, just stock base rom in CWM pack with boot.img too maybe.
Thanks

I was just about to ask about this, the debloated v20a doesn't have valid links anymore. Just standard v20a would be great

If there would be a ZIP version to restore stock, I would hail that as well -- as most likely will all non-Windows users! It would be great to have the possibility to flash stock (ROM and recovery) on non-Windows systems. I wasn't aware I need a Windows license to operate an Android phone...
